Here are some fun cannon facts about Bosch I found out through TAKA-Nakayama's Twitter acc that I don't see a lot of people talking about. Plus all the Bosch content I was able to find on him. I plan to update this as new material is revealed.

「ボシュ」はナイシャール語で「犬ちゃん」という意味なので基本的には人懐こい性格 - "Boshu" means "dog" in Nayshall, so basically he has a friendly personality.

He’s a necessary figure for both introducing players to the country of Nayshall, which appears in the game, and for the protagonist’s growth. 1. The word Japanese borrowed is actually “vacances” (hence バカンス “bakansu”), which is the French word for vacation.  Most katakana words come from English, but there are some from other languages too, like French, Dutch, German, Ainu, Sanskrit, Portuguese, etc.  Actually ironically, the word for the UK in Japanese (イギリス “igirisu”) doesn’t come from English lol.  It comes from the Portuguese word for “English”, inglês 2. The localization just cut Satan out lol rude 3. Granted I don’t actually know who found the shells 4. C.S. stands for “Comic Seance”, and in Japanese it’s コミサバ (komisaba), short for Comic Sabbath. 5. The actual translation is “There are new discoveries through reading” but that sounded really weird. 6. The localization translates this as the entire “ComicSeance”, but the Japanese doesn’t say コミックサバト so I kept true to the abbreviation 7. 修羅場 (shuraba) is a slang for the crunch time that mangaka (and I guess authors too) face.  It also means “fight scene”, and from what I’ve heard manga crunch time certainly feels like that lol.  GJ (good job) is from おつ (otsu), the shortest form of “otsukare” (good work) possible.  God for once Levi said something and I understood it

大変申し訳ありませんが、皆さんがキャラクターやストーリーに興味を持っていただいたことに感謝しています。

現在法的な理由から私の知的財産の保護のために適切な著作権と商標を追求している間は、誰も私のコンテンツを利用しないようお願いします。

また営利・非営利問わずTicci Tobyの使用許可を求めて送られてきたDMやコメントをは拒否しなければならないと思います。

一部の人には理解して頂けない事はわかっていますし、脱線して感情的な話をするつもりはありません。

ですが、どうか私の作品に対する権利を尊重し、私をアーティストとしてだけではなく1人の人間として尊重してほしいと、片膝をついて嘆願していると思ってください。

【授業ボランティア】 国際部の活動として週に1度、大学が行なっている日本語の授業のボランティアをしています！留学生の日本語学習を授業に参加することを通してお手伝いしています。

今回は授業ボランティアに参加したひとたちの感想を載せます〜！

皆さん発音が上手でとても驚きました！文の意味を理解しながら読んでいることが分かりました。1回目はあまり時間がなくて途中までしか終わらせることができなくて申し訳なかったのですが、今回は最後まで出来て少し雑談もできたので良かったです☺️また機会があればお話しできたらうれしいです。

難しい単語や今は使わないような言い回しもたくさんある文章でしたが、すらすら読めていて素晴らしかったです！きちんと勉強されていることがよく分かりました。機会があればまたお話ししたいです！！

I was surprised that exchange students pronounced so nice ! I realized that they understood the meaning of the passages while reading. The first time, I couldn't manage the time well, so we couldn't read all passages. I felt sorry for them. But second time, we were able to read all passages and also had time to chat  with them. If I have a chance, l’d like to participate it again!!

The passage had many difficult words and old fashioned words . But it was lovely that exchange students read so fluently.  I could understand they were studying Japanese so hard. I'd like to talk with them again if I have a chance!!

It’s late but~! It was a three-day weekend in Japan, so I was busy, and then I had left my laptop at work so I couldn’t post anything.

So, yeah. This is another translation I did. It’s about Hafu experience in Japan. I offered to translate this article for a group of people. As I mentioned before, I’m just doing rough/casual translations for now. So I will post them as such. I don’t have a need at the moment to be extra with it. I have left original comments to the group I translated for as well.

Please don’t comment anything about being “Hafu” or something like that in regard to Japan or racial discrimination. There is a lot of misinformation and misconceptions non-Hafu are spreading and erasing Hafu voices. Though, if you are Hafu, please feel free to comment of course! I am also biracial, but not Japanese, so I can relate to a lot of what they experience from my home country, though our worlds are very different at the same time. There are three other stories from this article I will be translating and sharing.

What comes to mind when you hear the word “hafu”? On TV, you see the so called “hafu talent”, or perhaps several people you know from work or university comes to mind. Though it’s natural, even if I say the word “hafu”, there are many people. From roots, nationality, sex, age, birthplace, many people are bound by the word “hafu”.

「ハーフ」と聞いてどんなイメージを思い浮かべるでしょうか。テレビで見かけるいわゆる「ハーフタレント」たちのイメージ、あるいは学校や職場で知り合った人のイメージが思い浮かぶ人も多いかもしれません。当然ですが、一口に「ハーフ」と言っても様々な人たちがいます。ルーツや国籍、性別、年齢、生まれた場所まで本当に多様な人たちが「ハーフ」という言葉で括られています。

Lorance (they just mention he is a young sociologist and he is of the few sociologists) deepens the research done on the themes of “hafu” and “mixed blood” (you will find this translates to “mixed race” but a Japanese lady once told me it has a bad image with it most times, so I feel “mixed blood” may convey that more so. We commonly say ‘mixed race’ in USA without a negative meaning). Over the course of 6 years, he has gathered and introduced the stories from more than 50 people from places like Ghana, Bolivia, India, and America. I think you can know about the conflict within the knot of the word hafu and what kind of personal experience they have in the everyday life in Japan.

Hello. I’m Lorance, a sociologist. My mother was born of my grandfather, who was on a military base, and my grandmother, whose birthplace is Okinawa. I’m what they call “Amerasian” or “quarter.” What type of person comes to mind when you hear “hafu”? Do you picture one who is fluent in English (or a foreign language), has a good appearance, and has a role in ‘global’ activities? I, I only think of one hafu- they can’t speak English, have back pains because of old age, they clean up trash everyday as a landlord… My grandmother.

こんにちは。社会学者の下地ローレンス吉孝と申します。私の母は、米兵であった祖父と沖縄の祖母のもとに生まれました。私はいわゆる「アメラジアン」で、「クオーター」です。皆さんは「ハーフ」と聞いて、どのような人々を思い浮かべるでしょうか。 英語（または外国語）が流暢に話せて、容姿が良く、グローバルに活躍する姿でしょうか。私が思い浮かべる「ハーフ」の一人は、 英語が話せない、歳をとって腰を悪くした、マンションの管理人として毎日ゴミを片付けている、私の母親の姿。

In this article, I will introduce 4 hafu’s stories and episodes. Hafu aren’t the image of the world, but the individual reality of living in Japan. It is good if we can think and discuss together as we read about the reality of Japanese society from their “mundane” everyday lives.

この記事では私が出会った4人の「ハーフ」の方たちの言葉やエピソードを紹介します。「ハーフ」はイメージの世界の人々ではなく、現実の日本社会に生きる一人ひとりです。かれらの“ありふれた”日常生活からみえてくる日本社会の現実について、この記事を読みながら考えたり語り合ったりしてみていただけたら嬉しいです。

「きみ、外国人登録証を見せなさい」

Sho-san was born of his Ghanaian father and Japanese mother in Japan. Three months after he was born, they moved (the verb is actually “migrate” AND “immigrate”) to Ghana and he lived there for three years. Around the age of three, Sho-san returned to Japan and has lived in Tokyo ever since.

翔さんは日本でガーナ人の父と日本人の母のもとに生まれた。生後3ヶ月でガーナに移住し、その後3年間はガーナで暮らした。3歳の頃日本に帰国し、それ以降は東京都内で暮らしている。

 What kind of experiences did you have in elementary school?

About three months passed after I entered school where three upper classmen bullied me on 2 instances. From that moment I realized, “of course, I’m going to be made into a big idiot”. That was a bit difficult for me mentally, I guess.

――小学校ではどんな経験があった？

入学してから3ヶ月ぐらい経ったとき、2つ上の上級生3人からいじめを受けてさ。その時から「俺はやっぱりすごいバカにされてるんだな」ってことに気づいて。あれはちょっと精神的につらかったかな

Did they call you names or anything?

Names? It was already pretty crazy. If it was just names, that’s doable, but when it got violent, I understood from that day that I was really being bullied.

After that, I began to dislike school. I would often just go back home on my way to school. My parents also had to take me to school by car at times, too. My parents were worried, so they made me go to this school for students like me who had ADHD. It was just once a week though. Thanks to that school, I was able to change.

It was mostly those younger than me who did the teasing. They called me things like “chocolate” and “baked senbei”. I kind of hated being different from everyone. Kind of like, “you’re the only odd one out”. So, there were days when it was only me. The only around to give advice were the teachers and my parents. I felt like there I didn’t really have friends I could talk with (about being hafu). But, in 8th grade, I got really good at track and field, devoted myself to practicing, and forgot about the bullying. Though I said the school from earlier changed me, track and field changed me, too.

――何か言葉で言われたりとか？

言葉というか、もう暴力という感じだね。言葉だけだったらまだいいけど、暴力になると「俺はやっぱりいじめられてるんだな」っていうのがその日からわかった。

それ以来学校行くのがちょっと嫌になって。登校する途中で自分の家に戻ってきてしまうっていうことがあった。親に車で学校に送ってもらったりしたこともあった。

困った親は、俺みたいにADHD（注意欠陥・多動性障害）をもってる子ども達を対象とした児童学校に行かせたんだよね。週1回だけなんだけど。その学校に行ったおかげで、自分を変えられるきっかけにはなったんだよね。

年下からもからかわれたことはあった。「チョコレート」とか、「焼きせんべい」とか、いろいろ言われてたね。

みんなと違うっていうのがちょっと嫌だったかな。「君だけ仲間はずれ」みたいな。だから一人でいた日もあったし、相談に乗れるのが先生か親しかいなかった。相談に乗ってくれる友達があんまりいなかったって感じで。

でも中2からは部活動（陸上競技）でレベルがだんだん上がってきて、そこからいじめのことは忘れて練習に打ち込むようになって。さっきの児童学校が俺を変えてくれたっていうのもあったけど、陸上も俺を変えてくれたものの1つなんだよね。

The bullying was intense/severe, huh….

Maybe it was also that I had no pride. Though I was bullied, it’s not that I didn’t fight back because I was calm or because I thought “there is no use in fighting back”… (sorry, not too confident about this part). I think I just didn’t have any pride.

I kind of just thought “is this over yet?” Even now I think the same. At work and all. Despite being bullied, I’m used to it. So, I just ignore it like, “oh, yeah… What’s up with that?” I can just think I can completely ignore people who say stuff.

――いじめはきつかっただろうね…。

いじめに対しては自分にプライドがないっていうのもあったかもしれない。いじめられてもやり返さなかったのは、冷静でいたわけでも「やりかえしてはいけない」って意識でいたわけでもなくて。ただ単にプライドがなかっただけなんだと思う。

いじめられても「もういいかな」って感じで。今でもそうなんだけど。仕事でも。いじめられるのに慣れたから「あ、そう。それがどうした？」って流すような感じで無視してる。「言ってる人にはひたすら無視すればいいや」っていうふうに思えた。

Oh, I see. It’s been pretty difficult, huh. What is work like?

When I worked at kaiten sushi, the manager on shift would ask “can you speak English?” each time he came by me. Even customers would ask “Where are you from?” and say things like “Oh, your Japanese is so good!”

I often got stopped by police during the day among other things. They’d say, “Hey you. Show me your foreign registration card”. I thought, “What? I don’t know anything about that.” I would say, “I’m Japanese!” but they still would say, “no. You have to have your foreigners card”. I thought, “wow, they’re persistent.” Just at that time, my mother came by chance. She explained, “He’s Japanese! He doesn’t need a freakin’ foreigners card!” and cleared things up. When it’s just me, they don’t believe me at all. That really worried me. (sorry. Not confident in that either)

――そうか、そこにいくまでは結構つらかっただろうね。仕事での経験はどう？

回転寿司で働いていたときは巡回するマネージャーから「英語喋れるの？」って毎回聞かれたり、店のフロアでもお客様から「きみどこから来たの？」って、そういうのを毎回聞かれてた。「きみ日本語上手だね」っていうのも、1日に1組からは絶対言われてた。

よく昼間に警察に止められたりすることもあって。「きみ、（外国人）登録証見せなさい」って。「は？そんなの知らない」と思ってさ。「日本人ですよ」みたいな感じで言っても「いやいや登録証がないとだめだよ」って。「しつこいな」と。

ちょうどその時母親が偶然通りかかって、「彼日本人なんで登録証必要ありません」って説明したら一発で納得してくれてさ。俺のときは全く納得してくれなかったのに。そういうのには本当に困った。

They just randomly asked about the foreigner’s card?

Yeah. They already judged with their eyes, right? It’s really cruel. If I said I was Ghanaian, I wouldn’t think that. I’ve always lived in Japan, so of course I would think “I am Japanese.”

But, of course, based on appearances, one would think, “uh, something’s a little different though, yeah?”

It starts with the skin color -- “you’re completely different from Japanese people”. There are many others besides that. If you put it simply, I look foreign based on appearances. But if you look inside and at my soul, I’m Japanese. I think in this way.

Because I was able to change completely, I am who I am today. I had some bullying in my childhood and dealings with ADHD though. I met many people, learned many things, and improved myself. Even if you’re not hafu, even human, you should challenge everything. I hope our future selves can laugh.

――いきなり「登録証見せて」って言われるんだ。

うん。もう見た目でしか判断してないよね。本当あれは酷かった。自分が「ガーナ人」なのかなって言ったらそうとは思わない。むしろずっと暮らしてるのは日本だからやっぱり「自分は日本人だ」という認識の方が強い。

だけれど、やっぱり見た目で言ったら周りから「ちょっと違うのかな？」って思われてしまう時がある。「日本人とはまったく違う」っていうのが肌の色から始まるんだけど。それ以外のいろんな面でも。簡単に言っちゃうと、見た目は外人と思われるけど、中身とか魂は日本人だみたいな。そういう風に思ってる。

やっぱり自分を変えてくれるきっかけがあったから、今の自分があるってわけで。小さい頃のいじめだとか、自分が抱えてたADHDのこととかもあったんだけど。いろんな人に出会ったり、いろんなものを学んだりして、改善して、今の自分があるっていう感じかなとは思ってる。ハーフじゃなくても人間何でも挑戦すべき。未来の自分が笑ってられるように。

Sho-san works as a social worker. His co-workers are very kind. Sho-san said, “it’s a good work environment” with a bright facial expression (Japanese is so oddly detailed at times, like wut. I guess I could have said with a smile…). However, there is always the reality of being seen as a “foreigner” by the glancing eyes whenever he goes out. As well as the frequent stops by police demanding for a foreigner’s card.

翔さんは現在福祉関係の仕事で働いている。仕事場の同僚は非常に優しく、翔さんは「働きやすい環境だ」と明るい表情で説明してくれた。しかし、一歩外に出れば、彼を「外国人」として眼差す視線が日々待ち構えているという現実がある。警察による路上での外国人登録証の提示要求はその典型とも言える。

喘息（ぜんそく）：asthma

恥部（ちぶ）：人に見られたくない、恥ずかしい部分。I think colloquially it means genitals/private parts lol.

「致」の意味よく理解してないから下記にて単語の例をいくつかご確認ください。

合致（がっち）：ぴったり合うこと

極致（きょくち）：perfection, the culmination of beauty=美の極致

Um, I’M SORRY, the 単語 for DOUBLE SUICIDE is 心中(しんじゅう)？？？？ Such innocent 漢字 expressing something SO GRAVE?! (For the record, 心中(しんちゅう) has the meaning I expected - someone’s heartfelt feelings). 

おmg バカだ、今更「致します」の「致」を調べてたことに気付いたw。ボーっと生きてるんじゃねーよ。

ちなみに「至る」と「致す」の違いは。。。

至る＝目的に到達した

致す＝まだ目的には到達はしていないが、到達するように努力する

弾圧(だんあつ): suppression/oppression

弾力・弾力性(だんりょく)：elasticity. 変形された物体が元の形に戻ろうとする性質。In non-science-y applications, flexibility. Wait, up until now I’ve been using 柔軟性 to express non-science flexibility. Should I have been using 弾力性？I think this question needs its own post. 

象徴(しょうちょう): 抽象的な思想・観念・事物などを、具体的な事物によって理解しやすい形で表すこと。また、その表現に用いられたもの。シンボル。Symbol!

象徴的: symbolic

かき氷やスイカは、夏という季節を象徴する食べ物の一つだ。

逆らう（さからう）: go against/defy

堤（つつみ）：embankment 

日本でよく見る、海岸を波から守る構造の種類（堤防(ていぼう)、防波堤(ぼうはてい)、など）と違いをこちらからどうぞ

理不尽（りふじん）: unreasonable, irrational (妹は理不尽な態度を取りがち)

背く＝そむ・くって読みますー

瀬戸際（せとぎわ）

嘆く（なげ・く）=lament

感嘆詞（かんたんし）：感動や応答、呼びかけとして使う言葉 (exclamations, interjections)  「えー」「おおお」「うわー」などなど。

沢(さわ)=swamp/marsh

「沢山」の漢字の由来

絶対使わない単語：沖天（ちゅうてん）= to rise into the heavens. (Does it imply death? No idea. Just jotting it down here because I have a feeling I’ll regret it if I don’t make an effort to remember it) (actually, maybe it implies like “to go down in history”. Yeah. Maybe).

You ever wondered what a 沖 actually is? Sure haven’t! Well, here’s a picture. It’s like… further offshore. Where surfers might hang to catch a wave, not like I know anything about surfing of course…

【意味】悪く思わないでください

【ニュアンス解説】個人的に何か恨みがあって相手を攻撃している（否定的な ことを述べている）わけではない、と相手にわかって欲しい時に使うフレーズ。

A. We decided not to promote you at this time. （我々は今回の君の昇進を見送ることにしたよ。）

B. May I ask you why? （理由を伺ってもいいでしょうか？）

２．駐車時間の超過で罰金・・・

”自分だけの見解によるものではない”とか”君のせいだと責めているわけではない”という ニュアンスが強いフレーズです。

【意味】願い・望み

【ニュアンス解説】今望んでいることや、「こうだったらよかったのになぁ。」 という時につかう単語です。

【ニュアンス解説】It's をつけて使うことが多いです。「私のせいだ」 と、失敗などを認めるときに使います。

・・・となったのではないかと。あくまでも友人の

１．相手に対して失礼な事をしてしまった時に

２．わざとやったつもりじゃなかったんだよ、と言いたいとき。

【ニュアンス解説】ホームパーティーに呼ばれた・呼ぶ際に、 使うフレーズです。

ホームパーティーに誘われました。

A：What do you want me to bring? （何を持っていけばいい？）

B：Oh, don't worry. Just bring yourself! （気にしないで、手ぶらできてね。）

欧米では、よく自分の家に人を招いたり招かれたりするので、 とてもよく使うフレーズです。

こう言われたら何も持っていかなくても大丈夫なので気軽に 参加してみてくださいね。（もちろんこう言われたとしても、 自分の気持ちで手土産を持っていくのはＯＫですよ。）

Worn out：とても疲れた ■今日のネイティブフレーズ ￣￣￣￣￣￣￣￣￣￣￣￣￣￣￣￣￣￣￣￣￣￣￣￣￣￣ 【フレーズ】Worn out《ウォーンナウ》

【意味】とても疲れた、クタクタだ。

【ニュアンス解説】疲れた、というとtiredを真っ先に思い出すと 思いますが、ネイティブはworn outも結構使います。

tiredよりもより疲れてクタクタだ、という感じですね。 物がくたびれてしまった時にも使います。

【例文】

１．もうクタクタだよ、と言いたいとき。

A. How're you doing? （元気？）

B. I'm worn out. （クタクタだよ）

２．靴がもう駄目になっちゃったよ、と言いたいとき。

A. Mom, my shoes are worn out. （ママ、僕の靴ボロボロになっちゃったよ。）

B. Oh, dear, let's go buy new shoes. （あらあら、新しいのを買いに行きましょうね。）

ガタがきた、ボロボロだ、クタクタだ、というニュアンスで 人にも物にも使えます。

ちなみにgo buyは、go and buyやgo to buyと同じ意味です。

英語ペラペラになるには、フレーズを覚えるのが一番の近道です。

Freak out：パニックになる ■今日のネイティブフレーズ ￣￣￣￣￣￣￣￣￣￣￣￣￣￣￣￣￣￣￣￣￣￣￣￣￣￣ 【フレーズ】Freak out./Freaking out.《フリーカウ/フリーキンナウ》

【意味】パニックになる、ドキドキする（いやな意味で）。

【ニュアンス解説】びっくりするようなことや、嫌なドキドキ感などで パニックに陥ったときの表現です。

【例文】

１．パニックに陥ったといいたい時。

A. I was freaking out when I saw my car was burning. （自分の車が燃えているのを見たときはパニックになったよ。）

B. I bet. （だろうね。）

２．パニック状態だった、と言いたい時。

A. Was she all right? （彼女、大丈夫だった？）

B. Of course not, she freaked out. （大丈夫なわけないだろ、パニクってたよ。）

日常的に結構良くつかわれるフレーズです。

怖い思いをした、とてもびっくりしたときなどにも 使えますのでぜひ覚えてくださいね。

英語ペラペラになるには、フレーズを覚えるのが一番の近道です。

Hiro REVIVER Interview with Famitsu July 2017

REVIVER is my favourite song from ALL LEAD TRACKS. Since my Japanese learning is not progressing anywhere and I still failed at memorizing Kanji, it was a good idea to make my demotivated brain go through another interview in which Hiro talked about REVIVER and the Hortensia Saga project.

This interview is pretty special because the interviewer is one of the music creators for Hortensia Saga, Mr. Makoto Sato from f4samurai *. I hope Google gave the correct pronunciation of his name.

これを記念して、マイファスのボーカルで楽曲の作詞・作曲を手掛けたHiro氏にインタビュー。制作時の出来事や歌詞に込めた想いなどを聞いた。お話の聞き手は、楽曲の制作に『オルサガ』側のクリエイターとして携わったf4samuraiの佐藤允紀氏にお願いした。 これをきねんして、 マイファスのボーカルでがっきょくのさくし・さっきょくをてがけたHiroし インタビュー 。せいさくじのできごとやかしにこめたおもいなどをきいた。おはなしのききては、がっきょくのせいさくに 『オルサガ』 がわの クリエイター としてたずさわったf4samuraiのさとうまこときのしにおねがいした。

To celebrate this, we interviewed MY FIRST STORY’s vocalist Mr. Hiro who worked on the songwriting and composition of the song. We heard what happened during the creation and the feelings incorporated in the lyrics. To be the listener of the story, we asked Mr.Makoto Sato* of f4samurai, who was involved as a creator for “Hortensia Saga” in the music production.

佐藤允紀氏（以下、佐藤）:　本題に入る前に、Hiroさんは普段スマホゲームは遊ばれますか？ 佐藤允紀氏（以下、佐藤） さとうまこときのし（いか、さとう）:　ほんだいにはいるまえに、Hiroさ���はふだんすまほげーむはあそばれますか？さとうまこときのし（いか、さとう） Mr. Makoto Sato (hereinafter, Sato) : Before we get into the main subject, Hiro, do you usually play smartphone games?

Hiro氏（以下、Hiro）:　けっこうやっていますね。軽いものが中心ですが。やり始めるとどうしてものめり込んでしまっ て、仕事に影響が……。何度か注意されたこともあるので、いまは重いものは避けています。 Hiroし（いか、Hiro）:　けっこうやっていますね。かるいものがちゅうしんですが。やりはじめるとどうしてものめりこんでしまって、しごとにえいきょうが……。なんどかちゅういされたこともあるので、いまはおもいものはさけています。    Mr. Hiro (hereinafter, Hiro) : I do play them quite a bit. Although light things mainly. When I start doing it, I would be absolutely hogged on it and that is affecting my work …. . Since I have been warned (about it) several times, I avoid heavy things now.

佐藤 :　となると『オルサガ』は……重いほうですね（笑）。僕は仕事柄ゲームを多くプレイしますし、いろいろなエンタメコンテンツも吸収するのですが、 Hiroさんは普段どんなコンテンツを吸収して、インスピレーションを受けますか？ さとう:　となると『おるさが』は……おもいほうですね（えみ）。ぼくはしごとがらげーむをおおくぷれいしますし、いろいろなえんためこんてんつもきゅうしゅうするのですが、Hiroさんはふだんどんなこんてんつをきゅうしゅうして、いんすぴれーしょんをうけますか？ Sato: “Hortensia Saga" is … a heavy one (laugh). Though I play a lot of work-related games and absorb various entertainment contents but …. Hiro, what kind of contents do you usually absorb and receive inspiration from?

Hiro :　映画、ドラマ、マンガ、アニメ、本、RPGなど、物語性のあるものには影響を受けますね。主人公の成長物語が好きなんですよね。すぐ入り込んじゃっ て、よく感動して泣いていますね（笑）。 Hiro:　えいが、どらま、まんが、あにめ、ほん、RPGなど、ものがたりせいのあるものにはえいきょうをうけますね。しゅじんこうのせいちょうものがたりがすきなんですよね。すぐはいりこんじゃって、よくかんどうしてないていますね（えみ）。 Hiro : I get influences from movies, dramas, comics, animation, books, RPG and such, and narrative things. We like the growth story of a hero, don’t we? (The one) directly penetrating you and (with which) you would be deeply moved and then you would be crying (laugh).

  佐藤 :　では、そろそろ本題に。今回『オルサガ』第三部の主題歌を、ということでオファーさせていただいたのですが、正直受けていただけるとは思っていません でした（笑）。 さとう:　では、そろそろほんだいに。こんかい『おるさが』だいさんぶのしゅだいかを、ということでおふぁーさせていただいたのですが、しょうじきうけていただけるとはおもっていませんでした（えみ）。 Sato : Well then, it’s about time for the main question. Since you guys were offered this theme song of the third installment of “Hortensia Saga" this time, but I did not expect to get such honesty though (laugh).

Hiro :　いやいや（笑）、お話をいただけてうれしかったです。 Hiro:　いやいや（えみ）、おはなしをいただけてうれしかったです。    Hiro: No, no. (Laugh), we were glad to get to tell you that.

佐藤 :　ゲームの主題歌を制作するというのは初めてのことだったと思いますが、進め方なども含めていかがでしたか？ さとう:　げーむのしゅだいかをせいさくするというのははじめてのことだったとおもいますが、すすめかたなどもふくめていかがでしたか？ Sato : I think that it was the first time for you to produce the theme song of a game, but how was it, including how did you go about (doing it)?

Hiro :　そうですね、僕の場合、楽曲をなにもないところから作るよりも、なにかテーマがあったほうが作りやすいです。本当になんでもいいので。ですので、しっ かりとした世界観や物語がある『オルサガ』の楽曲制作はやりやすかったですね。 Hiro:　そうですね、ぼくのばあい、がっきょくをなにもないところからつくるよりも、なにかてーまがあったほうがつくりやすいです。ほんとうになんでもいいので。ですので、しっかりとしたせかいかんやものがたりがある『おるさが』のがっきょくせいさくはやりやすかったですね。 Hiro : Well, in my case, it would be easier to create a song from something with a theme than from nothing. Because really anything (that can provide the base to work from) is okay. So, it was easy to produce the music of “Hortensia Saga" as there are a solid world view and stories already.

佐藤 :　『オルサガ』には“命を継いでいく”というテーマがあります。資料もお渡ししましたが、ここまでのストーリー展開も含めて「テーマとしては少し重いか な？」という部分はこちらも気になっていました。 さとう:　『おるさが』には“いのちをついでいく”というてーまがあります。しりょうもおわたししましたが、ここまでのすとーりーてんかいもふくめて「てーまとしてはすこしおもいかな？」というぶぶんはこちらもきになっていました。 Sato : “Hortensia Saga" has the theme of “inochi o tsuideiku / inheriting/continuing the destiny*“. Although you were handed out the materials, including the story development up to this point, the part of “Is this maybe a little heavy as a theme?”, I’m curious of that one.

* I still can’t quite grasp the concept of “ 命 / inochi”. So, my chosen translation could still be off-the-mark. Kindly please refer to this 命 Kanji explanation. Also an in-depth meaning of “inochi” here by Professor Masahiro Morioka from Waseda University. It will better help you to understand the lyrics at least.

Hiro :　重い……重かったですね（笑）。正直、深すぎて歌詞やメロディにどこまで織り込めるのかなと。1曲じゃ収まらないんじゃ、というくらい。いただいた資 料も何回も読み返しました。 Hiro:　おもい……おもかったですね（えみ）。しょうじき、ふかすぎてかしやめろでぃにどこまでおりこめるのかなと。1きょくじゃおさまらないんじゃ、というくらい。いただいたしりょうもなんかいもよみかえしました。    Hiro : Heavy … yup it was heavy (laugh). Honestly, we were like, “How deeply can we incorporate the lyrics and melodies?”. “Can it fit in one song?”, it was like that. I read and reread the material I received many times as well.

佐藤 :　かなり悩まれている様子は、僕たちにも伝わってきましたね。 さとう:　かなりなやまれているようすは、ぼくたちにもつたわってきましたね。 Sato: It seems like that worried state of mind found its way to us too.

Hiro :　いちばん悩んだのは、主人公の気持ちになって詞を書いたほうがいいのか、物語を俯瞰的に見た僕として書いたほうがいいのかという点ですね。結局、俯瞰 的に書くのはプロローグやエピローグの雰囲気になってしまうのかな、ということで主人公に感情移入していくことにしました。マイファスもいろいろなものを 継いできたバンドですし、自分たちと重ね合わせたりしながら作り上げていきました。なので、かなり時間がかかってしまって（笑）。 Hiro:　いちばんなやんだのは、しゅじんこうのきもちになってことばをかいたほうがいいのか、ものがたりをふかんてきにみたぼくとしてかいたほうがいいのかというてんですね。けっきょく、ふかんてきにかくのはぷろろーぐやえぴろーぐのふんいきになってしまうのかな、ということでしゅじんこうにかんじょういにゅうしていくことにしました。まいふぁすもいろいろなものをついできたばんどですし、じぶんたちとかさねあわせたりしながらつくりあげていきました。なので、かなりじかんがかかってしまって（えみ）。    Hiro : The thing I was concerned the most was whether it was better to write the lyrics as the hero’s feelings, or whether I should write it as a bird’s eye view of the story. In the end, writing in bird’s eye view kind of turned into an atmosphere of prologue and epilogue, so by such a thing … that I decided to emphatize* with the hero. MY FIRST STORY is also a band that has continued on with various things, and I created it while overlapping with those. So because of that, it took quite some time (laugh).

佐藤 :　あがってきたのがレコーディ��グギリギリでしたね（笑）。 Sato: It was like you got up and it was barely enough time for recording, huh (laugh)?

Hiro :　すみませんでした（笑）。 Hiro :  Oopss ….. sorry (laugh).

佐藤 :　ギリギリだったので心配したのですが、あがってきたものを一読して「これはスゴイものを作っていただいたな」と思いました。加えて、レコーディングの 様子にも驚かされましたね。一小節づつ時間をかけて調整していくというやり方、あれは一般的な手法なのでしょうか？ さとう:　ぎりぎりだったのでしんぱいしたのですが、あがってきたものをいちどくして「これはすごいものをつくっていただいたな」とおもいました。くわえて、れこーでぃんぐのようすにもおどろかされましたね。いちしょうせつづつじかんをかけてちょうせいしていくというやりかた、あれはいっぱんてきなしゅほうなのでしょうか？ Sato : Though you were worried because it was barely enough time (for recording), but then I perused through the stuff you got up for and thought that “You made this awesome thing!“. At the same time, I was surprised by the state of the recording. How do you adjust over each bar, is that a common technique?

Hiro :　いえ、一般的ではないですね。ふつうは通して何回か歌って、そのなかからいいところをつまんで行くことが多いと思います。僕は、タイアップだったり明 確なテーマがあったりするときは、一小節づつ手を入れながら作っていく方が合うと思います。ゲームやアニメといった非日常的なものはとくにそうですね。そ れから、今回はすばらしい映像も作っていただいて、そこに曲が乗ることも決まっていたので、映像に合わせる意味でも細かくやっていきました。    Hiro:　いえ、いっぱんてきではないですね。ふつうはとおしてなんかいかうたって、そのなかからいいところをつまんでいくことがおおいとおもいます。ぼくは、たいあっぷだったりあきらなてーまがあったりするときは、いちしょうせつづつしゅをいれながらつくっていくほうがあうとおもいます。げーむやあにめといったひにちじょうてきなものはとくにそうですね。それから、こんかいはすばらしいえいぞうもつくっていただいて、そこにきょくがのることもきまっていたので、えいぞうにあわせるいみでもこまかくやっていきました。 Hiro : No, it is not common. Usually I sometimes go through and sing a few times, I think that it is often that you pick up a good place from among those. As for me, when I’m doing a tie-up or when there is a clear theme, I think that it is more suitable to touch up each bar while you’re making it. Especially with unusual things such as games and animation. Also, this time we had made a wonderful video, and since we had decided to put a song on that as well, so we went with doing it in fine details in the sense that it matches the video too.

佐藤 :　こんなに丁寧に時間を掛けて作っていくものなんだな、と本当に驚きました。レコーディングも8時間ほどスタジオを押さえていただいていたのですが、ま さかフルで使うことになるとは……。 さとう:　こんなにていねいにじかんをかけてつくっていくものなんだな、とほんとうにおどろきました。れこーでぃんぐも8じかんほどすたじおをおさえていただいていたのですが、まさかふるでつかうことになるとは……。 Sato : I was really surprised that the time you took was spent so carefully. Recording also held the studio down for about eight hours, but it indeed being turned out to be used in full … ….

Hiro :　やり方としては、どうしても時間がかかってしまいますね（笑）。 Hiro : For any method, no matter what, things will take a bit of time absolutely (laugh).

佐藤 :　レコーディングのときにHiroさんがものすごく気にかけて僕に話しかけてくださったのも印象的でした。レコーディングの時は会話などは極力しないも のなのかなと思っていました。 さとう:　れこーでぃんぐのときにHiroさんがものすごくきにかけてぼくにはなしかけてくださったのもいんしょうてきでした。れこーでぃんぐのときはかいわなどはきょくりょくしないものなのかなとおもっていました。 Sato :  I was also impressed that you Hiro suddenly caught up with me when you were recording. When doing recording, I thought that you shouldn’t be making conversations as much as possible.

Hiro :　自分でひとつテーマを掲げて作るときはエンジニアさんとしか話さないということもありますが、主題が自分ではない場合はディスカッションやコミュニ ケーションを重視しますね。今回であれば『オルサガ』を作っている方となんでもいいので色々と話して、そこから制作意図にしっかり合わせたいということで すね。それから、畑が違うものどうしの共同作業になるので、なんでも言いやすい雰囲気作りの面もあります。絶対あると思うんですよね「この歌詞は違うな」 とか「ここの歌いかたはこうしてほしいな」とか。そういうときに、主題を作った人たちからちゃんと意見を言ってもらえたほうが、いいものができますから。 Hiro:　じぶんでひとつてーまをかかげてつくるときはえんじにあさんとしかはなさないということもありますが、しゅだいがじぶんではないばあいはでぃすかっしょんやこみゅにけーしょんをじゅうししますね。こんかいであれば『おるさが』をつくっているほうとなんでもいいのでいろいろとはなして、そこからせいさくいとにしっかりあわせたいということですね。それから、はたけがちがうものどうしのきょうどうさぎょうになるので、なんでもいいやすいふんいきづくりのめんもあります。ぜったいあるとおもうんですよね「このかしはちがうな」とか「ここのうたいかたはこうしてほしいな」とか。そういうときに、しゅだいをつくったひとたちからちゃんといけんをいってもらえたほうが、いいものができますから。     Hiro : Sometimes we talk only with the engineers when we create a theme by ourselves, but we focus on discussions and communication if the subject is not by ourselves. This time, with anyone who makes “Hortensia Saga”, anything at all, we do a lot of talking (with them) and from there we want to tightly match to the design intention of the production, so to speak. And then, through the team work of different specialized fields, there would also be an aspect of having the atmosphere where it is easy to say anything. I think it will always be there, you know, things like “These lyrics are different” or “I want to do this singing method here” and such. At such times, through properly getting the opinions of the people who created the subject, we would be able to create something good.

佐藤 :　『オルサガ』はおかげさまで長く続くタイトルになりまして、チームとしても思い入れが強いですから、Hiroさんのようなスタンスで受け止めていただ けたのは本当にうれしいです。 さとう:　『おるさが』はおかげさまでながくつづくたいとるになりまして、ちーむとしてもおもいいれがつよいですから、Hiroさんのようなすたんすでうけとめていただけたのはほんとうにうれしいです。 Sato : Thanks to “Hortensia Saga” that has become a long-continuing title, and myself as a team member* too, since my emotional attachment to it is strong, I’m so so glad to be receiving a standpoint like yours, Hiro.

Hiro :　主役は『オルサガ』ですから。そこに僕たちのエッセンスが乗って、ファンによろんでいただけるものができれば。 Hiro:　しゅやくは『おるさが』ですから。そこにぼくたちのえっせんすがのって、ふぁんによろんでいただけるものができれば。 Hiro : The leading role (in this project) is “Hortensia Saga”. Our essence (as a band) is carried on it, it is something that we can do for our fans if that’s possible.

佐藤 :　では最後に『オルサガ』ファンにメッセージをお願します。 さとう:　ではさいごに『おるさが』ふぁんにめっせーじをおねがいします。 Sato : Finally, please give a message to “Hortensia Saga” fans.

Hiro :　まず『オルサガ』を遊んでいる方には、聴いて頂ければいろいろと詰め込んでいることがわかっていただけると思います。なので、曲の説明は不要です （笑）。ぜひ聴いてみてください。あえて直接的な言葉を使っていないところもありますが、いろいろと想像してもらえたらうれしいですね。逆に、 『REVIVER』を聴いて「いいな」と思ったら、『オルサガ』を遊んでみてほしいですね。より曲を楽しめると思います。『オルサガ』とマイファス、双方 のファンがつながるキッカケにもなればと思いますので、よろしくお願いします。 Hiro:　まず『おるさが』をあそんでいるほうには、きいていただければいろいろとつめこんでいることがわかっていただけるとおもいます。なので、きょくのせつめいはふようです（えみ）。ぜひきいてみてください。あえてちょくせつてきなことばをつかっていないところもありますが、いろいろとそうぞうしてもらえたらうれしいですね。ぎゃくに、『REVIVER』をきいて「いいな」とおもったら、『おるさが』をあそんでみてほしいですね。よりきょくをたのしめるとおもいます。『おるさが』とまいふぁす、そうほうのふぁんがつながるきっかけにもなればとおもいますので、よろしくおねがいします。 Hiro : First of all, I think that those who are playing “Hortensia Saga" will find that if you have the chance to listen to it, you will (already) cram in (your head) a lot of things. So, the explanation of the song is unnecessary (laugh). ＳＥＥＫＩＮＧ　Ａ　ＭＩＲＡＣＬＥ：

「駄目な子で、ごめんなさい。」 「こんな私を……叱ってくれますか？」

“I’m sorry for being so useless.” “Will you... scold me?”

…...日ごと衰弱していく大切な人。 叶うことならば、あの日のように私を叱りつけて欲しい。

...My loved one grows weaker with each passing day. If possible, I would want her to admonish me, just as she did on that day.

薄い眠りから覚めた時、私が居ない事に気付くはずだ。 心配をかけるかもしれない。 それが体に悪いことは知っている。

When she awakens from her faint slumber, she will surely realize that I am gone. I may be causing her a great deal of worry. I am aware that such a thing will only worsen her health.

しかしこれが彼女を救う唯一の方法ならば、私は進む。 たとえそれが、険しい道のりと知ろうとも。

Yet if this is the only means of saving her, then I will press on. I do not care if a long and arduous road awaits me.

ＴＨＥ　ＧＩＲＬ’Ｓ　ＣＯＮＶＩＣＴＩＯＮ：

彼女を蝕む病は衰えない。 何度替えても冷めない布の温かさは、不安という恐怖で私を包み込んだ。

The malady that plagues her knows no rest. The cloth on her forehead refuses to cool down, no matter how many times it is replaced ― its warmth grips me with a dreadful sense of unease.

だから私は縋った。 医師から聞いた眉睡物の伝承。 例えそれが偽りであろうと、手を伸ばした。

That is why I clung to it. An unlikely tale spun to me by the doctor. I reached for it, despite the possibility that it was little more than lies.

「もう、助けられるだけじゃ嫌なんだ。」 試練を成し遂げれば、彼女は私を認めてくれるはず。 もう、私のために無理をしないはず……。

“I’ve had enough of relying on other people.” If I am able to finish these trials, then she will surely acknowledge me. She will no longer have to push herself for my sake...

激しい砂嵐に目をしかめつつも、私の目は前を見据えていた。

Amidst the violent sandstorm, my eyes narrow as I focus on the path ahead.

ようやく見つけマシタ。

We’ve finally found her.

彼女がナビゲーターです。

That girl is the Navigator.

コノ女はきっと役に立つので利用してやるデス。

She’s definitely going to be useful, so go ahead and use her.

Ａ　ＦＡＬＳＥ　ＣＯＮＴＲＡＣＴ：

怪しげな人形が手を差し伸べてきた。 普段ならば、逃げ出すであろう異質な光景。 だが、私は手をとった。

A suspicious pair of puppets held out their hands to me. Under normal circumstances, I would have fled from such a strange sight. Yet I took their hands in mine.

姉を救う可能性が少しでも高まるならば、悪魔とも契約を結ぶ。 そんな意識が働いた。

Even a deal with the devil would be a small price to pay for a greater chance at saving my elder sister. Those were my thoughts.

「ねぇ。私を手伝ってくれる？」 「私は読めるんです。この石に書かれた文字が。」 「きっと役に立ちますよ。」

“Hey. Won’t you help me?” “I can read them. I can read the letters written on these stones.” “I’m sure I can be useful.”

そんな言葉が口をついた。 そして結ばれた、ひとときの協定。 固く手を繋ごうとも、協力者の瞳は「信用するな」と物語っていた。

Those were the words that left my mouth. Thus, a momentary pact was born. Though we had firmly joined hands, the eyes of my allies told me that they were not to be trusted.

ＴＲＩＡＬ　ＯＦ　ＢＬＵＥ：

「待ってください。石に何か書いてある。」 私は自らの有用性を示すため、石碑に刻まれた文字を読み上げた。

“Please wait. There’s something written on this stone.” I recited the words that were carved into the stone monument in an attempt to prove my worth.

「この場所では以下の行為を推奨す。」 色合わせの試練 人形たちが、カタカタと音を立てる。 前へ進め。と囃し立てる。

“The following deed is warranted in this place.” The Trial of Colour Matching. The puppets begin to produce rattling noises. They jeer at me with invitations to proceed.

それはとても奇妙で、気持ちの悪い光景。 だが、 「この試練を乗り越えたら、お姉ちゃんは私を認めてくれる。」 「もう助けてもらってばかりじゃだめなんだ。」

It was a bizarre and disgusting sight to behold. However... “My sister will acknowledge me if I can overcome these trials.” “I can’t keep relying on others.”

そんな気持ちが私を突き動かした。

Such feelings compelled me to step forward.

ＴＲＩＡＬ　ＯＦ　ＳＥＡＬＥＤ　ＭＡＧＩＣ：

「試練の掟を突破せし者よ。」 「次なる掟に身を委ねよ。」 黒い石に、無機質な文字が刻まれる。

“You have surmounted the law of this trial.” “Give yourself to the next law.” Inhuman symbols form upon the surface of the black stone.

そして訪れた暫しの休息。 協力者は私に、試練に挑む理由を尋ねた。

A brief respite then fell upon us. My allies wish to know why I have chosen to undergo these trials.

期待される答えと異なることを知りながら、純粋な思いを吐き出した。

When I regained my senses, I found myself in this world. Perhaps this was the land of the dead. If I remember correctly, I did in fact perish in that world.

だが、気づけば私は酷い姿になり、見知らぬ場所に来ていた。 そんな私を出迎えたのは暗き闇を纏った獣。

Still, I realized that my appearance had become something horrible, and that I arrived at an unfamiliar place. It was then that I was confronted by beasts clad in darkness.

荒々しく出迎えるその姿に、「あぁ。結局この世界も私を拒むんだね……」 生きる事を諦めたその瞬間。 「諦めるなっ！」 怒声が響いた……

I thought to myself as the ferocious beasts stood before me, “Oh. Even in this world, there is no place for me...” In that moment, I had given up on living. “Don’t give up!” Her screams echoed in my ears...

その人は脅威を払うと私を抱きしめた。

At long last, I overcame the final trial. Yet my body is no longer... “Alas. After all the trouble you went through to finish those trials...” “You’re spilling blood like a fountain.” “You’re going to die.” The puppets sneer at me. 

そんなことは、どうでもいい……。 「早く。行かなくちゃ。こ…れがあればお姉ちゃんも元気になる。」

That does not matter... “Hurry. I must hurry. As long as... I have this, my sister will be cured.”

これをみたらお姉ちゃんはどんな顔をするのだろうか？危ないことをして。と叱るのだろうか？よくやった。と初めて褒めてくれるのだろうか？

How will my sister react when she sees this, I wonder? Will she scold me for doing something so dangerous? Will she praise me for the very first time?

高鳴る鼓動と反比例して、意識は遠のく。 「早く、行かなくては。これを届けるために…...」 そんな満身創痍な私の前に、あの日と同じように狼が立ちはだかった……。

In stark contrast to my rapid heartbeat, my consciousness begins to fade away. “I must hurry. I must give this to her...” Wolves stand in the way of my battered body, just as they did on that fateful day...

Ravenous fangs rushed towards me. I closed my eyes. Sprays of warm blood drench my skin.

It was at that very moment that I happened to think back upon that day.

on the discrepancy between “asexual” in English & Japanese and confusion regarding demisexuality.

if you’re unfamiliar with ace terminology in Japanese, it may come as some surprise to you to know that Aセクシャル / アセクシャル, the Japanese word that is phonetically equivalent to and derived from the English word “asexual”, does not mean what “asexual” means in English.

while it is used at times as an umbrella term to refer to all aces, it’s often used both by aces and non-aces alike to refer specifically to what English speakers now commonly refer to as “aromantic asexuals”-- or rather, people who experience neither sexual nor romantic attraction. Japanese speakers use a different word entirely to refer to people who do not experience sexual attraction but who do experience romantic attraction: ノンセクシャル, a word that is phonetically equivalent to and derived from the English word “nonsexual”... despite the fact that word means something entirely different in English.

as this linguistic and cultural discrepancy is something that affects me personally not only as a native English-speaking ace living in Japan, but also as an ace who struggled with and subsequently rejects romance-based categorization for themself personally, i have vented off and on about this discrepancy for years. i’m also someone who has, at one point of another (or several), questioned being / identified as demisexual and bisexual / pansexual, so when a friend responded to one of my tweets questioning aloud things pertaining to both of these things that i’ve been musing about for years, i had (and still have) a lot to say despite exhaustion, anxiety and a 140 character limit.

how did “asexual” (Aセクシャル) come to mean “aro ace” and “nonsexual (ノンセクシャル) “(allo)ro ace” in Japanese?

why do people sometimes use demisexuality to mean attraction irregardless of gender?

please note: i am no historian, be it in regards to asexuality in the Anglosphere or in Japan and make no claim as to the accuracy of what i’ve said. everything i’ve said is just my personal experience, opinion and speculation.

@ stella_yuu (Yuu)　come to think of it, i've been wondering why ace and aro have come to be uniquely distinguished between as “asexual” and “nonsexual” in Japan. i mean, theoretically speaking aromantic sexual [people] could exist too, right... i also wonder why demisexual keeps getting used to mean "[attraction] regardless of gender" more often than "[attraction based on] an emotional bond.”

@ nighstar (Vesper) sorry to keep you waiting for a response! first i'd like to say one more time that everything i'm about to say is nothing more than my own personal opinion. furthermore, as a foreigner, my opinion is nothing more than the view point of an outsider. :/ my response has ⑩ parts and i apologize for the absurd length. 🙇①

why has aro ace become "asexual" and non-aro aces "nonsexual" in Japan? i'm guessing that it's due to infuence from how the word "asexual" was used in the Anglosphere in the early '00s. i'm not very familiar with the history of asexuality in Japan, but you might be interested in this http://www.asexual.jp/history… ②

when i first tried searching for the word "asexual" in 2002(?) romantic and sexual love wasn't clearly distinguished between in the Anglosphere. "asexual", as it was used at that time, was similar to how it's used in Japan today. while it wasn't long after that the Anglosphere began to distinguish between romantic and sexual orientations, "asexual" started being used in Japan before that happened.③ from there, the meaning of "asexual" steadily changed in the Anglosphere, but "asexual" in Japan didn't undergo the same change, instead it went down a seperate path from that of "asexual" in the Anglosphere. meanwhile, awareness began to grow in the Anglosphere about the distinction between romantic and sexual orientations and that distinction made its way to Japan.④ in the Anglosphere, "asexual" came to refer only to sexual orientation with a seperate word being used to refer to romantic orientation, but in Japan, rather than distinguishing between romantic and sexual orientations, a distinction was made between aces who don't experience romantic attraction and those who do. why "nonsexual"? it was probably adopted based on a misunderstanding of what the word means in English.⑤

people who are aro but not ace don't just theoretically exist, their existence is a fact. this is well known within the Anglosphere ace community, but people are bad at remembering it. such forgetfullness has been an ongoing problem that continues even today... :/⑥ on the other hand, even among aces awareness of the existence of people who do not experience romantic attraction but who do experience sexual attraction seems to be almost non-existent. that said, given the very words "asexual" and "nonsexual", that very way of dividing people and that way of thinking, such lack of awareness is understandable.⑦

about demisexuality, that's happened even in the Anglosphere... or rather, that shouldn't be in the past tense. i'm sure that it's still a thing even today, but with increasing awareness of pansexuality, i think people using demisexuality to mean "[attraction] regardless of gender" has been decreasing. ⑧

interestingly, it seems like there are a lot of asexuals (in the English sense of the word) as well as demisexuals who question whether they're bisexual or pansexual before discovering asexuality.⑨ you may think that odd, but the line between "[attraction] to anyone regardless of gender" and "[attraction] to no one regardless of gender" is really fuzzy, don't you think? especially for aces for whom romantic and sexual orientation itself is fuzzy. that's not true for everyone, but that's been my experience at least... and that's all i have to say. sorry for the length! 💦 ⑩

aroでAセクじゃないは理論上だけではなく確実にいる。英語園のAセクのコミュではそれはよく知られてるけど、人は忘れがち者だ。その忘れがち性は何年かけて今にも続いてる問題だ…（汗） ⑥ 逆に日本ではAセクの人の間にも恋愛指向を持たずに性的指向ある人がいるっていう知識が殆どないみたいだ。まあ、Aセクとノンセクっていう言葉で、そういう区別仕方・考え方でそれはそうしかならないだろう。 ⑦

 デミセクシャルについて、英語園でもそのことがあった…　と言うか、過去形じゃない。恐らく今でもあるけど、パンセクシャルについて知識が高まるとともにデミセクシャルは「性別に関わらない」という意図で使われることが低まっている気がする。⑧  

面白いことにデミセクシャルの人だけではなくAセクシャル(英語の意味でね）の人でもAセクシャリティーを知る前に自分はバイセクシャルかパンセクシャルかをクエスチョニングすることが多いらしい。 ⑨  おかしいだと思うかも知らないが、「性別に関わらず誰もが好き」と「性別に関わらず誰も好きじゃない」という境界線は本当にあいまいじゃない？特に恋愛・性的指向そのものがあいまいのAセクの人にとってね。皆はそうじゃないけど、せめて自分はそうに感じてる… 返事は以上です。長くてごめん！💦⑩

Had this cover arrangement idea back in May 2018, but was busy and couldn't start recording it until the end of June. 

Right before I started recording, this casual thought came up to me to search through the net to confirm if anybody else already had come up with similar ideas, ending up me being stumbled upon this beautifully made acoustic piano sound cover version:

Being struck and fascinated with this one, and also quite by the accident this cover version had pretty close key as mine, I decided to show my salute to this person's work, and expanded my arrangement as an homage and respect, while still maintaining my own original idea and the key. 

BTW, sorry for my sloppy work, bad playing technique, no quantizing, and no mastering ;)

I tend to put more weight on seizing the ideas to make it real rather than take time for completion and losing the initial vibe. 

This whole idea came to me while me being surrounded by this diffuse and elusive concern all the time about the entire world squeaking in pain, about all these conflicts and collisions of various beliefs, thoughts, ways of life, powers, hemispheres, destructions to our natural and historical heritages, and so on. 

When I was a little kid, I spent part of my childhood in another country, another nation, completely different from my own, as a minority. The cultural shock, and all the experiences in the vast majestic mother nature made tremendous impact to my life, and they still keep inspiring me greatly, stirring my mind, driving me endlessly to spin out something that even I myself can't understand. 

Justice is different from nation to nation. It is imprinted to us through our education as part of our framework in our mind. To understand the others we must choose a hard way to break our frameworks that we take it for granted, imprinted through our education, and reach out to the others, which is a tough job but it can be done, at least to some extent. 

The outside world is a lot more diverse than we can possibly imagine. 

Even if we can't understand the each other ultimately, we can still co-exist, and eventually co-live, even cooperate in some occasions. We do conflict against each other but encountering with others will provide ideas different and unthinkable from our own. Therefore, we essentially need others, in order for all of us to live. 

We are all symbiotic beings on this our only one planetary home. 

Hence this title; Diversity is people's both tragedy and possibility. 

Yes, what we know about ourselves, about the nature, about this world we live in, about the universe, is still so little, and we are only allowed to live on this our only one planetary home. 

Yet still, we all are the means of the universe to know itself.

このカヴァー案、アレンジ案は、2018 年の５月ごろには、もう出来上がっていたのだが、忙しくてなかなかレコーディングできず。

で、６月下旬になって、いざ形にすべく録音に着手しようと思った矢先、ふと思いつきで「他に私と似たよーなことやったはる人おらんやろぉなー」って軽ーく検索してみて驚き、なんとも美しいアレンジを、しかもアコピの音色いっぱつだけでやっている人がいた。

あまりの美しさに心打たれ、しかも偶然にも私が考えてたアレンジと似たキーでやっていることにうれしくなり、この人へのリスペクト、オマージュを、ちょっと自分の作品に加えてみた。

まぁ、いつもどおり、しょせん日曜シンセシストなので、テンポよれよれ指もつれまくりクォンタイズもマスタリングもしてません、ごめんなさい ^^;;

完成度を追求するよりアイディアが熱いうちに形にしたいので、スケッチブック状態な Vimeo / YouTube です。

そもそもこのカヴァーをしようと思ったのは、軋みゆく今の世界を案じていたから。

さまざまな信仰、思想、生き方、力、圏、などなど、それらがあいいれることなく衝突し、火花を散らす。そして自然や歴史が破壊されていく。その現実を前に、漠とした憂鬱な気持ちでいるうちに、なんとなく降ってきた。

私は幼いころ、まったく異なる国、異なるひとびとの中で暮らし、マイノリティとして生きた。カルチャーショックはもちろん、故郷では想像もつかない壮大で荘厳な大自然での経験の数々、それらはとてつもないインパクトを、まだ幼い私に与え、その衝撃波で今なお私はこころかき乱され、なにか自分でもよく分からないものを、なんだかつむぎだし続けている。

正義は国によって違う。それは教育によって刷り込まれる。教育によって刷り込まれた枠組みを、あたりまえと思っていた存在基盤を、あえて、ちからをこめてぶち破り、他者へ手をさしのべて、理解する、それはおそろしく、たいへんなことなんだけど、少なくともある程度までなら、誰にでもできる。それだけでもいい。

外の世界は、想像をはるかに超えた、多様性に満ち満ちているのだ。

せめてそれさえ分かれば、それでいい。

たとえ究極的には相互理解できなくとも、他者を理解できなくとも、他者との共存はできる。そして共存から共生へ、ついにはおりにふれて手をたずさえてちからをあわせることも、できる。

時に他者とは衝突もするが、他者と遭遇することは、自分たちだけでは思いもつかなかった考えや思考を得られることでもあり、そこから自分の限界を打破することもできる。

だから、ひとは本質的に他者を必要としているのだ。

わたしたちは、この唯一の惑星を家とする、共生体なのだ。

というわけで、このタイトルをつけてみました「多様性こそは、人の悲劇と可能性である」

そう、私たちが私たち自身について知っていることは、私たちが住んでいるこの世界について知っていることは、この大自然や宇宙について知っていることは、まだまだほんの少しでしかない。そして、わたしたちは、この唯一の惑星に棲むことを、ゆるされているだけに過ぎない。

それでも、わたしたちは、この宇宙が宇宙自身を知るためにつくられし手段である。
