Finished!! After letting this yarn sit in my stash for somewhere around 11ish years, I knit up this sweater in about a month. Pretty happy with how it turned out. I slightly cropped the length to wear it over dresses and I shortened the sleeves to elbow length (because whenever I wear long sleeves I just push them up to my elbows anyway). I used 13 of the 20 skeins I had in stash. Wordy post ahead! : I don’t normally do KALs besides a super informal participation in #stashdash... however, I have been watching @knittingvicariously (hosted by @dunderknit), who is hosting the #blamedunderknitalong, which is the perfect excuse to cast on for a Hitofude (by Hiroko Fukatsu) out of @madelinetosh Tosh Merino Light in Coquette that I’ve been hoarding for a minimum of three years! 🤭🙀 I even bought it with the intention of knitting this cardigan! So, I swatched last night, I cleared one of my knot bags to use, and I’m casting on today! Yes of course. I always make copies notes on a pattern in knitting. That way when I leave it under the bed for 6 months I know exactly where to start from when I pick it up again. 🤣🤣🤣🤣 I wish! Someday, maybe I'll learn to do this. But for now I've just lost an hour of my life sorting it out, thinking I knew where I was, then ripping back to start again where I actually was. Sigh! Still, all fine now and I'm back on track. And as is the way with these things I remember why I set it aside. I love gadgets that drastically improve the enjoyment of my knitting. Today will mostly be spent going round in circles - both metaphorically and in my knitting. At home I'll be attempting to reign in the school holiday chaos by endlessly repeating myself and trying to declutter in the midst of the boys' whirlwind. A few people asked about the rounded toe on my latest sock - specifically about the fit. This is the best photo I have to show it but it is really comfortable. A little roomier than a standard toe but so far no complaints at all. To work the toe was super simple too. On 64st: K6, k2tog to end K6 rnds K5, k2tog to end K5 rnds K4, k2tog to end K4 rnds K3, k2tog to end K3 rnds K2, k2tog to end K2 rnds K-1, k2tog to end K-1 end K2tog to end Break yarn and thread back through rem 8st. This is me - running triumphantly past the #fofriday finishing line, waving my Windswept sweater as I go. Another 1000m towards my #stashdash goals and still plenty of yarn left over - Rowan Felted Tweed is nothing if not economical. Now I just find to find a plain vest to wear underneath it. I'm not generally a fan of Rowan yarns but I'll make an exception for Rowan Felted Tweed - the colours, the texture and the lightweight nature of this yarn means that this is one of my favorites to knit with. In my increasingly futile attempts to reach my 10k #stashdash goal I have resorted to pulling out long forgotten WIPs. This one is Windswept by @tincanknits which I conservatively estimate to be at least a year old. I had done the yoke, separated the sleeves and then stalled. Then I forgot where I was in the lace panel.
