The Bad Kids and The Rat Grinders on different quests but end up working together because it was all connected. Then everyone just has a bad time because they’re equally suspicious of one another and would not share their notes and everything they do becomes a competition. The Hangvan becoming the referee and the Hangman is just an enabler.

The only time they agreed on something was scolding their wizards for having run out of spells in the middle of a fight because they kept casting it on each other and the clerics had to heal them up every time (seriously thinking if they should just let them stay down for the meantime). They only stop antagonizing each other when the enemy tries to target one of them (because only themselves can kill the other).

During school, Adaine spends all of her time in the library and most nights in Mordred Manor learning so much spells to try to one up the other party’s wizard. Oisin feels a little smug that she’s taking precious time to do something that involves him even if it’s out of spite and secretly helps her: leaving spell notes in library books he knows she’ll read, setting aside books to the librarian for her, using summons to leave coffee on her table in secret, placing a pillow and the softest blanket on her when she falls asleep studying, leaving a perfectly organized binder of all the information she needs for a spell, putting her favorite snacks on her desk and in her locker, even going to Fig and Kristen to make sure she is resting properly.

Their friends are all very aware of this and betting on how long this lasts before they kill each other or kiss each other. Adaine is oblivious, or forcing herself not to notice what are clearly Oisin’s handwriting and her friends teasing. They both will NEVER admit that they like their rivalry and the time they spend taunting each other.

Some things I think are odd to look back on post chp3 and 4 with the idea of the egg events being about Kris’s trauma, are the noelle page about the Special Egg and spamtons own apparent knowledge of the egg guy(?). The latter could be more brushed off as just something for the sweepstakes but I hesitate to do so when there’s been other things from it that have had Lots of relevancy now. The manifestations of the man in the light world could have been brushed off as something in Kris’s head, especially with the idea that it’s tied to their trauma now. But if he’s something that’s able to get to other people (including Us if you look at the valentine letter as a meta thing) im not so sure what this guys deal is anymore.

Whether this being is a ghost, or one of Bills tricks I've yet to discover… There are more dubious encounters such as the whispers, spine shivering chills, and of the brief shadowy figures I see down dark hallways.
