To the person behind Albert Wesker: would you recommend S.D. Perry's novelization of Resident Evil? How does it hold up to the games? Surely it can't be as bad as the movies.

// S.D. Perry's novelizations are some of the best stories I have ever read. They do not follow canon to the degree that we know it now - two of the novels are entirely her own stories (Caliban Cove and Underworld) and they were all released before the REmake and Resident Evil 4 (and updates we have had since then, such as the Chronicles games) so some of the information is understandably wrong, but it really doesn't matter. They're all fantastic reads, and as a huge fan of the REvil narrative I found them very exciting, especially with the character development she delves into. The original books may as well have been games; she's so true to the Resident Evil atmosphere, especially as they were written well before the games became more action and less horror based. On top of that, Perry has a certain diction when she writes that make them impossible to put down - it took me just a day to read each one. My favourite is definitely Underworld.

Buy them. Read them. That's my best advice. I love them, and re-read my copies often. I also get quite a few of my RP headcanons and ideas from the tweaks she has made to the REvil-universe (such as S.T.A.R.S being a large organization and not just an independent team in Raccoon).

As for the films, we all know they flopped, and I will never get over the producers turning down Romero's original Resident Evil script in favour of Anderson's, but as a filmmaker myself, I can respect the choices they've made and the quality of the formalist aspects of the movie series, and really struggle to dislike them. As an independent franchise, they were great. They were, however, an insult to the games.

OOC, however, I have sooooooo many feelings. I agree, I agree so much. * u * I would absolutely love to see Quint and Keith return once more! To be honest, they had a lot more personality than half the characters in that game. It was heartbreaking to find out that they split up at the end, because they're just such close friends. I've written rant upon rant about how lovely they are, just like brothers, but I'll save you the reading and just say that these two are simply the best. 

I do love Chris and Jill, but let's face it, Quint and Keith are the best partners in the series. I'm really hoping to see them reunite and star in their own game, perhaps a console one. I'm not sure where I stand on Parker, but these two definitely have HUGE potential. I'm totally thinking about contacting Capcom, because I don't want them forgotten. c:> ]]
