You know what, I'm making a rule.

People who are obsessed with the Geoff Johns' retcon of Kon's origins to include Lex Luthor don't get to say that they want 90s Kon for style reasons or whatever. You're stuck with T-shirt Kon. You don't get 90s Kon's style without his character, which you clearly don't respect, understand, or know. So if you can only think of Kon through the lens of "teehee Clex baby haha! I'm going to make Clark owes child support jokes!" then I'm sorry but you only get T-shirt Kon.

"eddie isn't queer/gay," you say. "he is straight in canon, so him being gay is just a head canon. it's ok for others to think of him as straight because that's what he is."

let's ignore for a second the fact that eddie has never ever ever ever not even once, said in canon that he is a heterosexual very straight guy. seriously!!! he has never once said it!!! if i am "assuming" he's gay then you are also "assuming" he is straight even though he has never once said it!!

how do you think we got bi buck as canon? like i am serious right now, answer the question. how do you think we go bi buck canon? evan buckley was never conceived to be a bisexual man at the beginning of 911. the reason we have evan buckley as a canonically bisexual character today is because us, queer fans of 911, interpreted him and headcanoned him as bisexual. i would go even further and say that it was us, BUDDIE FANS, who interpreted him and headcanoned him as bi. even before the writers were explicitly writing him as bisexual. we read his actions and his story and his identity and said: "this is a bi character!" and the writers looked back and realized that it made sense! and so they started writing him explicitly and canonically as bi.

was it wrong of us to headcanon a character as bisexual then? like for all intents and purposes we were reading a "straight" character as bi. were we doing something wrong? how come you are not complaining/chastising us/shaming us for how we took evan buckley, an otherwise straight character, and saw him as bi? is it because it now serves a purpose to you that he is bi?

also, taking characters that aren't confirmed queer and reading them as queer is what the queer community, and specifically the queer fandom community, has been doing for DECADES. look up the history of queer coding, i am begging you. it has been through the means of queer coding and the perseverance of people that are engaged in it that actual queer representation in media has increased. and let me tell you right now, eddie diaz is, undoubtedly and undeniably, one of the most queer coded characters there is. whether you think this queer coding is conscious by the writers or not. eddie diaz is queer coded.

and i want everyone who says things like "eddie diaz is not a queer character. he is straight in canon. it's wrong to assume a character is queer without the character saying so" to know that this is exactly what straight and homophobic people say. you are using the SAME rhetoric that has been used to shame queer fans for decades for seeing themselves and their experiences in fictional characters of all types. in fact, us, queer fans (and again BUDDIE FANS), were told so many times by straight fans that we were wrong for reading buck as bisexual. and where are we now? where did reading buck as bi take us? oh yeah, to having bi buck in canon.

so please just stop with the "eddie isn't queer in canon" comments. if you don't want to interpret eddie as queer then that is your prerogative. i will be judging why that is, for sure, but it is your right. but be honest about it. it has nothing to do with whether or not he is straight (which hasn't been said) or queer coded (which he so obviously is seeing as so many of us can very easily read him as queer). it's a personal preference and you're not engaging with canon better because of it.

hi i simply have to ask about your thoughts on mogi. i’m kind of obsessed with your mogi x light rarepair submission. do u like him paired with light the most or are there others u like him with? thank u for opening my eyes to this sexy man

ouh i LOVE mogi man. he deserves so much appreciation. i honestly just started getting a lot more into mogi and the task force in general (i've always loved them, but my focus has always been on lawlight <//3). currently trying to get more obsessed with them so i adore this ask so much <333

he's such a sweet, silly, hardworking guy. i love all the clips with him. he reminds me of those super buff gym guys who don't have a super hot temper but they can absolutely get a little too competitive and blow their lid off sometimes. they'll always eventually take a step back, ground themselves, and apologize for overreacting, but they're still gonna wear their heart on their sleeve and i always appreciate guys like that. ouh, also, he's super good at baking for no reason. it's a fact i was there i tried his muffins.

as for ships, i'm gonna be so fr-- all my mogi ships aren't about the relationships-- they're about appreciating mogi. and me personally i feel he is most appreciated when he gets to obliterate a twink. that's usually why i ship him with light (or light and L if you wanna get real freaky. ouh also because obliterating light's twink ass is always a bonus too but cough who said that). but i like seeing him with anybody who'll treat him right really <33. mogilight just seems like it could have a lot of fluff potential along with smut + maybe angst?? who knows.

He reminds me SO MUCH of my (neurotypical but very logical) husband! So much so that my youngest pointed him out on the screen when I first turned the TV on, screamed ‘DADDY!’ and that’s how I got sucked into this show. He is one of the few ‘nerd’ characters that is also caring, kind, and reflective–just a treat of a character. I refuse to let my daughters watch the finale, but the oldest one got told the ending by a friend (she had no idea what ‘sacrifice’ really meant, until that moment, I found out 😣)

Echo!

Because:

I’m not only a mom to an Omega and a teeny-tiny girl version of Wrecker (PLEASE HELP ME), but I’ve taught a couple of classes on ethics and robotics. Being able to keep your humanity while in incredibly hard, tough situations is no joke, and Echo does it beautifully. Also as a woman in academia, a program director and a writer, I’ve had to deal with my voice being ignored or belittled, and seeing Echo deal with it makes me love him so much. 

Your favorite minor character from the show:

Fennec Shand.

Because:

Loved her in the Mandalorian and Boba Fett, loved that I used a screenshot of her in TBB to convince my buddies that there was an animated version of The Expanse and she was Camina Drummer.

I feel weird putting my longfics aside, but writing up my redneck neighbor Doug and his hot takes on the Bad Batch, especially how he described the main cast.

Crosshair is in a very weird, but very committed, relationship with his rifle, which has a lady’s name like ‘Jessica’ or ‘Cassandra’ or ‘Christina’. It’s his weaponized waifu.

Green, silver, and black. Partially for camo, mostly because Crosshair has raw Philadelphia Eagles fan energy. Win or lose, he’ll happily burn Broad Street to the ground.

Echo going absolutely APESHIT. Everyone’s going on about Hunter’s Joel Miller era coming up, but after the intro scene of ‘Tipping Point’ and seeing how a turnt up, focused, angry Echo can obliterate a whole damn Imperial vessel in the time it takes me to reheat leftover Chinese in the microwave…well, I need more of that.

i keep debating whether to make this post but ive seen it increase as a trend outside of just my current totally barren niche fandom corner (shoutout to being the only active writer in a ship tag!) and pop up more and more in extremely big major property tags as well, so just as a gentle suggestion to anyone reading this: if you bookmark a fic that you have already read and enjoyed (that is to say, you aren't bookmarking it "for later", but because you liked it), please consider also commenting. ik this isnt true of all writers but one of my largest motivations for sharing the work ive written is to build community and generate discussion around the characters i love, so seeing the bookmark count steadily increase on fics with only 2 or 3 comments ends up being the opposite of the encouragement i technically know it should be, and instead can be kind of frustrating

Does anybody have pages 5-8 or 19-21 of pancaketiffy's Nautical Disaster anywhere? And does anyone know if the comic was ever continued past page 23? I wanna see if I can archive it somehow.

UPDATE: Did some more digging and found pages 19-21 (though two pages are labeled as page 21, which seems like an accident but they are two different pages, I'll have them listed in order,) as well as a 24th page. My guess is that that was the last page that was publicly released, but again, if anyone knows about pages past this point let me know.

So now all I need to find are pages 5-8, and any possible pages after 24.

UPDATE 2: Found page 7, so that leaves pages 5 and 8.

I commented idly to my friend "Sometimes I don't buy a book because it's a translation and I always prefer to read in the original language when possible" and she said in an agreeing-with-me way, "Yeah it would make more sense to read it in English"

and I realized she assumed I meant English when I said "original language"

a) the wodehouseian shoutout of it all. what is bunter but jeeves with the machiavellian streak tuned down and no need to create a certain sublimated frisson with his pet little guy over sartorial disagreements b/c it's truly and genuinely not Like That, b) I cannot get over the mental image of bunter sitting around doing the equivalent of cutting off all the labels and fixing up any annoying seams and washing everything to get the new clothes stiffness out (peter's clothes are obviously all tailored so he doesn't have to deal with those pedestrian sensory horrors in the first place but these are the vibes.
