I wish people would listen to me talk about my interests with the same enthusiasm they would give a child talking about their interests.

A kid can go up to an adult and start talking about their favorite toy, superhero, or show and 9 times out of 10 they are indulged with smiles, kind questions, and listening ears.

As an adult talking about their interests to another adult you either get:

A. They have no idea what you’re talking about so they’re half listening/are confused

B. Think your interest is childish and tease you about it

C. A disinterested “Oh. That’s cool I guess.”

D. Trying to mansplain your own interest to you or quiz you to make sure you “know enough about it to be a true fan.”

May i add that, in social media, if you REALLY feel the need to shit talk a ship online do not tag it/write its name on it! You can easily filter out everything ship related from your feed with a few clicks, however the ship enjoyers cannot easily filter out YOUR SHIT TALK from THEIR feed without having the displeasure of reading your mean take about something they love, the search engine doesn't know!!!

If you blantly tag the ship name in your hate rant instead of just censoring it (like "sh*p n*me" or ***** or whatever) you're just being an insensitive, inconsiderate piece of shit making people's experience less enjoyable. I bet you'd hate coming across such comments about your fav ship while you browse for pretty art/fanfics, so don't do it to others!!
