i literally cannot recommend this fic enough. this might be my favourite read of the entire year, dead serious. this sounds fluffy but trust me, the pining and the angst go well like salt on a chocolate chip cookie: extremely decadent. everything about this fic goes insane and this should be your gateway drug into marvey, im so serious about this. this. obsessed with fics that really use the law in their plots, and this is a prime example. a lot of chemistry in this one that is described in a way that makes you jealous of the bond they share and there are still lines in this fic that i think about almost everyday but honestly, such a top-tier read. PLEASE PLEASE IF YOU LIKE SUFFERING ANF REALLY REALLY GOOD CHEMISTRY PLEASE

Harvey sometimes moonlights as a Star Trek BNF. Mike might have an attitude problem on the internet. TiberiusGhost is strangely compelling, for a recluse who never goes to meetups, and Harvey's finding this kid Photohead vaguely familiar…

i know that the terminology in this one is hella old-school but trust me. as someone who doesnt read a lot of fandom fics, this fic has changed it all for me (also bc the author replied to my comment hehehe) stick with this fic because the way fandom weaves with the character development is absolutely delicious, i remember saying this in my og comment but this fic was written with love for fandom and you should definitely read it too!!! you'd absolutely love it! this is a fandom classic, every fic rec has this on the list (cw for dom/sub and prostitution, so if you're uncomfy please dont read) but i swear there are so many romantic moments in this one that make me swoon and the smut is very good, i usually tap out in long fics really quickly but this hooked me the whole way through twice. thats my ringing endorsement, READ THIS

BRO PLEASE. this was so good. angsty and pining-y enough even though it's mostly a text fic. text fics to me are more like comedic, but this one had substance and heart (and funny and enjoyable btw). pulls you in and really makes you want to stick it out and get to the beautiful ending <333 (harvey being soft is probably a category on its own :3)

reads like a novella to me, and it's really good!!! very episodic and you really feel like these are things that have happened in universe. its very slice of lifey and i reread it a lot as a comfort read, its like a big hug to me

i swear this is the most rom-commy fic marvey has to offer. i like aus that slap me in the face more with the alternate universe, but this is such a rom-com plot. fandom classic as well and it really reads like a hugh grant 90s movie and if thats not enough to pull you in idk what will tbh

Mike was raised to believe Imprint was a life-changing event for those few lucky enough to experience it. Harvey was raised to believe it was a form of mental illness. When it actually happened, neither of them noticed.

this goes absolutely crazy. one of those fics where you read it and you almost want to throw your phone at the wall because the characters could make it so easy if they werent so stupid (but in a good way of course) but the way it was written, you feel the depth of the soulmate bond and why its so important (which a lot of soulmate aus forget to do loll) but goes down like an expensive and delicious dinner :)

HELLO RACHEL!! im always up for smart and discerning rachel (this shows up in of all the gin joints too btw!!!) this runs realistic to me because it shows that rachelxmike arent some hopelessly wrong for each other couple, they have good and bad times. this feels more real to me than other fics bc its not like the world conspires for marvey to be apart, its just life. i know this makes it sound so sad, and it is, but trust me: this is really really really good i love this so much

I definitely see it taking a looong time for Louis to move past what Armand did to Claudia and Madeleine. In the books, he knew the whole time it was Armand. I actually love that they made it this huge reveal. Tv hasn't been this good for a hot minute and Rockstar Lestats gonna break the internet next season. (Possibly me as well but thats not why I'm jumping in your asks)

I said it in another ask, but Louis got a speed-run of his development in the books, which frees him up for the actual relationship "Loustat" arc that Rolin always talked about.

Which does not mean that Louis and Lestat will get back together right away, no, but in the books the "Merrick" storyline and Memnoch and the coma definitely are hiccups along the way. I think those have been moved out of the way with the way they did it (and I don't think the show is doing Memnoch).

But Louis... has taken on responsibility. He is companion enough for himself right now, because of that, true, but he is, in a very real way only discovering himself now, too, and he is also only now about to learn the truth about a whole lot of things.

And for the first time Louis acknowledges that.

Because it's not just about Lestat and his behavior, no it was always also about Louis and his refusal to look at himself, and at the life he now lives. At the rules and repercussions that came with that. What did Jacob say? Louis realizes in season 2 that the problem is him?^^ Something like that. Because Louis didn't really ask questions before. Did not heed warnings (by Lestat or Armand... or Claudia). And now, he's over 100 years old, and has to acknowledge some things. And by coming to terms with those... he is coming to terms with himself.

Which, as said, frees him up for the upcoming arcs.

This Louis is more of a force to reckon with, and yes, the betrayal by Armand weighs a lot more heavy. This Louis... who we know will feature much more prominently than in the books (and thankfully so!) will take action if needed. Because he's been kept passive, and docile, for decades.

And he's definitely done with that.

And as soon as he understands... and realizes... and then engages... oh I cannot wait, tbh. Jacob will be magnificent.

I cannot wait for the show to fully show us this Louis.

Because before we only saw shadow echoes of him, and an edited tale. Now, now we'll see the "real Louis".

hello . i might not be fully caught up to all of the current events , but from what i know , it is not good . like always , i suppose . the world is trying to find stability , but it seems like stability is not inherent to humanity . as soon as something settles down , someone else shakes it up again , it is just that , it seems , the length of which period of the calm significally shortens each time . mathematics are not my strong suit , but i think there is a very fitting word for it there .

so is the speed of progress . i am still bitter they did not make flying automobiles commonplace , but what they managed to do with computers over the past years is impressive .

everything just seems so bigger scale nowadays . you used to have to go to a library to learn something , to learn news you had to buy a newspaper , and films were something i had only heard of in my youth , but now it is all at the tips of your fingertips, on the internet . with all of its advantages , it tends to get overwhelming , and the laptop hurts my eyes if i look at it for too long .

i think , it is either that humanity finds a solution to its problems , or all the calamities it inflicts upon itself become so frequent it just kills everyone . with that , i would still live for a few years , but without new guests i would die . eventually . i do not know how long it could take , but that pandemic a few years back definetely was a close call for me .

Hello I know I know it's been some time. lots of spelling errors coming your way. I have started carrying around a little notebook so I can write down snippets of things that have happened so I can remember to write about them later. here we go

lets start with Saturday night. The usual group goes out and grace comes since we were close to getting back together (more on that later). We meet up with my good friend Ava at BP. Earlier in the week she posted on her story a picture of me calling me her crush as a joke bc we fuck off a lot and are idiots (love). This bitch Belle who I have hated since the day I fucking met her which was well well over a year ago.

Okay wait context: when me and P were dating his brothers formed a cutie little band and they needed a singer and idk I guess belle was friends with one of them but she joined. She always gave me shady vibes and they were reassured by her being fucking weird with P's brother while she had a boyfriend. Me and P used to talk the biggest shit about her and her behavior so all in all she has always rubbed me the wrong way. Well when she found out P and I had broken up (we were still seeing each other mind you) this bitch went full fucking speed clinging to P's dick. Posting him and asking him to hangout just the two of them, buying him things yada yada. Of course I bitched about it to P and he just amped it up bc it made me jealous.

So I have just icky vibes about her and knew they would hook up once P and I finally stopped talking. What do you know, rumor has it they do and no one is surprised at fucking all. Thank god I'm past the point where that caught me up bc it was sickening to hear about. Now it gives me second hand embarrassment. I feel like the first rule of thumb when you have a rebound is to make sure they are at least even remotely on the same level as your ex.

Anyways Ava posted me and Belle's fucking SISTER slide up going on about how I'm crazy and broke into P's house (no lmao just no) and yada yada. I wanna know if they all have so much to say why do you avoid bluepost so damn much??? yap yap yap on the internet and in my friends dm's and all ups and down town but cannot say shit to my face? Typical.

thats a really interesting take, and on point - I'm not sure how its affecting other internet users but 'cloudflare' has replaced an awful lot of my links with unobtainable error pages of one sort or another, mostly 'you can't get through our server to your destination for *reasons* - its not our fault its your destinations fault just sic - get in touch with them and let them know you have a problem - which.... if I can't see them is tantamount to: 'YOUR PROBLEM - FUCK OFF'.

The other thing is it seems to absolutely tank our internet connection speed - get a cloudflare block on a link and strangely until we reboot our router basically our connection speed is utterly fucked, drops to less than (ADSL) dialup... you know less than 115kbps ... feel like we are dropped back 20 years, but without the benefit of actually being able to connect to anything.

I guess this is the 'overprotective model' in action.

Patrick "patio11" McKenzie is a fantastic explainer, the kind of person who breaks topics down in ways that stay with you, and creep into your understanding of other subjects, too. Take his 2022 essay, "The optimal amount of fraud is non-zero":

It's a very well-argued piece, and here's the nut of it:

The marginal return of permitting fraud against you is plausibly greater than zero, and therefore, you should welcome greater than zero fraud.

In other words, if you allow some fraud, you will also allow through a lot of non-fraudulent business that would otherwise trip your fraud meter. Or, put it another way, the only way to prevent all fraud is to chase away a large proportion of your customers, whose transactions are in some way abnormal or unexpected.

Another great explainer is Bruce Schneier, the security expert. In the wake of 9/11, lots of pundits (and senior government officials) ran around saying, "No price is too high to prevent another terrorist attack on our aviation system." Schneier had a foolproof way of shutting these fools up: "Fine, just ground all civilian aircraft, forever." Turns out, there is a price that's too high to pay for preventing air-terrorism.

Latent in these two statements is the idea that the most secure systems are simple, and while simplicity is a fine goal to strive for, we should always keep in mind the maxim attributed to Einstein, "Everything should be made as simple as possible, but not simpler." 20 years ago, my friend Kathryn Myronuk and I were talking about the spam wars, which were raging at the time. The spam wars were caused by the complexity of email: as a protocol (rather than a product), email is heterogenuous. There are lots of different kinds of email servers and clients, and many different ways of creating and rendering an email. All this flexibility makes email really popular, and it also means that users have a wide variety of use-cases for it. As a result, identifying spam is really hard. There's no reliable automated way of telling whether an email is spam or not – you can't just block a given server, or anyone using a kind of server software, or email client. You can't choose words or phrases to block and only block spam.

Many solutions were proposed to this at the height of the spam wars, and they all sucked, because they all assumed that the way the proposer used email was somehow typical, thus we could safely build a system to block things that were very different from this "typical" use and not catch too many dolphins in our tuna nets:

America is a complex system. It has, for example, a Social Security apparatus that has to serve more than 65 million people. By definition, a cohort of 65 million people will experience 65 one-in-a-million outliers every day. So when we're talking about managing something as complicated as Social Security, we need to build a Social Security Administration that is just as complicated. Anything that complicated is gonna have parasites – once you make something capable of managing the glorious higgeldy piggeldy that is the human experience of names, dates of birth, and addresses, you will necessarily create exploitable failure modes that bad actors can use to steal Social Security. You can build good fraud detection systems (as the SSA has), and you can investigate fraud (as the SSA does), and you can keep this to a manageable number – in the case of the SSA, that number is well below one percent:

But if you want to reduce Social Security fraud from "a fraction of one percent" to "zero percent," you can either expend a gigantic amount of money (far more than you're losing to fraud) to get a little closer to zero – or you can make Social Security far simpler. For example, you could simply declare that anyone whose life and work history can't fit in a simple database schema is not eligible for Social Security, kick tens of millions of people off the SSI rolls, and cause them to lose their homes and starve on the streets. This isn't merely cruel, it's also very, very expensive, since homelessness costs the system far more than Social Security. The optimum amount of fraud is non-zero.

Conservatives hate complexity. That's why the Trump administration banned all research grants for proposals that contained the word "systemic" (as a person with so-far-local cancer, I sure worry about what happens when and if my lymphoma become systemic). I once described the conservative yearning for "simpler times," as a desire to be a child again. After all, the thing that made your childhood "simpler" wasn't that the world was less complicated – it's that your parents managed that complexity and shielded you from it. There's always been partner abuse, divorce, gender minorities, mental illness, disability, racial discrimination, geopolitical crises, refugees, and class struggle. The only people who don't have to deal with this stuff are (lucky) children.

Complexity is an unavoidable attribute of all complicated processes. Evolution is complicated, so it produces complexity. It's convenient to think about a simplified model of genes in which individual genes produce specific traits, but it turns out genes all influence each other, are influenced in turn by epigenetics, and that developmental factors play a critical role in our outcomes. From eye-color to gender, evolution produces spectra, not binaries. It's ineluctably (and rather gloriously) complicated.

The conservative project to insist that things can be neatly categorized – animal or plant, man or woman, planet or comet – tries to take graceful bimodal curves and simplify them into a few simple straight lines – one or zero (except even the values of the miniature transistors on your computer's many chips are never at "one" or "zero" – they're "one-ish" and "mostly zero").

Like Social Security, fraud in the immigration system is a negligible rounding error. The US immigration system is a baroque, ramified, many-tendriled thing (I have the receipts from the immigration lawyers who helped me get a US visa, a green card, and citizenship to prove it). It is already so overweighted with pitfalls and traps for the unwary that a good immigration lawyer might send you to apply for a visa with 600 pages of documentation (the most I ever presented) just to make sure that every possible requirement is met:

After my decades of experience with the US immigration system, I am prepared to say that the system is now at a stage where it is experiencing sharply diminishing returns from its anti-fraud systems. The cost of administering all this complexity is high, and the marginal amount of fraud caught by any new hoop the system gins up for migrants to jump through will round to zero.

Which poses a problem for Trump and trumpists: having whipped up a national panic about out of control immigration and open borders, the only way to make the system better at catching the infinitesimal amount of fraud it currently endures is to make the rules simpler, through the blunt-force tactic of simply excluding people who should be allowed in the country. For example, you could ban college kids planning to spend the summer in the US on the grounds that they didn't book all their hotels in advance, because they're planning to go from city to city and wing it:

Of course, the US has long operated a policy of "anything that confuses a border guard is grounds for being refused entry" but the Trump administration has turned the odd, rare outrage into business-as-usual.

But they can lock up or turn away as many people as they want, and they still won't get the amount of fraud to zero. The US is a complicated place. People have complicated reasons for entering the USA – work, family reunion, leisure, research, study, and more. The only immigration system that doesn't leak a little at the seams is an immigration system that is so simple that it has no seams – a toy immigration system for a trivial country in which so little is going on that everything is going on.

The only garden without weeds is a monoculture under a dome. The only email system without spam is a closed system managed by one company that only allows a carefully vetted cluster of subscribers to communicate with one another. The only species with just two genders is one wherein members who fit somewhere else on the spectrum are banished or killed, a charnel process that never ends because there are always newborns that are outside of the first sigma of the two peaks in the bimodal distribution.

A living system – a real country – is complicated. It's a system, where people do things you'll never understand for perfectly good reasons (and vice versa). To accommodate all that complexity, we need complex systems, and all complex ecosystems have parasites. Yes, you can burn the rainforest to the ground and planting monocrops in straight rows, but then what you have is a farm, not a forest, vulnerable to pests and plagues and fire and flood. Complex systems have parasites, sure, but complex systems are resilient. The optimal level of fraud is never zero, because a system that has been simplified to the point where no fraud can take place within it is a system that is so trivial and brittle as to be useless.

God, you hated him so much! You wanted to scream it from the top of a building how much you truly hated Wilbur. But you couldn’t

Lately, no matter what you did or said on stream, he always had a problem with it. You had been streaming Minecraft together, on the SMP. You were just messing around, no lore this time. You suggested you made a house together in L’manburg, no matter what you did, the two of you couldn't agree on a material, you wanted to build it out of birch wood and cobblestone but he insisted on dark oak logs and spruce planks would look better together. You gave up and let him have what he wanted because he was so persistent and you knew had it gone on you would have blown up on him in front of all your viewers, and that’s the last thing you needed right now. 

You were up late, last night, planning out when you were going to meet up, and just a few hours ago the two of you got along perfectly. Laughing over the phone as you were laying in bed, chatting mindlessly. You wondered what happened between then and now.  You and Will planned to meet up in the middle of next week, you were going to drive down to see him and stay at his place. Although you brought up getting a hotel room, Wilbur insisted you stay with him, too tired to resist you agreed, but now you're starting to think maybe getting a hotel room might be for the best. 

You and Wilbur ended your streams at the same time, and you sighed as soon as you were sure it was off. 

“What?” Wil asked, still in the voice chat.  “What was that back there? Why the hell are you so disagreeable?” You let out.  Will scoffed, “Me? You’re the one who kept on insisting birch and cobble when that wouldn't even fit in L’manburg!”  “Jesus Christ,” You sighed, leaning back in your chair and running your hands down your face. “How in the hell are we going to get through this month?”  “Maybe you should stop being so uptight and argumentative.” Wil shot  “Fuck you,” You mumbled before clicking out of the chat and leaving your PC. 

You needed to get out of the house and away from any form of contact you had with Wilbur and social media. You had been cooped up inside your apartment for close to a week at this point, maybe some fresh air would do you good.  You grabbed a jacket and keys before leaving the apartment, leaving your phone charging on your desk. You didn’t want to bring it with you because you didn't even want to think about getting a text or any kind of notification from Wilbur right now, you knew you would have blown up at him completely. 

The weather was just beginning to turn nice, the air was warm but the wind still had a slight winter chill to it, although all the snow was long gone Jack Frost still made his lurking presence known.  Buildings lined the walls of a small square common area where teens mostly hung out after school and on weekends. The square had a fountain in the middle of it, the water had been shut off for the winter but with the warm temperatures from the last month, it had recently been turned back on.  You sat on the ledge of the brick wall around the bottom pool for the fountain, looking at everyone passing through on this nice Wednesday evening. Older couples out for an evening walk, middle-aged business people speed walking their way home from the office, teens scattering the open area, sitting on blankets and laughing in their small groups of friends. You found watching people be interesting, it made you think. 

We are all living our own lives at the same time and most of us on this small planet don't even know of one another, or if you know of them you don't know them, you only know their name. It's weird how that works.  It's astounding to think about though, what are the chances of meeting exactly who you did, at the time you did, and what a gamble it is for them to stick around. 

You had been sitting on the fountain for close to five minutes and when the wind had just started to pick up, sending a slight shiver down your spine.  Your mind was clearer now and you were no longer angry with Wilbur, it was stupid what you fought about and as much as it pained you to admit, he was right.  You were being stubborn and didn’t take into account the surrounding aesthetic of the area. It was your fault that the disagreement broke out in the first place. 

You got home and saw your phone had been basically blown up by notifications from Wilbur, asking if you were really mad at him or if it was for a bit that you took too far, but when you didn't answer he slightly snapped you, asking if you were okay and where you were.  You answered immediately, scared he might have been worrying.

Hey! You typed, Sorry I went for a walk after stream, needed to get out. 

There you are! He responded within seconds, I got worried. 

I’m okay, I left my  phone home, needed a break from the internet and things. You know? 

You mean you needed a break from me? 

You could have sworn, had you been on a video chat with him you would have seen him frowning. You weren't sure what about that message got you, but you found yourself almost with tears in your eyes, you didn't mean to hurt him and you hoped you didn't -what were you talking about. Wilbur didn't mean anything to you, he was just someone you kept in contact with because you were in the same friend group. 

No, you typed, not the whole thing at least. I just needed to clear my head, and i'm sorry for being such a dick on stream, I didn't mean to cause that, and you were right about the blocks. 

You sighed when hitting the send button, never in a million years did you think you would be telling Wilbur, The Wilbur Soot, that he was right about something. I’m sorry. 

Christ Y/N it’s alright, really. Just don't scare me like that again, I was starting to think something bad happened to you. 

I didn't mean to scare you, Wil. 

You found yourself feeling bad about leaving him in the dark while you were out, you didn't mean to worry him, you just didn't want to hurt him by blowing up at him. 

Still call tonight, yeah? He messaged 

You nodded, even though he couldn't see you. Yeah, I'd like that very much. I'll call you before I go to sleep. 

In the time that you had been a fake couple, you and Will had started calling while you were getting ready to fall asleep in bed, you usually ended up falling asleep before he did, the sound of his raspy sleepy voice lulled you to sleep like there was no tomorrow. You'd wake up in the morning to find that Wil left the call going, you thought it was cute. Sure it might have been some highschool relationship stuff but it was cute nonetheless.

“Hello, Y/N” Will said through the phone, his voice sounding tired and soft  “Hi Wil,” You smiled, giggling slightly. Although you had just been on a voice chat with him earlier you loved hearing his voice when he was tired, it sounded like stirring honey into your morning cup of tea, or reading an old book, but specifically an old book that smells of must and age of being stored at the back of your grandparents bookshelf that hadn't been touched in years.  “You sound tired,” you mumbled, laying down with the phone resting on your stomach as you looked up at the ceiling.  “I am,” He hummed, “You don't sound very tired though, did you drink a lot of coffee today?” He asked  “A little more than usual, but I’ll be fine.” You sighed, your voice almost coming out in a whisper. There was something about talking to Wilbur before going to sleep that made you feel soft and loved, but you couldn't put your finger on exactly what it was. Maybe it was the thought of having someone there, or maybe it was just as simple as it was Wilbur and it was you.  

“Are you excited for next week?” He asked  “Right now it feels too far away to be real,”  “Who’s talking here, is it you you or is it us you?” He asked, unsure if your thoughts were good or bad “Its both,” You said. “It feels so far away to me right now, but so close at the same time and a side of me cant wait for it to get here, so we can finally meet in person. But another side of me feels like it’s good that it feels so far away because maybe something will come up and I wont be able to make it and i don’t want to think that or even say it because thats a terrible thing to say but you know how it is.” You rambled, trying your best to explain it to him in a way that he would fully understand the crossroads your mind is at, and not sound like a dick while doing it. 

Although you couldn’t see it, you could tell he was nodding along. “How about we make a deal, alright?” He started, “In these night chats, we don’t have to put on the face of the characters we play on stream and through out the day, Alright?”  You rolled over to your side, putting an arm under your head and setting your phone on the mattress by your head. “I like that. Deal.”  “Okay now tell me how you really feel about all of this” 

All the thoughts ran though your head a mile a minute, you didn’t know where to start honestly, you had a lot of thoughts but if you really looked at it and narrowed it down most of them talked circles around the same thing just using different words. 

“You promise what ever I say wont hurt you or make you flip out?” You asked  “Swear on Tommy’s life.” You could sense the smirk that tugged at the side of his mouth when he said that. “Okay,” You started with a sigh. “So I din’t really know where I stand on it anymore, at the beginning I thought this was going to be insufferable, but now that we’ve gotten into it for a few days, you’re really not that bad, but I’m still on the fence.”  “I hope come meeting, your opinion has changed a little bit more. But I do understand where you’re coming from. Its weird being able to talk off stream and such with you and not be fighting twenty-four-seven. It’s nice, I feel like I’m getting to know you better.” 

He was right, you had told Wilbur more in the last five days than you had ever in your years of knowing him. You were surprised to find out that he’s actually not as bad as you thought, but you would never tell him that bit. 

“Do you have to put on a character when we do those streams and such, Wilbur?” You asked, 

“I don’t think I do, and if I do it I don’t know what I’m doing it. It’s just something thats easy to do, I’m not sure how to explain it.” He replied “Do you have to when we’re talking like this?”  “No. Not at all, this is 100% me.” 

You’re not sure what part hit you the most, when he said he didn’t have to put on a full character mask when showing your ‘relationship’ to the public, or if this Wilbur, the tired one was the real Wilbur who you've been falling asleep with for the past three nights. You weren’t sure what you though you wanted to hear when asking him that but it definitely wasn't what you go, but maybe it was what you needed. 

The line went dead for a couple of minutes, you had the radio playing softly in the background to help you sleep better, and Wilbur seemed to be enjoying listening to you breathe through the phone.

“Hey Wil,” You yawned  “HM?” He hummed, you could tell he had his eyes closed with the phone by his face, like he did on one of your face time calls the other day.  “I’m soon gonna pass-out,” You whispered  “Thats alright, go to sleep. Get your rest, I’ll be here when you wake up, love.” He was so sweet it almost made your heart hurt.  “Okay” You nodded, but don’t hang up, okay? I like it when you’re here with me when I fall asleep.” 

You struggled to keep your eyelids open, feeling heavy and light all at the same time. You felt so light it was as if you could float away but you were too heavy and weighed down to get up and move, even if you absolutely had to move for whatever reason you don't think you could have. 

“Goodnight Wilbur, love you.” You mumbled into your pillow  “Sweet dreams.”

alrigjt look i'm not fucking done with this rant.

the reason this post exists right now is because I had to go to the shop and get my internet "repackaged". I don't know how many of you are aware of this service, so here's a short explanation:

the internet provider company has a "newcomers" deal where you can get locked into a few year long contract with a very low monthly price. I was paying just under £75/month for 1.2Gbs internet speeds. a crazy deal for a 3 year contract. Once my contract expired the price shot up to just over £110/month. "Repackaging" my internet basically allows me to renew the "newcomers" deal and get a new low price contract, to the point where there's no reason not to. Where I live, it's illegal for business' to track you as a previous customer if you no longer pay into their services, so if they didn't provide a repackaging service customers would just do it anyway by getting rid of their internet at the end of the contract, and then applying for a new service a day later.

Now here's the problem. I just want internet and thats it. nice and simple. why do they have to advertize a phone to me??? "Oh hey, I noticed you qualified for a free one-year long phone line. Do you want it?" they ask, while i'm holding my phone which runs on a different companies service. "Nah, i'm good. just internet please"

And then oh, they also offer TV/Cable! "We see that you qualify for free cable for a year as well, since you've had this contract for three years. Want me to set that up?" Anotherdeal for a service that isn't the one i came into the store for. "No thanks. I don't watch TV really. Just the internet please"

Finally, I can sign the new contract for the repackage. except of course, it's online. They have to text me a goddamn fucking link to a webpage where i sign the form. why the fuck can't this be pen and paper???? it goes even further because i had to check boxes confirming that Peakock Plus or whatever the godamn fuckshit it's called is allowed access to my personal information. Whats peakock plus???? I didnt want any streaming services. Turns out, any new contract signed for internet includes 3 free years of a streaming service they provide. If you say no to the streaming service, then you can't get the internet. i thought that kinda thing was illegal???? but i guess not?????? so now all my data is getting sent off and sold off to who knows fuck.

I'm serious. If i could get enough people together to work with me I would create my own fucking ISP, make it just Internet and nothing else. run fiber-optic line anywhere and everywhere I can, and i would even try to make it available internationally if it got big enough.

this is a mini - rant post, so shush, but i want to complain. We should break apart this stupid "TV, Internet, Phone" pile that most ISP's provide. I just want internet from you because it's required by my accomadation contract in my flat.

I do not what a phone from you. I have a cheaper phone that works better than anything you can provide.

I do not want your television. i do not watch that garbage. i don't even have a tv to hook an antenna up to. (TV's still use antenna, right?) if I wanted TV then I'll sail the sea's like I always do.

Strengths 

One of the FRIENDLIEST people you will ever meet,

He somehow knows everyone’s name even if he only met them once three years ago, 

It’s like he’s living life at a different speed because it seems like he spent the whole day with you but he also had time to see ten other people the same day?? 

He seems innocent and as if his perfect bubble of the world would pop if you mentioned something upsetting but the reality is he’ll listen to anything you need to get out and then give really good advice followed up with his usual humor.

He trusts that there is good in everyone and gives people second chances

Weaknesses 

He does really stupid things a lot

He’ll connect pipes wrong, resulting in later damage and messes

He’s always getting himself hurt, jumping too many stairs at once, making someone really angry and running for his life (Sammy’s the main one that’ll actually chase him down)

It’s like he has no sense of self-preservation

He is really trusting and some people take advantage of that

He opens himself up to everyone and forgives a little too easily

Rhea is a nonebinary person who is dating lux (another one of my oc's) growing up they didn't have the best childhood, their parents are rich immagrates from the middle east who currently work under lux's parents company, all their life they were forced into being perfect for their parents, forced to study 24/7 with no social life rhea turend to art, astrology and geology to entertain themselves, they are an artist with a major astrology and gemstone obsession ( hence why they changed their name to rhea onyx, rhea being one of Saturn's moon even tho the name originally from mythology and onyx being a gemstone ) they went through lots of hardships with their parents which in the end resulted in self discovery and ending up as lux's partner but thats a longer story for another time, even though they went trough alot they now they bearly contact their parents and live with lux and 6 cats probabaly even more cats in the future

Growing up:

Rheas parents were super strict, everything about their life had to be perfect, rhea didn't have many friends other than the neighbours kid jessie. Rhea always had to be studying, wearing what their mom commanded, acting like how their mom wished and being the definition of perfect by force and un surprisingly rhea managed to graduate with flying colors until it came time for collage thats when rhea refused to go to any collage other than art school in the end rhea ended up not going to collage at all but ended up being a commission artist

Discovering their nonbinary identity:

Even as a kid rhea always knew they didn't identify with their birth gender but they didn't identify with the complete opposite gender either so they were always left in a state of confusion in the middle not being one or another, not fitting in with the boys or the girls but being the middle, they would always wish they could be just one, to rhea it was better knowing if you were a boy or a girl then being both and neither and just something completely different, through the help of the Internet rhea ended up discovering their true identity and finding the terms that best fit them

Meeting lux:

At first rhea meet lux at a charity ball where out of panic they accidently left their sketchbook which lux later found, they started out as friends but they both knew there was more there so they started dating, when their parents found out it was by someone outting them, their parents weren't happy especially because lux is trans aswell, but in the end rhea ended up cutting their parents out of their life anyways so they now happily live with lux and their cats

How i created rhea:

Rhea is very special to me because they were my source of experimenting and finding myself, at first I wanted rhea to be completely based off me but the more I started creating the charcter and the plot lines for them the more rhea ended up becoming their own person and the more I learnt about myself and for that reason rhea will always be extreamly close to me, you guys probabaly dont know but I wrote a novel about their story which is now deleted to the public and just kept to myself, writing the novel took months, it was around this time last year I prignay started and their story still isn't complete, writing that novel was where I put my ventting in, everything rhea went through started by me going through something similar and finding ways out of problems for rhea helped me find answers in my problems, rhea was made by my intreasts and deepest thoughts which bloomed to their own person, now when writing rhea it feels less like im making a charcter but more like im discovering something new one, it doesn't feel like writing it feels making a new friend and talking to them, getting so close that they have completely become a part of you

aqua merc takes the longest time to reply bc they probably didn’t notice they haven’t --- or that they already reacted to what you said when they read/listened to you and then can’t remember what they said point by point later so they just uuuhhh blank out on replying unless they wrote down some notes when they got contributions to offer 

libra merc had already thought they replied because they had a whole experience thinking about it and mulling/reacting to it and then they just-- forget sometimes, that they haven’t actually sent you a text back. Will try to be inclusive and check in, but god-awful at doing so consistently or scheduling a time to actually TALK talk  

gemini merc just drop by whenever but when they talk, you’re gonna be there for the next 6 hours though bc the conversation is A* and you dive into a lot of topics and come to middle-grounds together

virgo mercs consults video-tutorials more than you but hey sometimes they open up to people, tries their best to be considerate which is part of why they keep things to themselves unless they know this could benefit you/them or both. Thinks a lot, solution based. You’ll probably catch them crying a lone bundled up if you live with them long enough.

aries merc might have periods of time where they just don’t live on the internet or has shit to do so they probably won’t see your memes unless you meet them in person, for me I make them sleepover and like-- have some quality time with them.
