Okay, can I unofficially ask-a-thon prompt you?! Is that allowed?! Lol I donât want to break any rules or step on any toes đ
So, Iâd love to know:
Do you have a specific method that helps you overcome writerâs block?
What story, scene, or maybe specific character exchange that you wrote really kind of threw you for a loop? Maybe it went in the opposite direction that you planned or the characters rebelled and did what they wanted or something?
Sending you so much love and gratitude! â¤ď¸
Yes! I think ask-a-thons are the greatest thing and I am certainly hoping it helps more writers feel engaged and grow friendships â @ask-a-thon deserves all the credit for inspiring me to spam y'all with their Sunday asks this week (and hopefully more in the future)! Thank you so much for sending this in!!
As always, I rambled forever so everything is under the cut.
Do you have a specific method that helps you overcome writerâs block?
I don't have a set method so much as I tend to use several methods to try and push me through writer's block, depending on (1) whether the method I'm using is working and (2) what the reason for the block is. Lately I've been feeling pretty emotionally and mentally burnt out, so a lot of what I'm doing is taking my time, focusing on my mental recovery, and picking up other crafts that bring my anxiety/agitation down to help me feel ready to write again. I've gotten back into crocheting in a big way, to the point where I've actually managed to make two queen-sized blankets in the past twelve months. When I do feel emotionally ready to write but am struggling with the words, I let music do a lot of the work for me. Sometimes I'll just put on a song to get the vibes for the scene I'm trying to write out and dance, or talk to my friends. A foolproof method for me (at least when someone is... available, I guess?) when I'm in this sort of state is to start gushing about the fic I'm writing â especially if I've written some of it out already, or have an outline and ideas I want to incorporate. Getting excited and seeing my friend/friends get excited with me is really really encouraging and helps loosen some of my self-doubt inhibitions that may block me from doing what I want to do because I am my own worst enemy. I think writing communities are essential for writers to help combat writer's block, especially communities centered around the act of writing itself. Multifandom spaces where I can learn from and encourage other writers who are incredibly different from me and have incredibly diverse interests and joys are â to me â some of the most helpful spaces I have been in to fall in love with writing and also be comfortable taking my own time to write. I think we can all agree that writing in an inherently shared hobby, but it is very difficult to feel comfortable sharing without a community to encourage you.
What story, scene, or maybe specific character exchange that you wrote really kind of threw you for a loop? Maybe it went in the opposite direction that you planned or the characters rebelled and did what they wanted or something?
Hahahaha, I'm bringing back Glory, Amen again because this fic. This demon of a fic, even in just the form of a oneshot, completely turned all the worldbuilding I had planned for the Valley upside-down. The Valley was supposed to be a full-dark series focusing on incredibly powerful ancient horrors and the means by which they sated their carnal hungers... and instead of Pastor Rogers being an ancient horror intent on eating away at the edge of this universe piece by piece, he is an ancient horror tamed into being a keeper of this world, if only for the sake of his Witch-Wife and the Witch-daughters who keep this place alive. From full dark to vindication and freedom, and I still have no idea what happened.

Happy Sunday Ask-A-Thon, week 4 for @ask-a-thon . What inspires you the most to write, what makes you want to write and what do you treasure most about your writing?
Inspiration comes to me from everyday life really, the more I read and watch shows I love and just write the more ideas I get! Interact with things you love and inspiration usually follows afterward.
My already existing stories continue to motivate me to keep writing. Falling in love with my characters more everyday makes me want to write. Makes me want to share their story and share my love. I treasure my ability to somehow come up with cool sentences. Like even in not creative writing Iâm able to incorporate cool ways to say something. Itâs kinda like blacking out and then you wake up and see you baked perfect bread. Thanks for the ask!

Hi buddy! I'm sending another round of questions for Sunday Writeblr Ask-A-Thon! My question to you is: Do any of your characters have any favourite media, real or stuff you made up?
Hello! Hmm, I'll have to go with hypothetical answers for some of this I think, but I'll start with the modern magic one:
Helios the technomancer would watch those "How It's Made" shows and sit there complaining the whole time how inconsiderate the electronic gadget segments are because it's obvious the mass production facilities didn't consult with an actual technomancer before calibrating anything.
Darrien the cosmic entity would watch documentaries about space and enjoy the human's POV about the stars, including how different cultures interpreted and named constellations.
Donovan "Van" the will-o'-wisp enjoys club music of all types.
In the [untitled deity project] universe, if TV existed, the deities of flora and fauna would watch nature documentaries and take notes on changes they could make to possibly mess with the mortals' understanding of certain plants and animals, or take inspiration to create new ones, because the two would be equally fascinated by how mortals perceive things.
In the Feathers & Flowers universe, if TV/Internet existed, Aurelia the winged messenger would watch as many gardening videos as possible to learn more about plants so she could impress, or at least assist, Fiore the plant-hybrid with her herbalist shop. Fiore would probably listen to classical music or soft jazz since plants respond well to those types of music.
The theme of documentaries continues with a joke scenario @cynthrey and I came up with of a couple of thousand-year-old characters who watched technology evolve to the point where the history of their own family was being covered, complete with rumors and inaccurate theories about their shorter-lived siblings (and themselves, when they disappeared from history to avoid attention). They debate if it would be a risk to reveal themselves to correct these inaccuracies, but then one of them simply resorts to writing "historical fanfiction" and gives all the "characters" the real personalities that they knew they actually had.

Hi buddy! I'm sending another round of questions for Sunday Writeblr Ask-A-Thon! My question to you is: How are you and how things going? hows the wips going, are you ok?
Hello!
How are you and how are things going?
I'm doing well thank you for asking! I was in a weird kind of burnout phase for a little while and it seems I was able to break through thanks to the trip I just came back from. It was more needed than I realized!
How's the WIPs going, are you ok?
My WIP is going really well! I hammered out a few worldbuilding things that were bugging me and that gave me some good momentum to continue making progress. There is a little problem solving that I need to do for an upcoming scene but I'm pretty excited to write it!

Hi buddy! I'm sending another round of questions for Sunday Writeblr Ask-A-Thon! My question to you is: Would your ocs fight a god to save someone they loved?
my initial instinct was of course. most of them would do anything to save someone they love. but yet, they won't even fight a very powerful person (Zadaf) to save the other. they both sacrifice themselves instead.
Zadaf would have fought a god, he's got the willpower for it. but he left everyone he loved, so...
Rabal would. If Rakad would let him, Rabal would fight a god for Rakad. Rakad would find some way to stop Rabal (probably. depends on how much forwarning of Rabal planning to fight a god for him he has)
Rakad, Rakad doesn't really fight. It's not his personality. He'd try to bargain with a god, he'd ask to take the others place (there are multiple peeople Rakad would do this for), he'd do an impossible task to try and save them. fighting wouldn't enter his mind
Larath might fight. it depends on the exact timing (although probably not, it took him living a dozen years with Rakad having died before trying anything more than talking to Rakad to save him)
Kaztra would probably do it. she'd research as much as she could, prepare everything possible, and then go for it (if she doesn't save him, then what? back to Cantisle?)
Edur would fight a god. She'd lose, but she'd fight. She wouldn't compromise her values at all, though. She'd continue to use no magic. She'd break a wall, walk through miles and miles of wilderness to avoid taking a portal. She'd lose, but the fight would be one to tell stories of, if only for her sheer willpower and dedication.

Hi buddy! I'm sending another round of questions for Sunday Writeblr Ask-A-Thon! My question to you is: How are you and how things going? hows the wips going, are you ok?
Thank you for asking! When you sent this I feel like I was in hibernation. I blinked and a couple of months had gone past, but I felt fine.
And I'm feeling much better now. Or, at least, I am when I replied to this! Full disclaimer: I'm answering on August 10th, and have scheduled this for September 11th.
I'm now the ripe old age of 33, but I'm also on holiday so hopefully I'm feeling good about that.
As of right now, my WIP's are starting to pick up moment again; At long last! I'm hoping that trend has continued into September. Fingers crossed for future me!

Hi there, its Athena. Welcome to my new Thursday Ask-A-Thon where its basically a Thursday version of my Sunday Ask-A-Thon where I ask ya'll about your wips: Has there been any major changes in a character in terms of how you created them, to how they turned out as the wip went on?
Honestly, not really? Most of my characters seem to develop pretty seamlessly over the course of their story, at least as far as I've experienced. This might be because I don't do a ton of character work before I start writing the actual narrative, and get to know the characters as I go.
I think the biggest change in my recent stories/characters, Maeve and Marcel were originally a lot more... antagonistic with each other, but that's kind of softened a lot while I've been writing them. I think as I revise I'm going to work some of that back in, but not to the degree that they originally were. Like, Han Solo/Leia (when I was first writing them I had JUST finished reading Gideon the Ninth, so that was a vibe...).
There are a few other major character changes/developments that I can't really get into because it's like, major spoilers. The one thing I can say is that I discovered things about a central character that connected parts of the world and narrative that I didn't expect and it was very exciting and unexpected, and I'm super interested to see how they continue to develop. This particular character is still very nebulous, so I'm expecting further changes from them as the story continues.

Hi there, its Athena. Welcome to my new Thursday Ask-A-Thon where its basically a Thursday version of my Sunday Ask-A-Thon where I ask ya'll about your wips: How are things going, hows life and how's your characters? What are they up to?
Hello!! Thank you for having me!! I'm so excited! I probably flood your blog with the amount of likes (and reblogs) I put on your stuff :/
My characters are... up to a lot of mischief.
Two who are supposed to hate each others guts keep flirting with each other. Like yes, end goal is them in a relationship, but its very contractory to the future stuff I've already written. I'm trying to figure out how to twist it out of the super flirty so I don't have to rewrite everything, I'm hoping as they develop a friendship and working relationship it settles to no flirting so I can bring it back in a hopefully more genuine way. (Violetta and Kyoya Ootori, Ouran Host Club fanfic)
Then funnily enough, my two characters who are supposed to be hardcore flirting and super into each other are kinda just... falling flat. The little moments I do sneak in just seem... forced... (Daniel and Katherine, unnamed movie, original)
And for a third (because I continually have at least 7 I'm bouncing through) is probably the also unnamed but nicknamed 'spy affairs' or 'THE PURPLE NOTEBOOK ONE' as my sister always says super excitedly when I tell her I'm working on it, novel. It also has characters that are meant to be flirting, but I'm struggling with this one. The MC is in love, soulmate love, with one guy, but is faking love for another for her cover story, and I love the original pair so much that I can't help but write about and focus on them. Even though the story is supposed to follow her cover and the second guy. Although it does help give hints that all is not as it seems, but also it feels like too much.
Thank you so much for asking!! I need to follow your example and just share about my wip's and writing progress, but I am so nervous that people are going to get too hooked and I'll move on without finishing them and upset everyone. The fear/anxiety is real hahaa.

Hi there! Its Week 1 of the Sunday Writeblr Ask-A-Thon! I'm Athena, my question for you is: Is there anything you wish you could change about a completed story or fixed plot point? Have you ever struggled with writing a wip? what was the struggle from and have you ever scrapped it completely to start all over again?
Hi, Athena! Thank you so much for choosing to send me an ask for the Ask-A-Thon! I would love to answer this for you.
But, there is a lot here, so Iâm gonna have to break it down and answer it in two parts, just for the sake of ease. Without further ado, letâs get into it!
Is there anything you wish you could change about a completed story or a fixed plot point?
Thatâs a great question! I donât believe Iâve been writing long enough to actually be dissatisfied with certain aspects of my finished work.
I will say that, generally speaking, there are times I wish I could capture certain moments in words in a way thatâs more true to how they play out in my head.
I suppose thatâs a little vague, but I think the problem is more so feeling-based. I have yet to find a way to rectify itâŚ
Have you ever struggled with writing a WIP? What was the struggle from and have you ever scrapped it completely to start all over again?
Iâve actually struggled writing a piece recently! As you may or may not know, sarahscribbles has her Birthday Celebration writing event (which is still going until September 1st, by the way~), and I had originally started writing my latest piece, Now, Youâre Mine, to submit to it.
Unfortunately, I quickly ran out of the motivation to finish it, and I found that I didnât want to submit something I couldnât give my all to. I put the project on pause and ended up submitting Worshiping the Masterpiece instead. That writing process was a lot easier for me to undergo.
I honestly didnât think I was ever going to finish Now, Youâre Mine, but after writing âWorshiping the Masterpieceâ, I decided to push through it and post it anyway.
A fic Iâve actually abandoned recently is âThe Ball of Red Deathâ, which Iâve posted a sneak peek to before. When I was writing that one, I was trying to achieve a certain vibe (or capture a certain moment, if you will) that I kinda lost during the writing process.
I actually made it really far into writing the fic, but Iâm just not sure if Iâll ever find the motivation to finish it. Maybe itâs not completely lost, but as of right now, I donât plan on continuing itâŚ
All of that was probably a lot to read, but I hope I was able to answer your ask in a satisfactory way. Thank you again for sending one in! Iâm always happy to answer some questions about my work.

The offerings are pouring in!
We see you there, creeping in the dark with those... are those bones??? You know what, Iâm not going to ask. We hope that in between whatever youâve been doing to prepare for Halloween, youâve been working on a bit of side writing as well!
Last Sunday kicked off the posting period for our annual Han/Leia Trick or Treat Prompt-a-Thon, which will continue until Monday, October 31st - thatâs right, Halloween! So you still have plenty of time to read our recipe (ahem, rules), pick a flavour (prompts!) and work on your offering, which can be as short as 500 words or as long as 5k (but weâre lenient on both word count and deadline!)
When youâre done, donât forget to tag us @hanleiacelebrationâ and also use the tag #hanleiatrickortreat2022 so the coven can start sampling your tricks and treats. In fact, you might want to head there now and see what kind of spooks our witches have conjured up already đŽ

Happy Sunday Ask-A-Thon from over at @ask-a-thon. Thank you for following over to the new blog. Now, on to your Sunday questions!
What started your writing journey? What about your writing has changed between your first pieces of writing vs your most current WIP?
Hmm well I remember first writing stories from about right before and all throughout middle school. I was still set on being a doctor, being a writer didn't even occur to me. But still I wrote a lot.
The earliest story I can remember is about a witch who curses a school to float in the air because they kicked her out. But they just use stairs to get to the school so her plan didn't work very well.
My writing definitely changed a lot. I had soooo many self inserts. I wrote about orphans a lot for some reason.
Me and a group of friends decided to write a book one day, and I was the designated writer. They came up with everything and I wrote it all out. We were very passionate about it, and even when I left that school and wasn't friends with them anymore I wanted to continue it.
I guess for a long time I've been very passionate about writing good stories, even before I knew I wanted to be an author.
It hasn't even been that long since I decided to be a serious author, but I've always been this way so it feels like I've been on this journey since forever.
Thanks for the ask I love talking about myself!

CNN guest calls out network on-air for Cuomo brothers âlove-a-thonâ
A CNN guest on Sunday morning called out the network for letting anchor Chris Cuomo conduct glowing, âlove-a-thonâ interviews with his now-scandal-plagued brother Gov. Andrew Cuomo.
Washington Post media critic Erik Wemple flipped the script when âReliable Sourcesâ host Brian Stelter asked about âthe mediaâs coverageâ of the governorâs scandals âup until now.â
âI would be remiss if I didnât mention CNNâs own huge media story here,â Wemple said.
âChris Cuomo, the anchor at the 9 oâclock hour, who covered Andrew Cuomo and had all these wonderful love-a-thon interviews with him â more than 10 of them.â
âThey suspended the conflict of interest rule for Chris Cuomo for those interviews,â Wemple continued. âYet all of a sudden theyâve enforced it again now that Andrew Cuomo was in the midst of an historic scandal in the Albany statehouse.â
âI think that is major black eye for CNN,â he concluded â before Stelter changed the subject.
CNN said last month that it reinstated its âruleâ that prevents Chris Cuomo from interviewing or covering his brother, reversing policy after the governor made frequent appearances in 2020.
The TV host briefly addressed the allegations against his brother on air on March 1.
âObviously I am aware of whatâs going on with my brother,â the anchor said at the top of his primetime show. âAnd obviously I cannot cover it, because he is my brother.â
âNow, of course CNN has to cover it,â the host continued. âThey have covered it extensively and they will continue to do so.â
Cuomo, 63, has been accused in recent weeks of inappropriate behavior or remarks by seven women, but has strongly denied doing anything improper. He is also under fire for withholding data on the rue number of COVID-19 deaths in state nursing homes.

Thai man runs off with WINNING LOTTERY TICKET

A 23-year-old #Thai woman complained to police that her husband had fled with their winning #lottery ticket, worth 6 million baht, even though they had agreed to share the money equally.
Pornthida Chamnanwet, a native of Ubon Ratchathani province, filed her complaint at Phra Pradaeng police station about 10.30pm on Sunday. She said she and her husband Wijak Wannaprasit, 34, a native of Bangkok's Thon Buri district, worked in the same factory. They had cashed in a ticket for a three-digit prize with a lottery vendor on Nov 9. At the same time they bought two more government lottery tickets, one of which she picked. The ticket she chose, 017223, won a 6-million-baht first prize in the draw on Saturday. They had recorded their win at Phra Pradaeng police station, had their photos taken with the ticket and also signed their names on it, Ms Pornthida said. Then they returned to their rented room on Soi Suk Sawat 64. Overjoyed, they agreed to divide the prize equally between them, and were planning how they would each spend their share, she said. On Sunday evening, Ms Pornthida said, Mr Wijak told her she would have to make do with only 2 million baht. She asked why. Then they had argued. Her husband told her to go to court, and walked out, she said. Ms Pornthida asked police to prevent her husband cashing in the ticket and said she would also ask the Government Lottery Office to block payment. â You can follow BangkokJack on Instagram, Twitter & Reddit. Naughty Girl
Prompt:Â Despite Groffâs insistence, you did not have a crush on Pippa and she definitely didnât have a crush on you.
Warning: Femslash and just a bit of teasing, but other than that⌠Itâs innocent ;)
A/N: Day 2 of the @hamwriters write-a-thon. Another first for me since I have never written for Pippa or femslash. Cheers, hope you guys enjoy.
âY/N, will you help me?â
Pippaâs soft voice calling your name made you jolt up from your seat on the floor where you were doing your routine stretches before the show. âY-Yes, what can I help you with?â you stammer, your gaze flickering to her shapely legs.
She was sitting on the ground, legs stretched out to a âvâ shape, and when she reached out to you, you realize what she needed help with. You plop down to the ground, mimicking her pose, and for good measure, wipe your sweaty palms along your leggings before grabbing her hands. You pull her towards you, gulping when you see her muscles flex and relax.
After a few reps of stretching, she gives you a sweet smile that puts a goofy grin on your face.
âThank you, Y/N. You donât need it, but break a leg tonight!â she calls over her shoulder as she exited the room.
You sigh, watching her lithe form. From the corner of your eye, you see Groff saunter next to you.
âShut up,â you grumble as he helps you up to your feet.
âI wasnât going to say anything,â he hums.
You roll your eyes. âI know you too well to know what youâre thinking.â
No matter how much you tried to persuade Groff that you simply admired the talented Pippa and was constantly impressed by her kindness, he was convinced that your feelings for her were beyond platonic. As a matter-of-fact, he had a theory that she didnât have innocent feelings towards you either.
Ever since you joined the ensemble as the new âBulletâ you were swept up in the chaotic world of the entertainment business. You somehow managed to balance performing every day of the week, meeting fans you didnât know you have, and squeezing in smaller gigs for extra pocket money. Luckily, Groff offered you a temporary place to stay until you had your bearings together. As a struggling dancer in New York, you never had time to date, especially now when your career was only beginning.
The more pressing issue was that youâve never dated a woman, either. You were an open-minded person, love is love, after all, but having feelings for a woman was new territory for you. It was different, scary, but above all, exciting.
You run a hand down your face at your thoughts. But itâs not like you liked Pippa. You just thought she was beautiful, caring, kind, and put together - qualities that you admired in a person. She was a great friend.
âOooh, care to share your thoughts?â Groff teases, âthose expressions on your face while you had your little internal monologue seemed like they were juicy.â
âJust be quiet and get ready for the show will you?â you groan, pushing him away from you.
He laughs but decides to let the subject go.
Relieved, you continued to stretch and prepare for the show.
âWant to share a cab with me tonight?â Pippa asks as she exited the stage during intermission.
After the show, a few of the cast and crew were going out for drinks at a bar that recently opened to relieve some of the stress from the week. âYouâre coming?â you asked, surprised.
âI donât know, I kind of want to let loose tonight,â she giggles, biting her bottom lip, âdonât you ever get an urge to do something crazy?â
You glance at her lips, red and lush, heart pounding heavily. You shake your head and look away, focusing on making it to Groffâs dressing room without making a fool of yourself. âI guess,â you reply nonchalantly.
âPerfect! So meet me after the show in my dressing room tonight, alright?â she claps her hands and then squeezes your arm before heading over to Jasmine, who called her over to look at something on her phone.
You inwardly groan, ignoring the lingering warmth of her touch on the spot where she touched you, and deciding to forgo Groffâs dressing room entirely. You made a beeline to the stairs that led for the rooftop, hoping that the fresh air would help soothe your unsettled mind.
Pippa was sin wrapped in leather.
You couldnât take your eyes off her. Her black leather pants were practically painted on her long legs and the leather corset accentuated her small waist. To top it off, her lips were painted red, a promise of a wild night.
âReady?â she grins, grabbing your hand and tugging you towards the exit. She rolled her eyes and laughed at the catcalls from the staff and crew. âSorry I took so long; my pants werenât cooperating. Did everyone go on ahead?â
Your face heats up, hoping she didnât see your lingering gaze on her hips. âYeah, Groff said he already has a table covered for us.â
âPerfect,â she smiles, leading you to the yellow cab that waited on the street.
You climb in first, your breath catching when she slides in next to you. Her legs were pressed against yours and she was so close that you could smell her perfume. A tingle went down your spine.
You let out a shaky breath, sending prayers to the skies above that you were going to make it out of this cab alive.
Fuck, fuck, fuck.
Normal Pippa was an angel.
A real-life angel that listened to your problems, complimented how cute you looked even when you didnât have make-up on, and gave soup to Groff to give to you when you were stuck at home with a fever.
But tipsy Pippa?
Boy, she was something else.
You give a panicked look over your shoulder at Groff as she dragged you to the dancefloor, but he merely threw his head back and laughed. Before you got lost in the crowd, you swore that he made sure everyone got a good look at the two of you leaving to dance.
Pippa stops and faces you, her face flushed pink and a playful smile on her lips. She grabs your hand and lifts it in the air as she swayed her hips. âCome on, I know you can dance,â she yells, encouraging you to move.
You stay rooted to the spot, blood rushing to your head as you watched her move.
The enticing beat of âNaughty Girlâ by BeyoncĂŠ rung through the air and her smile turns sultry. She turns, back facing you, and guides your hand so it rests on her exposed hipbone. She grinds against you, the movement so sexy that your hand tightens on her skin.
âPippa,â you groan when her body brushes against yours again.
She doesnât seem to hear you and continues to dance. She presses your hand harder against her, while her other hand moved up to cup your neck.
âCâmon Y/N,â she purrs, âlet it loose.â
In your mind, you hear something break.
The dam that held back the attraction you felt for Pippa reached its limit. It broke and poured over you in waves, enveloping you, and pushing you to yank her closer to your body. You moved with her, the dance so seductive, so fucking sweet, that you felt your body thrum in pleasure.
âOh fuck yes,â Pippa swore.
Your hands reached for her hips, helping her move against you, your grip so tight that you thought youâd break her. She didnât mind, in fact, it encouraged her to be bolder, keeping hands in her hair as she danced erotically against you.
You stare at her, entranced. The creamy expanse of her neck was revealed, begging to be paid attention to. If you just angled your head rightâŚ
The feathery touch of your lips against her soft skin made the dam that was already broken crumble into dust.
Not missing a beat, Pippa spins on her heel and tugs you down for a kiss. She tilts your head, tongue searching for yours. You moan against her lips, your body on fire at the contact.
She draws back, chuckling when you lean forward to try to keep the kiss going. âIâve been waiting for you to finally get the hint that I like you.â
You smile, her confession making you feel warm. âI think Iâve been trying to ignore it the whole time,â you say, âthis is just so new and sudden, but fuck, it feels so right.â
A smile slowly spreads across Pippaâs face. âLetâs get out of here and make up for lost time,â she hums, âthen we can talk about it.â
You accept her hand and she leads you toward the exit, anticipation burning in your veins.
You closed the door to your apartment as quietly as you could the next morning. It was 8 oâclock, and Groff, a heavy sleeper, usually slept in on Sundays. You wanted to be extra careful with not waking him.
Your knees buckle when you see him sitting on a barstool in the kitchen, facing the entrance of the apartment.
He sees your disheveled hair, clothes that were definitely not yours, and the satisfied glow. He jumps up from his seat, beaming.
âFinally!â he yells, âI knew Pippa, the little spitfire, had something planned in her head of hers when she said she wanted to come out last night!â
You groan, knowing that you werenât going to hear the end of it.
âHere,â Groff grins, reaching behind him to hand you a homemade cake that read:
CONGRATS, UR GAY!
âAre you fucking kidding me?â you spat, glaring at him.
âOr you could swing both ways, I donât care. Iâll still love you.â
You let out a hysterical laugh. âYouâre insane. Iâm moving out.â
âWith Pippa? Is it already that serious? Was it that good last night?â he prods, putting the cake back on the counter when you refused to take it.
âGroff,â you whine, laughing as you playfully shoved him away.
âOh my god, it was that good!â he gasps, âtell me all about it.â
You ignore him and start heading to your room.
âDonât you dare! Iâve been rooting for you two since I noticed you couldnât keep your eyes off of her legs the first time she wore a dress to the theater.â
You pause in front of your room. âThree months ago? Two weeks after I started?â
Groff smiles. âYes,â he answers, âand she may or may not have interrogated me about you once she found out you were living with me. Iâm glad it turned out wonderfully. You look happy.â
You give him a soft smile. âI am. Weâre going on a date tomorrow night.â
âShould I wait for you to come home? Or are you going to have a repeat performance of last night?â
You slam the door in his face.

Hi there! Its Week 1 of the Sunday Writeblr Ask-A-Thon! I'm Athena, my question for you is: Think of the genres you write, what drew you you to them? What do you love about them?
Hi Athena!
I write mostly fantasy and science fantasy, with sub genres in horror, science fiction, and a romance. A lot of my stories revolve around people figuring out who they are and how they fit in the world, and overcoming what people told them they couldnât do.
I was originally drawn to fantasy by the YA fantasy books I grew up on (Tamora Pierce, the Golden Compass) and comics. I think I liked how limitless the stories felt, while at the same time they felt grounded and intimate, and made me feel seen.
As a queer person, Iâve always been drawn to stories about marginalized characters, characters who persisted even when everyone told them they couldnât.
Nowadays Iâm drawn to the weird stories, the morally grey characters. Stories with intense, sometimes dangerous, love. Characters who are still figuring out who they are and what theyâre capable of. Still fantasy, but more horror mixed in.
Iâm interested to see how my genre taste continues to change. Iâve started reading more crime & detective fiction recently, especially in comics.
