summary: Are you going to let your pride get in the way of what matters most?

Part 8, Part 10

Damian was watching you and Miles from afar. It was clear you two were close. He was, a little jealous. But he was quick to brush it off. He knows there is a bond between you and Miles stronger than the one he has with you. So, he won't fuss about it.

"Damian right? you waiting for Y/n?" Rio suddenly came up behind Damian and handed him a cup of juice.

Damian takes the cup and thanks her. "Yes. . . Mrs. Moralas. Do you know any, Miguels involved with my sister?" Damian looked up at Rio, with an innocent curious face.

"Miguel . . . Miguel? No. No, I don't think so? Why?" Rio hoped it wasn't some boy she was involved with.

"Just, wondering."

Bruce was staring at the graffiti art of your mother. He felt, sadness, guilt. Sad because he was too late to be there for you and your mother. Failed to support your mother when she probably needed it the most. Guilty, because he could probably never love your mother as strongly as you do.

He glanced over to where you and your cousin were standing. That was when he sees you actually letting your guard down completely. You looked so, tired. Like the heavy burden he sees you with, doubled by a ton. Yet, you seemed peaceful. Maybe because, your cousin seems to share the same look as you did.

He knew those looks. For a second. a suspicion creeped into his mind. But he was quick to shake it off.

'Impossible'

he would think to himself as he lets out a low chuckle. What a silly thought.

The party ended and you and the Waynes stayed behind to help clean and what not. Bruce got to see a lot of your baby pictures thanks to Rio and Jeff.

It was pretty fun, spending time with both families. Even Jason was being tolerable. While everyone was interacting with each other in the living room, Damian slipped away. decided to explore down the halls of the apartment. Pictures of you and Miles on the walls. Family trips, graduation. Every achievement framed and hanged on the walls.

Damian eventually found Miles room. The door was left slightly ajar. He would usually just go in and snoop around. But something was holding him back.

"Hey."

Suddenly Jason was behind him. Catching him off guard while he was deep in thought.

"Todd. What are you doing?" Damian spoke firmly as he glared up at the older. Jason just shrugged and chuckled "Doing the same as you. Taking a look around of course." Jason pushed past the younger boy and entered the bedroom.

Scanning the room, seemingly trying to search for something.

Damian frowns deeply and stomped into the room. "We shouldn't be in here."

Jason scoffs as he picked up a photo of you and Miles together. Dressed in your Sunday best. Smiling without a care in the world.

"Scared your big sis will get mad at you?" Jason mumbled as he set the photo face down back on the table. His eyes scan the desk. Drawings. He walked up to the desk and picked up the papers. shuffling them. looks like drawings of suits. Super suits to be specific.

Spider womans suits to be more specific.

It didn't look like some fanart or just little doodles. These were details. Upgrades with little gadgets.

"He's in on it." Jason mumbled to himself. Realizing your cousin Miles knows your secret. This gives Jason a lot of more information on you now. Proving some theories he had of you. And changing some others.

Damian just stood behind Jason. He didn't understand what Jason said. Nor did he care.

"Stop it Todd. This is an invasion of our hosts privacy." Damian demanded. Jason couldn't help but scoff humorously once again

"Cheap coming from you."

Suddenly two shadows from the open door were noticed by Damian. Before Damian can turn around. A deep voice spoke.

"You should listen to the kid."

When Jason and Damian turn to the door. They were greeted by you and Miles leaning on each side of the doorframe. Glaring at the both of them with cold stoic looks. Your glare was mainly aimed at Jason.

"Y/n I-" Damian was panicking a little. You walked into the room an put your hand on his shoulder. Giving him a small smile. Not the sweet one you usually give him. You were giving him the smile that looked empty.

"Go back and join the others cupcake." You ruffled his head and nudged him along out of the room. You signaled Miles to go along with Damian just in case he wonders off.

"Your cousin a fan of Spider woman? Does he know about-" Jason held up the paper drawings. You snatched the drawings out of his hand with a scowl, you roughly grabbed him by his collar and held him up the ground with your super strength.

"Whoa whoa!" Jason held up his hands in surrender, but he still had that damn smirk on his face. He was enjoying seeing that he pissed you off.

"We made a deal. I suggest you stick to that only." Your tone was an uneasy calmness as you spoke. You carelessly dropped Jason and stormed out of the room.

Jason huffed in annoyance, getting off the floor. You just gave him a warning.

It was time to leave and get back to Gotham. Bruce and the boys were heading back to the limo as you were saying your goodbyes. You and Miles gave each other a tight hug. You sighed as you pulled away. A sad look in your eyes.

"What?" Miles knows somethings wrong. You just, stared at him while holding him by his shoulders. The kind of look that seems far away.

"Nothing. . . love you, bye." You gave a small smile gently cupping one side of his face before letting go. Miles chuckled and smiled back.

"Bye!" He waved as you walked to the limo.

Back at Gotham. It was late in the night. You had gotten an alert from the watch. An anomaly showed up. In Gotham. You were quick. You took out the anomaly before it could do any serious damage.

But before you could get back to the Wayne mansion. You got another alert. You took care of it. Then another showed up.

It wasn't till the sun began to come up did you finally get back to the mansion. You haven't had a night like that in a while. As you laid in bed. Gwen came to mind. Her words.

Her warning of how Miles and Aaron not being able to be your replacement for long.

The anomalies were getting stronger. The more you just laid there and thought about it, the more fear began to creep into your mind. The possibility of losing Miles and Aaron. So many possibilities. Dear God, did it scare you.

You needed help. And you knew the Spider Society could help. But you were too prideful to go back to them. Selfish, you know.

You sighed and sat up from your bed. You grabbed your phone. Instantly greeted with your lockscreen of you and Miles. You stared at it for a moment. His smile. He was always the more joyful one between the two of you.

". . ."

You love Miles. You really do. But you just, can't physically bring yourself to reach out to the Society for help.

More hc!! (They are all mini essay's again:})

Todd has a strined relationship with his parents but is closer to his mother, sense she was always more warm to him and he has less bad memories. (There's a few and there really bad, like they thing when he thinks about him) he's still second to Jeff, like his mam will fawn over Jeff than todd, unlike his dad who just goes on about Jeff and only Jeff.

Meeks is a complete and utterly mamas boy, he is a carbon copy of his mother and she loves it so much. She fawns over him and happy she is that they look the same. (They also have similar interests, she's a big nerd to and his dad's more sporty but loves him non the less) also super close with all his aunts

Pitts adores his both his parents, he lives baking with his mom and gossiping and talking about who he likes and blah blah. (She's really cool and chill, like super excepting of everything) but also his dad, they go photographying together and was the one who got him into it.

Knox loves both his parents, not super close to either but very close to his grandparents on his mom's side (his favourite is his grandad) also adores his nana on his dad side, helps take Carr if her alot (she has dementia and also his grandad is dead)

Charile likes his parents, doesn't love them and isn't close with either and pretends he doesn't care. (He does and desperately wants their love, part if the reason he acts out sm) he's closest with his older sister and would die for her. (She loves him just as much if not more)

Neil is complicated, he loves both his parents even if it's hard. He's nit very close with either, his father is to strict and controlling (Neil's understands why he's like that but still hates it) and his mother is very closed off (she has some from of depression, I don't think she wanted to marry Mr Perry but was forced and it effected her badly over the years. Plus his lack if effective make it worse)

Cameron loves his parents and they love him, but in more of a "i love you cause we're family and I have to" way. I don't think Cameron was panned for and it made their lives very messy (also partly why the moved to England) they were never bad to Cameron, they act very much like aunt/uncle and nephew. So their all close but not in a typical way basically. Unlike with his little sister, she was planned and they are great parents. (Cameron knows this and doesn't care, it does sadden him somtimes but he loves his sister to much ti really care)

He's probably closer with his grandparents (Mostly his granny) his granddad is a bit old fashion and also very old so he can't do alot. But his granny is very relaxed and fit so she does alot. (He helps her and takes care of them both when he can)

5. What's the first song that comes to mind when you think about them?

(okay imma do both and then each character) prepare for 90% Taylor Swift lmao

For the both of them obviously there's sooo many I have an entire playlist. But if were going based on canon the first ones that come to mind are Enchanted by Taylor Swift, Lover You Should've Come Over by Jeff Buckley, and I Hate It Here by Taylor Swift has to be mentioned bc it inspired My Lady Ginny <33 (+++bonus Paper Rings bc of the first verse)

When it comes to Charlie I mean, it's gotta be The Archer by Taylor Swift. Like... "they see right through me" and "cause all of my enemies started out friends" GUT ME.

And Ginny has always been Clara Bow by TS to me, like I think it just so perfectly encapsulates her exhausting battle to be seen by someone worthwhile. "It's hell on earth to be heavenly" as if she is only noticed when she performs. UGH idk I just associate it with her so much.

20. Which other character is the ideal best friend for this character, the amount of screentime they share doesn't matter?

Ahhh you're gonna hate me.

For Charlie I really do think it was Neil. I think he didn't always show it, at least not in a super obvious way, but it was apparent that they were close, certainly not in the same way Neil was with Todd, but they were definitely really good friends for a long time. I think Neil's death hit him really hard because Charlie was always inherently the "protector" of the group so to speak, even if it wasn't super obvious until the end of the movie. So when he couldn't protect his closest friend, I think part of him blamed himself.

But I also think him and Meeks get along swimmingly, they both have that sarcasm and sass going for them and I think they just have a similar sense of humor. But Neil was more personal while Meeks was more social (at least until post-canon when they most likely get closer).

For Ginny it's hard to say, I don't think her and Chris are actually all that close. She might have some theater friends and I do think her and Neil got along really well, but ultimately I think she would adoreeee Pitts and Meeks. Like, I don't know, I've just always envisioned them all getting along, possibly gaining up on Charlie at times, just to drive him nuts. I think she might find more girly friends later in life but as far as who's in the story, Pitts and Meeks for sure. But I also can see her and Todd getting along, despite the fact that he can tend to be distant, especially after Neil. They may be more friends of company than super social, but I can see Ginny making an effort with him.

Hey, who knows, maybe Chet marries someone cool and they become like super iconic in law besties haha.

I always wondered this theory with todd. I wonder if david holds resentment and partially blames todd for introducing jeff to the friend group back in the day and now with everything that's gone on. I do find it interesting that todd was not part of davids comeback vlog. Despite jeff saying he's not friends with todd, I think he has had communication with him

Hmm, not too sure about David holding resentment. I just remembered when Jeff joined the VS, Heath had reservations about him. Heath said ‘what are your intentions here’. I don’t think Heath was ever sold on Jeff. Also out of all the guys in the VS Jeff was the least close with Heath.

I think everything is cool with Todd and David. It’s probably a little awkward because him and Natalie broke up and David is super close to Natalie and has known her longer. Todd and Jeff may be civil and may message one another. When Jeff goes off at the VS he usually just brings up David obviously, Natalie, Jason and Maybe Jonah. It’s only on the odd occasion he mentions Todd. I think Jeff will always have a soft spot for Todd as there friendship was genuine, they had a lot of memories and closeness

-aro/ace (flux?) -has bi wife energy -how I imagine his personality is: if personalities of Nick Nelson, James Potter, and Dawson Leery had a baby, if that even makes sense -k so he’s bubbly, extroverted and the sweetest people person, who may come across as cocky -loves puns and making them no matter how cringy -takes pride in being french, yk, speaks it all the time with his mom, cooks traditional France recipes, watches French movies etc -I saw someone hc that Jeff speak French when he’s exited and Todd speaks it when he’s mad, whoever that was, I love you - had the classic “why am I like this *cue Orla Gartland*” moment

-blond curly/wavy hair -hazel eyes -5 11” (five feet eleven inches tall) -freclesssss -has reading glasses

-the kid is a neat freak, like if his room gets messy(like when he gets burnt out or busy studying) actually can’t function for a few minutes will get anxiety attacks from it (cause he’s just like me fr) -says “do you know how many germs are on your hands-???” daily -accidentally flirts with everyone (doesn’t realize it) -people call him a player and he genuinely doesn’t know why people keep calling him that (bless his aro/ace soul)

-him and Todd have/had a relationship like: Jonathan and Will Byres, Syd and Liam Novak, and Gordie and Denny Lachance -were really close I when they were young kids and drifted in HS due to the favoritism becoming most apparent -did reconnect after HS

-they were super close when they were little

-during their teenage years, a wedge was driven between them because being constantly compared to jeff his whole life broke todd

-even when todd was at his most jealous, he always loved jeff so much but would hide it

-jeff was always blatant with his adoration for todd. he'd talk off the ear of whoever he was with whenever he had the chance to talk about him

-while they were apart, jeff used to send todd letters every weekend and todd would barely respond, always considering throwing them out (he never did, he kept every single one spanning years) but jeff knew they meant a lot to him

-i imagine them having a very denny-gordie from stand by me type relationship and jeff would always prompt their parents into talking about todd (not like they ever listened)

-once todd was out of school and not living with their parents anymore, they talked everything out and mended their relationship, becoming super close again

-when todd's first poetry book got published, he sent jeff and advanced copy and jeff always keeps it on the coffee table so whenever he has guests over he can be like 'oh, that book over there? yeah, my brother wrote that. he's a poet, can you believe that? a real life poet!'

-they're each other's best men at their weddings

-jeff is incredibly supportive of todd's relationship with neil. he didn't understand it at first but once he saw how much neil makes him happy, he got it

-jeff knew neil at welton so when todd told him they were a couple he was shocked. he didn't know neil well but he saw him in the halls

-jeffs wife betty is a total badass. she's an incredibly progressive beatnik. their parents almost had an aneurysm when they met her. todd loves her though, they bond over poetry and often go to open mics together. all in all, jeff doesn't care what their parents think

-jeff is a lawyer and betty is a painter, she created paintings for todd (and neil's) apartment as a (technically non legal) wedding present

-whenever jeff is able to visit todd in new york, todd takes him to go see whatever show neil's in at the time. if bettys free, she also comes. she adores theatre so she loves to chat to neil about it. jeff doesn't care much for theatre but seeing his wife, brother and brother in law be so excited about it makes him happy

-ever since they were little, jeff supported todd in whatever he wanted to do and was so happy when he finally did what he loved, writing

realistically how famous do you think bruce and the kids are/should be in universe. I read a tweet once about no one knowing about the (adult) children of big name rich like elon musk and Jeff bozos which is definitely true at least for me but at the same time part of bruce's thing is being a playboy socialite which brings forth more of the celebrity kardashian comparisons in which case they'd be more recognizable like I guess personally I can't see them not being super well known in gotham because of the combination of all the public death/murders with one of the oldest most high profile families but idk how that would work anywhere outside of gotham like I imagine they have a lot of conspiracies at the least but maybe not I know your face like maybe vague recognition idk I'm a big fan of them looking similar to bruce and bruce looking like clark so maybe people just see them and think they have one of those faces unless they drop their name which I think would be easier to recognize

i think generally speaking bruce and dick would be the most well known, like in terms of presence and having an idea of personality. bruce obv bc he’s the son of one of gotham’s most active and beloved couples and what happened in crime alley was a really big deal, not to mention the way he disappeared for a while and then mysteriously came back, before assuming the same humanitarian efforts his parents did. he’d be like a figure shrouded in some mystery, but not in an unpleasant way. like, oh, yes, that’s bruce wayne, he’s quite busy all of the time, but whenever i see him on tv, he’s so charming. lovely boy. i feel like he would be very endeared in spirit to the oldies of gotham and then i’ve mentioned this before but the mystery, odd charm, and simultaneous reserve kinda give him this lost boy vibe (and his backstory doesn’t help) so i’m sure the women of gotham would be a little secretly obsessed with him and those who manage to meet him eager to turn him into their pet project. other people? they’re either his close friends, or they don’t care. it’s bruce wayne. whatever. and then with dick i think it would sort of be the same thing bc he’s in a sense a replica of bruce situationally but he’s also obv a bit different in personality, very witty, confident, and i imagine that would garner him a lot of admiration in the years that he attended things with bruce. kind of like gotham’s new first son until he slowly disappears and then you randomly learn through a google search that the boy moved to new york, though no one knows why. poor bruce. i suppose things that’s how things change. all the kids leave the coop these days. and so on and so forth. with jason i imagine there would be a brief notoriety around the time he died but since he was only with bruce for roughly three years i don’t think his impact would be as lasting. like gotham would be more familiar with the wayne boy who died than with jason todd. idk if i have thoughts on tim yet bc i haven’t gotten to the part where he temporarily takes over the company or whatever that arc was, and then with cass i still need to read her solo consistently instead of pieces here and there, but generally i feel like the lasting impression is always going to be that of bruce and dick bc they were a unit for so long and most kids thereafter will just kind of. . . be there. existing. not necessarily immediately important or endeared to the gotham stratosphere. altho i’m sure damian would rack up a lot of mystery and gossip bc Who did bruce wayne manage to fornicate with when he’s been leaving ladies hanging nearly all of his life? that would be a fun rumor mill to watch propagate until talia inevitably steps onto the scene at gotham prep or whatever it’s called and makes things clear, and Then i think you could really see a revival in the wayne family interest bc how in the heck did bruce wayne have a dalliance with the woman who took down lex corp? the regular gotham girls would go crazy knowing they couldn’t match up and desperately wondering why. and omg okay i have not read about duke in depth yet but from what little i’ve seen i think he could bring that dick grayson vibe back. the charm, the ease, the openness. he seems to be a very easily likable person who wouldn’t mind attending some social events, getting to know new people, making a good impression. he’d meld seamlessly with the bruce wayne persona and i think he could go so far as to be the wayne boy who becomes a hit with the teens bc he’s relatable tm and he actually remembers to post to instagram

“Y/n, you gotta come over,” Carly sighs as you sit in her apartment, eyes widening at her suggestion once again. “they’ll love you, it’s not as bad as you’re making out to be.” 

Glancing up from your phone, you focus on your best friend who rests her hands on her hips. “They’re chill people, Y/n.” Nolan inputs and Carly smugs proudly as he walks past with Frankie trailing behind him toward the kitchen. 

“Ugh, fine.” You give in, rising to your feet as you grab your bag before following Carly out of her front door. “But if they hate me, I’m blaming you.” 

Carly rolls her eyes as she unlocks her car. “As if that’d happen, Y/n.”

“Okay, so maybe Jeff didn’t exactly warm to me.” You explain to Nolan as you walk through the door of Carly’s place.

Nolan looks over to Carly who simply gives him a ‘don’t ask’ look as she sits down beside you. “It wasn’t that bad.” Carly tries to ease the situation but based on your raised eyebrow and frown, it’s enough to know it definitely was that bad. 

“What happened?” Nolan asks, standing in the kitchen as he carries on preparing dinner. 

You groan loudly as you grab a cushion, burying it into your chest. “They were all super chill, but Jeff barely spoke two words to me.” You begin to explain, and Nolan nods along, not thinking too much of it. “But whenever he did, it was some kinda snide remark about my degree and career path.” 

“Oh,” Nolan seethes as Carly lowers her head, never having seen Jeff act like that to someone close before. “maybe he was just having a bad day?” Nolan tries to ease the situation, but you simply throw your head back and close your eyes. 

“It wasn’t like you were weird with him,” Carly comments, thinking over the interaction that you briefly had. 

“Exactly. I mean, I was just myself.” You explain and Nolan chuckles. 

“That’ll do enough to put him off.” He teases, receiving the cushion you were cuddling thrown in his general vicinity.

“What’s the plan?” Jeff asks as he walks into David’s as Todd follows behind him. 

After greeting Todd, Natalie checks her phone quickly before responding. “You know that junkyard where you pay to destroy stuff? Well, we booked a slot for everyone to have a go.” Natalie explains.

“Sounds like it’ll be a good release.” Todd rubs his hands together in excitement. “So everyone’s coming then?” He quickly looks over to Jeff who quirks an eyebrow as Natalie nods. 

“Yeah, oh, and Carly’s bringing her friend who’s visiting,” Natalie adds and Todd can’t wipe the smile from his face after seeing Jeff’s expression drop. 

“But she’s too sweet to do this kinda shit.” Jeff speaks up. “Come on, did you see the way she reacted when I mentioned my weed stash that I used to sell? She practically disappeared into the couch.” Jeff tuts as David walks into the living room. 

“You talking about Y/n?” David questions, not even looking up from his phone. “She coming, Nat?” 

“Yep, Carly texted me earlier, she’ll pick Y/n up along with Erin and meet us there.” Natalie comments and David smiles brightly.

“I bet she’d kick ass if she had to,” David mutters, catching Jeff off guard. “what? You think she’s all soft and sweet completely?” 

Jeff scoffs as he crosses his arms. “I’m not saying that,” He starts, looking around as everyone focuses on him, waiting for him to continue. “I just have a vibe from her.”

“What are you a witch now?” Natalie jokes and Todd chuckles under his breath before Jeff shoots him a look. “She’s a chill person, Jeff. No one is saying you have to fall in love with her.” 

“I know that.” Jeff mumbles before grabbing his bag. “So, we going or what?”

“Just take it easy, yeah?” Erin chuckles as you climb out of the car and you shrug a shoulder. 

“Of course, like I’m going to lose my shit.” You joke and Carly glances over her shoulder, giving you a quick warning look. “It’s perfectly legal here, right?” 

“Got the authentication certificates to prove it.” David laughs and Jeff squints as you stand in the sunlight, resting your hands on your hips. “You got some kinda problem with the law, Y/n?” 

Jeff raises an eyebrow as you simply smile, not quite giving an answer as you simply pick up a hammer. “Where’d we start?” 

After a half-hour, Jeff can already see a different side to you. Within the first few minutes of having the safety procedure you were free to destroy whatever you wish and Jeff watched as you threw a hammer into a windshield of a broken car. 

“She got some kinda anger issues?” Jeff nervously laughs as he pauses, looking over as you kick in the door to another old car with a bright smile on your face. “Or just fucking insane?” 

David chuckles as Carly walks over. “You didn’t tell him, did you?” Carly remarks, and Jeff looks over to David who simply shakes his head. 

“Tell me what?” Jeff asks as he listens to the sound of glass smashing and you cheering. 

“Y/n’s recently been cleared from probation,” Carly explains, and Jeff’s eyes widen. “I mean, it wasn’t like she killed someone. It was a drug deal gone wrong.” 

“Sound familiar?” David raises an eyebrow to Jeff who focuses on you across the junkyard as you joke around with Zane as he takes photos of you. 

“Huh.” Jeff mutters, now putting the pieces together as to why you tensed up about him mentioning his weed, about your career choices and prospering onwards. “So, she’s not such a good girl after all?” 

Glancing over your shoulder, you smile to Carly as Jeff can’t stop eyeing you up with a smirk on his lips. “Is Jeff constipated?” You ask Zane who follows your line of vision and laughs lightly. 

“Oh Y/n,” Zane sighs as he pats your arm. “You’ll learn soon enough.”

“Or I’ll just see for myself.” You joke back before putting the hammer down and wander toward the trio with a bright smile. “That was definitely the release I needed.” You happily breathe out, watching as Jeff clenches his fists. 

“One hell of a release, Y/n.” Jeff comments and Carly rolls her eyes at his change in attitude. “Didn’t know you had that in you.” 

You glance over to Carly before stepping closer to Jeff, eyeing him up and down for a moment before tutting. “There’s a lot you don’t know about me Jeff.” You remark before stepping away and picking up a sledgehammer, running back toward Erin who happily greets you before you smash another car. 

“I’ll have fun finding out.” Jeff mutters, following behind you as Carly sighs. 

“He’s doomed.” She remarks and David nods along, turning back to carry on with the remainder of their time in the junkyard.

Nobody Puts Baby in the Corner [Part 1 of 2]

Summary: Imagine being the “baby” of the group.

Requested by Anonymous who said: hi! i’ve had this idea in my mind of being younger than everyone else in the VS (maybe like 19/20?) and literally everyone calls you Baby like it started as a joke but it’s gotten to the point they’re introducing you to others as “Baby” and they’re all super protective of you and yeah just a cute thought i’ve been having hehe

While you've heard of the Vlog Squad and watched David Dobrik's videos to pass time, you didn't think nothing much of the group who were living their best lives and posting for everyone to see. They seemed like they'd be fun to hang out with, and though you lived quite close to where David apparently lived, you never once rushed to the random pop-ups or ran into any of them when they were out and about.

But that all changed one day when you were playing with your puppy in the park, and you were surprised when David, Natalie, and Jason walked up to you. Natalie had fallen in love at first sight of your Beagle puppy and David chanced walking up to you in hopes of getting his friend some play time with the dog. You were surprised to see them and then quickly explained your surprise, and they were pleased to learn you watched their videos. You had then happily let Natalie play with Milo, the four of you sitting on the ground as you teased Milo with doggie treats. It was then David, Natalie, and Jason learned some about you, the three of them surprised to learn you were not yet twenty-one when David had jokingly invited you out for drinks. Jason grumbled about hanging out with toddlers, and David had giggled as he recorded Natalie and the puppy.

You figured running into them was a once in a lifetime type of deal, so you were surprised to run into David and Natalie again about a week later. While waiting for some food for yourself and your parents, the two of them had walked in to order an outrageous amount of food. They had spotted you first and you were shocked they remembered your name. Then as the three of you had chatted while waiting for your food, David invited you back to his place to eat when he realized you didn't live that far. You had politely declined because you had to get the food back home, but David urged you to join them. He suggested that you could eat with them and their friends, and Natalie suggested she go with you to your house so you could drop off the food, pick up Milo, and then she'd direct you to David's. They were eager to have you join them, and to pick up Milo, that you couldn't say no.

It was a bit surreal to meet Zane, Heath, Mariah, and Todd, but the group welcomed you without even batting an eye. Jason, upon spotting you when he arrived, jokingly referred to you as Baby. Everyone seemed confused, but when they found out why the baby jokes were soon to start. And from that day forward, you were introduced as Baby to everyone else you had yet to meet and the name just stuck.

You're sitting on the floor of David's living room, a bowl of sliced cucumber in hand and a smaller bowl of Ranch dressing balancing on your knee. David's editing not far from you and Natalie is playing with Milo in the backyard.

The front door opens, someone shouts to see if anyone's home, and you shout back to confirm that there is.

Erin, Carly, and Jeff walk around the corner, the three of them laughing at what they were previously talking about. "Hey, Baby." They all greet.

"Hey, guys." You see Carly glancing around the floor and you grin. "Milo's out back with Nat." She chuckles before walking to the door, Erin walks into the kitchen, and Jeff plops down on the sofa right behind you. "Snack?" You ask, holding the bowl out for him over your shoulder.

"What'd you put on it?"

"Just lemon juice and a sprinkle of salt. There's also Ranch."

Jeff huffs a laugh at your bowl of Ranch, but does accept a couple slices of cucumber. Erin soon joins Jeff on the sofa, and the girls come in from outside with an excited Milo in tow. As Jeff and Erin then attempt to grab your dog's attention, your phone rings with the telltale sound of a Facetime call.

Erin takes the two bowls when you answer the call, you quickly thanking her before one of your other friend's excited face fills the screen and her voice spills out of the speaker. "Happy birthday, bitch!" You cringe and smile in thanks, avoiding the gazes of those around you as they suddenly go still. "We're getting fucked up tonight! You're finally legal!" She squeals.

You sigh. "I don't know, Em. I don't drink much and I'm not too fond of having strangers grind on me."

"Come on, girl!" She groans. "We're in the prime of our lives! You need to let loose at least once in your life."

"Yeah, Baby," Jeff lays out behind you, his face just visible behind your shoulder. "You're in the prime of your life. Go out and have fun."

Your friend's eyes widen on screen and you faintly grin. But before she can question you, David's piping up. "It's your birthday? Why didn't you tell us?"

"Because I don't care for celebrations," you shrug.

"But it's your twenty first!" Natalie says. "You're supposed to let go once you turn legal."

"Oh my god. Our Baby is no longer a baby," Erin realizes. Carly laughs, she busy playing with Milo again. These people really loved dogs.

When you meet your friend's gaze on the phone, you sigh yet again. "Em, this is Jeff. Don't even think about it. I forbid it."

"But-"

"Nope. Now if you want me to go out tonight, you'll forget all about the hot person behind me and text me where I'm supposed to meet you guys tonight. Okay? Love you. Bye."

As soon as you drop your phone beside you, your friends are on you.

"It's your birthday!? Oh my god," Natalie says. "I can't believe you hid it from us."

You laugh sheepishly. "I didn't exactly hide it. I just- I didn't tell you. I didn't want you guys to feel obligated to get me anything or do something."

"But you're twenty-one," Carly says. "That's huge!"

"Not really. It's rare that I'll have a drink. I'm not too eager to get shit-faced and wake up regretting my life's choices."

"Well tonight you are," Natalie says. "Come on. We'll raid my closet for an outfit and get you ready."

"But-"

"No buts," David muses. "You have this night with your friends and then next week you'll celebrate with us."

"But Milo," you say, picking up your Beagle and holding his face to your cheek. "I can't leave him all alone."

"On it." Jeff takes Milo from you and you pout at him. "What? The sitter's got Nerf for the night. I'm not doing anything."

Chuckling lightly, you let Natalie and Erin pull you up to your feet. Carly follows behind you and you readily start picking through a drawer of your stuff in Natalie's room for underwear you kept there for emergencies. She hands you a towel and a robe, and instructs you to not wash your hair. You oblige her, taking extra care to pamper yourself in the shower before making your way back to her room.

Mariah has now joined them, she surprising you with a cupcake and a singular candle. They quietly sing happy birthday to you as to not attract all the boys, and snap several pictures to post later. Carly then does your hair and Natalie your makeup. Once they're done, you get to choose between four outfits they had put together and laid out on the bed.

One outfit in particular catches your attention- anything that sparkled was a weakness of yours- and you spend a little too long staring at the metallic sequined crop top with a plunging v-neck.

"Why don't you try it on?" Carly asks.

You huff. "And risk flashing my tits? No thanks."

"That's what the tape is for." Mariah laughs.

Natalie and Mariah then help you into the crop top, taping it down so you don't flash anyone when you no doubt let go at the club later that night. The top pairs with high waisted, faux leather shorts that fit almost like a second skin and a pair of chunky heeled boots that stop just above your knee. You have to endure a mini-photoshoot for your friends before they let you out of the room where they then direct you to the kitchen without even addressing the boys.

"A round of shots for the birthday girl," Natalie says, immediately seeking out a bottle of liquor and shot glasses. Carly, Erin, and Mariah cheer. Shots are poured and then passed out, you grabbing it and raising it in front of you so Natalie could finish her toast. "May you let loose, have fun, and call us from a jail cell so one of us can go bail you out."

"Don't jinx me!" The girls all laugh and then you down your shot, grimacing.

There's a sudden commotion as others arrive and you make small talk with Erin and Carly as more people enter the kitchen.

"Oh hey, when did we get a new hot gi- oh my god, it's Baby!" You whirl around at the sound of your name, slowly grinning at Todd's gobsmacked expression. You wink.

"Damn, babygirl," Zane whistles, "who is you trying to impress?"

"Alright, alright!" David shouts, camera recording. "Everyone gather 'round." Zane, Todd, Heath, and Jeff enter the kitchen, everyone gathering the kitchen island. "So today is Baby's twenty-first birthday-"

"WHAT?!"

"Shut up, Zane, and let me finish." Everyone laughs. "As I said before I was rudely interrupted, today is Baby's twenty-first birthday. She didn't tell us because she didn't want presents or a party-"

"BOOOO!"

"-so tonight she's going out with a few friends-"

"Not dressed like that, she's not!" Heath then interrupts.

You and the girls all cackle, even more so when the other boys are seen vaguely nodding along.

"But next week she's all ours. So, Baby," David says, coming in closer so the camera is practically in your face, "any last words before you're too drunk to make good choices?"

"Yeah. If my tits pop out of this shirt, I'm throat punching Natalie for encouraging me to wear it."

"Hey!"

More laughter rings out and you can't help but laugh as Zane, Todd, and David struggle to not look at your chest.

"Jesus, Baby," Heath mumbles. "Will you please change?"

"Nope."

"If you don't change, we're following you to the club," Jeff says.

You grin. "Well then I guess you're following me to the club."

Thirty minutes later, you're sitting on Todd's lap on one of the middle seats in David's Tesla. He and Jason are in the front, you, Todd, Jeff, and Zane in the middle, and Heath and Ilya in the back.

"You know, I didn't think you were actually serious that you'd accompany me to the club," you say. "Or pick up Jason and Ilya."

Ilya laughs from the back seat. "Todd sent me a pic of your.. chest. I was torn between wanting to put a shirt on you and ogling the picture some more."

"Todd!" David laughs. "You didn't?!"

"I'm sorry!" He laughs.

"She's like our baby sister, man," Jeff chuckles. "What is wrong with you?"

Todd laughs, his arms lazily wrapped around your waist. "I was so confused! I mean, I know it's Baby, but.."

"We ain't never really seen Baby's boobs on display like this. It's confusing. And upsetting," Zane says.

"Now you boys know how it feels for us girls when you walk around in nothing but your boxer briefs. I mean, you guys are like family. Sort of. But you're all still so pretty. It's confusing."

The rest of the drive doesn't take very long and soon enough David's pulling up to the club your girl friends are all waiting outside of. And before you can open the door, Todd's holding on tighter as Jason turns around in his seat. David records what comes next.
