it's still similar to what happens when anyone's hair gets wet, i think! the water would weigh it down and negate the floating until it dries up again

So did Proto tell Tempo about the trans thing? Because every time I think about their argument in the Refrain AU I imagine a really awkward exchange kinda like:

Proto: (sarcastic) Oh, yeah, I’m sure Dr. Light would be happy to have his “daughter” home

Tempo: If you are referring to Refrain, I must ask you to be more respectful—

Proto: What? Oh— no, Tempo, I’m trans.

Tempo: Oh. …Would you prefer if referred to you with she/her pronouns, then?

Proto: (half-laughing) Tempo, I’m FTM—

asdfhjkgsdfgk this is really cute anon I think Proto Man would tell Tempo, maybe when they're closer friends. I can imagine him being kinda cagey and mysterious, just, showing up to hang out at random times and she just rolls with it. but if it was during The Argument, when he was Break Man, he'd have been so frustrated and angry it might have been difficult to parse what he was so upset about -- aside from oblique anger at "why she gets to be herself and I didn't" Either way, when he does just outright explain things, it'd probably be that level of awkward, heheh

Pharo - i think he has a very strong character and his actions reflect that. he wants to be seen by others as someone strong, as a leader. he almost wants them to fear him, just a little. even though it might not be true, his past has taught him that fear equals respect, and there isn't a line Pharo wouldn't cross to be truly revered and respected.

Odessa - she doesn't want to be perceived much by anyone really. she has gone through a lot of things from childhood to adulthood that left her with a sour taste in her mouth when it comes to people and what they think of her. she thinks that if she's indifferent to everyone they will also be indifferent to her, though she does hope that the people she cares about will see beyond that without her needing to express her feelings out loud.

Vesper - it's a bit complicated when it comes to Vesper. it doesn't want to be perceived because of the traumatising circumstances of its transformation that it still feels the echoes of. simultaneously, Vesper wants others to think of it as someone they can approach, someone they can spend time with, someone that is worth looking out for. though, it hates being perceived during Circus performances.

Thinking again about the actual description of Trent’s fate, specifically the “no word publicly”. It suggests that instead of the out-in-the-open sensationalized courtroom trial we’ve built up, Trent might have just gotten disappeared. A meeting with the king, a short and sharp internal affairs investigation, no release of information to citizens, simply a new archmage one day and everyone knew better than to ask what happened to the old one. It’s definitely A Timeline for Astrid and Caleb, and a much different relationship for them with the rest of the Assembly.
