No, in ALLOR specifically Bee does not have a sparkbond with Optimus or his other caregivers, but only with Ratchet. I'll explain why, but put it below a cut because, technically, it'll be adressed/talked about later in the story and, thus, is spoilers even though it's not that relevant to the plot.

When Bee first emerged from the Well of Allsparks, he was not taken in by Optimus & Co. immediately. Instead, he was first raised by and bonded to a small group of mecha (I think maybe from Praxus? Can't check because I don't have my notes with me; ultimately it's not that important where exactly they lived) that perished in a Decepticon attack while Bee survived.

As Bee was still very young at that point, his spark was not stable on its own (like not AT ALL) and, when Autobot Search and Rescue Teams arrived, he was basically fluxing really badly. His spark was on the brink of teetering out and, in its panic, reaching out for ANY adult Cybertronian around in a really desperate attempt to stabilise itself. It just kinda happened to be Ratchet who first came close enough for Bee to latch onto. Which was also very lucky because Ratchet had the knowledge to stabilise him.

I imagine that it was kinda awkward when Ratchet kinda randomly brought Bee home from the rescue mission after that. Especially because he not only bonded to that sparkling, but also got attached to him really fast. Just: "Hey. I found this sparkling and I have only had him for half a cycle, but if anything happened to him, I would first kill everyone in this room and then myself"-typa energy.

At first, they (as in the Prime polycule composed of Optimus, Ironhide, Elita and Ratchet) planned to acclimate him to someone else and send him to neutral territory. But, then everyone else also got attached to Bee, too, and so, they ultimately decided to keep raising him. (It probably also helped their decision that, at that point, it became obvious that not even neutral territories where safe from being attacked by Cons.)

Bee has not (yet) formed sparkbonds with his other caregivers for several reasons. However, the main one being that his spark simply was not stable enough to do so for a very long time. Even though he was found and rescued by Ratchet, Bee's spark was ultimately still without the necessary support from adult sparks for a kinda long period of time. As in: it's a miracle he even survived that long on his own kinda amount of time. And that took a toll on his spark, making him prone to fluxes and growing pains and always a little delayed in growth and just, generally, unstable.

Eventually, that would smooth over and settle, but before that happened, they were afraid that introducing more sparkbonds before Bee's spark had settled would upset what precarious balance Bee's spark had found with Ratchet and harm him more than help him.

And then, by the time they were sure that Bee's spark had set, the War had escalated even further and it was hard to arrange the cerenomy. There was always someone that was sent onto a mission somewhere and even if they had time together, it was always short-lived. Then, at some point, there was also Tyger Pax and after that Bee's spark was, once again, not stable enough for bonding. As it turns out, being tortured almost to death is not very conductive for your health.

Then, they left Cybertron with the Ark and by the time a bonding ceremony would have been viable again, they had to evacuate the Ark and Ratchet, Optimus and Bee were separated from Ironhide and Elita (and Roddy who was also raised by the Prime polycule, but is older than Bee and was officially taken in by them shortly before the start of the War).

And now that OP, Ratchet and Bee are stuck on Earth without the other three, they might have the opportunity and ability to perform a bonding ceremony with only the three of them, but... they kinda don't want to. Like, it's a whole family thing - all of them or no one. It would just feel wrong to do it without the others. And, just because they are not bonded, does not mean that they are less of a real family. They have, after all, been a family for a very long time now. So, they are waiting for when they get all back together to perform the bonding ceremony.

Optimus, Ironhide and Elita absolutely do act just as much as Bee's parents as Ratchet does, though. They are just not bonded.

I'm sorry that it's so complicated. ^^" Honestly, I am not even sure when or why I made it this complicated. It's not that relevant to the plot.

I think that maybe it was in response to plotting out another story (Champions Aren't Born) and realising that I was going to have to focus more on Bee and Optimus' relationship there than I first anticipated (not a bad thing, I'm really excited for that, too; just different from what I first wanted to do with that story), so I wanted this one to put Bee and Ratchet in the foreground.

TLDR: Basically, Optimus, Elita-1, Ironhide and Ratchet raised/are raising Bee (and Hot Rod, for that matter except they actually took him in before the War) as a group effort even though Ratchet is the only one who has a sparkling bond to him. They do plan on remidying that, but only once they all get back together.

UPDATE: After talking with a British friend, I have also learned that going to the pub is essentially the equivalent of going to Red Robin. It is a place with alcohol, that does not mean that it's closed to minors or families. Pubs are as embedded in British culture as McDonald's is in American culture. And we don't actually see Hobie drinking there, so yeah he's probably 18ish but this is not proof.

ALSO they have informed me that because British teens grow up in and around places with alcohol, they tend to want to visit other places with alcohol like bars and clubs sooner. As a result, most British teens grow up two degrees of separation from someone who can get them a fake ID. And after they use that fake ID to get into bars and clubs, they usually find it not at all what they were expecting and then go back to hanging out at pubs.

tl;dr: pubs =/= bars, going to a pub =/= being of drinking age (This is fascinating cultural knowledge I'm glad to have now that actually does add a lot of depth to Hobie's character for me.)

I see you refer to Kris and Noelle as besties a lot. I haven't played the weird routes yet and I certainly don't know the normal route dialogue like the back of my hand, but I thought that Noelle and Kris were estranged family friends, not super close anymore, before the events of chapter 1. That view is specifically because of Noelle's private blog post about Kris from Spamton Sweepstakes (https://deltarune.com/kris_dreemurr_kris/). Noelle wrote, "Even then, with my eyes open, there were times when I wasn't even sure if we were friends." What do you think about this blog post?

well ok first of all when I called kris and noelle 'best friends' in my noelle post which im assuming is what this is about it was after about 3 paragraphs about how significantly they had drifted apart after dess's disappearance. I'd certainly not call them besties as things currently stand, but i think that BEFORE dess's disappearance and the player's takeover of kris they were at minimum the most consistent friend in each other's lives. the real point of that post was that i think they were probably significantly closer than noelle leads the player to believe based on her dialog alone, and that she is an unreliable narrator when it comes to she and kris's relationship. If I listed out every piece of evidence I can think of off the top of my head that she and kris were close this post would get insanely long, but literally just walking around her room in chapter 4 will paint you a pretty clear picture. she had a cactus named after them. and when she mentions that berdly renamed it kris gets pissed off about it in the flavor text afterwards.

as for that blog post, I kind of think taking that one line out of context does a disservice to the picture that is actually being painted here, because honestly I'd argue that the full text supports my point even more. full text of the post for context:

It's funny... there was a time when they were coming over almost every day. We'd play, and we'd play... then after a while, they would suddenly get very still, like they were remembering something. They'd go into the dining room to "get a snack," then after a few moments, I'd hear the piano. The first few times, I went into watch them play, but when they realized I was looking, they'd always shut the piano and come back. So over time, I just started staying on the couch in the living room. I'd lie there, listening to them play, sometimes for hours, sometimes even until I fell asleep. Even then, what were they thinking about me? Maybe they weren't thinking about me at all. They didn't have a piano at their house, so they probably just came over to use mine. Even then, with my eyes open, there were times when I wasn't even sure if we were friends. But when I closed my eyes, it felt like a concert just for me.

Yes, there's a level of removal going on here. Noelle doesn't quite understand kris's motivations and is struggling to contextualize their actions because of this. But I think it's important to remember that this blog post is recounting the memories of a young child, and written from the perspective of a teenager, so it would probably be a miracle if nothing got lost in translation. This is Noelle reflecting on a relationship which has very clearly changed drastically in recent years, and if there's one thing we know about noelle it's that she's avoidant as shit. It's nowhere near above her to recontextualize memories in her own head in order to make her previous relationship to kris feel less personal, so she won't have to feel as sad about losing a close friend. We literally watch her do this in real time in snowgrave--painting over and/or blocking out memories that scare and upset her in order to avoid reckoning with those feelings. I think she likely finds this easier to do with kris because kris seems to have been pretty introverted and kind of. weird in the ways they expressed affection towards her as a child (particularly the pranks she so often mentions) which makes it easier for her to spin their relationship as something obligational rather than true closeness. But because Kris was such a big part of her life for so long, her altered memories are still imperfect. In the same post where she says kris probably wasn't thinking about her at all she also mentions that kris was at her house every day and that she felt an intense personal connection to their music. And for what it's worth, there are at least two other pianos in town that kris easily could have used if all they wanted was to practice--one in the church's choir room and one in the hospital. They weren't at the holiday house purely to use that piano. more likely than not they really were playing for her.

im gonna start posting fanfic recs btw whenever i find good ones. both here and my (awfully barren) 18+ account. because there are so many good fics out there with so few hits and fewer kudos and sometimes no comments period and it SUCKS because i REALLY LIKE THEM A LOT.. and i hope that by linking them here and yelling at everyone to COMMENT DAMMIT they might actually do it

seriously though any comment means a lot. most people who read a fic don’t even give a kudos. even if the fic wasn’t top tier, if you didn’t dislike it, hand over some kudos!! and if you liked it, comment!!!! even if the comment is one singular heart emoji it will be appreciated. if the comment just says “great fic!” the author will be happy. your comment doesn’t have to be this long winded gushing or analysis.

so many authors quit writing or lose motivation because the comments are few and far in between or just sometimes nonexistent. trust me when i say authors don’t care about how long or cool or smart sounding your comment is i promise!!!

Soooo you established in your headcanon post that Sam largely didn’t leave his apartment after his most recent unemployment, which makes a lot of sense! Buttt considering that the whole apocalypse thing and that he has TONS of people moving in with him for basically two weeks, how do you think he adjusts? Because like even between those whose presence kinda demands his attention (the kids, Leigh, Dan, Xaria and Monty) and those who might not be as loud but are certainly still THERE (Hellen, Morton, Roaches, Ernest, Papineau), I imagine that it’s a lot to handle, end of the world or not.

Thanks for sending the ask and trust this was not a lot of words, I'm, unfortunately, an absolute yapper about this game🥲 I still do find it crazy that people like my hcs about this game, I fr just think that I'm yapping without any substance or adding nothing new to the conversation so it's nice to know that at least for some that not the case. Also it's not a bother at all to send an ask, I'm genuinely just really so slow to answer asks. But I do love receiving them, really I do :) And I actually hope YOU have a great day! But to answer your question, I think there would be an initial period of difficulty adjusting to such a large influx of people. Apocalypse or not such a drastic shift in what he'd considered to be his normal would mess with him. I already headcanon him as being an introverted person but not too introverted if you get what I mean. Like he doesn't mind having company, in fact I believe he enjoys having company over considering how quickly you can get the loneliness status in game. Our unemployed king absolutely misses those quick conversations with Clint and some of his neighbours 😔✊

But how Sam responds and adjusts to this living arrangement would definitely be dependent on the rate at which he gets new recruits/ friends and which friends show up. Like if in a run Sam were to get Hellen in the first few days, then Joel then the Rat Baby, it'd be chill. He'd have to adjust to each individual person first before he can even think about understanding the personality of the next person so the order in which he meets and houses these people are important for his reaction. Like Hellen is a very private person so she wouldn't bother him and she'd look after the Rat Baby if Sam ever needed to run errands. Joel is surprisingly self-sufficient, he'd just mind his business and play with the Rat Baby from time to time. Rat Baby already has the other two so it'd be okay too. Sam would just need to cook for them, clean the baby and take care of himself. He'd be okay if not a bit tired from the uptick in responsibility. It would be a comfortable slog through those 15 days as it would be similar to how his life was like previously but with people who would respect his boundaries and provide him with pleasant company. But that's only one party/ friend combination and honestly one of the better ones. There are somewhere between 20 to 140/150 potential party combinations with specific dynamics, interactivity and reactions dependent on the number of party members Sam's housing and how he'd react to all those people.

But that's just an example of the way in which Sam would adjust to a more controlled number of recuits/ friends. The way in which I see it is that dependent on which order he recruits people, that adjustment and acceptance period would fluctuate for all 12 companions (I'm including Rat Baby for this). Since there really isn't a concrete companion recruitment for the game, I'm just gonna use the recruitment rate that's popular in the community. In order of recruitment that's Joel; Rat Baby; Hellen; Leigh; Sophie; Dan; Xaria and Monty; Papineau; Morton; Roaches and Ernest.

I'm not gonna list Sam's reaction to every single one because then this post would just become impossibly long and I'm already gonna post a really long post for another topic so I'll just do the ones that stand out to me.

That prior order of recruitment wouldn't be too overwhelming initially but it'd definitely have Sam beyond exhausted. Xaria and Monty would absolutely have Sam doubting whether or not even letting a single person in was a good idea, I can see him having quite a few mental spirals about them alone, that loss of privacy and comfort in his room would do numbers to his psyche and moral. The kids (Rat Baby included) would have him extremely tired, his sleeping arrangements are crappy enough because of Xaria and Monty, now he needs to be at 110% just to keep Joel from accidentally cutting up Sophie whenever they get into fights. The Roaches would definitely be the most peaceful out of all of the companions because they stay completely out of the way and provide a greater incentive by occasionally giving gifts. They'd definitely be a breather for him in terms of just dealing with more difficult companions as they don't need much and aren't a bother, a nice contrast to the constant chaos and confusion of the other companions. But Sam would absolutely be on high alert 24/7, making his anxiety skyrocket and worsening my headcanoned OCD. That spiral would be inevitable but at least while that happens, the others like Hellen and Papineau would support him through that. At least while Sam spirals, doubting himself and wondering whether or not he should just give up on everything, he'd have a safety net.

It'd definitely be like a hostel/ shelter (I think that's the word in English still not the best at this) situation. They are a found family but they are still individual people with individual needs that need to be met. I headcanon that, despite what the game shows, they all do take turns cooking food from time to time. They rotate chores frequently and even sleeping arrangements are rotated frequently. Which is to say that Sam wouldn't have to deal with the total upkeep of up to 11 (12 if you include Rat Baby) different people with clashing personalities alone. The adults at least seem mature enough to recognise that.

But yeah he'd be tired, he'd be overwhelmed, he'd question whether or not it was a good idea to even let any of them in. His mental and physical health would absolutely decline because he'd be overwhelmed will all of these responsibilities that he'd forget about his own well being. But Sam would recognise that ultimately, as exhausting as it is, he'd love it anyways. He would get better at juggling this. Even when he spirals, his friends would pull him out of that. But his energy levels would be at an all time low but he'd be happy.

Tldr: Depending on the order in which Sam befriends people, Sam's adjustment to them varies. With the total friend/ companion count, that would have Sam constantly tired but appreciative of them although he's constantly on high alert.

If I may ramble a bit on The Pitt and the debates around shipping and some things I've noticed over the last few episodes. First of all...

Some fans:

Heteronormativity and homophobia is a mighty powerful drug. Even more powerful than the ones Langdon's been stealing, ahem.

Hey, if you thought Abbott was flirting with Mohan or you even ship it -- coolio, have fun with it. But then don't judge similar workplace (and less of an age gap) dynamics between two women.

Garcia and Santos have been openly flirty and going through complicated tension already in their brief interactions, without question and the reaction has been far less kind. And newbie Dr. Ellis and Santos had some *vibes* as well in this last episode. But Ellis is also Santos's superior and a Black woman so I'm sure non-wlw fans will also call that "inappropriate" due to the layers of double standards happening.

Look, I know there's been some debate, some fans saying "shipping on a show like this is crazy, there's no romance" while others are picking up on obvious and purposeful romantic elements and just enjoying it because that's what fans do. Ultimately, I think the show does a great job of balancing the human nature of the various non-platonic dynamics without it being too pushed or dominant at all.

You've obviously got Robby and Collins with a complicated, gut-wrenching history and deep connection.

You've got Whitaker flirting with that nurse that was nice to him.

You've got Javadi crushing hard on Diaz and flopping in asking him out on a date.

And even (FREE HER!!!) McKay's ex obviously still hung up on her.

There's a lot of romantic entanglements they're alluding to and toying with whether it be friendly exes, toxic exes, innocent crushes, hardcore crushes, possible love interests, open flirtations, sexual tension, etc.

And they pull all of this off to a level that has people shipping and having fun with it by now yes, but it not being so dominant that it takes over the show because they have so much more to be focused on. It's not Grey's and nobody is slipping off to screw each other in a supply closet, but it is still a show that is realistic, and IRL people get together with people they meet at work all the time.

So could I see perhaps Santos and somebody having a "thank God that hell is over" hookup letting off steam at the end of a shift, or Whitaker asking the nurse if she wants to grab a coffee some time before he leaves, or the show picking up in Season 2 with certain people starting to date or resuming dating each other during the time gap between seasons (if there is one)? It's very possible. And I hope they do little things like that along the way. Because "shipping" doesn't ruin shows. Shipping wars can be... ugh. But romance itself doesn't ruin things that focus heavily on the human condition.

We all came for the diverse, powerful representation of the medical field in a high stakes environment with incredible performances. But over time, fans will stay due to the attachments they form with these characters, and that includes more than just their ability to hold a scalpel or crack a joke or have a rough day at work -- as that interest only lasts so long, otherwise people would simply watch documentaries and YouTube videos of medical procedures, lol.

Just remember --

Part of what has made some of the patient deaths and struggles SO intensely gut wrenching: the relationships they have with those around them. A grieving spouse. A young boyfriend who just lost his young girlfriend. A woman whose disabled husband died right next to her in the shooting as she tried to protect him and now she's traumatized. Love -- both for platonic/friendships/family AND romantic -- drives (a huge portion of) us as people. And it's okay to explore that in shows like this. And it's okay for fans to latch on.

Because what's great about this show is it's all about representing doctors and nurses and other front line workers as flawed but heroic PEOPLE, especially after COVID, and we can't and shouldn't erase an entire part of their lives or identities in terms of their romantic relationships, which they at times sacrifice because of the emotional and others demands of the job. To erase their capacity to flirt, to love, to lose, to crush, to fuck, to marry, to date -- and the ability for fans to discuss these things, make jokes, make fan art and pics -- especially amidst all the HELL they go through -- is to remove part of the human element that this show inherently explores.

So, I say let's ship away but also be careful to avoid hypocrisy and low-key misogyny, racism, and homophobia at play with some takes.

I'm so curious about your writing process, could you please shed some light on how you approach it?

Aside from already having a vision for the plot, do you have ideas about scenes you want to include and then write the chapters around them, so to speak? Or is it more like, "the goals of this chapter are to reach this and this checkpoint with each character," and fill in the blanks like that?

I don't recommend the way I write to anyone ever but to be honest, I go off of vibes a lot.

I have a vague outline in my notes with rough chapter numbers attached and pivotal moments that push the plot in different directions (the cheating reveal, who ???? is, the choices you can make in response to the cheating and starting a new route/what happens during them or choosing a career, the setting changing, mc's family appearing)

the rest is kind of improvised. I have a couple long scenes/convos written and saved in a doc and go from there but I've never been someone that managed to write a full chapter outline beforehand/went into details and stuck to them (I wish I did though lmao)

at the beginning of starting a new chapter I look at my IF outline and decide how far I want the plot to progress and how to make that happen. then I write down every new idea I have for a chapter at that moment and decide whether to shift a specific interview to a later chapter or if they should continue the tour then/how long they stay in a city and what happens during those scenes/what should be revealed about R and mc or any of the other ROs during one-on-one scenes/if a new character introduction makes sense.

editing is where I go in and take note of the details I included/side plots i should expand on and include them into my outline to remember later on! so the outline is kind of filled out as I write.

which is. bad. but it worked for all my projects so far and it hasn't failed me yet! :)

listen. hyena and raccoon are thrown around a lot. for what it’s worth, i DO somewhat see the feral, bloodthirsty interpretation, and i must say i agree with the hyena hc to a much greater degree (it’s imagining a hyena’s teeth that convinces me). but i’ve always thought of barty as slightly less primitive and more…precise. he’s savage and deadly but the way he poses a threat is not through unrestrained, barbaric brutality, but more through a calculated, cruel precision. yes, there is a part of him that wants to rip things apart with his teeth but in the grand scheme of things i can’t help but see barty as delivering a final blow not with a raw savagery, but with a razor sharp, poisoned sting. he is somewhat impulsive, like when he lunges at harry at the end of gof, but more than that, he is so calculated. he seems so much more machiavellian and cunning than uncontrollable and barbaric to me, especially thinking about the detail of his plotting in gof. he builds a whole situation, sets everything up so perfectly, and his plan SUCCEEDS. all of his dominoes fall right into place and voldemort returns, and barty doesn’t necessarily ‘win’ here through brute force, by ripping anything apart, but by carefully piecing something together. he constructs a near perfect plan and. it. works. even the way the story is written presents a final, deadly blow of the portkey and the graveyard, rather than a constant sense of attrition. barty’s final blow is venomous and fatal and, above all, PRECISE. harry is sent into that maze with every piece laid out perfectly, and no one even knows. it’s perfect.

this was supposed to be short but i just had another thought. the story of the scorpion and the frog. the overarching moral of the story is that vicious people cannot resist hurting others even if it hurts them as well, which i see as relating far more to regulus than to barty, who i don’t believe would never do anything not in his own interest. however, something else that i pick up on is the scorpions attitude. from the moment he agrees to his deal with the frog, he knows he his doomed. he knows his own nature and he knows what he will do. he accepts his fate and he drowns, just as he knew he would. to me, this is like barty knowing and accepting the risk he is in when first joining the de, then knowing that from the moment regulus and evan and his mother die, he will join them soon enough. to me, barty has accepted his fate by gof, and he sets out on his mission knowing what will happen just like the scorpion setting out on his journey across the river did. doomed from the start, and he goes down with a smile. he still got what he wanted, in the end.

hot take moment cwilbur is literally just psychotic as all hell and i think people got way too comfortable villianizing the shit out of a man who was clearly portraying signs of severe mental illness. cwilbur was like im so fucking paranoid and scared and i think everyone is out to get me and hurt me and ive spiralled to the point i cant reach out to the people closest to me because im so afraid and lost in this spiral and im having constant panic attacks and hurting myself because i dong know what to do with myself and the only way out for me is to die. and everybody was like EVIL MAN WHO ENJOYS HURTING OTHERS AND IS ABUSIVE ON PURPOSE AND A VILLAIN AND SHOULD NEVER BE TRUSTED AGAIN. and then he came back and was like im still deeply troubled and afraid but im desperately trying to make up for the wrongs i did in the past and the people i hurt in my own way and communication is really hard for me but i hope people know that im truely sorry and i love them. im going to try my hardest to fix this in the only way i know how and then respectfully remove myself from the situation because i feel thats the kindest thing i can do to the people ive hurt. and people were like ABUSER ABUSER ABUSER EVIL MAN ABUSER. like girl

I'd hope I manage to portray Wilbur the way he deserves in my content, cause that man is heavily bpd coded and he just needs therapy and someone who genuinely loves him but also can handle his bullshit (which has exclusively and reliably been Quackity like, canonically)

But yeah no completely agreed. The man has issues and has definitely fucked up a lot but at the end of the day he really does need love and care and patience, but also boundaries (and therapy and meds, obviously)
