task 001 - the interrogation // r. qajar
@theopulenthq
(Hello, can you please tell me your name, country, && what role you provide your court?) in some respects, rostam had expected something of this nature. his conversation with eesha the night before had shone a positive light on the what the 'memoriam' truly was yet his stomach wobbled with trouble. although his eyes remain blurry and his head aches, his posture is straight, his legs crossed, and hands in his lap. "rostam selim qajar, crown sultan of turkey, regent of persia..."
( And who do you believe to be your closest allies, either nations or individuals? Do you trust your allies?) he sucks in a breath. "i trust my husband's judgement. his allies and the allies of persia are those in which i align myself." his eyes are watchful on the interviewer, fingers tinker with the ring still on his finger. "to be forthcoming, i don't believe that i trust you enough to mention them by name. however, you can make note that if your rulers wish to hear them, they may approach me themselves. despite the odd blood between us, i've come to trust the mughal empire by intuition alone."
( Ah, yes, I see... how about your enemies, then. Who do you not align yourself with, and why?) rostam shifts uncomfortably; although he considered his older brother to be an enemy, he doesn't speak on it. "my husband's younger sister, arshiya." is what he admits instead. "and her sister - why?" he says with a point. "khan and i were discussing children, openly, before his death, we had for many years yet this time, we had began to make plans - they benefit from his childless death." he concedes slightly. "many people in my court believe that i, too, benefit from his death yet had i not taken control during the madness that ensued after his death, i would have simply gone home, to turkey, with only memories to prove that our love for one another was not simply a waking dream."
( Interesting. Do you have a personal vendetta against any of the courts, or even individuals, here?) he shakes his head. "no. i only wish to see the empire that my husband built remain unified, a feat that i am not sure my sister-in-law understands the gravity of - nor do i believe that she is capable of doing at the moment."
( What are your thoughts on the mysterious deaths in so many royal families?) his stomach churns. "nobody should feel the pain of a loss such as this. it is a sharp sting and consumes every second that i am awake or asleep, for that matter. it is not something i wish on anyone - it's a tragedy..."
( How do you feel about the system of monarchy as a whole?) the confusion sews his eyebrows together. "i've never thought of it in depth; a necessary evil, perhaps? however, to be normal....to no longer have targets on our backs or an empire to run - it sounds something like what i would believe mecca to be...heaven."
( So, what would be your best theory as to what is going on, then?) a painful memory strikes him in the centre of his chest; a memory of his husband's body in the aftermath of whatever it was that separated his soul from it. "whoever is responsible wishes for us to foolishly believe that these deaths are not only justified but a coincidence." his voice shakes. "it was no coincidence..." comes a quiet admission. "i believe it's ideology was externally planned and internally executed. otherwise, all four nations must re-think our security if somebody were to come into our kingdoms unannounced."
( Thank you for your time. Is there anything else you'd like to add, anything else that would be useful to the investigation? "n-no." his stutter is not from guilt but from the sudden realization that the moment he left this room, he would either find out who had murdered his husband or he wouldn't, but there was one fact that would remain; khan was gone. "thank you..."
the interviewer hears an angry, frustrated scream when the door shuts behind the sultan; a release of pressure that had been building for months since the morning that he'd learned of his husband's death - followed by a sob that makes even their eyes well with tears.

if Ashley's for some reasons ever mentions/explains some human torture methods what would the cons thing of it ? Like are we more brutal then them ?
Well... this get dark. FBI Agent, I'm a writer I promise! This is all hypothetical! There is worse out here in the internet wilds!!!
I think for the most part, it's a game of orange-and-blue morality for a bit. There are things the Decepticons pull (Shockwave just existing) that immediately make human prosecutors start prepping the war crime cases and some things that humans do make the cons pause for a minute. At the same time, certain things the cons do, while horrible, just make humans nod because of course they would do that, and most human torture techniques just don't translate well to Cybertronian biology.
Like, the Decepticons would do things that are definitely against the Geneva Convention (and I think they would find our concept of a Geneva Convention laughable) so they would shrug off a lot of similar precedents humans have. Removing limbs, sensory depravation, experimentation, and electrocution are all familiar concepts so it is just a shrug of shoulders and a "why not?" attitude.
And then they look deeper.
In my mind, Cybertronians above all are efficient. Unless it's personal, or you are with someone who has a truly skewed brain module (Yes, Airachnid I am looking at you) the point of torture is to get information as fast as possible. Tortured to death, unless it's an accident, isn't efficient.
Humans, unfortunately, don't always care about efficiency.
They see the Human Centipede and the Terrifier, and bots are praying to primus like they've never done it before. It's entertainment, its art to mankind and it is some of the most protective vomit-worthy levels of shit they've ever seen. They see the Jigsaw franchise and Shockwave is joining discords and emailing directors to get notes.
It's fictional. It's fake. It's an unhinged level of creativity completely separated from ethics and morals, or in some cases leveraging those ideas to better stamp in some emotional torment. It's not just physically taking apart a victim, or trying to manipulate them mentally; it's full-on destruction. Complete evisceration performed in the name of delusional curiosity, sadistic glee, or self-righteous theatrics.
But, again, it's all fake! So what does it matter? Soundwaves says to himself as he bans any vore content from the Nemesis' servers and scrubs his drives
And then someone brings up Vlad the Impaler.
Imagine the horror as it just clicks. While Cybertronains may not produce excrement, they do have scraplets, so the concept of leaving someone in a tub to slowly rot or forcing rats to dig through bodies just sings a song of pain they are vulnerable to. Of slowly dying in a painful, inevitable method that's meant to leave a lasting mark.
And then a human starts thinking.
Art isn't efficient, but a masterpiece is never meant to be so mere as efficient.
Why not remove t-cogs? the element that helps these creatures transform, a crucible of their identity and self-worth?
Wait, that's not meant to be torture, that's just containment.
No. Torture is using small limbs to unwind and peel back layers of wiring. Torture is leaving portions of a frame to decay and rust, poking at the open wound, and flinging acid inside. Torture is pulling limbs off and reattaching them only to do it again. Torture is removing optics and turning sensors to maximum sensitivity before turning them off again.
Torture is taking those old methods and being creative enough to apply them on a blank canvas with new rules and no precedents.
The issue is not our brutality, it is our cruelty and creativity. And that's something that even the most vile Decepticon can respect.
They might even help you find a new muse, or canvas, to practice with.

task 001 - the interrogation // commander a. hasan
(Hello, can you please tell me your name, country, && what role you provide your court?) it had come out of left field, a summons; another invitation to something that wasn't quite what everybody expected by the mughal empire. "kabir," abdullah leans forward in his seat, his face inches from the interviewer's, a flush of stoicism and danger lingering in his face. "it will do you well to come out with it, son, who put you up to this?" silence passes, abdullah grows irritated but concedes with a sigh. "commander abdullah hasan, field marshal - india."
( And who do you believe to be your closest allies, either nations or individuals? Do you trust your allies?) he shifts. "allies become enemies in the wake of great tragedy. at one point or another, i was under the impression that tragedy would bring us together - this event has showed me otherwise." a lie; he had never been under the impression that tragedy did more than stir up the anger in the world. "eesha - i trust her. that's it."
( Ah, yes, I see... how about your enemies, then. Who do you not align yourself with, and why?) "ethiopia." it's an immediate answer but his explanation isn't nearly as specific. "rats run rampant there. did you know? and i have a feeling that they are in this palace as we speak, festering, breeding their disease in our halls." the commander leans their spine into the chair. "scotland." another immediate answer. "their king departed in the middle of a memoriam - could his conscious feel guilt for the misery that his hands have caused?"
( Interesting. Do you have a personal vendetta against any of the courts, or even individuals, here?) "the persian sultan's husband did compare me to a camel once, a hardy comment from a man who was cas-" he stops himself, trying to withhold a grin. "no."
( What are your thoughts on the mysterious deaths in so many royal families?) "kabir, we have spoken many times about this. you know my opinion of it - they targeted the wrong leaders - the emperor of japan? his wife? the king of germany? the sultan of persia? the dowager queen of ethiopia? from what i know of them, they were good people, innocent despite their faults - i think somebody got it wrong and they'll pay for it, greatly."
( How do you feel about the system of monarchy as a whole?) "blood breeds the problems we face. monarchy is not the problem, son, the line of inheritance is. some families are plagued with a sickness of the mind so difficult to notice that it has become normalcy. there is no reason, no thought into who leads us - merely son after son after son until somebody revolts and takes it for themselves - thus the cycle of self-importance starts again with a new bloodline."
( So, what would be your best theory as to what is going on, then?) "for the time being theories evade me, however, the only thing that is clear is that somebody powerful is the cause. to have your hands in so many kingdoms? that kind of reach is not attained by chance. they did this on purpose. that's my deduction."
( Thank you for your time. Is there anything else you'd like to add, anything else that would be useful to the investigation?) he ponders it for a moment, a sly grin upturns devilishly at the corners of his mouth as he goes to stand. a dangerous hums falls from his lips, his hand pats the interviewer's cheek. "no, sir, however - in regards to your investigation into your wife's affair, well, just know that she was very well taken care of, all four times. have a good afternoon."

show tempe gang crossover with the morris islanders would actually have been the best episode of bones ever. btw
#please ignore the rest of the tags i will just be making things up#okay they start out in carolina but at least half the episode takes place in dc. do not ask me how travel logistics would work#tory spends the entire episode off with tempe doing bone stuff. booth feels upstaged by a 16-year-old girl#so he goes and hangs out with ben who does NOT trust him right off the bat#ben ends up having to run him over to liri at some point because there's crime afoot and tom is busy. they spend most of the ride in silenc#ofc they end up bonding Eventually because they are both obsessed with crazy emotionally stunted redheads named t brennan#tory is more effective than any of the squinterns and manages to piss hodgins off so bad just by existing#coop hangs out in the lab as saroyan tries to kick him out thirty times. he just keeps showing up and she can't prove who's letting him in#(it's tempe.) angela loves tory but tory does not love angela back. saroyan tolerates her. sweets likes her but knows she's hiding somethin#comes to the conclusion that she can read her friends minds and slowly drives himself crazy because obviously that can't be true#tory brings hi along whenever she needs someone with people skills and he is MORE than happy to participate in a hodgins experiment#hi gets to be king of the lab for about ten minutes. shelton hits it off with angela immediately and they solve half the case together#booth fucking HATES hi because he's evasive and really good at the manipulation thing. booth can't win verbal sparring and he gets Big Mad#at one point the four of them are in an interrogation room together (MISTAKE) because tory had them meddling a little too close to the sun#and booth is trying so hard to question them which didn't work even when they COULDN'T read each other's minds#tory figures out who did it and hi steals her thunder a la shrek wasnt vandalized he gave birth#temperance tells tory 'i know you've got a secret sweets told me and even though i don't trust psychology i find he's insightful' etc etc#tory's like well i might be but i can't tell you it's not just my secret and you wouldn't believe me anyway#because let's be real tempe WOULDNT believe her#meanwhile saroyan convinced by sweets paranoia managed to get a sample of tory's blood and test it and is like HEY WHAT THE FUCK#gets hodgins and they just stare at the results together and delve into conspiracy theories. he's like i KNEW there were werewolves#they debate telling tempe but know it wouldnt end well for the kids and decide to get rid of the evidence. but hodgins is SO smug#also angela spends the whole episode trying to convince everyone hi and shelton are dating and no one believes her#they finally see them kiss or something and they're all somehow floored and angela's just like yeah? duh?#if anyone read this i'm sorry and why

ok back to Nanna, but I need to share something from the last dao playthrough that was just such a Nanna specific experience. Her first exposure to potentially doing crime was through that dwarf in Dust Town offering you to smuggle lyrium to a mage in the Tower. But you have to give him 50 sovereigns to do it. She was too poor for crime.
#same thing happened when she tried to act big and interrogate zevran just to give her all his information willingly#new bit is nanna making attempts at doing something tough or illegal and being thwarted#and just going 'dang it >:T'#tbd

Dr Who: The Brigadier is a silly military man. He's stubborn, and unflappable, and extremely loyal to the Doctor and his men (soldiers). This man can deal with anything, like a champ. Water off his back, yknow?
Lethbridge-Stewart books: This dude is getting traumatised every single day and he doesn't get a moment's break. Anything that could happen to him, will. Will he cope with the trauma? not really. He's a resilient dude, but he'll just pretend most of it didn't happen, for his own sanity
#rambles#classic doctor who#brigadier lethbridge stewart#ok ok ok i cant say every book is like that because there's so. many. books... but the first two are#(i think 'forgotten son' is set only a couple months after 'web of fear'. 'schizoid earth' is set probably not even a month after#'forgotten son'.) at the end of 'schizoid earth' he tells his colleague/friend what he went through and how he doesnt know if he was#interrogated or in fact tortured (im in the camp of 'pumping him with drugs that force him the tell the truth and also make it so he can't#trust his senses and he's unable to tell whats real or not' is torture. it still hadnt worn off when he got back) and his colleague said he#couldnt take a week off. he legit doesn't get a break T-T#updating the tag - i've started the third book and the prologue is just about alistair's shit mental health and now he isnt really dealing#with it because honestly how IS he meant to deal with it?

wish i could give ultra kudos to time & tide… i’m thinking about that fic on the DAILY i have not known peace since then
ultra kudos accepted via ask, thank you!!
you will be happy (for now) to learn that i have decided how i want the next chapter to go--at first i thought it was going to be obi-wan's pov after he wakes up looking like himself again in the halls of healing but ive now decided that doesn't fit the flow of the story so it's gonna be in anakin's pov immediately after he chokes hardeen to the brink of unconsciousness only to stop because--how would hardeen know--why would hardeen say that name--no he can't be--he wouldn't--no he isn't--no anakin really has gone insane--he's dead--anakin must have misheard---
#asks#t&t#another chapter of anakin going through it#and probably fantasizing about dong an interrogation of hardeen#that would totally be considered war crimes
