hei xiazi and zhang rishan headcanons I will never be talked out of:

they met back in the day when rishan was fo ye's fu guan, definitely committed a whole bunch of arson and murder they narrowly escaped being arrested for, and a whole bunch of other stuff fo ye had to pay bail for

fo ye spent the rest of his life carefully monitoring hei xiazi's whereabouts to make sure he and rishan were never in the same city unsupervised. sometimes he hired hei xiazi for BS he made up on the spot because it was cheaper than paying for the property damage

fo ye was also a little jealous they didn't invite him to the Shenanigans, but he's too Official and Responsible to do those sorts of things anymore and he does pout about that on er ye's couch.

when Rishan takes on fo ye's mantle, he keeps xiazi on speed dial to mess with people who annoy him. Just, straight up says 'here's a bunch of money, do whatever you want so long as I don't have to hear from them for the next month'

Rishan unknowingly mirrors fo ye's frustration with having to keep up appearances and not being allowed to be the agent of chaos he was born to be. xiazi is aware of this and sometimes 'kidnaps' him on vacations where they go burn down a wang family warehouse or training facility or the summer home of some corrupt government official.

they've never been caught, but poorly drawn police sketches have ended up on wanted lists rishan has had to make arrangements to have deleted

xiazi is also one of the few people who understands the Immortality Depression, who would also - probably - give fair warning before trying to shank rishan (and vice versa). rishan and xiazi have definitely fucked about it, but even the suggestion they ever dated would be met with some sort of reaction on a scale of confusion to horror (also the ghost of fo ye starts screaming from the afterlife)

rishan has definitely made green pepper fried rice for xiazi and it's their go-to currency, other than favors and flammable materials.

The Ice Deity and the Fire Deities

While very much male, the ice deity has been dubbed "Princess" by Ohime and Ohiwe since they love to give lil nicknames to their fellow deities. The two overheard mortals talking and using the phrase "ice queen" for the first time and were like "wait can you elaborate" and when hearing what it meant, they realized their ice deity buddy bro is nowhere NEAR that cold. So he can be the ice princess rather than queen. (he just accepts his fate from them and no other deity uses that nickname. it's just the fire duo)

They've known for a very long time that Merlin would outlive Gwaine, as soon as they realized he wasn't aging. Merlin put an aging spell on himself and for awhile they could pretend they were growing old together. In his last moments, all Gwaine wants is to remember Merlin as he truly was.

Whoever said immortality was a gift had clearly never experienced it.

i never finished this series but i’ve been rewatching from the beginning and am hoping to finish it this time bc it’s so much fun and so chaotic. it’s probably not as well known since it’s on clare’s streaming channel, so i’m not sure how this post will do lmaoo, but i knew i had to at least make some simple fanart as it’s definitely one of my favs of clare’s series (i just love occult sims sm ok loll). i love how shamelessly dark it is and how many twists and turns the story took (most not even planned by clare lmao). the characters are so fun to interpret in my style !! pls click on image to see details better

BUT the show actually does have the playwright for the musical as one of the major writers for like three episodes and that did nothing for it. so...

Continuing the JJK posting: Gojo is such a mystifying character.

Action show where swinging out the gate you introduce a character who is so incredibly powerful you then have to, before every fight, establish why Gojo can't just show up and fix the problem in seconds. His existence weakens the stakes of everything. The rest of the show you are backflipping ridding yourself of him. He jobs two major bad guys off the gate and every subsequent extensive fight with them feels like cleaning up his leftovers. Put him in a box, he's ruining the game balance. So absolutely broken. As a writer it makes your job so difficult, but it's also the entire point of him. "Hey I want to write the single most badass character of all time who can do the most insane shit but I will also engage with that", rock on king.

I think he's most interesting when understood as somebody who is fundamentally alien and removed from ordinary human thought processes. In his world there is absolutely nothing he cannot do, and the thought 'maybe I can't do something' just doesn't occur to him. He is capable of doing whatever he wants and of killing anybody who tries to stop him from doing what he wants. If he is not doing something, it is because he does not want to do it. If he wants to do something (kill all of his superiors) and he's not doing it, it's because he doesn't think it's the most effective route towards what he has decided to do. I think this informs the majority of his actions (and, importantly, what he doesn't do)(murder). I think he's reasoned out that you should have a general reason to do things, and it feels like sheer luck that he places value and meaning in human life, and as such you shouldn't kill them without a strong reason. Watching the flashback arc, if I hadn't seen a) JJK and b) Naruto and you asked me which shitty teen became a law abiding school teacher and which became a mass murderer I would have guessed the wrong ones.

Anyway, the way I like to think of him, he's a raging narcissist with a god complex to match. Horrifically, he's actually a good teacher, but he is also a teacher as an ego/'raising my child army' thing. He would be the kind of mother who is a good mother but lowkey had kids also as an ego/unconditional love/lots of attention/'surely my child will worship me' thing. Gets randomly into new hobbies, obsesses over them, gorges himself on the novelty factor, before dropping them in a week once he gets too good at them. Rinse and repeat. The only hobby that does not eventually grow boring is annoying people, so it's his only hobby. Geto told him age 15 that he'll never have any friends if he keeps on casually reminding people that they live on his sufferance, so he developed another back-up hobby more conducive for friendship of helping people forget that they live on his sufferance. This has convinced him that he's a god of subterfuge, intrigue, and trickery. Does eat women out, but is convinced that this makes him God's gift to women, and is actually pretty terrible in bed because his partner's desires never even occur to him. Is convinced he's as good at sex as he is everything else. Sex is actually the one thing he's bad at, but he's not ready to hear that.

In S1 he overall left me with the general impression that his entire idea of how high school worked was sourced from anime, and as such decided that being a teacher involved nothing but field trips, sports games, beach episodes, sports festivals, etc. Did not know how the classroom component worked so he skips it. Jossed, but also left me convinced that it would be very funny if he was an immortal 150-whatever years old and had founded the high school himself out of, you guessed it, an ego thing, and never once properly learned how high schools worked and just arbitrarily made his own aging students the new principals so he could continue engaging in training the kids who are too Misfit (TM) to get apprenticeships and living his fun slice of life anime life and raising a child army of kids who will worship him any day now. Annnyyyy day now. Any day now.

A mighty need for Mysterion yep..

Still awaiting his proper return....I know he tech came back in TFBW but I feel....he needs a better return...still awaiting and hoping for an episode/plot around his powers but there could be other plots and episodes too maybe...I would love one where Kenny comes up with his superhero persona in the first place...like his inspirations for Mysterion for his costume...how he put the costumes together and his very first night out in his superhero mode.(ha since his response to Cartman's "I was doing this first" was "Nuh huh." I HC Mystery boi was out and about before bumping into him on that roof. XD)

Or just randomly stick Mysterion somewhere back into the lore...some plot/some episode somewhere. I don't know how...just ha Kenny's already been living in a part of my mind before....and Mysterion just made sure he wasn't going anywhere any time soon. This addicting immortal boi I love and just always want to see more of. XD

“requiem for methuselah” crazy ass episode for many reasons. Kirk is being fully insane, like I don’t actually think, even controlling for how quickly and easily and readily he seems to fall in love with anybody at the slightest encouragement, that he’d go that bonkers for that android woman he just met while everyone on the ship was this close to dying, but that’s neither here nor there, because in the background you’ve got an equally but much more subtly insane episode for Spock, who extremely uncharacteristically admits to experiencing an emotion (or nearly experiencing, whatever) and that emotion is ENVY of all things. And then spends the rest of the episode warning Kirk away from this new love interest (something that doesn’t usually happen, even when Kirk has very inadvisable love interests) and is, in the end, the person who accurately identifies that Rayna’s competing love for Kirk and Flint is ultimately what overwhelms and destroys her with the most killer line in maybe history???

And then to wrap it up we get an equally uncharacteristic sort of denouement scene (TOS loooves to cut an episode off right after the actual climax, leaving little time for falling action or character reflection, or to stick a sitcom-y button on the end where the gang all smiles and laughs at their misadventures and everything resets to zero, which is not a criticism, it’s just the style of that era of tv, honestly) where Kirk is literally miserable over Rayna’s death (again, kind of unusual for a lot of his love interests, he tends to be able to move on pretty quickly) and Spock goes to see him and he falls asleep right in front of Spock (also odd) and then when Bones comes in to give the final word on Flint, Spock waves him off from waking the Captain (tender) and Bones gives him that awful speech about how it’s sadder that Spock can’t even imagine the love Kirk felt for this random android woman than it is that Kirk lost her in the first place (debatable but also rude) and how his great tragedy is that he can’t love at all like they can and how all he wishes is that Kirk could forget about all of this and move on. AND THEN, to have Bones leave and Spock go over to Kirk and very gently, tenderly, reluctantly touch him and put his hand to his forehead and tell him to forget and HAVE THAT BE THE END OF THE EPISODE??? What am I supposed to do with that??
