I was looking through AO3's Bering and Wells tag for zero-comment stories to comment on for the Zero Comment Challenge, and found this, and I can't believe there are no comments on it. It's so good! A very very VERY early Bering and Wells fic, angsty and light-hearted and lovely, let's all go and show it some love!

Chapter two

Summary:

You press yourself against the dry-erase board. “What do you want to do?”

He shrugs his broad shoulders. “I’d like to know you more, if you don't mind." You lick your lips. Izuku watches the motion and asks, "How much fun would it be if you leave?"

You shake your head. “I have nothing to give you.” It's true.

Izuku cocks his head. His voice lowers, "There's plenty you can give me. Won't you be a lamb for me?" He bites the tip of his gloves and slides it off of his hand.

The school alarms are blaring. The hairs on your arms stand straight. Everyone bumps into each other to exit the school gates. Heroes are shouting on the school grounds. Police sirens wail as they approach the school. People are panicking, clamoring about how this has not happened in U.A. in forever, and wondering how villains could get past the security system.

Your heart is thumping in your ears as you look around in the empty classroom you were pushed into due to the hysteria. The plan is to wait for the horde of people to pass and then exit the room safely. That is out the window now that you see a cute guy with green curly hair with round eyes to match standing behind you.

The guy stills, a little surprised by your appearance. His face soon fades to a grin. At first glance, he looks like he’d be your age if not just a tad older. He’s dressed formally in a white button-up with a black vest and a tie. He looks normal until you actually look at his smile. That saccharine smile is sharp and his vibrant green eyes tell something sinister. There’s something wrong with him. 

You're proven right when he presses one of his hands to the wall beside your head and the other fiddles with a knife he flipped out. He quickly puts the blade back.  

“Don’t mind that it’s just a habit.” The green-haired boy gives his name. “I'm Izuku, and you are?”

Your eyes are wide, and your voice is shaky. “I have to go."

"Come on pretty, that can't be your name."

"Please sir, let me leave." You shrink under his gaze. He hums. His cheeks soon match the pink shade of his lips.  “Don't be so stiff, pretty. I'm just talking to you." 

His gloved fingers give your cheek a gentle stroke. “Say my name, I want to hear it. See if it sounds right.” You want to say no, to turn around and run for your life. “Izuku.”

He shivers in delight. There is something lit in his eyes that you can't place. His thumb traces along your bottom lip. The sun peeks through the curtains and shines along his cheekbone, settling on his freckles. Whatever lurks beneath the surface doesn't lessen how handsome he is. 

You swallow and lick your lips. “I, um, have to go. It was nice meeting you Izuku.” He pouts but doesn’t move his arm. “Why? We haven’t finished talking.”

“School is being evacuated; I really should go.” You go forward to encourage him to release you. Izuku doesn’t move his arm. His leather-gloved fingers strum on the wall by your head creating a gentle sound. Although the action is normal, the implication is obvious. Izuku, whoever he is, is not going to let you leave. 

“I’d love to talk more. Stay with me.” His eyes are closed, and his head is tilted. The gesture seems so innocent and cute. A handsome guy showing interest in you would make you warm and tingly inside if this had been normal circumstances. No, despite being intimidated, this is a little flattering. Morally, it's considered wrong. You should be screaming for help and not thinking of him.  

“Izuku,” You clear your throat. “The teachers are going to look for me.”

“Coincidentally, they’re looking for me too. Let’s make the most of it.” 

You press yourself against the dry-erase board. “What do you want to do?”

He shrugs his broad shoulders. “I’d like to know you more, if you don't mind." You lick your lips. Izuku watches the motion and asks, "How much fun would it be if you leave?"

You shake your head. “I have nothing to give you.” It's true.

Izuku cocks his head. His voice lowers, "There's plenty you can give me. Won't you be a lamb for me?" He bites the tip of his gloves and slides it off of his hand. Izuku's green eyes never leave yours. 

He leans in and pecks your lips. You blink your eyes like an owl, completely and totally shocked. He softly kisses you with his eyes open. Tingles and flutters litter your skin as his lips devour you. This is wrong yet here you are clenching your thighs and letting him kiss you. Could this magnetism be a quirk? You stutter. “I don’t know what you want-”

He sucks on a spot you didn’t even know was sensitive. 

There’s nothing inherently wrong, right? He hasn’t done anything really menacing (yet). 

Your legs spread enough for him to fit his thick thigh between them. He kisses the column of your throat as you rub along him. You can't do this. Despite how warm you are and the throbbing you feel below, you should push him away. Izuku is a villain, you’re sure of that. You need to run away, not grind on his thigh as he leaves sloppy kisses from your collarbone to your ear, edging his soft lips to yours. Right?

Screw it.

His hand slips under your shirt and bra. Thankfully, his hand is warm as it works your breast. You softly gasp when you swirl your hips. The one hand stationed in your hair decided to trail along your warm body and stop your movements on his thigh. You close your eyes as he slides into your underwear and swirls the bud that begs for attention. He kisses you the entire time, only separating from you when he takes your underwear and pockets it.

With ease, he slides a finger in you. Izuku waits for a second, relishing your gasps. Smoothly, he pumps his finger. The palm of his hand presses against your clit as he goes. Suddenly, he enters another finger, this time not waiting. Izuku curls his thick fingers, grazing along that spot that makes you whimper. 

You rock your hips and claw his back to anchor you. With every move is an electric shock that makes you wetter as seconds pass. The school alarm is still blaring and drowns out your moans and his laugh. You throw your head back against the board. Izuku’s thumb rushes on your clit. His eyes go to the door. With a smirk he says, “We’re gonna have to be a little faster, lamb.”

 Mindlessly, you nod. Breathily heavily, you continue to kiss him as you rotate your hips. He sucks behind your ear and down your neck. He takes a hold of your hips in a tight grip. You grab onto anything you can for balance. 

Are the alarms still going off? Is the school aware that he’s still here? 

You shouldn’t be doing this. You shouldn’t be pulling his hair from the back of his head with one hand and grabbing the edge of the dry-erase board with the other. This is treacherous, terrible of you to be throbbing for him. Relishing the feeling he’s giving and loving how he’s promising you more. 

Without another thought, you unbutton his slacks and slide your hand into them. He moans against your ear. Your hand glides with ease from the pre cum that leaked from his thick tip. Your hand goes faster and faster, much to his delight. Other than the warmth that’s happening again, you can’t focus on anything other than what it is in your hand. 

“Cum for me.” He whispers against your lips. He adds another finger to the pleasure and more pressure to your clit. 

Finally, it happens. He gasps and shoots a warmth that dribbles onto your hand and the floor. The heroes would be so disappointed that your toes are curled, and your back is arched with Izuku’s name on your lips. Like a wreck, those thoughts crash as cries of pleasure fill the room. 

“Time’s up, pretty.” You're breathless when he releases his hold on you. He's stronger than you thought and prettier when his cheeks are an even deeper shade of pink. Izuku separates himself and looks down at you with just as much intensity he had before this. He pulls up his trousers and smirks at you. 

Izuku leans to you and gives you a kiss. He pulls out a handkerchief and wipes your hand the best it can. 

“Until next time.” He promises with a kiss on your hand. Your face is warm. 

“Stop!” You’re knocked out of your trance when your teachers barge in with their weapons and quirks ready to fight. You’re quick to lower your skirt and adjust your shirt before they look at you. Izuku chuckles and sucks on his fingers once again and then finger guns them as he falls out of the window. You shriek and run to the window. He isn’t there.

“There was the mastermind we never caught.”

“I thought All For One or Shigaraki was the mastermind.” Dread settles in your stomach. Aizawa shakes his head no. “A few years ago, there was a student that made his way to the hero course and used that as a guise to do what he really wanted to do.”

A few years ago, All For One and the heroes fought and surprisingly, the heroes won. No one could figure out how they won and how Shigaraki died. Everything about that didn’t make sense. The heroes were completely outclassed and outnumbered. Over time, the world started to heal, forgetting the past and questions. 

How was he able to get away with it? This is the first time anyone’s said anything. Because everything is so secret, it’s best not to admit what happened in the classroom. That you let a villain finger you and were willing to let him do more had it not been for them busting in. 

It’s a secret you’ll take to the grave. No way would anyone forgive you. Hell, you can’t even forgive yourself for still wanting him.

“What did he want to do?”

Aizawa’s dark eye stare blankly into yours. With a solemn voice, he answers, “Paint the world red. He said it’s his favorite color. At least that's what he laughed about. His true intentions were never stated."

You’ve heard of a “Deku” in passing but never "Izuku Midoriya”. When the school was being evacuated, the break in a few years ago was brought up. No one mentioned Izuku or the mastermind of it all. What Aizawa’s telling you is new. 

Why did everyone keep it a secret? How did he manage to go through the hero course undetected? There are so many questions and no answers. By the look on Aizawa’s face, you aren’t getting any. Not anytime soon, at least. 

Yeah, you should keep to yourself what really happened in the classroom.

You open your bedroom door and lock it behind you. The dark room lights up with a flick of your finger. You set your things down and take off your shoes. It's been days since you've saw him. After finding out who he is (somewhat), you should be doing cartwheels that he's gone. So, why aren't you? Instead, your head is down. Rather than rejoicing, you still think of him and his touch. The time you two had was short and not enough to cement an opinion of him as a person. 

Right as you sigh, a song comes on. The acoustic melody plays just as softly as the dim lights in your room. 

“You never did tell me your name.” 

Izuku Midoriya stands in the middle of your room with what appears to be a dangerous smile. He tosses your missing underwear to the side.

Water Fest Entry 2024- Surf's Up!

I really like drawing dragons on surfboards/skateboards, so when I saw the Dusty Boi pose, I kinda had to. The water fought me to the end, though, I swear! Should be compatible with any tertiary gene not named Angler (or, kinda, Batty) though!

(also submitted my water-werewolf accent from last year because why not, but honestly I wanted to poke that a bit so of the two, I hope this one wins)

When Zedaph had first found her in the scrapyard, she’d been little more than a telegraph sounder. She wasn't even capable of making dihs or dahs, just dots and dashes. She was, by every definition of the word, useless; discarded, unuseable, utterly inutile… Broken. But Zedaph had never believed in such a word. Things were never really broken; just… temporarily decommissioned! They could be in states of disrepair, but never beyond repair. Everything could always be mended, rebuilt, improved; everything could always be fixed. That was why he came to the scrapyard in the first place. Zedaph knew what it was like to feel broken. He felt sympathy for every machine discarded by its creator in a wasteland of flotsam and jetsam, deserted and dejected. And so, whenever he wandered across one of these poor orphaned apparatuses, he felt it was his duty to try to give them what their inventor had not: A home. A purpose. Besides, it was much easier to fix an abandoned machine than to make one from scratch, especially back when he hadn't had the funding to afford his own materials. Upon closer inspection, it looked like her developer had intended for her to be a translator of sorts. A humanoid polygotic interpreter AI which had been designed to serve as an assistant to foreign diplomats and ambassadors. Scavengers had had their way with her, however, and so she didn't even have the tools left to serve as a functional morse code transliterator, let alone a functional world-wide translator. There was a twisted sort of irony in the fact that the AI meant to translate for others was unable to even properly translate her own thoughts and feelings into words, able to process the words being spoken but never able to understand them. Able to talk but never able to speak. A translator who couldn't even translate herself.

For the first few weeks when Zed had been working on fixing her transmitter, she always kept repeating the same string of sounds: Dot, dot, dash. Dot, dot, dash. She made the noise so often, it became an association, and Zed decided that was just what he would call her in meantime - a bit of a mouthful, sure, but wasn't Dot Dot Dash a better name then Unnamed Abandoned Appartus Number 21? It was just a temporary title until he found a way to get her communications sorted and she could come up with their own name, anyway. Though it turns out, she had been saying her own name, in a way: Dot, dot, dash. E-E-T. Ease-Enhancing Translator. Her hostname. He'd only figured that out when he found the marque on her forehead about three weeks into her repair. For a genius, he could be a little bit stupid, sometimes. Maybe really stupid. When he did finally figure out how to repair her transmissions, for about a month she was stuck only speaking in Dutch, because he'd accidentally selected the system's default of Netherlandic as his preferred language instead of his own of English in his excitement to get her up and running. And, with her operating system now in a foreign language, it was incredibly difficult to figure out how to turn on her bilateralism. Not his brightest moment. But it didn't mean it didn't lead to bright moments. Even though they couldn't communicate, at least not through language, that didn't mean they couldn't communicate in other ways. That didn't mean that, over that month, he didn't learn that she was an absolute menace at Mario Kart (Guess the Dash part of her name really rung true!), that she'd become an immediate fanatic of Hamilton, and that Sesame Street was her favourite comfort show. Just because they couldn't exchange words didn't mean they couldn't exchange glances, exchange touches, exchange laughs, exchange smiles. Just because he couldn't understand a word she said didn't mean he couldn't understand that he was falling head over heels for her. It took an embarrassing amount of time and effort, but eventually, inevitably, he finally managed to repair her communication system. And, finally, they managed to have their first conversation.

"So… what's your name?" It was a bit odd, asking the question; such a simple, innocent question, but it felt wrong. It was the sort of thing you asked somebody you just met. But they hadn't just met… not really. It felt like they'd known each other for years. All their lives. And, yet, these were the first words they'd ever spoken to each other. He - literally - knew her innerworkings inside and out, and yet, he didn't even know her name. They knew everything about each other, but at the same time, nothing at all. The robot replied with a simple answer to a simple question: "Dot, Dot, Dash." "Oh — oh my goddess, oh dear, oh no — did I accidentally set you back to Morse Code again?!" Oh, this was horrendous, he'd been trying to help but he'd put her back all the way back to square one— "No, no," A jittery, high-pitched sound came out of the android's voicebox, a soft laugh as she reeled Zed's hand away from her inner panel. "That's my name." "It is?" Zed asked, baffled and still slightly breathless from the scare, before he jumped slightly with the startled realisation, "Oh — oh! Oooh, Because, that's what I've been calling you — no, no, nonono, that's — that doesn't have to be your name, you see, I just… well, it felt awful drab calling you by a model number, and you always used to go dot, dot, dash!, So I was just using it as a placeholder, which, I… which I am realising, was perhaps slightly insensitive, it's little better then calling you boop beep bop, now that I'm thinking about it, it would be like naming a dog woof woof… Oh my gosh, I am so sorry—" "— I like it." "—Oh, I'm such a dunce, imagine calling a duck quack quack, or a chicken cluck clu— wait, you… what?" "Yeah!" She smiled. "It's silly! Who cares if it's a bit on-the-nose?" She booped his nose for emphasis before she continued, "It feels like me." "O—oh! Well… well, in that case. It's… It's nice to meet you, Dot Dot Dash! I'm Zedaph." He held a hand out for her to shake out of cordiality. Dot stared at his outstretched hand dubiously, her features almost betraying offence at his attempt at courtesy, enough to make him almost begin to worry it had been a test to see if he'd fall for calling her such an offensive name and he'd fallen for it, like an idiot… and before he had a chance to profusely apologise again and retract both his hand and his statement, she abruptly grabbed him by his offered hand and pulled him in… …to a hug. "Zedaph… I've watched you fling an oreo from your forehead into your mouth on multiple occasions, you once bit into an onion like an apple and then rubbed it on your face to make yourself cry, you sleep with a mint condition package of Minions playing cards underneath your pillow, your favourite colour is red even though everything you own is pink… I already know you, Zed. And you know me. Just because we didn't know each others' names doesn't mean we didn't know each other… and it certainly doesn't mean this is our first time meeting. This isn't an introduction… it's just… finally getting a chance to say hello." "O—oh." Zed felt his voice crack. There was nothing between them now, no barrier, language or otherwise. His voice was soft as he whispered, "Hello." Her voice was softer, a smile on her lips, as she whispered back, "Hallo."

Not another word fell from either of their lips. They didn't need words. Sometimes, actions were more powerful than words. And their lips' actions spoke louder than any sentence they could have strung.

Safe to say, everybody on Hermitcraft loved Dot. And not just because she was one of the most talented people on the server - which she was, indisputably. She'd been built as an interpreter, but her skills were far from confined to linguistics…. she made the most thrilling commercials and logos for the shops in the Shopping District in all of it's history: Lookie Lookie at My Bookie, Shade-E-E's, Beefy Stores, Lamps Plus, ODEA… that was just to name a few successful bussinesses' whose success could wholly be attributed to Dot. She was also an absolute marvel when it came to the political field, somehow simultaneously making adverts for both Mumbo, Scar, and Plopper's mayor campaigns without either party realizing she was also advertising for every opposition, playing every side of the spectrum. And then, later, she pulled the exact same thing with HEP, The Podzol Party, and The Mycelium Resistance… This feat was one that could either be attributed to her astounding intelligence or the Hermits' astounding lack of intelligence. She was also a stupefying film director, and, in a similar vein, a stupefying music video director! Maybe too stupefying of a music video director. He still had nightmares about Bohemian Keralisody. And he couldn't help but still be a little lingeringly offended that both Poultry Man and Iskallman got their own fan edits but Wormman, the significantly cooler superhero of the server, got ziltch. Not that it was personal, just an astute observation from an outsider with no stakes in the superhero business whatsoever. He really didn't get why Poultryman of all people was her favourite superhero… to the point she'd requested he manufacture her a pair of bionic chicken wings. She even had him provide her with a chicken soundboard so she could communicate with her new brethern… which she had specifically requested not be made with real chickens' voices, as they could not consent to being recorded and doing so would infringe upon their rights, so the soundboard ended up just being Zed going buck, buck, buckawk! into a microphone for her at various pitches and inflections to use as she saw fit. She even ended up making an alter ego by the name of Stanley in an attempt to become Poultryman's sidekick, despite the fact there were much cooler superheroes out there to sidekick for besides a chicken in a trenchcoat. For completely random example: Wormman. Wormman was much cooler! And actually looking for sidekicks! Not that Zed was jealous. Not at all! Just a third-party observation.

Anyways. You'd think, surely, being the top graphic designer, commercial producer, film producer, and music video producer in the game was impressive enough of a resume… no, her awesomeness didn't stop there, not even close. She also dabbled in the armour stand business, and even further, became one of the server's best castle architects. Which was quite was a feat, given it seemed every season at least somebody had to build a grand castle of some sorts. But her castles were better than all of them - better then the NHO Castle, The Red Sky Bay Castle, Coe's Quest Castle, Wels' Cathedral, Bdubs' Castle, The Area 77 Castle, Stress' Ice Castle, RentheKing's Castle, The… wow, Zed was just realizing, Hermitcraft really did have a lot of castles. But, digressing! Her castles were the best castles. And that wasn't even just him being biased in his girlfriend's favour - that was just a fact. If monarchy on Hermitcraft didn't have a reputation for ending with a HoTgUy to the face, he would have crowned her Queen of Hermitcraft. It seemed the only thing she couldn't do was hit the high note in Hamilton's Burn… an feat she was coming closer and closer to achieving every day, which terrified Zed, for he was sure once she did so she'd become the epitome of perfection on all fronts and would transcend this mortal plane in a state of sublime quintessence.

Luckily for Zed, though, Dot had no intent to transcend. As much as Zed raved about her accomplishments, which were impressive in their own right, she wasn't going anywhere while she hadn't completed her greatest accomplishment of all. Her life's mission. Dot wanted to make sure nobody ever struggled like she had again. Words, vocabulary, verbality… Language itself was it's own 55-pin ladder puzzle. She was built to be a translator, and a translator she would be… not just for other languages, but for languages within languages, for inflections and undertones and connotations and implications that might as well have been their own language. She didn't want to let linguistic barriers to prevent somebody from living their best life… from saying hi to the love of their life. If she'd given up trying to speak English, she'd have never gotten the chance to tell Zed she loved him in words he would understand. And if he had given up on repairing her auditory processor, she'd have never gotten the chance to understand when he told her he loved her in words she'd understand. She still had a long way to go to be the global translator she was built to be, she didn't speak near seven-thousand languages nor with the fluency she would have liked, but that was okay. Because one of the languages she could speak was English - and, if anybody struggled with the language, just like she used to, she wanted to be there to help. To be what Zed had been to her — a teacher, a friend, and a crutch. The first person she helped, of course — coming full-circle — was Zedaph himself. The conversation went a little something like this: "Zed, dear, could you bring Danny's leash downstairs?" "Hm?" "I asked if could you bring Danny's leash downs—" "Come again?" "I SAID COULD YOU BRING DANNY'S LE—" "PARDON??" And that was how they learned that being in constant proximity to loud industrial machinery and exploding himself for comedic effect on a near-daily basis was not very good for his eardrums. It didn't take her long to diagnosis him with partial hearing loss, prescribe him with proper ear protection, and invent something to help. CCs she called it, or Closed Captions. Not a very original name, but it got the point across! She never really understood Zed's tendency to give things elaborate names like The Chickenerator, or Zombie Plinko, or The Celestial Cosmodrome… well, actually, she supposed she couldn't blame him for that one, but, the point with the first two still stood! The CCs were a simple device; a pair of contact-lenses that provided real time, accurate translations of what was being said in the corner of the wearer's vision. It was even toggleable! A subtle way to get subtitles in your subsidiary. And it wasn't soon after she'd made Zedaph his pair that word spread, and GeminiTay appeared at her doorstep to politely inquire what it could cost to have a similar device manufactured for herself. Gem didn't suffer from quite the same plight as Zed, but instead with an auditory processing disorder, which made Dot realise how helpful her invention could actually be to the Hermit masses… whether hard-of-hearing hermits, second-language hermits, hermits with auditory processing disorders, or even just hermits who preferred reading over listening… She was helping people. Even if only two, the fact she could even just help two people struggle a little bit less with the language she had struggled with for so long made it worth it. It made it so, when Zed praised her for how indisputably awesome she was, she could smile, and say, without hesitation, "I know!"

"In an unprecedented move, Anthem Blue Cross Blue Shield plans representing Connecticut, New York and Missouri have unilaterally declared it will no longer pay for anesthesia care if the surgery or procedure goes beyond an arbitrary time limit, regardless of how long the surgical procedure takes. The American Society of Anesthesiologists calls on Anthem to reverse this proposal immediately.

Anesthesiologists provide individualized care to every patient, carefully assessing the patient’s health prior to the surgery, looking at existing diseases and medical conditions to determine the resources and medical expertise needed, attending to the patient during the entire procedure, resolving unexpected complications that may arise and/or extend the duration of the surgery, and working to ensure that the patient is comfortable during recovery.

Payment for anesthesia services is based on several factors, including the exact amount of time for anesthesiologists to deliver care preoperatively, during the operation, and when transitioning the patient to the recovery unit afterwards. With this new policy, Anthem will arbitrarily pre-determine the time allowed for anesthesia care during a surgery or procedure. If an anesthesiologist submits a bill where the actual time of care is longer than Anthem's limit, Anthem will deny payment for the anesthesiologist’s care. With this new policy, Anthem will not pay anesthesiologists for delivering safe and effective anesthesia care to patients who may need extra attention because their surgery is difficult, unusual or because a complication arises.

“This is just the latest in a long line of appalling behavior by commercial health insurers looking to drive their profits up at the expense of patients and physicians providing essential care,” said Donald E. Arnold, M.D., FACHE, FASA. “It’s a cynical money grab by Anthem, designed to take advantage of the commitment anesthesiologists make thousands of times each day to provide their patients with expert, complete and safe anesthesia care. This egregious policy breaks the trust between Anthem and its policyholders who expect their health insurer to pay physicians for the entirety of the care they need.”

As promised, we're back with a new bracket! However, we're doing things a little differently this time. Rather than taking the data for seeding directly from a ranked list, we want you guys to be a part of the seeding process!

This survey contains a list of over 100 ships, pulled from centreoftheselights's AO3 ship stats for 2023 and 2024, and Tumblr's year in review, as well as a few submissions that are not on either list but are considered iconic or historically important. It asks two questions: which ships have you heard of, and which ships do you view positively? The final seeding for the bracket will be based on a ratio of these numbers, from which we will rank the top 96!

A few notes regarding this survey:

Please answer as honestly as you can! Yes, that does mean going through a long list of ships twice in order to check all the relevant boxes, but such is the price we pay for accurate data.

JOKE-OGRAPHY: 1. In this Bible story, Jesus is arrested by Jewish priests who've become jealous of Him. The priests aren't allowed to kill Him since they're technically living under Roman rule and Roman laws, so they hand Him over to the local governor, Pontius Pilate, and tell him that Jesus claimed to be the king of the Jews. This, they hope, will make Pilate think Jesus is trying to start a rebellion against the Romans. Pilate questions Jesus in a pretty simple but dramatic interrogation, beginning by asking Him if He's really a king, to which Jesus replies that His kingdom is not of this world; if it were, His servants would be fighting to free Him. 2. In this cartoon, the first part of the comic sticks to the Bible story, but when Jesus mentions His servants fighting for Him, Pilate tries to clarify by asking, "So you have no servants to fight for you?" But Jesus wasn't saying He doesn't have servants; He was saying they aren't going to fight a physical war to free Him because His kingdom is not a physical one, nor can any physical kingdom hope to threaten it. As Jesus implies this, His actual servants -- the angels -- pester Him to let them beat up Pontius Pilate for Him, but He tells them to calm down since that's not part of the plan. 3. Gabriel (the angel with the blue cape) says, "Pontius Pilate? More like, 'I'm gonna PUNCH THIS Pilate!" PONTIUS is often pronounced PUNCHIS (at least where I'm from), which sounds a little like PUNCH THIS, so Gabriel is just making a play on Pilate's name and saying he's about to clock him if Jesus gives the go-ahead. 4. Michael (the militant soldier angel in the red cape) gives a declaration that sounds a lot like Matthew 8:8. In that verse, a Roman centurion begs for Jesus's help, saying, "Lord, I am not worthy that you should enter under my roof, but only say the word, and my daughter shall be healed." In Mass, we mirror this quote before receiving the Eucharist, except that "roof" refers to the roof of our mouths, since we're about to consume the Eucharist, and instead of "my daughter," we say "my soul." In this cartoon, Michael mirrors the Mass version of the quote, but ends it with "and his soul shall be BROUGHT TO HEEL (i.e. forced to submit)."

Welcome to YEAR 8 of our annual FFxiv 30 Day Writing Challenge, folks!

Last year we had 7,935 total entries! Which brings us to a total of 50,656 unique written entries over the last 7 years. That is just incredible! And something that I think that we should be super proud of as a creative fan community.

Whether you're new to the FFxivWrite community or a 7-year writing challenge veteran, if you'd like to give perfectionism in your creative writing process a swift kick in the butt, then this challenge was designed for you!

Runs from September 1st - 30th, 2024. During that timeframe:

Visit sea-wolf-coast-to-coast​ once a day at 12:00pm (noon) PDT for the prompt of the day. Convert to your timezone accordingly. All prompts will be one word or brief phrase that you can interpret however you please.

Illustration-quality works in either digital or traditional mediums. Both colour and b/w acceptable; background required. *BG can be as simple as a pattern or colour block!

6”x9”, 300 DPI illustrations with a 1/8th inch bleed (FINAL DIMENSIONS SHOULD BE 6.25” x 9.25”) Works must be in CMYK, and in a vertical format only.

At least one (1) work in progress picture should be sent in with your final illustration.

For consistency’s sake, keep faces to a minimum (You can have eye(s) or you can have mouth(s) but don’t have both in a humanoid arrangement.)

Original characters only (yours or your friends’).

You can include humans or other creatures, as long as there’s a 1:1   object head to non-object head/human ratio.

This book is for all ages. PG-13 content at the most! Cartoon violence and blood are acceptable, but realistic gore is NOT. Use your common sense. If you’re unsure, run the idea by me.

I want to be creator, how do I join?

No sign ups, no checks, just create whatever you feel like creating! Choose one or all of the prompts. Please read and follow all rules to be a part of this event.

What type of fanworks are accepted?

All types of fanwork are accepted; light, dark, fluff, angst, romantic or platonic, etc. please be sure to tag properly. Fanworks include: Fanfiction, Fanart, Podcasts, Edits, Playlists, Podfics, Moodboards, Aesthetics, Gifs, etc. You may commission work to be submitted but it must be created for this event, so no reposting an older work for this. Due to Tumblr's restrictions we cannot reblog anything that is explicitly N S F W, but we can reblog links to N S F W creations that are hosted on other sites.
