At last, here it is. A while ago, I had the pleasure of commissioning the wonderful @lokorum to portray my beloved idiots in all of their tragic glory.

So without further ado, after months, here's the first chapter of my durgetash-centred, possibly very long, post-canon Genfic (cuz even if he's not featured in the picture, he's very much the one behind it, and yes, I said genfic but they do fuck, there's just also other themes that are more important than whatever it is those guys got going on).

As per usual, please mind the tags. This is rated mature and may turn explicit depending on—let's be so fr—nothing but my mood. It IS a tragedy. I know how it ends. Trust me when I stress the tragedy part. I'm writing this story through tears at times. There's fluff, there is hurt comfort, there is true old man yaoi but there is just as much 'doves that aren't simply dead but rotten' and pain.

So to everyone who's not scared shitless yet (which is very valid), here's a summary:

The year is around 1530 DR. The once-revered and reformed Bhaalspawn returns to the city he had both saved and nearly doomed, emerging from his exile in the Underdark. Though he claims to seek only rest, the city's de facto ruler, Archduke Gortash, sees through the monster’s carefully crafted facade. Perhaps if the elf had never saved the Banite all those years ago—when he was little more than a blurred and distant memory—his own fate might have unfolded differently, perhaps even more mercifully. But regrets have long since lost their weight. The past is immutable, and all that remains—all that truly matters to him now—is the purpose that once again draws him into this treacherous den.

And on a personal note; I'm still squealing and shoving this artwork into the face of everyone I meet irl. I absolutely adore it. I'm not sure I'll be stopping with that soon. You will see reblogs.

Again. Tragedy. I mean it. There's fluffy moments, but I will absolutely exploit them to enhance the pain. I'm dead serious about Bhaal being able to learn from me. I caused his kid more agony than he could ever dream of delivering. And I haven't even shared the worst parts yet.

Edit: I also mean the psychological warfare tag. It's my guilty pleasure. And whatever over one year of obsession amounts to.

So, I know it's not a reliable source, but the Death Certificate for Jason Todd in the encyclopedia says he died at 15, and he does have a comic saying he can't wait to turn 16 so maybe that's accurate. But...

Anyone ever think about the juxtaposition of Jason dying four months before his 16th birthday and Bruce...doing what he did on Tim’s 16th?

Like. It's completely out of pocket. He jumped the damn shark. It's insane and abusive. Unacceptable, inexcusable, and damn near unforgivable (and could only be forgiven if Bruce would own up to how wrong it was and apologizing, but DC will never let that happen, so...unforgivable it is).

But he said his goal was to make Tim a better Robin. Turn his training up to the next level. And Jason is always regarded as the failed Robin, the one who was too reckless and that's what Bruce was ostensibly trying to train out of Tim. Wanting him to prove he could think before leaping.

i feel like almost everything in utena has sort of already been extensively discussed in the last two (almost three) decades of utena's existence (not that there aren't new interpretations to be made, there always are) besides black rose arc (mikage+mamiya+tokiko). which is why they're so much fun to think about. i think the need to read between the lines makes it unfortunately easy to misunderstand or look past obvious stuff if you don't pay attention, but to me it's always been really obvious that mikage's arc is a literal representation of the erasure of queerness in ohtori (society?) by akio/everything he represents. and that's so fucking tragic! nemuro was never able to find a name for his desires. he lived and died as a puppet in the shadows.

Mission: Impossible Final Reckoning

So because I'm a massive fucking nerd, you know I was first in line opening day of Final Reckoning after growing up my entire life loving the other seven Mission: Impossible movies. (other than the second of course. But no one likes the second. and if you do, I applaud you) and it left me with a lot of feelings so I'm gonna talk about it.

OBVIOUS SPOILER WARNINGS!!!!!

So um first of all... WHAT THE FUCK!?!?!?!?

I started sobbing immediately when the movie started and the montage of all the films started playing. Like that was so rude of them to do. I grew up watching the films since I first opened my eyes. And it was family tradition for each of my siblings and I to go to a showing with my father on opening day. (he would end up seeing each film like four or five times in one day) and because it has held such an important place in my heart so it hurts my heart and soul that this might be the final installment of the franchise.

Why did Luther have to die? Like I am personally offended by that. And how fucking dare you put Benji on death's door. I was legit gonna leave the theater if Benji died too just because I wouldn't be able handle the sadness.

The stunts were unmatched in this movie and I was feeling anxious just because claustrophobia and and being high up in the air and under water had me on the edge of my seat the entire time.

Then comes the message at the end of the movie... I was made fun of for crying as hard as I did and walking home was a chore. Was it because of the rain or my tears? I guess we'll never know.

At the end of the day, this is one of the best movies I have seen in a long time. Were there times when the movie fell flat and there was weird pacing? Yes. But it kinda worked better that way. The acting was unmatched and the plot was great.

"Silco didn't create Jinx, you did" lives in my mind rent free because throughout season 1, Vi has been convincing herself that Silco is the obstacle preventing her from getting Powder back. She's traumatized and guilt-ridden. When Vi is traumatized, she simplifies things as a response. She has to believe that getting her sister back is that simple. But when Silco is finally dead, Powder doesn't come back to her. In fact Silco's death is what solidifies Jinx's decision to be Jinx (the complete Jinx aka Jinx + Powder, not the broken version of her that she tried to erase Powder from).

And that's likely why Vi switches on her so quickly. By the time season 2 starts she's fully on board with Piltover wanting to kill Jinx and when she confronts her in ep.3 she says Powder is dead and they're not sisters anymore. Which is wild considering just a few days ago she was reassuring her that they'll always be sisters.

I think Vi meant all of it. At the time she really did want Caitlyn and the enforcers to kill Jinx. But that's because she's still just as traumatized and guilt-ridden as she was before. She can't deal with the fact that Jinx herself is the real reason she can never get Powder back. And as I said, Vi simplifies things as a trauma response. However if they had actually succeeded in killing Jinx, I think Vi would live in regret and self-hatred forever. What someone wants when they're traumatized and hurt is not what they want forever, and Vi does love her sister.

reading comments under anderson's seacats streams and seeing this is how most people were able to <read> it since most complain about being unable to focus and getting bored out of their mind makes my head explode

on one hand, streamer culture is what made most of us being unable to engage with material in the first place since it's far <easier> to give reigns to someone else. think mouthwashing or fear & hunger, where your own experience would matter more than above example yet initial struggle to engage with the work is way too off-putting to most (which is completely understandable! i'm not going to force anyone into a blind F&H run, knowing how badly can you mess up in 10 seconds flat, cough, learning about dogs the hard way)

...yet they still got to experience something they were unable to before, especially when horror is probably the most POPULAR genre for streaming/LPs since another presence in the form of streamer (who occasionally may even joke around) makes experience much less harrowing for average viewer. is it flawed? technically, yeah, except there are also silent commentary channels that work better but then you don't get to participate directly with the game's design (picking route choices) <- going back to visual novel format

anyway, all of this was inspired by the fact that anderson's deducing games once more floored me & i'm afraid most people won't even get to explore silly killer theories 😔
