slightly furious reminder that fish do in fact feel pain and do in fact experience fear and distress when in pain since people seem to love spreading the myth that fish don't feel pain. what is it with people assuming a creature is incapable of feeling pain or emotion just because it doesn't have complex facial muscles. come on gang

I'm as grateful for cellphones as the next person, but sometimes I think about how everyone having a phone on them at all times really did cause us to loose some things as a society. I mean - for example, kids these days will never experience their car breaking down and needing to find the nearest place with a phone they can use. They're never going to have the opportunity to tentatively approach a house only to discover that it's full of queer people having a party hosted by a transvestite to celebrate his creation of a sex homunculus, stay the night, and loose their virginity while unintentionally partaking in cannibalism. It's tragic, that kind of gay sexual awakening just doesn't happen these days because of cellphones.

are two sentences that can, should, and MUST coexist to fully understand Anakin Skywalker as a character

#watching people debate him is so interesting to me #pro-Anakin people get it right in that upbringing shapes how a person is: he’s a slave child and had to leave his mom #so of COURSE he’s going to have an iron grip on people attachment-wise #but they tend to deny Anakin his own autonomy and resolve him of every bad thing he did #when it’s like: no. he DID all of that. not just did it…but did it once then did it again #meanwhile anti-Anakin people (usually) tend to understand that Anakin made terrible choices #but again…they either deny him autonomy by making him an always-evil character #or by just downplay the relationship he has with Obi-Wan or Padme. Completely dehumanizing him.#Like the truth is in the middle: he’s a deeply complex person #(arguably more so than fandom can completely understand)#it doesn’t help it that these people either tend to be pro Jedi (anti-Anakin) or pro Sith (pro Anakin)#Pro Jedi people tend to be…Xenophobic is the nicest term for how they treat Anakin #But pro Sith people tend to claim that the Jedi are a cult (they aren’t) and Anakin was groomed by it (he wasn’t)#So they use Anakin as the sort of doll to put all of their beliefs into. i think alphonse would still experience depersonalization and dysmorphia even after getting his body back

#alphonse elric #obviously hes glad about having it back #but there's this unease at the back of his mind #because hes been put into a new body that is drastically different from the one he was in for years for a second time #and that body isnt the one he lost. it had changed so much since he was 10 and i dont even think he could recognize himself for a while #i also think thats why he got the exact same haircut he had as a kid. to feel more like that younger and more familiar version of himself.#anyway i think he would still feel like he lost another part of himself by gaining everything back #even if he hated every second of being in that armor and even if all he ever wanted was to be normal again #he still spent 5 years in that body. long enough to begrudgingly become used to it #and for his body to change instantly into an unrecognizable version of himself #i dont think he had an easy time adjusting to being so different physically #even beyond the fact that he had to spend months/years physically recovering #oughhh its such a weird and complex feeling to miss something that made him miserable #just because that familiarity is more comforting than all of the pain and overstimulation of gaining his senses back #and being a completely different person physically #i also think hed have trouble sleeping for a while and start Thinking About Things He Shouldn't at night again #this is one of those things #fma #fullmetal alchemist #fma fanart #fmab fanart #fullmetal alchemist brotherhood #fma art #fmab #fma brotherhood

Im sorry but being aromantic and/or asexual is such a beautiful, complex identity that opens up almost endless possibilities and interpretations about sex and romance and relationships and struggles within those,

and i will always absolutely LOATHE how both the outside and the aro/ace community itself have boiled these identities down to just "doesnt have sex" and "doesnt date"
