Free Websites / Tools that I use for Writing ! !
Organizational:
Notion : a personal favourite of mine. from what i've seen, unlimited projects with a variety of cards to use. it also has an mobile app with it. highly recommend.
Milanote : has some limitations on how many cards you can have but has different templates you can tinker around with. is more of a whiteboard type of site.
Hiveword : i haven't used it but it provides a novel-building template for plot, scenes, characters, etc.
Lucidchart : another i don't use but from what I've seen, it's similar to Milanote with their whiteboard style. also has a variety of templates of charts, diagrams, and more!
Helpful Tools:
OneLook Thesaurus : my go-to website for finding synonyms. also provides definitions!
Language Tool : a chrome extension similar to Grammarly that acts as a grammar-aid tool.
Character Creation / World Building:
Pinterest : a great source if you're searching for inspiration. you can also find tips and prompts on the site too!
Reedsy Character Name Generator : a name generator that include forename and surnames. has nationality specific names and a few mythic / fantasy name generators.
Fantasy Name Generator : this name generator has much more variety with character names and fictional location titles.
Inkarnate : a fantasy world-building site that I used in the past. fun fact: i made a little (it wasn't little) dragon shaped island for one story that never made it on paper.

We are heading into severe weather season in the US soon (and by soon I mean tomorrow) (disclaimer, this is all general advice. pay attention to the official weather sources in your area for alerts and important information. I am not an expert, weather info is just a hobby for me.)
National Oceanic and Atmospheric Administration (NOAA)/National Weather Service (NWS) has (for now anyways) the Storm Prediction Center (SPC) which is a great source of information to stay weather aware.
The SPC puts out Convective Outlooks. These show where thunderstorms and severe weather have the potential to pop up. (With temperatures warming up, the movement of warm air leads to convection in the atmosphere which results in thunderstorms and sometimes severe weather. There is a good blog post going into more detail here)
Specifically, the outlooks are:
Day 1 Outlook (today and early tomorrow morning)
Day 2 Outlook (the next 24 hours following early tomorrow morning)
Day 3 Outlook (the next 24 hours)
Day 4-8 Outlook (the next days, but these are never too certain due to the way the models work)
These outlooks are timestamped with Zulu time aka Coordinated Universal Time (UTC). You can see how that compares to your local timezone here.
Today (3/13/25), the weather outlook is okay, just a slight risk of thunderstorms across the US. However, Friday (3/14/25) and Saturday (3/15/25) both have a widespread risk of severe weather including strong winds and tornadoes.
If you are in any of these colored regions, stay weather aware! Now, this doesn't mean you have to panic, but keep an eye on the weather reports in your area!
I tend to check the SPC in the morning so I know when I have to really be paying attention to the weather for the day/coming days.
Below is more info on the color coding which you can read more about here. (In addition here is a powerpoint from the NWS with more information "12 Things You Need to Know: Severe Weather Outlooks")
Tips on staying weather aware, it's important to have access to several weather sources.
Check the SPC for updates!
Find your closest NWS Forecast Office via zip code on weather.gov
Keep an eye on the local news and local weather reports
Consider getting a weather radio! (info here from NWS) This is good for if you lose power/internet as you can check the automated radio stations near you
Check the radar (I use the radarscope app) but you can check online with websites like radar.weather.gov or wunderground.com
Ryan Hall Y'all is a youtube channel that livestreams during most severe weather outbreaks
More weather info:
Severe Weather 101
How NOAA Satellites Help Us Stay Ahead of Severe Weather Season
How to Use and Interpret Doppler Weather Radar
TropicalTidbits - Info on hurricanes and other tropical weather
NWS - Emergency Supplies Kit Info
Weather Prediction Center - similar to SPC but more generalized
What to do During a Tornado (via NWS):
Stay Weather-Ready: Continue to listen to local news or a NOAA Weather Radio to stay updated about tornado watches and warnings.
At Your House: If you are in a tornado warning, go to your basement, safe room, or an interior room away from windows. Don't forget pets if time allows.
At Your Workplace or School: Follow your tornado drill and proceed to your tornado shelter location quickly and calmly. Stay away from windows and do not go to large open rooms such as cafeterias, gymnasiums, or auditoriums.
Outside: Seek shelter inside a sturdy building immediately if a tornado is approaching. Sheds and storage facilities are not safe. Neither is a mobile home or tent. If you have time, get to a safe building.
In a vehicle: Being in a vehicle during a tornado is not safe. The best course of action is to drive to the closest shelter. If you are unable to make it to a safe shelter, either get down in your car and cover your head, or abandon your car and seek shelter in a low lying area such as a ditch or ravine.
NOAA and NWS are under threat from everything going on right now. (Hundreds of weather forecasters fired in latest wave of DOGE cuts.) They provide vital services and do very important research about our weather and climate. While 5calls.org does not currently have a template centered on NOAA/NWS, they have similar ones that you could reference, modify, and use. (I have modified one below that you might consider using.) (5calls.org also has other very important scripts that you might use for other issues.) Please consider calling your representatives and telling them how important weather information is to everybody and that they should be protecting it, not defunding it. Not only for severe weather, but for climate change research and more.
Hi, my name is [NAME] and I’m a constituent from [CITY, ZIP]. I'm calling to demand that [REP/SEN NAME] oppose any legislation, or efforts by the executive branch to dismantle or abolish the National Weather Service or the National Oceanic and Atmospheric Administration. The recent reduction in staff is unacceptable, and will put Americans' lives and property at risk to severe weather. Reduced warning capabilities will put lives at risk and could potentially make response and recovery more hazardous and more expensive. Thank you for your time and consideration. IF LEAVING VOICEMAIL: Please leave your full street address to ensure your call is tallied.
While this is geared towards the US, a lot of this information can be applied via resources specific to your country. And finally, to quote Ryan Hall, Don't be Scared, Be Prepared.
#weather#severe weather#information#psa#us weather#thunderstorms#noaa#nws#national weather service#i might do a followup specifically about reading radar and how to see rotation etc but with the severe weather in the next couple of days#wanted to do a brief overview#if anyone has better templates to call representatives with pls add them on. im not the best at that kinda phrasing#dont be scared. be prepared#tornadoes#thunder storms

Do you have any tips for drawing solas? you draw him so beautifully but I find his features are so hard to capture :(
Any advice you can offer is greatly appreciated ^^ !
Hi Anon! I’ve always found it hard to explain my thought process like this, but I can give it my best shot! Putting the explanation/timelapse beneath the cut because it’s a little long. (Also, sorry if this is formatted horribly, I’m on mobile and this app makes my life so hard 😭😭)
Anon, just like you, I once found Solas’s face to be the most frustrating thing in the world to try and get right. And he’s still frustrating! But, what helped me the most was figuring out what his basic shapes were and then building off of that!
Despite all of the egg allegations, his face is actually super angular! The lines from his forehead to his cheekbones are just a big diamond. His jawline is super curved as well.
Literally all of his features follow a curved line upwards, except for his sad, sad eyes. Even his nostrils are higher than the tip of his nose.

Another important note, his jaw ends at the same place where his mouth is and the inner corner of his eye lines up with his chin. I highly recommend finding a good picture of solas and mapping out his face like this to see what lines up with what. That way you can know for certain you’ve got things in the right place 😊
Here’s a quick timelapse of the above drawings! Sorry it’s such low quality lmao I don’t know what I’m doing.

absolutely feel free to ignore this if you don’t feel like babying me through it lmaoo but i’m trying to get back into my physical therapy and picked up my dad’s old hand weights. i’ve never lifted a thing in my life and i’m severely chronically ill and deconditioned (hence the pt lmao) and i was just wondering if you had any tips for absolute beginners or things i should really avoid bc i have no idea what i’m doing and have no one to ask 😭😭
Yo, T, this is great news.
If by "hand weights", you mean those like... baby dumbbell thingies? Then absolutely I can help.
Top tips:
Form is more important than weight. You need to get the movement right to build strength without injury. So, don't be ashamed to start as light as you can at first. Ensure you get full range of motion (e.g., if you're gonna do a bicep curl, then all the way down, all the way up; slow, controlled).
You'll need to warm up first. You can do this by lifting lighter weights before moving to heavier in exactly the same movement you intend to do (e.g., I'll always lift an almost naked barbell for my first set, or with very few weights, just so my joints can uh... crunch their way into motion). Some people do some band work.
Don't be me; listen to your body. If things start to bubble, pop, grind, crunch or, my personal favourite, stab you in the nerve endings, stop. Pushing through leads to injury. If you are consistent and patient, you will get better.
I recommend downloading the free app 'FitBod'. It has .gifs and videos showing you how to do hundreds of exercises. The free version won't let you 'log workouts', but you just need a pen and paper for that tbh.
I'd suggest starting seated in a dining room chair. This will stabilise you. Once you get confident, you can begin to do standing exercises.
Supplement the hand weights with body weight movements, such as shallow squats, crunches, push ups on knees (or, push ups against the wall, against the edge of the sofa).
Do mobility work. A good app for this is Pliability. Although I do shit like the Weatherman push up challenge 'cause my brain is spicy and gets bored with shit like the frog pose.
There's a link in my pinned for a workout split if you want it. Good luck, stay safe! 💪

Gingerbread house | DR3

In which Daniel and you do a gingerbread house building battle, but it goes differently than it should
pairing - daniel ricciardo x reader
words - 1687
▄▀▄▀▄▀▄▀▄▀▄▀▄▀▄▀▄
The frost had covered the window panes with filigree ice crystals that looked like delicate, sparkling patterns in the weak light. The cold drew relentlessly through the cracks, as if it were an invisible breath that crept into every little corner.
The frost clung stubbornly to the glass as if it wanted to hold it forever in its icy embrace, while outside the evening settled over the landscape in icy silence.
This weather was the perfect excuse to curl up in front of the warm fireplace with a blanket and a hot chocolate.
Countless people seemed to have the same idea as you and Daniel, as there was no one to be seen on the street for miles around. Not even a car drove through the street of the block of flats where Daniel and you had been living for not too long.
The flickering light of the fireplace and the warm glow of the countless fairy lights created a relaxed atmosphere, while the smell of your cocoa and the gingerbread scent of a scented candle lingered in the air.
Cosy blankets lay around your shoulders, while chaos reigned on the living room table.
The gingerbread house kits, tubes of icing and heaps of colourful decorations consisting of sweet treats were scattered all over the place.
"You do realise that this will be my victory?" Daniel grinned as he carelessly threw the box with the instructions on how best to assemble the gingerbread house behind him.
Just a few days ago, you had discovered the colourful boxes of gingerbread houses in the supermarket and Daniel had immediately come up with a challenge idea.
The best gingerbread house would win. However, you hadn't yet clarified the question of how it would be decided who had the most beautiful gingerbread house.
"Don't be so sure Ricciardo," you replied, giving him a serious look that only made Daniel laugh even harder. "You'll stop laughing. I swear to you."
A grin crept onto your face as Daniel rolled his eyes and then let his hands crack slightly.
"An hour, then?" the Aussie asked as he took his mobile phone out of his trouser pocket and opened the timer app.
"Yes, but first I have to get something!" you replied quickly as you jumped up and ran out of the warm room.
"Don't you dare prepare something to help you cheat!" Daniel called after you as you dived into the storeroom, which was in quite a mess, and began to look for what you needed.
A short time later, when you came back into the warm living room with the thing you had specially prepared and the warmth immediately enveloped you again and made you sigh softly, Daniel began to look at you in confusion.
In your hand, you were holding a partition that you had specially made out of cardboard so that Daniel and you had more or less a little protection from each other and could build your gingerbread house in peace so that the other person couldn't steal any tips and tricks.
"This really takes me back to my school days," smiled the Aussie as you placed the cardboard wall between the two of you on the living room table.
"Well then, I hope that puts you under a lot of pressure and makes you nervous," you replied with a cheeky grin as you placed all the things you needed for the little house neatly on the table in front of you to keep a perfect overview of everything.
It wasn't unusual for Daniel and you to tease each other on a daily basis. Sometimes even for the smallest of things. You could be forgiven for thinking that this was part of your love language.
"I told you I was going to win." Daniel looked over the partition and began to waggle his eyebrow, which made you roll your eyes this time.
"Weirdo," you commented with a giggle, before giving him a shake through his curls, which hadn't been sitting neatly on his head for a few days and would soon be in need of a bitter visit to the hairdresser.
"Okay, here we go...3...2...1...GO!" shouted Daniel and then set the timer for an hour before you set to work.
While you proceeded calmly and tactically and began to coat the house with icing piece by piece and then put the appropriate pieces into the floor, Daniel began to randomly coat pieces with icing and somehow press them into the floor, so that one or two pieces hung crookedly in the floor and quiet swearing could be heard from his side.
All in all, the room was plunged into creative chaos.
You kept hearing low murmurs coming from Daniel's direction, which made you realise that things weren't going the way he wanted.
"So, problems, boss?" you asked, while the walls of your gingerbread house were already bombproof and only the roof was still missing.
On the whole, your house was pretty straight, which could not be said of the leaning and slightly crumbling walls of Daniel's gingerbread house, which was only held together with difficulty.
"I'll be fine. How are you looking? Are you trying to divert attention from your mess?" he asked instead as he spread more icing on one wall, causing it to collapse completely.
"It looks good here, Love."
"Oh, I don't think so," he more or less shot back while trying to save his wall somehow, but he decided against moving the other walls a little so that the missing fourth wall wouldn't be noticeable.
Out of the corner of your eye, you saw Daniel fishing for the packet of gingerbread house that he had thrown across the room a few minutes ago.
"What are you doing?" Your eyebrows rose as you watched in confusion as he kicked the box back in his direction.
And then his hands, with something in them, wandered under the table over to the box.
"Danny, what are you doing? Are you trying to cover something up? " you asked indignantly, whereupon the Aussie began to shake his head wildly.
"Stop accusing me of something like that. I'm not doing anything! I'm just looking for a tissue. My fingers are sticky from all the icing!" he tried to talk his way out of it, but it was already too late, because you had already seen through him.
Without paying any further attention to the partition, you pulled the piece of cardboard off the table and looked down at his gingerbread house, which was now collapsing like a house of cards due to the light breeze from the cardboard.
"Maaan!", Daniel sulked exaggeratedly. "I put so much effort into it."
A laugh escaped your lips. It was really amusing to see Daniel sitting there, sulking like a little child and looking down at his broken gingerbread house, completely forgetting that he was literally holding the piece of wall he wanted to make disappear under your nose.
"Aha! What have we got there?" With a skilful movement, you grabbed the piece of gingerbread and waved it around in front of your friend's eyes. " You wanted to cheat! That's five points off for Huffelpuff!"
"You're seriously putting me in Huffelpuff?"
The fact that you thought he belonged in the Hufflepuff house from Harry Potter seemed to shock him more than the fact that you had just caught him in the act.
"I think the house suits you best. What did you think? Slytherin?"
In response, the Aussie just grumbled and then let his eyes wander over to the gingerbread house, which stood perfectly in front of you with barely any icing oozing out of the places where you had stuck them together.
"Your house definitely looks too perfect," Daniel more or less realised and before you could react, he had already leaned over and bitten off a piece of your gingerbread house, which made you gasp in shock.
He didn't really do that just now, did he?
"Daniel!" you moaned out his name, more or less stunned, while the typical Daniel grin formed on his lips.
"what?" he mumbled with his mouth full.
"You're really impossible. And this is anything but fair. First you try to cover up your wall and then you sabotage my house, which I built with a lot of love and effort."
You tried to remain serious, but you were anything but successful as Daniel put on a sugar-sweet pout that made him grin slightly.
"If my house isn't perfect, yours shouldn't be either," he continued to pout like a little child.
It really was always amusing with Daniel. Since the two of you have been in a relationship, it clearly hasn't been boring once. On the contrary. Every day brought something new and funny.
And there really hasn't been a single day since you've been with Daniel that you haven't laughed.
Because the Aussie made sure that you laughed at least ten times a day.
"My house was far from perfect, Danny. But you should have covered up your fourth wall much better. Then this would never have happened," you replied, shrugging your shoulders and reaching for the sweets to somehow save the little spot that Daniel had bitten off.
"Then I'll build something else. How about a second floor for your house? " he tried, literally ripping the walls off the gingerbread house before sliding close to you and sticking the three remaining walls in your face.
"Don't touch my house," you replied, playing serious, while she giggled and you actually gave in in the end.
And so in one hour you didn't build two gingerbread houses, but a two-storey crooked gingerbread house with crooked walls and ceilings, but that didn't matter.
Most of the icing and sweets ended up in your bellies when you were building the house anyway, so the house hardly had any decoration left and would have collapsed from all the icing in the end anyway.
And either way, the most important thing was to have fun. And you clearly had it.

hi! so I had a question, how long did it take you to build a following on tumblr? how long have you been writing for spn as a whole (I assume you started with it but I’m not sure I meant when did you start writing on the app mostly) and do you think it usually takes as long as it did for you for other people? (I hope the wuestion made sense)
Hi there, lovely anon!
Oh, these are great questions, and I'm happy to answer. I'm going to be referencing this post, as someone asked me a similar question.
I also talk a lot about my beginning fanfic/coming to Tumblr experience and building a following in this interview I did with the @idlingintheimpalapodcast.
That being said, here's how I got started in SPN fandom and on Tumblr, and 6 Tumblr Tips related to how I've tried to grow my blog:
Learn How Tumblr Functions
Create a Tag List
Posting Schedules, Announcements, and Sneak Previews
People are Visual (Use Images & Design Elements) + shoutouts to blogs I looked to for inspo
Support Your Fellow Writers! Reblog/Comment on What You Read & Enjoy
When I Do Get Engagement, I Reply to Comments and Reblogs
Deeper dive below the cut:
Writing for SPN & Starting on Tumblr
To be honest, I'm a bit late to the party when it comes to Tumblr. I've written for many different fandoms over the 15 years or so I've been writing fanfic, but I've been writing for Supernatural in particular since around 2015. I wrote on platforms like Fanfiction.net, and later I moved over to Ao3.
I dabbled with Tumblr starting in 2021 while I was working on a Billy Butcher x OC story for the Boys (And So It Goes). But after watching the last season of SPN, I got the SPN bug again, so I started dipping back into the fandom.
But I wasn't really that active on Tumblr until January 2023, when I wrote my first soulmate AU series for Dean Winchester, called Never Say Goodbye (Dean x soulmate!Reader).
That started a very fun journey for me in the Tumblr world, engaging with people and making friends here with awesome people! 💕
Now, here are a few tips on what I've learned in building my following. You don't have to do exactly what I did. This is just my advice based on my personal experience here:
Tip #1: Learn How Tumblr Functions
Everything has been a process of trial and error. I have a professional background in content and social media marketing, so that knowledge has helped me a lot with some elements I'll get into later.
But it took me time to learn the Tumblr landscape. I had to figure out:
Why it's important to reblog -- not just your own work in replying to people's comments, but what you read and enjoy. It's what makes Tumblr go 'round.
The different mobile vs. desktop views and functions.
How to format my posts and use hashtags that would best optimize my fics and posts, based on the most followed tags in the fandom I was writing for.
How to create design elements, like banners, dividers, and headers that matched my aesthetic and the fandom.
Make sure my blog is easy to read, visually, and easy to navigate, technically (links to my masterlists, series masterlists, tag list, my fic library side blog, Patreon, etc.).
I'm still adjusting all these things now and then as I figure out new ways to keep readers engaged, and make my blog as easy to navigate as possible.
Tip #2: Create a Tag List
A tag list is a list of blog users that request to be tagged in your upcoming fics. (See this post on tips for formatting tag lists and optimizing hashtags on posts.)
Some authors don't do tag lists anymore because they find it a hassle (and it can be), but even if you're just starting out, advertise your tag list -- I suggest at the end of a fic and in your bio, your masterlist, and/or navigation page. It will get more eyes on your posts, and hopefully more engagement.
I used Google Forms to build up my tag lists because it's easy to use and it creates a Google spreadsheet for you based on the responses you get (an idea I got from another writer who was doing the same thing). You can also create more sheets within the file to organize the responses by character, for example.
On my tag list, I gave readers options to choose which character they wanted to be tagged on based on the fandoms I write for. I also created tag lists for new series to go with the series masterlist. Like I said above, I created spreadsheets for each of these lists within my tag list form master sheet.
Now, you don't have to do it exactly this way. There are many ways to keep track of a tag list.
Some people may think my approach is too much work, but this was very successful for me in building up my tag lists and increasing my following. Staying organized is key! 🤓✌🏽
I have since created a side blog @zepskieswrites for people to follow with notifications on.
Tip #3: Posting Schedules, Announcements & Sneak Previews
When my blog started to gain traction from my first SPN series, I knew I wanted to post consistently to keep people's interests. For me, this meant once a week (sometimes more if the mood strikes me), to keep that momentum going. YouTube vloggers do the same thing for this reason. They have a set posting schedule and give announcements.
You don't have to post once a week. You don't even have to have a set schedule. That's just what I did last year to increase engagement, but also because I love to write, I was getting inspired, and I made the time for it!
Remember that writing and sharing your work and being a part of the fandom on Tumblr is supposed to be fun! At the same time, what you get out of something depends on how much time you have to put into it.
Basically what I’m saying is, I’ve put a lot of time and energy into my writing and my blog, but only because it’s been very fun to do it! 😉
Now, going back to being consistent. It can help you! When people know they have content waiting for them by a certain timeframe, and they see that you stick to that deadline, they're more likely to tune in and engage with your work.
Of course, real life comes first, always, and things can derail you, but on the whole I make sure that I keep my word when I say I'm going to post something. Tumblr has a scheduling feature that allows you to schedule posts ahead of time, which I use on a daily basis. That can help you as well.
To try and generate buzz around new stories, I give writing updates or announcements, often with sneak previews, and the dates when I plan to drop the upcoming story. When I'm writing a series, on each chapter I give a preview of the next one, so I can try to keep people invested and waiting for the next chapter.
Tip #4: People are Visual (Use Images & Design Elements)
A huge element of successful content and social media is visuals. The first thing people are often drawn to when they look at a web page, an ad, or any kind of digital content is the picture -- and any other visual elements. Then they look at the title/headline, followed by the rest of the story.
This is why I always lead with the title of the story/headline and a GIF or image at the top of the post for a story. Draw readers in with their eyes to the visual, and then the content. I now create my own design elements, including story headers.
When I got started here on Tumblr, I also took a closer look at how other popular blogs I admired were organizing their masterlists, formatting their stories with banners, dividers, tags/warnings, word count, creating tag lists, and more -- both to create their blog aesthetic and to make it easier for readers to enjoy their work on different levels -- the content itself, and the visual elements.
Shoutouts to some of those writers I looked to, who have a lovely blog aesthetic and organization: @luci-in-trenchcoats @deanwinchesterswitch @deanbrainrotwritings @dean-winchester-is-a-warrior
Form and function is a balance, and they should work together. For example, there are some design/post formatting elements that are getting popular now on Tumblr that I personally don't vibe with, because I think it takes away from the reader's experience.
Like making the entire post or story in small case. Readers that have trouble seeing small fonts won't want to read this.
or making everything in the story lower case. this just bothers me for grammatical reasons. guarantee i will be turned off from reading. 😂
Also, most people browse Tumblr on their phone rather than on desktop. (About 62% according to current Semrush statistics.) So certain things that are small in your desktop version will be even smaller on mobile.
If you have a custom blog design, some design elements may not transfer well visually on mobile vs. desktop, and vice versa. So you'll want to check both versions to see how it looks, and possibly make adjustments.
Now, this isn't to say you have to become a graphic designer if that's not your thing. There are plenty of people who share their lovely designs for free, as long as you make sure to credit them if you use one of their banners, dividers, etc. Check out @cafekitsune and @firefly-graphics, for example.
Some of them even take requests. Just make sure to check their bio to see if they state whether they're currently taking requests or not. (This also goes for writers on fic requests.)
Tip #5: Support Your Fellow Writers! Reblog/Comment on What You Read & Enjoy
This is part of the fun when you start truly engaging with the fandoms you love.
Likes are cool. Comments are wonderful. Reblogs with comments are awesome, because not only do they get that engagement/feedback that they can reply to, but the reblog helps your fellow writers get seen. And while they aren't obligated to, they might be more inclined to do the same for you.
You'll also start to develop relationships within your fandom community. This is how I've made many friends and gained new readers on Tumblr -- by reblogging, sharing, commenting on what I liked about the fics I read. 💜
I try my best to support my fellow writers, no matter how new or how popular they are. Just because a writer has a bigger following, doesn't mean they appreciate feedback any less.
Feedback gives us writers energy and fuels us to write more. It can lead to more inspiration, and to continue the series you might be so invested in.
So if I took the time to read something, if I enjoyed it, I'm usually reblogging it and sharing my thoughts, even if it's just a gif or a couple of lines, or a long raving review. 💖
Tip #6: When I Do Get Engagement, I Reply to Comments and Reblogs
Along with supporting my fellow writers, engaging with the lovely people who read my work is just good fun! It's the best part of sharing my work on here and on Ao3. And it lets them know that you value and appreciate them for taking the time to comment and/or comment in a reblog. 💓💓💓
I hope these tips are helpful! Now, to answer your last question...
Do you think it usually takes as long as it did for you
[to build a following] for other people?
Interesting, but the truth is, I'm not sure. My knowledge of content and social media marketing has probably given me a leg up, I think, even though it took me a while to learn the Tumblrscape. I've also been writing fanfic for a long time. Long before I ever heard about Tumblr.
I've spent years studying literature, creative writing, and screenwriting, and putting it into practice. I've spent years writing for other voices besides my own, outside of the fanfic world. Like anyone else, I can only go by what I've learned, my own instincts, my frame of reference, and what I want to write about next.
Like anyone else, I can only hope that what I put out there vibes with people and touches them in some way, enough that they feel comfortable letting me know what they thought about it. 💜
In the meantime, I'll just keep getting inspiration from this guy (and other characters):
