Thinking once more about The FBI spying on the party. Specifically about one agent who insists that each party member should have a code name, but picks the least helpful code names of all time.

Like no one else uses them and the guy just uses the party’s initials so you get conversations like:

Agent Todd: Awe man, JB found another one of our bugs

Agent Johnston: Jonathan Byers found a bug?

Agent Todd: What? No. Joyce Byers

Agent Todd: It looks we got a lot of Hs and Bs congregating together. Should we be concerned?

Agent Moore: That. Is. Not. Informative.

Agent Michaels: Is Bauman one of the Bs?

Agent Todd: No.

Agent Michaels: Don’t waste my time.

Agent Todd, in the field: Damn it, I lost the trail on JH

Agent Johnston, Moore & Michaels: YOU LOST THE GIRL!!???

Agent Todd: What? No. Abshire is tailing the kids. I’m talk about Jim Hop - oh.

Agent Todd, clearly running: Didn’t lose him! He turned around! He’s chasing - *sound of someone getting the shit kicked out of them*

Agent Johnston, Moore & Michaels: *hesitates to call in backup*

i just think there’s something about the way that Billy doesn’t single out anyone else. not Nancy, not Jonathan, not even another popular person in school, but Steve — only Steve.

when Billy arrives at the school for the first time? it doesn’t focus on Nancy’s reaction, but Steve. Steve, who wonders about it first, then it focuses on Billy until it pans to the girls being like “wowwww.”

and then, Billy stalking over to Steve, very specifically. the way that Nancy slips away, so Steve can *take off his sunglasses* to stare at this dude that’s staring WAYYYY too intensely at him.

and it’s supposed to be a lot of posturing. it’s meant to be Billy trying to usurp the most popular guy in town. that’s what it was probably meant as, however… i’m just saying. it’s a little,,, how this dude with his oiled-up chest stalks from across the room to single out Steve. and his focus has been EXCLUSIVELY Steve. like, Billy could not care less about having anyone else’s attention, EXCEPT Steve.

and then, we’ve got the basketball scene and such. and Billy’s only interested in watching Steve’s reactions. like “oh, you pissed?? you mad????” and it’s never about anyone else, ONLY STEVE.

in conclusion, Billy Hargrove is the toxic love interest that expresses wayyy too much interest in Steve. and this was part of the training wheels to Steve becoming the most useless bisexual-coded man. gotta start slow with the “they’re rivals, but also…?”

they’re the definition of “you should be addicted to shutting the fuck up” — “you wanna fuck me so bad, it makes you look stupid.”

The loss of Originality because of Remakes and the state of animation

I won’t stop talking about the not usability of remakes, their gain for easy money and the fucking manipulative nostalgia trap, not until every cinema were remakes are shown are empty. Because my god this needs to stop now that also DreamWorks joins disney and other studios in this lazy trend. As @ryupioupiou mentioned to me, the animation industry is in crisis as they said on the Annecy film festival. They play it safe and pretend nothing is on stake, but how long can they keep their Fassade up? I can’t stand the fact that the studios are pushing the agenda and the belief that animated movies are just for kids forward with these remakes no one needs. Honestly the studios, DreamWorks sadly now included, should be ashamed of themselves at disrespecting the art of animation and all the many hard working animators behind it by calling them just simple kids movies before butchering them into ugly live action remakes. And the recent remake of httyd just pulled the last straw for me, not only because it’s my favorite trilogy and franchise, but also of how revolutionary it was for the animation industry and then they make this ugly ass remake out of it just for moneys sake. This is not for what httyd, the lion king, kung fu panda, spider verse and so on stand for. They stand for that animation is for everyone and that our picture of seeing animated movies just for kids has not aged well. It’s outdated. We can stop this view if we don’t let ourselves capture by the studios nostalgia traps and actually supporting original work and art. You know the feeling when you first saw httyd, this cant be recreated with a copy and paste of the same movie but in remake style, this feeling can truly be reinforced if you watch an original piece of art that is called animation. Wild Robot gave me this feeling for example.

(I‘m sorry Mason and Nico, I‘m sure you are great actors and can do better under better direction but I have to this for animations sake).

Electric locos are ironically great as coal haulers, they’ve been used on heavy mineral trains since the early 1900s due to their power and being great at climbing hills (and capable of regenerating power going downhill).

For an early British example, the NER EF1

For an extreme example, the Virginian Railway was a notoriously wealthy, hilly coal-hauling route that bought some absurdly large electric locomotives for dragging 9000 ton coal trains through the Appalachians

There were also several coal power plants in the western US that used GE E60 locomotives to haul long, frequent coal trains until they shut down

And as a bonus, a underground mine trains (including coal mines) are usually electric, usually battery powered, due to the flammable conditions and smoke being a problem in enclosed spaces
