for this new year, might I recommend boycotting? you'll be pressuring shitty companies to stop funding the Israeli occupation, you'll be snatching money from the greedy grubby hands of shitty CEOs and you'll be helping local businesses.

(boycotting means that you no longer spend your money at or recommend that place. if you already have something from them, you shouldn't throw it. keep it, use it as long as it is useful and then when it is time to replace it, you can look for other companies that make the same or similar products.)

your boycott may not be perfect but it is a really good start for people who are unable to donate to funds to the people in need.

Work:

Took notes for my hyper-pop music poster presentation that I have to do, hopefully, next week

Rehearsed for the mental health performance which will be next Monday

Continued my draft soundtrack case study for my Visual Media Composition module -- getting so close to the finish line despite several grammatical errors. It is the last module I need to study after all

Play/Self-Care:

Took a walk in the Arboretum

Got more books for my draft soundtrack case study from Boots and Clifton libraries

Took two cups of coffee to help me stay awake

I’ve got the whole weekend to myself, but I got to stay productive with my time which includes the usual all-work and all-play tactic I have to handle. I don't have time to study in one sitting because a break is all I need to compose myself.

To many students who are doing the same all-work, all-play strategy over the weekend as I do, here's my advice: while you're studying, don't forget to have some fun also. Remember, keep doing your best and set up your own morals you need to learn whilst planning your areas of improvement.

Ive said this before but swear the biggest skill to learn as an adult is how to resist high-pressure sales tactics. You do NOT have to answer questions with anything other than "Sorry I'm not interested." No matter how nice they are or no matter how many follow up questions they ask or even how agitated they get when you stand your ground. Just keep saying I'm not interested. Don't answer their questions. Don't give them an opening to try to push back on your reasons. Be a fucking brick wall of I'm not interested.
