Okay, zo hello!! Could you maybe make a fic about [READER] being 1x1x1x1s zibling? Kinda like how he'z made out of hate, maybe they could be made out of pure love?
Zhedletsky iz like [READER]z father, and they like have a good (PLATONIC) relationzhip, teaching them how to ztun the killer, etc. But they can make things out of love (?), like maybe a sword or something, being a zurvivor n ztuff
Maybe 1x4 can meet them in the round az they ztun him, and might be confuzed on who they are
And when they're zad/having a intenze emotion maybe they can act out of line, kinda like pure love turning into pozzezzive or unhealthy love! :3
I'm not good at asking for a requezt, zo tell me if itz good or zomething, idk :D
(I've had thiz ztupid thought in my head, rotating around like a pizza in a microwave..)
This is an interesting request! I gotta admit I had a little trouble understanding at times but that's just my stupid brain taking things at face value the first time I read things /ᐠ。‸。ᐟ\ The z's in places of s' are kinda cute tho ngl-
The reader's pronouns shall be they/them!
Tumblr media
You've never even thought about the possibility of having a sibling, much less your father having ever been able to hate.
You were a manifestation of Shedletsky's love, just like 1x was a manifestation of his hatred. But instead of a black and green body, yours was a mix of red and white.
He taught you to be a survivor, to not become like your unknown sibling.
Tumblr media
You could even use your love to make a sword, wanting to make your father proud when you stunned killers. It was bliss in this nightmare of a realm and even the other survivors appreciated your help.
You even developed wings after a short time, much to everyone's surprise. Even Shedletsky hadn't seen that coming but he was proud nonetheless, even helping you figure out how to fly and float.
But since then you occasionally get the nickname 'Cupid' for your silly little wings.
But then the dreaded round came. The round that Shedletsky feared for your sake.
A round with both you and 1x1... Siblings meeting for the first time without realizing it.
Shed had hoped the round could go over quickly, that he wouldn't be confronted by the manifestation of his hatred and the manifestation of his love at the same time.
But he clearly underestimated your loyalty.
As 1x1 was about to strike him, you dropped from above and stunned her using your sword, barely touching the ground before hurrying to accompany your father towards safety.
The killer was severely confused on your existence but just as much as he was mad over being stopped.
And if you were honest, something about her felt familiar... You just decided to shrug it off for now and leave the questions for later.
But then you and Shedletsky ended up as the last two alive, leading to you acting maybe a little out of line as you began muttering to yourself.
"No one touches my papa..." You muttered under your breath as you kept an eye out while guarding Shed. He luckily didn't hear a word because you were clearly not acting like usual.
Why were you suddenly having the urge to take Shed somewhere where no one would find him? That wasn't what you'd want for your father... Right..?
You only got more aggressive when you saw your green and black counterpart approaching. You were practically already hissing as she stared you down, approaching eerily slow and not showing any sign of hostility in contrast to your own. It looked more like tolerance than indifference though.
Shedletsky tried to tell you to run but you wouldn't budge no matter how much he'd plead. Eventually, 1x1 was towering slightly over you and you found yourself unable to move aside from continuing to stare her down.
He was clearly curious and although Shed wanted to just make a run for it, he couldn't just leave you here and knew you would deserve answers.
"I see you've made another..." His voice was directed at your father, causing you to halt your stance entirely to give her a questioning look.
This only annoyed 1x1 further. "Let me guess, they were never made aware of my existence, were they?" He almost sounded like he was scoffing but you couldn't even look at Shed. You didn't want to see the possibility of him confirming that this was what you feared.
She eventually picked you up by your wings, causing you to flail around but accidentally dropping your sword.
"I suppose their size fits. Either they were made recently or you truly had nothing much to feed a being that is the opposite of hatred, right?"
"No one speaks about papa that way!" You finally spoke up, enraged over how 1x1 could talk about Shedletsky.
1x1 seemed a little unsettled by that. "I'm not even surprised it's so possessive of you... Probably self-love." She muttered, promptly killing you to have a private chat with your creator.
The other survivors were honestly a little startled to see your current state. You've never been seen with so much rage in your eyes and it felt a little intimidating even to them...
Let's hope Shed can come back soon and straighten things out...
I'm getting so many asks lately but I don't mind it at all, it just makes things better with me being able to write more! (And all at once too kek-)
Anything you'd like to request/ask? Check out my pinned post first and I'll be happy to write up whatever you want!

Referencing this Au idea here:
Basic idea is that almost everyone in Hisui is a hybrid, except the settlers, causing distrust and fear when the two groups interact.
Hybrid traits lean towards animal-derived Egg Groups such as Field/Monster/Humanoid/Bird etc, but non-traditional Hybrids are possible. Most people with Humanoid Egg Group traits may not even notice they are Hybrids.
Members of both clans are more likely to present with multiple different species traits due to generations of adaptation.
Wardens are preferably chosen not only by skill, but by whether they have a complementary typing to their patron Noble.
Evolution is a much more gradual process, akin to a new life stage.
Legendary Hybrids are exactly that. Legends. The Two Brothers from Unovan lore for example, are believed to be Hybrids of Reshiram and Zekrom respectively.
Mixed Hybrids are possible, but it leans towards the maternal line (just like how breeding pokemon in-game will almost always have the Egg take the species of the mother). Paternal lineage still affects colouration, physical traits, and movesets, however.
I will share my ideas/hcs for whom is Hybridized with what:
Jubilife Village/Galaxy Corps:
Tumblr media
Akari is an Oshawott. I saw a cute fanart of her as a Dewott and I thought; "Yes, she is a confused little water baby." Not used to her new features, or shapeshifting. Gets distracted trying to find "a perfect" seashell/stone for her next stage of evolution. She could also be a Piplup to tie her back to Dawn.
Rei is a Cyndaquil. The colour scheme matches him very well, and I love the imagery of him smoking/flaring up whenever he's embarrassed or angry. He'd also have troubles with identity because of unsavoury legends about his evolutionary line.
Laventon isn't a born hybrid, but he develops traits of a pokemon after spending so much time close to the rifts. I kinda see him being a Dragon-type like the Goodra-line, or a Pokemon specific to Galar like Wooloo (plus it matches his wooly hat).
Cyllene is a hard one. Her connection to Abra makes me think something complementary to Psychic types. Zizu has a line hinting at Cyllene being a master swordswoman + being originally from Hoenn - so perhaps an elegant Fighting Pokemon like Mienshao. She may also be a Golbat/Crobat - the sharp but versatile bat pokemon being the signature mon of Team Galactic's final leader.
Kamado doesn't like Hybrids. He's suspicious of them. He fails to notice he's turning part Hariyama/Machamp.
Tumblr media
Zizu is a Blaziken, hands down. Fire/Fighting type, Tall, fluffy deep red hair and feathers, and a mother hen to her students. Tho her hair do be looking like a Lopunny, so maybe a fiery rabbit like Cinderace?
Pesselle is an Audino - a healing pokemon more well known in Unova. Her hair looks like the feelers.
Tao Hua's grumpiness and flowery name makes me think of a curmudgeonly Torterra. Extremely resourceful but stubborn.
Sanqua is associated with Gen 2's Karen, so she's def a dark-type. Seeing how her quests involve checking in on disturbances around the village, she could be adapted into Absol.
Colza is def connected to Gardenia, and he simply can't not be a Grass type - he is a Sunflora of a man.
Ginkgo Guild/Vendors:
Tumblr media
Ginter is a Manectric. Having a unknown connection to Voltner, and being the leader of a "pack" of traders, it only made sense to make him an electric wolf. His hair has a similar spike too.
Tuli isn't a very complex character; her name is a pun on the Japanese word for the rainy season (tsuiri) so I think or pokemon that naturally learn rain-making moves like Poliwag or Marill.
Volo is a Togetic - angelic in appearance and ability. Slowly evolves into a Togekiss as the storyline progresses. Yes, his hybrid form makes him feel very important.
Beni is a Gardevoir/Gallade. Former ninja or not, he embodies the loyalty associated with the lineage. Also it further connects him to his suspected descendant Wally. Probably noticed his mutation early on, but kept it a secret from Kamado. His new ability to create minor wormholes becomes very useful.
Diamond Clan:
Tumblr media
Adaman is very attached to his Eeveelutions, so I see him being a Vaporeon. Time is liquid after all. Colour theme also looks a bit like the Shinx/Luxio/Luxray line.
Mai was raised alongside Munchlax as her brother, so I thought it would be interesting if she was similar themed pokemon like the active Vigoroth (also similar cowlick hair). With Wyrdeer as her Noble however, she could have traits of a smaller deer pokemon like Deerling.
Arezu was the hardest of the Diamonds to decide upon; as I wanted to connect her pokemon half to her love of fashion/hairstyling. But after seeing a Professor Oak lecture where a furious Krictune gaclve him a mohawk - it clicked. Arezu can make violin-like sounds with her forearms to accompany the Noble Lilligant's dancing.
Iscan is def a water type or beach-related pokemon. His colour scheme reminds me of Mantine. His fear of Ghost types made me wonder if he'd have a typing weak/null to it like a Jellicent, but I just love the imagery of him letting little pokemon and clan members ride on his back. and teaching them how to swim and respect the ocean.
Meli is a double Hybrid of the Stunky/Glameow line. The cat pokemon's spiral tail reflects in his hair style, albeit his tail is more like his Skuntank parent. Acts like a furious, spoilt cat whenever his fur or claws are dirtied. Threatens foes with his (existence debated) scent glands. Only conflict between him and Lord Electrode is how he claws up the Noble's tree.
Sabi is a tiny Rowlet chick. The Noble Braviary is pretty much her adoptive dad. Still a fledgling, so her wings aren't strong enough to carry her long distances.
Pearl Clan:
Tumblr media
Irida; I initially felt would either be an Eeveelution (Jolteon) or an Ice type, but her clothing reminds me heavily of a bug carapace; like a Ledian or Orbeetle. Or if we keep the Ice typing, perhaps a Snom/Frosmoth.
Lian is just a lil Drilbur. He be digging in the dirt from as early as he can remember. Frequently turns up unusual rocks and fossils - maybe others would like finding them if they had an easier time digging?
Calaba's leaf-umbrella makes me think of the Lotad line with their leaf cap, and her concept art shows her having a colouration similar to the shiny form. The similar unimpressed expression is also a bonus. XD Her Bibarel helps her cross fast rivers now that swimming has become difficult.
Palina makes me conflicted on whether she'd be a gorgeous Ninetails (to better tend to her Noble), or a shiny Primarina (making her a lovely mer-seal). Iscan once saved her while she was in full pokemon-form, and she fell for him ever since.
Gaeric is Beartic. Instead of an icy beard, it's chest hair. It's just his vibe.
Tumblr media
Ingo is an Unovan Zorua/Zoroark. Hs dark typing proves verrry useful in keeping back the aggressive Alpha Hisuian Zoroark that roams the mountain - though the other's white markings makes him sad somehow... (Emmet, if he's inthis world, adapts into a Hisuian Zoroark, albeit with shiny colouration).
Unaffiliated:
Tumblr media
Cogita's whole vibe screams Gothitelle, but her connection with Enamorus also makes me think of pokemon associated with emotions like Hatterene. Gothielle's ScarVio pokedex entries are pretty spot on with her character though; "Gothitelle unleashes psychic energy and shows opponents dreams of the universe’s end. These dreams are apparently ethereal and beautiful." + "It gazes at the stars to predict the future. It acts somewhat detached because it has seen the end of all existence."
Charm is connected to Agatha/Bertha, and shows a preference for Ground & Ghost types. Her past as a construction Corps member made me think of her being a "strong/sturdy" pokemon expected to perform hard labour; Nidoqueen would fit with her being the eldest of her adoptive sisters.
Clover is based on Candice from DP, so I looked at her team to figure out what Clover would be Hybridized with. Clover's hairstyle combined with her associated team up made me think of Candice's Medicham - and it's shiny form, which is distinctly blue.
Coin is clearly meant to be connected to Saturn, who's main pokemon is a Toxicroak. The color scheme and vibe fits her very well.
Still need a name for this Au...

Okay hear me out- what if cinder’s father was Linh Garan all along? In the original Cinderella she lives with her biological father (until he dies) and her step mother. So, is it a possibility that it was the same in Cinder’s case, except Garan kept this information hidden from Cinder to protect her identity and potential questions she might ask? The only issue with this theory is that on Marissa Meyer’s blog, she describes Cinder’s ethnicity to be Asian/Caucasian mix. But, Linh Garan doesn’t exactly have a Western surname. It could also be argued that the Blackburn family is Caucasian, but that doesn’t make sense either because Dr. Erland suggests that Cinder has more Asian features in the first book and she is constantly reminded throughout the series of her uncanny resemblance to her mother. The only reasonable explanation is that maybe Channary was mixed? While Blackburn is an English surname, considering how far into the future the series is set, last names and ethnicity may not be as closely correlated as they are today.
Even if the theory is incorrect and Garan isn’t really biologically related to Cinder, do you think she ever actually viewed him as a father figure? Would she ever visit his grave and reminisce?
This theory could maybe work in a modern AU, but it's completely implausible in canon.
Around the time Cinder was conceived, all travel and emigration from Earth and Luna was completely banned. Some Lunars managed to escape to Earth during this time, but it's never mentioned that anyone managed to sneak onto Luna. Moreover, Linh Garan would have no reason to travel to Luna--not only would he have been executed for trespassing, he also was stated to be financially worse off, meaning he wouldn't have had the money to bribe someone to get to Luna.
Linh Garan--although extremely intelligent--was demonstrated to be a distracted, unassuming and unassertive man. Channary always sought out attractive men who wanted her and showed it by confidently making advances at her. The idea of bumbling Garan acting this way is laughable, and in all likelihood, Channary would have never given him the time of day. Furthermore, Garan was already married to Adri and father to Pearl by the time Cinder was conceived, and as he is shown to genuinely love Adri, it is unlikely that he would have an affair, let alone with a Lunar queen.
It's never specified if Cinder's Asian heritage comes from her mother or her father. Since both Channary and Levana wear glamours, their true appearance and thereby race are unknown.
Marissa has stated that she doesn't know who Cinder's father is. Although these are fairytale adaptations, many details from the original tales weren't carried over, so it wouldn't be that strange for Marissa to diverge from the fairytale here and not have Cinder's biological father involved in the story.
As for whether or not Cinder views him as a father figure, the answer is no. She only knows him for a few weeks before he dies, and she comments on several occasions during the series that she "barely remembers him." During the time he was alive, Cinder hardly saw him--apart from the trip in which he brought her to the Commonwealth--because he was always in his workshop. Cinder says that she has "few memories of him", so there really isn't anything to reminisce on.

Sweet Home Cast React To You Being Monsterized Pt 1: "Special Memories Before the Fall of Mankind."
This is a long overdue request from @tapwater-made-everyone-gay . Thank you for your patience, and I am sorry for it being years late. So much has happened in my life, and I needed to step away. To compensate, I decided to make my first ever published fanfiction just for you. It has a mix of horror, angst, and fluff. I started taking up in horror writing and simply wanted to experiment. I hope you enjoy it. Also, a spoiler is mentioned. It is a character death. Keep that in mind.
Hyuk, the one guy that was the unofficial leader of the survival group. Known for pushing people's buttons, geeking out over his hobbies, and being aloof and logical all around, you'd think he'd be indifferent to your infection. I mean, it's not the first time he saw someone become monsterized. Plus, he kept Hyun around due to the benefits of having a half monster around. Surely, he would shrug it off.
Except... he didn't.
It all started when Dusik had finally gotten the elevator going. Things seemed to be turning up for Green Roof's survivors. Then Eun noticed the elevator tik...tik...tik... down to maximum capacity. She stared at the screen as her breath hitched. You went up to her and asked her what was wrong. You asked her why she looked so pale as she continued to stare with those... glassy eyes, sweat dripping down her face, and then You followed her eyes and saw it too...
Maxiumum capacity.
Everyone was cheerful until the elevator finally opened up, and there was no longer any weight but rather the security guy. His eyes were dull, and his skin was wrinkled and had stretch marks everywhere. But these were no ordinary stretch marks. They looked so... deep. As if someone grabbed the flesh off his bones and stretched it to their liking. The room fell silent until one of the people went up to talk to him and then the quiet room filled with that deafening echo of a weed whacker and that stomach churning crunch of the resident's bones followed by the sickening thud of his body being slammed against the tiled floor.
By now, everyone was screaming while Hyuk and the others prepared to fight. You paced yourself, preparing your body and mind for a fight when suddenly... the room turned red.... and all the screams muffled. The reverberations of the horrific ambiance melted away when your inner voice cried out:
T̷͙̕͝h̵͍̓a̶͉͘ṱ̵̇'̴͖̰̐̚l̵̨̉ḽ̴̢͗͝ ̷̱̱̀b̷͇͝ẹ̵̫̽ ̴͇̭̒͝ẙ̸̤̱ò̷̬̘͋u̸͓̓͝ ̶̘̫̇ḛ̷̰̈́̃v̸̭͐̉ë̷̝́͗n̸̟͚̈́͠t̴̢̳̎ŭ̸̬̚ä̴̧͙́l̸̻͘l̶̻̏͝ͅẏ̵͇̊͜,̵̨̤͛́ ̴̳̲̾̐y̴̹̑o̴̲̰͗̍u̵̗̅ ̷̗̽̕k̵̩̄ń̵̖o̷͓̍ŵ̶͖͇.̴̪͐̋.̶̤̆̀.̸̞̾
(That'll be you eventually, you know...)
Your eyes shifted between the monster before you and your team. Between each shift, you caught glimpses of certain members noticing your odd behaviors. How You groaned in pain when no one hit You, how You stumbled back, down to how you grabbed your head with your hands so tightly that blood seeped into the bedding of your nails from their digging. You tried to shake away the feeling and fight, but the pain was too strong. You went to run for cover to at least be out of the way when Hyuk asked You what was wrong.
You couldn't possibly tell him. You couldn't do it. Not right now, at least. So you just looked at him, mouth agape as the words poured out.
"It... hurts..."
He pulled your arm over his shoulder and lowered you into the corner of the room. Your vision was distorted, but even then, you saw the way his eyebrows were upturned. There was a plea in his eyes, a prayer to the unknown. A cry for a sliver of hope that maybe, just maybe, it wasn't what he thought it was.
Was Hyuk the emotional type? Never. At least, never in young adulthood. He was emotional as a child until his world changed when his father died. Then suddenly... he grew up. That emotional sensitivity that a child usually has seemed to have died with his father because there was no use to cry. He had every reason to cry, but in his mind, he never had the time or the place to do so. So to him, there was no need for tears, and therefore no need for emotions. But of course, there were exceptions. There was the occasional tragic event that could crack even the coldest persona a person could hold, his little sister, and.... You.
Long before the world went up in flames, you moved into Green Roof for your own reasons. You settled in and were on your way to the convenience store for enough food to get you through the rest of the night when a guy bumped into you. That guy happened to be Hyuk. What started off as an awkward run-in led to a friendship that lasted even into the apocalypse. You would visit him often, and he would visit when he could. More often than not, however, it was you who came to him because he had to stay with his sister.
Hyuk seemed alright with You, if not a little awkward. Sometimes, he would say something like, "Only if it's You." And then follow up with "uh... that sounded weird." There would be times where he would be caught sneaking glances at You, or putting an arm around You, ultimately, it never led to anything. He wanted to tell You. He really, really wanted to tell You. But whenever he opened his mouth... nothing came out. Until now, all he could say were the words; "See you later."
But now he was struck with fear. Even in the swift moments of a fight, Hyuk couldn't help but wonder if this would be his last "See you later." The idea of You leaving him was painful enough let alone monsterization. Plus... and most likely the most painful part of it all... was that he never got to tell You how he felt. Despite all of that, he had to push his feelings aside. In his mind, as he witnesses the horrors of his reality that the world is ending and so is the love of his life, he has to bottle it up and keep acting like the Hyuk everyone knew. Someone who was blunt, cold, indifferent, and simply sees people as chest pieces. That's what he had to be right now. The Hyuk he is now. The Hyuk that everyone sees. But even when humans bottle up their feelings, they always bubble up to the surface and overflow. Even in the midst of the fight, his feelings of fear, paranoia, worry, and above all, profound sorrow persisted. But his unfazed front persisted more.
As Hyuk fights both his physical and internal battles, You leaned back against the wall and watched the fight unfold. With every blink, your vision grew more and more faded. It was by that point that You didn't notice Jay being murdered, or Eun hurt herself, or... even... Hyuk ran to Eun, and his face became deprived of any color as he saw the blood run down your nose.
The cold Hyuk had finally thawed in that moment. It was subtle, but sometimes it's the most subtle changes that speak the loudest. At first, everyone brushed it off as the typical reaction to a monster. But even days after the fight, Wook noticed Hyuk staring off a lot. Jisu noticed how Hyuk seemed more restless. Eun saw her big brother become a little more irritable over the tiniest things. Then there was Hyun... who noticed Hyuk's changes in private. He saw the way Hyuk scratched away at a sheet of paper frantically, how he started chewing his nails, he could tell something was wrong.
Finally, Hyuk came to see You in private. Which was a bit uncomfortable, given the fact that lately, the two of you had some sort of tension. Every word he said to You was laced with an undertone of concern. Every conversation up to now always ended with the feeling that something might be lurking beneath that easy-going smile of his.
When he came to see You, he wasn't smiling anymore. He simply looked you in the eyes and said, "You're infected." You nodded, and he looked away. He stared out the window and said, "So... we would have to vote you out as to whether or not we should throw you out."
Your blood ran cold. You couldn't help but think, "How the hell could he do this? At least, how can he be so cold about it?" You spoke up, "I understand why you are saying this, but how can you be so cold about all of this?"
Hyuk didn't face You. But You could tell from the jolt his shoulders gave and the buckle of his knees that he was very much upset. He stayed silent before replying with, "I'm not being cold, I'm just saying it as it is."
You retorted, "Stating the facts would also include acknowledging our past together, you know that, right?" He tensed up again. You continued, "Unless it meant nothing to you."
By now, Hyuk finally turned around and said, "It....It did. I'm just focusing on our team." You chuckled a little hearing that and said, "Yeah, like how our team focuses on you? All they ever do is rely on you. Jisu, Wook, Hyun, Eun, Yuri, and Dusik are one of the few people who actually help instead of complaining that the world is ending. You even kept Hyun around for his monsterization. You went as far as manipulating the votes in your favor and did so because you saw something in this stranger yet--" Hyuk interrupted saying, "Yes I did, because Hyun had--" You interrupted him saying, "I'm not finished talking yet. Don't interrupt me. You aren't willing to throw out some guy you just met, calling it 'murder', yet you're so quick to throw me out? After years together? Are you fucking kidding me, Hyuk?"
He stood there, a little stunned now as the realization hit him that this was the first fight you two had in a while. In fact, come to think of it, it was the first fight you guys had ever. A lot of times, the confrontations would defuse as one of the parties would descalate the situation. But right now, Hyuk was unintentionally instigating, and you were being aggressive, which caught him off guard. Of course, he always knew that there was some side to You that can only be shown when pushed far enough. Everyone has a breaking point, after all. He just never imagined himself being the person to push You there. In all honesty, the whole ordeal hurt a lot on both sides. On one hand, You felt as though Hyuk had essentially disregarded your shared pasts, and on the other hand, Hyuk wanted to tell you the truth but he wasn't too sure if now was a good time or not.
Then again... is there ever a good time to confess your love in everyday life? Let alone an apocalypse with your infected lover? There isn't. There is only a better time and a worse time. While the moment was one of the worst times, in a world such as this, you must take whatever time you have because it can easily be the last moment within a few minutes.
With that in mind, he answered.
"I'm sorry. I didn't mean it like that. I kept Hyun around because I figured we could benefit from him. But even then, I don't really enjoy having someone who could become a full-fledged monster any moment. I...never wanted to throw you out."
You glared at him and said, "Well you sure as hell act like you do."
Hyuk was now looking away. His hands tightly grasped the fabric of his pants, and you could see a faint tear streaming down his face. Hyuk was still silent. He wanted to pick and choose his words carefully. He had already made things bad enough. He wanted to tell you the truth, but try his best not to escalate the situation. He took a deep breath and said,
"From when we first met, until now. Our time meant everything to me. It really did. I'm not good with people or emotional stuff, so I'll try my best to explain. Please listen. When I saw your nose bleed, I felt scared. It wasn't the idea of another monster in the room that scared me. It was the idea that you would leave me."
Hyuk glanced up at you and saw that even in the tension filled silence, your face seemed to change a little. It was as if you gave him a silent nod to continue. So he did.
"I don't want to throw you out. I never did. I try to put up this front, and I can't keep doing it, especially when it comes to you. I try to be the logical leader, but it is really hard sometimes, especially in a world such as this and especially when someone you...really, really care for is at stake. You've always mattered to me. You and Eun both. When I told you that we would have to throw you out, that would be if I enforced it. And I wouldn't. I'm in this position where I have to prevent them from taking you away while also trying to show no bias in the group. I know this is a really bad time to say this, but I've always... liked you. I wish I had told you sooner. Maybe then we could have had some special memories before the apocalypse came. Clearly, I'm too late. Seeing your nose bleed reminded me that things can happen fast. So I figured, I should tell you that I love you now. Because in a matter of minutes one of us could go."
You stared at him. You didn't know what to say. You always had feelings for Hyuk. From his nerdy hobbies, to the way he cared for his sister, you loved him a lot but never said anything because you didn't want to risk ruining things or inconveniencing him since he already had work, school, and a little sister to care for. That barrier between fantasy and reality was there and higher than ever. The fantasy of telling him and living happily-ever-after versus the reality of work, school, rent, and so forth was always what kept you from saying it. But now, Hyuk was saying it. So maybe it's time you say something too.
"I always felt that way about you too, Hyuk. I just never said anything since you always carried so much that I didn't want to be a burden."
He laughed a little now, saying, "Nah. The apocalypse is a bigger burden than you telling me how you feel. I mean, not that you're a burden, just... y'know..."
Finally, the tension seeped out of the room, and You smiled, saying, "Yeah. I know. And now that it's the apocalypse, we have nothing to lose!"
Hyuk's smile fell as he replied, "Except each other and Eun." Your smile fell too as You replied, "Yeah, except each other and Eun."
The silence returned. But you couldn't let things end there. You held his hand and said, "Is it okay if I kiss you before I turn?" Hyuk grinned, but You can see the tears creeping around the corner of his eyes as he said, "Yes."
You cupped his cheeks, bringing his lips to yours. You couldn't help but blink away the tears as you thought, "If only this happened sooner..." While You can't wish away the inevitable apocalypse, You did wish the confession came sooner. As Hyuk said, maybe then you guys could have shared some special memories before the fall of mankind. But, it's better late than never, right?

do you miss me? | changbin x gn!reader angst | does she miss you too?
there was no denying she was a beauty. she's so bright, bubbly and so full of comfort, it's hard not to fall for her. i feel sorry for her and at the same time not at all. it was a weird feeling that my chest was mixing whenever i saw them together. he looked so happy with her yet it was all fake (or maybe it was all fake when he was with me?). he's gotta date her because that's what their contracts say, he's gotta be with her, love her, cherish her, be seen with her, fuck her and just overall have her in every way, shape or form.
it was no lie that the biggest magazines said they were the "it" couple. the one to watch out for as they were both rising stars in the industry. different companies that came together to be even bigger just by having two people date in front of the cameras was pathetic really but who i was to discuss these decisions? i knew nothing. hidden like a secret that nobody wanted to keep, i found myself in my apartment that i shared with him once again. wondering why he still kept me around and why he wasn't with her, maybe because he chose me first or maybe he just felt bad about leaving me. the angel and devil on my shoulder kept fighting about the worst of possibilities and i was just tired at this point.
the most permanent news were going around that the new it girl group was dating the stray kids producer. i shut it off as i looked at the tv screen one last time to see that damn image of them kissing on the red carpet. it wasn't professional but it sure as hell looked convincing under all the facade that i was facing every single day. he didn't even come home lately, he just stayed at the dorms because it was easier to not be seen going to an unknown apartment in the middle of the night. no messages would pop up, no calls would come in and no keys would jingle at the door.
it was almost as if i lived alone here and i was starting to get used to it. as if there was a break up that happened that i didn't take part in deciding. even now thinking of it, what would i even say? that i wanted to stay? he didn't want me and it showed. so much debate going on in my head, made me miss him walking in the apartment. a sense of stress washed over me as soon as i saw him.
"i missed you." he said calmly and i sighed. even if it did make my heart beat faster, i knew it was a lie. i didn't want more pity in my life, it was enough with my friends, my family and his bandmates making sure that i was okay all the time after seeing what was going on.
"did you?" i asked bitterly. i wanted to cry but i wasn't going to, i was stronger than my tears this time as i kept my position clear. "we haven't talked in so long changbin".
"and i'm sorry about that but you know how it is with the comeback and-". as soon as i knew what he was gonna say, i cut him off
"and the new relationship, yeah i get it." i responded as i tried to keep my composure and remain as calm as i could even if it felt like the world fell apart 300 times whenever i heard him mention it.
"i didn't want this (y/n)! don't pin the blame on me." he said and i knew his temper, he quickly lost it whenever we fought but this time it felt like a lie. putting on a mask to make it seem like he truly did love me and he was just playing along because his company forced him to. i knew better than that (or did i?).
"yeah sure, like it's not easy to be with someone who looks like a model and has the most lovely personality. oh yeah your life is so hard." i backfired and crossed my arms as i looked at him, trying to think of how to answer that without getting too mad.
"what do you want me to do? it's already everywhere and if i tell our managers what i want, they won't take me fucking seriously." he said like it would make things better that he even considered telling them about it. they chose the one member in a relationship to do this, they were so fucking cruel that it just didn't matter did it? this was better for the band and it will never be good for us. even if they did get more fans, what was the point? well...
"just tell me the truth changbin, i don't want any more lies." crystal tears were now falling from my eyes as all composure and calm was lost. "do you love her?" i asked or mumbled as best as i could.
"what? you're seriously asking me if-" he saw me sobbing and then stopped what he was saying. he got closer to me but i just backed off, i didn't want to be touched by him anymore. "baby please. you know well that i-i only love you."
"answer my question please." i insisted and i just got the worst response i could ask for.
"i don't know. it's probably because i've spending a lot of time with her but that's it!" he said and i just shook my head in disbelief. of course he was falling, just like i said it was impossible not to fall for someone like her. everything resembled perfection itself and who was i to deny him how he felt? he needed to get out of here immediately. "but i do need you, i do want to be with you and as soon as this is over, i'm announcing you as my significant other like you deserve."
"i won't be here anymore." i said almost not believing myself as i got up with all the strength that i had in that moment 'cause all i wanted was to curl up into a ball and cry. "i can't wait for you anymore, especially if you're already falling for her."
"no, you know i can't let you walk away." he said as i was already on my way to our shared bedroom. i grabbed my suitcase and started throwing stuff in, not even looking what it was but knowing most of it was mine. "don't do this, we fucking said forever and now you're throwing it away?"
"so now it's my fault huh? tell me if you saw me kissing, holding hands, hugging, fucking another guy would you like it? if i told you i was falling for him would you stay?" i asked knowing the answer and being met by complete silence. i zipped the suitcase once i was done 'cause i needed to go as soon as i could. "hope you don't do to her what you did to me 'cause it was a living hell waiting for you."
"you know it's always gonna be you right?" he mumbled as i could feel the tears coming in any second now. "i don't want anyone else and even if i did feel something for her, it doesn't compare to what i feel for you."
the quiet was so loud that i almost felt a little bad for doing this. but no, i could not walk straight into those arms as much as i wanted to. i could not do this to myself once again when all i did was love him and i got stabbed in the back.
"too bad you didn't show it." i said, looking at him one last time as i stood right in front of the door. "please don't text or call me changbin, it was good while it lasted but you really did lose me this time."
and i walked out of his life.
forever?

I imagine the android reader to have like a mix of vivy fluorite, astroboy & Detroit become human mix to them! Like Zelda created them using technological advances machinery but their battery is powered by a weird unknown "special magic" that keeps the body from ever needing to recharge again. Maybe they have a fake skin that is either projected or placed on top of their metallic body to make them look like a person. Bonus they can change their appearance for spy work for the kingdom but outside of work they're a little bad at being able to act like a person on their own without copying other people's mannerisms.
I have this idea of the princess only wanting to make a machine that would do the fighting against Ganon instead of waiting around for the hero to be ready or to show up. So u can only imagine when it turns out they are sentient but the princess just thinks their programming is just getting better at presenting themselves as a person. I think Android readers would definitely have a hard time grasping why they have these "emotions" because in a weird way they sort of see Zelda as the closest thing they have to a mom? So u can only imagine how much they try to get their creators approval & praise by doing tasks no one else can do but Zelda, not out of maliciousness just keeps brushing off readers accomplishments as a machine doing it's job until.
------
Zelda had just gotten done with his morning meeting with the council about the trade affairs with other Kingdoms & nations increase in their ports goods. She was skimming through the hollow projected screen and she kept swiping at the documents with a tired & bored expression.
"Hylia these are a pain in the ass." She sighed while reaching over to grab one of the cups on the hovering plate next to her only to accidentally knock it over with her hand.
"Shit-!" She turned to see the cup begin to fall knowing they wouldn't have been fast enough to catch it until suddenly a humanoid hand almost instantaneously catches it at breaking neck speed before even a drop to fall down & places it on the princess hand.
"Please be careful princess,it is still hot." The gentle but slightly off voice from A!reader speaks as they go back to standing by their side.
The princess sighs " That was close."
A!reader has a small flash of light over their eyes as their brows furrow in "I should also alert you that he has escaped past all our guards & is about to arrive here right-"
Suddenly the sound of a door slamming open and the sound of a child's laughter penetrates the air but not far behind an angry older woman's voice follows almost startling the princess to drop their cup once again.
"Zelda! I want to show u something!! You have to see this! Look! Look! "
Looking up and placing her cup down a boy dressed in almost all green hoodie almost too big for him with blond hair & missing tooth rushes over with a piece of paper in his hand as an older woman in a pencil suit skit & a tight tied back bun rushes in bare foot with a pair of heels in one hand looking very much winded.
"Link what are you-" before Zelda could even finish speaking the boy had already leaped himself on her lap
"look! Look! I did it! I got almost all the questions right this time! Look!" The boy eagerly waved & practically shoved the paper into her face.
Zelda grabbed the sheet of paper to properly examine it as the older woman at the door started to walk forward clearly exasperated & tired from possibly having to run from one side of the castle to the other in order to the catch Link all while four other guards seem to catch up.
"I am so sorry your majesty, I tried to tell him to not disturb you at this time as you are very busy but I and none of the guards could stop him from leaving, I tried to chase him bu-"
"that's quite alright, he just wanted to show me what he did is all, I'll make sure he'll be going back shortly" the princess waved off the guards & tutor to be dismissed as she read the piece of paper the small child was so eager to show him.
It was a simple math homework sheet with questions for multiplication & subtractions.Math was honestly not his strongest suite, that's why Zelda got him a private tutor to help him improve in school.it had a few doodles & stains on it with a shaky hand writing at the top reading Link's name with a 9/10 written next to it.
"You did so well! I am so proud of you! I can't believe how smart you're getting now! You might be a genius soon if you keep this up!" Zelda placed her hand over his head & ruffled it as she brought him in for a big hug.
"I am gonna be real smart and-and-and get all the points in my test tomorrow at school! Look! I always used to get really low ones but now I get it really high!" Link took the paper from her hands & brought out a lower scored identical copy of the sheet to demonstrate the difference in his development.
" Yes you did! It's very high now! I think that's the highest score anyone ever got! If u keep practicing like this you might one day *gasp* become smarter than me?!" Zelda placed both her hands on her cheeks with an exaggerated look of shock on her face.
A!reader looked down towards the sheet of paper Link held behind before returning to their spot .
Linked looked at her as he titled his head in confusion & an eyebrow raised to Zelda. " No way! Your the superest duperest smartest person in the WHOOOLE world! I can't do that!" Link raised his hands up to stretch them as far apart as he could on the whole world part as saliva and spit started to come up before he quickly wiped it off with his sleeve.
"I don't knooow..." Zelda said as she crossed her arms to him "You seem really smart, I don't think I've EVER seen anyone get as many questions on this test before, that's still really impressive to me! so don't sell yourself too short on that little man!" She circled her finger around his face before booping his nose wich then let out a giggle from him as she began to tickle him thus creating more laughter from both of them.
The android smiles at the display of affection.
" Haha! Ok! Ok! But u have to go now Link, I have work I need to do right now & you need to get going to school now!" She placed her hands under his arm pits & lifted him up then down to the floor giving him a small pat on the back as he ran to his tutor's side waving back to her before he left.
" Bye-bye Zelda!Bye-bye A!Reader." As Link rushes off the android waves back to him with a small smile.
"Bye link! Be good at school! And no fighting!" Zelda shouted
"Goodbye Link.Have a pleasant day at school." A!reader spoke out to the toddler as the door finally clicked shut & there was silence.
Zelda slumped back in exhaustion as they realized the amount of work that was still left.
"ok A!reader give me the reports of all the assignments you've finished in delta B." Zelda leaned over her desk with her elbows resting on her desk as she tries to message the sides of her temple as they groaned at all the work needed to be done.
A!reader stands up straighter this time, almost certain what they had to report would please Zelda.
"I've finished filling 400 A3b6 files and found 5,6789 hylianntarian law breaches as well as " A!reader reported
Zelda continued to skim over the screen without so much as looking over to them.
" I finished 56 of the requested documents asked by the council & 456 of the financial forgien aid documents." A!reader reported again as they paused for a reaction again this time.
"uh-huh." Zelda picked up the cup & took a sip from it still not looking away from their screen.
Ah yes, there it was again, that irrational force inside of the A!reader's chest.
"I was able to uncover 48 different corrupted officials in our offices & 12 spies in our guard quarters." A!Reader took a step closer to see if there was any change in her expression. But Zelda didn't even seem to register any they had said.
They continue to list off the rest of their accomplishments and succeed tasks during their time outside the castle walls but it seemed no matter they said it didn't Garner any praise from their creator. This had just been how it always was since they were created 5 years ago but yet they still seemed to long for that connection. Maybe it was because they had no other friends or family to look to for companionship or maybe it was the fact that they were still unsure if they were a real person themselves & wanted to pursue what these "feelings" were really but one thing was certain they wanted their creators approval.
Finally Zelda finished their drink and places the empty cup down.
"You know I made that drink myself after my last voyage, did you enjoy it, was it good?" A!reader proceeded to pick up the cup and place it on the floating plate before placing it in a shoot to be teleported away.
"hm? Oh yes it was very unique, I suppose."
Zelda quickly turned her head to the side to glace towards them before returning to the screen again.
Silence.
There was continued silence.
.....
......
......
...…....
"4x2= 8"
Zelda stopped in her work to turn to the Android "What did you say?"
"5x10=50"
"huh?"
"1-6=5"
"what are you-?"
"7-5=2, 4x1=4, 6x11=66, 3x3=9, 6-2=4"
"is something wrong with your software? Why is it that your calculating Radom numbers?" Zelda started to get out from her seat & move towards tge bot.
"12-3=9 and 4x6= 24." they finally finished right as Zelda stopped right in front of them to place her hands on their sensors to check for any errors in their system only for the report to come back clean.
"huh? there doesn't seem to be anything wrong with you-"
" I answered all the questions."
"what?" Zelda
"I said I completed all the questions on the sheet."
A!reader replied pointing to the homework on the table left behind by Link.
Zelda looked at them puzzled " why did you answer those questions? I didn't ask for you to do it?unless of course-"
But why did they do that? On their own? Why do they always seem to do these sorts of things over and over? What was the goal really in all this?
Zelda looked to the ground hand on chin before a light bulb struck.
"That's right! Were u trying to copy Link? You understand you don't need to impersonate anyone to seem real in front of me." Zelda patted their shoulder before sitting down again but yet again A!reader received the same dejected force within them. It really seemed no matter what they did they always seemed to fail.
Real
A!reader thought about that word.
Seem Real.
Then something inside of them connected.
"we should try and update your programs-" Zelda was then cut off.
"No.. I don't think that's a problem, princess." A!reader said, head slightly lowered down as they looked to thier hands.
Yes this was always here wasn't it? Reader thought to themselves. These urges,these...desires have always been here where they.
"What are you trying to imply here?" Zelda turned to their chair with a raised brow.
They weren't trying to seem real all this time..
They were trying to BE real.
"I don't think I am trying to seem real,I believe that....that it is possible or probable..." The Android began to trail off on their words.
Real.
REAL.
Real...?
Real.

Real
Real
real
REAL!
Real.
That was the word they were looking for
That was the explanation they were searching for.
they had just wished someone would have told them what it was before.
"What if... What I actually..."
"Creator, what if...I am...real."
Silence.
.....Holy cow.
Do I even say anything to this? XD
I wanna just leave it to stand on it's own as a testament to your writing ability. I love it.
The magic is a lot like Zane's then. Not entirely sure what it is but it's powerful, everlasting and without a need of a charge.
But what if Link comes into their time for real? What would be the purpose of Android! Reader then? Would Zelda consider dismantling it since Reader would no longer be needed? o.o

Chapter 4 - Domain
Gojo Satoru x Female Reader
Tags: Friends with Benefits, Smut, Teasing and a little bit of Fluff.
Summary: Gojo returns from his trip, and while the two of you are hanging out you ask him to show you some of his powers. Unable to resist himself, he breaks a rule along the way.
A/N: Thank you so much for the likes and reblogs! I pretty much only have this updated on AO3 but am slowly trying to add all the chapters onto my Tumblr.
- - -
When Gojo texted you to let you know that he was at his apartment, he did it with a devious prank in his mind. He informed you that you could let yourself in as the door was unlocked but chose to turn off all the lights and hid in one of the closets.
Then he waited.
He heard the patter of your footsteps and a soft “hello, before creeping out from his hiding place and lightly approaching you. He was quiet enough for you not to hear him, the shadow of your frame slowing down and he could tell you were getting nervous.
She’s going to kill me, he thought to himself but refused to back out now that he had already set things in motion.
He towered behind you, noticing you freeze in place by the unknown and proceeded to wrap his long arms around your waist before pulling you into his body.
“ Boo !” he exclaimed in your ear, earning a well deserved shriek on your part.
“GOJO, YOU IDIOT!”
You elbowed him in the stomach, forcing him to let go of you as a fit of giggles escaped his lips.
You marched over to the light switches, flicking them to illuminate his large penthouse apartment and you furrowed your brows at the six-foot-three goofball who was covering his mouth to hold in his laughter.
“This is how you greet your friends after coming back from a trip?! By scaring the shit out of them?! Who the hell does that?!!”
Gojo tried to contain himself but the image of your jump scare was perfectly etched in his brain, replaying over and over again. “I’m sorry, I’m sorry …” he said in between laughs, breathing in to regain control of himself. “I couldn’t help myself but you should see your face!”
“Ugh, you immature , asshole!” you grumbled, throwing the bag that you were holding in your hands in his direction.
Gojo had superior reflexes and caught it before it flew over his shoulder. He took a minute to calm himself down, extremely pleased that his plan went accordingly.
Meanwhile, you tossed your purse onto his coffee table, huffing to yourself as you plopped down on his black sofa. You folded your arms across your chest, unable to even look at him because of how irritated you were.
Gojo glanced down at the bag in his hand, the clear plastic enclosing a number of rainbow colored candies on the inside.
He bit his bottom lip out of guilt. “Okay, I’m sorry …I mean it this time…”
You scoffed, “are you? Because you still seem pretty content with what you just did.”
“I’m not going to lie, seeing you react like that was worth it…”
You scooted away from him as he took his seat next to you.
“What if you were some kind of murderer?!”
“Now why would you think a murderer would be in this apartment when I  invited you over in the first place? You’re smart, use a little logic…” he teased as he tapped your temple lightly before proceeding to open the bag of sweets.
“That’s it, you don’t deserve Rina’s candies...”
Gojo clasped his chest in disbelief, “ you don’t mean that… ”
You snatched the bag away from him, a satisfied smile spreading across your lips as Gojo frowned.
Deep down inside he was really happy to see you. Playful banter and all, your presence was the recharge he needed after his trip.
The two of you met eight years ago at Rina’s candy shop. At the time, your best friend was just starting her own confectionary business which you were helping her with by working part time while you were still studying at university. Gojo couldn’t get enough of her sweets, earning himself a reputation as a repeat customer. You and Rina constantly joke that he practically kept the business afloat during the early days. What you didn’t know is that he also had his eyes on Rina’s pretty friend. Unfortunately for Gojo, you were taken and oblivious to his advances.
He didn’t care; just because you weren’t interested in him in a physical sense, didn’t mean that you both couldn’t be friends. Gojo is the type of guy who would confidently socialise with anyone around him. He knew not everybody took to his personality, especially when the words “narcissist”, “egotistical” and “arrogant” were constantly used to describe him. You knew all this about him but still chose to maintain your friendship. How you put up with his petty behavior and childish ways often had him wondering why you stuck around but he was grateful that you did.
After all, you were his closest friend - the only person he relied on after Suguru died.
Gojo pouted his lips, singing your name as he leaned forward to you and softening his tone. “If I get down on my knees and apologise will you forgive me?”
“Hmmm…” you pondered, “I think that’s a fair punishment and you’re buying dinner tonight, which I’ll be choosing so you can’t make a fuss about it.”
Gojo nodded his head and shifted his position to plant his knees onto the floor. He placed one hand on his chest, his other lifting up his blindfold so he was peeping at you with just one eye.
“I sincerely apologize for the hurt I caused you. Will you please, with a cherry on top , forgive this idiot who is on his knees?”
He noticed your lovely smile, amused that he was the reason behind this reaction.
“Okay, you're forgiven,” you replied, as you extended the bag of sweets back to him, offering him to take his pick.
Gojo returned to his sit next to you, his fingers dipping into the candy mix before pulling out a ruby colored square and popping it into his mouth.
“Mmmm…” he moaned, as the flavor burst along his tongue, “ this is good.. .”
“It’s a fresh batch. She made it this morning,” you replied, picking up a piece of candy for yourself. “Now that we can be civilized. Tell me how your trip went…”
The two of you spoke briefly about his trip but Gojo wasn’t eager to disclose the headache he is currently going through trying to uncover the fingers of a one-thousand year old curse. Instead he shifted the conversation back to you, asking how your morning with Rina went instead. He was only back for twelve hours before he had to leave again. The two of you wanted to see each other but agreed that you would hold off on “grabbing drinks” until he returned three days from now.
However, Gojo noted how good you looked seated right in front of him. Before all this started, you would usually show up at his place in casual clothes, paying no attention about how you looked but tonight he realized that you made an effort.
You made an effort to look nice for him.
He appreciated it, because the pair of denim jeans you had on fit in all the right places that he loved paying attention to. Your white t-shirt revealed a hint of the lace bralette you were wearing underneath and the man wondered if that was a deliberate fashion choice on your part just to tease him. Your lips were painted in crimson, practically forcing him to focus on your mouth. He had to remember that the rules were there for a reason. The rules ensured that the two of you maintained the boundaries of your friendship. The rules were there because you two needed to make sure that this didn’t influence your existing relationship in any way.
“Can I ask you a question?”
“Yeah, but I can’t promise an answer…” Gojo cheekily replied, popping another sweet in his mouth as he grinned at you.
“Can I see your… domain ?”
“Is that supposed to be a code for my dick or something?”
You rolled your eyes at him, “you keep telling me about all these powers you have but I’ve never seen any of it.”
Gojo squinted his eyes at you, “why are you so curious about me all of a sudden?”
“What do you mean?”
“Well, you were asking me a lot of questions about work just now, which you usually don’t do, and now you want me to show you my skill set…”
You fidgeted in place, your fingers tapping nervously against the fabric of your jeans. “I don’t know, I think it’s weird that we have been friends for so long but I still don’t know the real you…”
Gojo paused, taken aback by your statement, “of course you know the real me.”
“Not the parts of you that you keep hiding from me.”
It’s for your own good, he thought to himself.
Gojo pressed his lips together to stop himself from saying those words.
“You already know about my Six Eyes…” he light heartedly replied.
“There’s more to you than that! I guess I’m just curious to see what else you can do. Besides, I’m starting to come up with theories about your powers. Starting with the fact that you have to wear this blindfold at all times otherwise you’re going to start shooting blue laser beams at people.”
“No laser beams, I can promise that,” Gojo replied with a nervous chuckle.
“Then show me the you that “claims” to be the strongest jujutsu sorcerer…” you said, poking him gently on the shoulder. “I just…want to see something …”
Gojo pondered for a moment, sighing to himself as he was not quite sure what he could possibly do that wouldn’t risk putting you in danger. A few seconds passed before he stood up, taking the bag of sweets from your hand and placing it near your purse.
“I want you to stand in front of me,” he requested as he walked around the sofa and found a spot in the middle of the room.
You did as he asked and motioned your way to the position that he had requested. Gojo extended his arm out, ensuring that you were a good distance away.
“Alright, now give me a hug.”
You arched your brow, “seriously?”
“Just do it…” he insisted.
“If this is another stupid prank…”
“I swear it isn’t. Now give me a hug, I’m trying to make a point.”
You walked over towards him, taking your time until you were a few inches away from him. Your arms looped around his waist as you embraced him, but you stared up at him in confusion waiting to see what Gojo was planning next.
“Now what?”
“Okay…” Gojo placed both his hands on your shoulders, before motioning you back until you were an arms length away from him again. “Now I want you to try and push me,” he commanded.
“Push you?”
“Yes. Try to knock me down.”
You scoffed and he could tell that you probably thought he was messing around with you again. Just to play along you nonchalantly placed both your hands up and moved over to shove him, only this time Gojo did something that he’s never done in your presence.
Your eyes widened, your hands pressing into the air that was separating your touch from his body. The force like iron poured over concrete, incredibly powerful and completely protecting Gojo from you.
“Wait… why…” you voice shook, as your frustration got the better of you. Your hands started to tremble and Gojo noticed you increasing your force as you tried to fight the barrier of his infinity technique.
“ Why can’t I touch you?…”
You were using your legs to push now, every ounce of energy going into fighting the invisible cloak that shielded him.
Gojo smirked before dropping his infinity.
You felt the barrier lift, the pressure giving way as you hurled into him. Your body collided into his, all that pent up energy crashing into the sorcerer as you fell onto the ground. Gojo braced your fall but your face was planted into his chest and your arms lay flat on the ground besides him.
“Are you okay?” he asked, a hint of worry in his voice.
You gathered your senses, pushing yourself until you were sitting upright to face him. A puzzled look masked your face as you patted Gojo’s chest lightly before clutching shoulders and massaging your hands down his arms. “I can touch you now!  How…how did you do that?…”
Your gaze lifted to meet his own both shocked and amazed by what just happened.
With his blindfold on you couldn’t tell that he was looking at you with wonderment.
Gojo straightened his back so that the two of you were facing each other. You shifted your legs, adjusting your position so you were straddling him. Your hands were still pressing his arms, gripping onto them as if you were trying to prove to yourself that you were indeed touching him.
“You asked me to show you something. So I did...” he said with a shrug.
“Was that your domain? Are…are you the domain?!”
Your innocent question made his heart swell, and a laugh escaped him.
“That’s not how it works! It's more complicated than that but this is just one of my techniques that I use to defend myself.”
“That’s… pretty cool …”
“Does it satisfy your curiosity?”
“A little.”
Gojo felt you finally let go of him. He glanced down to stare at your hands which were slightly red. He winced at the sight, bringing his fingers to wrap around your wrist as his thumb circled the center of your palm.
“Did I hurt you?”
“No, this is from smacking the floor when I tripped.”
“Technically still my fault, I should have warned you that I was going to drop my infinity…”
“When I tried to push you it was the weirdest sensation. Like, I was touching something but feeling absolutely nothing at the same time. Has anyone ever broken it? Your infinity?”
“You forget I’m the strongest,” Gojo smugly replied, “nobody can touch me unless I want them to.”
You hummed to yourself but Gojo could see that you were lost in your own thoughts. You took his statement into consideration but he could tell you still had more questions you wanted to ask.
“Thank you for showing me,” you replied softly, choosing to let it go for now.
Your eyes locked onto his, your cheeks a little flushed when you realized how close your faces were to each other. Gojo could sense your pulse increasing, your chest rising and falling as seconds passed between you both.
Right now, all he could think about is kissing you.
His lips brushed yours, a breathless sigh escaping you as you broke the silence that hung in the air.
“ Maybe, we should order some dinner…” you suggested, your eyes shimmering with anticipation.
“That’s an idea,” Gojo murmured, his eyes from beneath his blindfold dropping to your lips.
“I was thinking maybe we can take away from that place-“
His lips locked onto yours, interrupting your thoughts as he gave in to his desire. His hands moved to your hips, tugging you forward against him so he was holding you closer. He bit your bottom lip, before licking it and sliding his tongue into your mouth. Completely entranced by what he was doing, he didn’t notice your hands trailing up his chest until it circled around his neck. This kiss was different, slow and passionate as Gojo took the time to explore your mouth. The taste of sugar dance across your tongues as he deepened the kiss, and he could feel himself getting hard as your chest rubbed against his. One of his hands snaked it’s way up behind your back, tangling his fingers in your hair. His other hand began lifting your tee from the front, sliding underneath it as he slowly began rubbing the flesh of your midriff. You broke away from him, taking a second to catch your breath as you pressed your forehead into his and hoping to calm things down before they escalate.
“We shouldn’t…we said we weren’t going too…”
“You’re right, we probably should stop…” Gojo agreed, but his lips spoke otherwise as he returned a kiss instead.
“ Satoru… ” you whined, but he could sense the heat between your legs as your hips naturally bucked into him. “We said we wouldn’t…not tonight..”
“Then tell me to stop.”
“What about the rules…”
“Tell me that you want me to stop, and we can go back to what we were doing.”
His lips trailed to your neck, where he nipped and sucked at your skin with every intention of leaving a mark.
You whimpered, tilting your head instead and giving Gojo better access to continue what he was doing. Your silence spoke volumes and gave him the consent he needed to continue.
“Rules were meant to be broken,” he whispered in your ear. “And tonight, sweet girl, you’re all mine …”

✨: "taste of heaven" pt.1
> collaboration with ma sweetheart @nateezfics 💕
> part 2 (here) on her blog!
kang yeosang (강여상)!
Tumblr media
you were born in the wrong place in your opinion. you never chose to be a princess. you never chose to have a high statute. you never chose to have this much duties. but you had to go through this. you had to live with this. you have to deal with this everyday. and everyday seemed to be the same for you. waking up every day at the same exact time. having everyday the same breakfast. having the same toilette every morning. and working on tasks the parents gave you, thinking you were able to achieve them as a princess. you could get some tasks about a tiny area in the country with problems to solve, or you could get task about servants' and maids' timetable. your parents got you very ambivalent.
but little did they know, you were tired about this. the only free time you could have were afternoons here and there. the rest of the time, your statute got you busy with different tasks.
you wanted a significant change. you wanted to be free. you wanted to escape in aim to live. you wanted and needed a whole another life.
the garden aback the castle was your way out. a place a little bit wild, way less tidy. the greenery was free to crawl everywhere. around a pond, there were water lilies, and different type of flowers and plants. the pond seemed to be wild with all those plants. and around this pond, there were stone benchs and arches. creepers were crawling around the different items in the place: on the bench legs and all around the arches.
the thick foliage of the trees was reducing the sun light in the place. the whole atmosphere was softer, the dim light was creating an atmosphere o so relaxing and almost romantic. spending time there was your favourite activity. you could focus on yourself, things which were important to you, and you could dream and breath.
today, you managed to have some time for yourself. you needed to be somewhere you felt secured in, and somewhere you could relax. somewhere you could take off your crown for hours.
today again, the sun was shining through the foliage, making the place look magic. few rays of sun were illuminating the pond and were reflected on the foliage above. the water, where the sun shone, looked like myriad of diamonds. the birds were chirping around you. the plants seemed to be a little bit greener with the few rays of sun.
it was a perfect place, at a perfect moment.
what you didn't know, a man was approaching.
he was your opposite : independant, even though he had duties, and free, even though he had a statute.
he was breathtaking: sharped jawline, plump lips, little nose, thin eyes with brilliant pupils, eyebrows decorating perfectly his forehead, and bangs falling gracefully on his forehead, giving him a slight of mystery.
his body was perfectly sculped: large shoulder, thin waist, developped chest, sharped collarbones, long legs. you could have said his body was sculped by Greek gods themselves.
but he was the actual god.
herald of gods, he was also a protector: merchants, human heralds, orators, travellers, but also thieves.
pacing up and down the whole world to deliver message was his main activity. he was excelling at it.
his footsteps got you out of your thoughts. you were fully aware of your surroundings to localise the person approaching as soon as possible.
from the corner of your eyes, you could distinguish his figure approaching yours. few rays of sun lit up his body. few of them also lit up his brilliant pupils on you.
“it's the very first time i'm seeing such a beautiful person here.”
his voice was soft. it was like a lullaby to your eyes.
you turned your head over him. his brilliant pupils were looking deep inside yours. his gaze seemed to be more precious than anything else. and the thin smile on his lips was adding more preciousness to his face.
as soon as your brain totally assimilated his beauty, your heart almost immediately reacted: it was beating so fast. you never felt this way before. you never felt your heart react this much to someone unknown to you
“really? aww, i'm sorry. but since this little place is behind the castle i live in and this place is owned by my parents.. i guess you can see me here pretty often.”
you offered this man your prettiest smile.
“oh, so i'm walking in a private area? oh, i'm sorry, i don't have any permission..”
you giggled, making you look even cuter in front of him.
     “i give you my permission.”
your eyes were glued in his. you couldn't look somewhere else. something was pulling you closer to him. and without you could even take the control over your brain, you were in front of him.
“i hope you're gonna use this permission wisely.~”
“may i offer you.. my company?”
you could blush at this precious look on your face. he was looking at you so tenderly. you could say he was as mesmerised by you as you were mesmerised by him.
     “this is a good answer.”
because of a breeze, your dress brushed his legs, and mixed up with his own clothes. few strands of your hair slowly flew, coming in front of your face. and the man in front of you didn't waist time to push them away your face, behind your ears.
the man then put a hand on your waist, and invite you to sit back on the bench. he was so gentle with you, and led you to the bench like a real gentleman. his hand on your waist, his gaze on your face, a smile on his lips.
he sat besides you, yet was facing you. he was admiring you, like you admire a deity. his own heart was beating irregularly. and just as you, he never lived something like that before.
     “who might you be?”
your voice was a little bit shaking because of shyness. you were looking down to the pond. yet this time, you were really blushing since you were feeling his sparkling gaze on you.
“i'm Yeosang. Kang Yeosang. i was supposed to pass by quickly for a mission but.. i don't wanna live now i know someone as stunning as you is here.”
     “a-a mission?”
his compliment got you stuttering, and going redder — he was indeed succumbing to you. you were even playing with your fingers. your heart was still beating fast.
“yes. i am gods' herald. but this message can wait, and will wait.”
Yeosang slightly tilted his head to the side. gently, he grabbed your chin and made you look straight into his eyes.
“and you? who are you?”
his pupils never left yours. the tenderness in his eyes was warming you up, and he soon felt like home to you: you didn't have to be shy anymore around him — plus, he was in the same estate, right?
     “princess y/n. Lee y/n.”
“does the princess believe in gods?”
Yeosang looked next to you, where you put down your crown. he took it, and gently put it back on the top of your head.
“now, she does. she has a god in front of her, how could she not believe in gods now?”
you were first looking at his eyes after he put the crown on your head, but your gaze eventually wandered over his face: his forehead, his nose, his cheekbones, his cheeks, and his plump lips. your gaze stayed there for a moment. and Yeosang noticed it.
“and does she want to kiss this god?”
“she's craving for it. but is this sensible?”
your eyes quickly went back to his pupils. the sun was shining over his face. his skin seemed to be smoother with the rays of sun.
“i've fallen for you, even though we just met. is this sensible?”
Yeosang softly grabbed your chin between his thumb and forefinger. he kept your face up, looking in your eyes. the birds weren't chirping anymore, and the whole place was quiet. it was as if the whole world stopped to look at you both.
“it's not. but i'm not trying to hold myself back. if my whole soul suddenly started to scream out your name, then i'm happy to say i'm not wise anymore. nothing is sensible now i've met you.”
“shut up and kiss me. it's a royal order.”
“what my princess wants, my princess gets.”
Yeosang softly leaned over your face. his lips gently touched yours. his lips moved against yours perfectly, as if both of your lips were meant to be against each other.
you slowly came closer to him, as if he was a magnet you were attracted to. your hand wandered over his thigh, and upper to his chest. your whole body was screaming his name out: the heart beating fastly, your skin getting hotter, the palms of your hands getting clammy.
but the kiss had to end. you — sadly — couldn't stay suspended to his lips for ever.
“if nothing of this is sensible, let's be unreasonable.”
your eyes were showing off distress, pleasure and love.
Yeosang was everything you wanted, needed, and had everything you were craving for — freedom. you wanted and needed to have him by your side. him, for what he was, and what he had, was what you had to have by your side.
“is this.. an another royal order, princess?”
his warm hands wrapped up your shoulders. but slowly, they were wandering down your arms to your hands.
     “it is. do it.”
slowly, Yeosang started to kiss your forehead. his kisses went down, again and again — your temple, your cheek, your jawline, your neck, and your collarbone.
the next moments would be animated.

your love lifts me up (when i’m down, down, down)
Hi friends! That season finale was absolutely insane and I am still not over it, but here’s a continuation of it because Hailey deserves better and because I love Upstead and hate Hank Voight. The title is from the song "Helium" by SIA. Enjoy and let me know what you think!
Read on AO3 and FFNet!
----------
your love lifts me up like helium
your love lifts me up when I'm down, down, down
when I've hit the ground
you’re all I need
‘cause your love lifts me up like helium
“I’m serious. Let’s get married.”
His immediate thought is complete and utter happiness as the words tumble from her lips and a smile quirks at the corner of his mouth, his eyes staring into hers with such love and affection.
His second thought is concern. Because as much as he may want to spend the rest of his life with the woman standing in front of him, she stands there with teary eyes and a familiar look on her face that reminds him of not too long ago that had him reassuring her he wasn’t going anywhere.
“What happened Hailey?” He finds himself asking.
“What do you mean?”
“You came in here seeming not like yourself and you just said we should get married. Not that I’m opposed to that with you, but it’s a little out of left field for you. You seem scared about something and it’s kinda freaking me out a little so just tell me what’s going on.”
“Nothing’s going on. I just - I just want you. I - I don’t wanna wait.”
He takes a fraction of a step toward her, squeezing her arms gently and looking at her with the same soft expression he always has for her. “Hailey, I would marry you tomorrow, right now, if that’s what I thought you really wanted, but there’s something that you’re not telling me. I can see it in your eyes. It’s all over your face. And normally I’d let it go and give you your space to figure out whatever it is that you need to figure out, but I’m really worried here so just tell me.”
She shakes her head, somehow able to hold back the tears she has in her eyes as she stares back at him. If she were being honest, she wasn’t expecting him to say yes, that they’d suddenly be engaged or running off to City Hall the next morning for some shotgun courtroom ceremony.
The way he looks at her tells her as much, that he won’t let it go, and she can’t blame him considering the bomb she just dropped on him, but she couldn’t help it. She’d been so deep inside her thoughts and reeling from the events of the day and the night. The thought of losing him snuck into her head far too quickly and sent her into a panic and she just blurted it out.
Maybe she should have thought this through a bit more before proposing to him on a whim in the middle of her living room. She’d surprised even herself as the words fell from her lips. The idea of marriage should terrify her given the fact that the only example of it she has is her parents. But the idea of marrying him, her partner, her best friend - it sends an undeniably wonderful ache through her, like she needs it. She needs him. She’s never needed anyone in her entire life. Not her parents or friends or ex-boyfriends and past lovers. But she needs him.
“I don’t know why I said it,” she breathes out then. “I just, I saw you standing there and I thought about Kim and everything that’s happened and I - I don’t know.“
“I think that’s only part of it,” he says quietly, carefully. “Tell me why else.”
She knows exactly why else. What else. Who else. And it sends another ache rushing through her, but this one goes straight to her stomach and she swallows back the feeling of needing to gag that rises at the back of her throat.
“Can we go see Kim first?” She asks suddenly.
“Hailey - “
“Please? Let’s go to the hospital and see how she’s doing, and then we can come back here and we’ll talk. I promise.”
She says it in one breath, hurried and eyes pleading. She just needs more time. Time with him before she tells him everything that happened. Before she loses the one thing that means everything to her.
“Okay,” he sighs before jutting his chin to the bathroom behind her. “You wanna take a shower and change first or just head over?”
Hailey nods, taking a step back. “Give me fifteen minutes. I’ll be quick.”
She pulls herself away from him and heads into her bedroom, his eyes following her with more worry than before as she closes the door behind her.
She takes a deep breath as she stands in the middle of her bedroom, trying to calm her too fast beating heart until her eyes land on a basket of laundry on the floor by the dresser. Her clothes, his clothes, mixed together. And then her eyes scour the rest of the room. A pair of his boots sitting on the floor beneath the window. One of his watches and a phone charger on the nightstand at the side of the bed. His side of the bed.
She shakes her head at the sight of all these things, his things, and pulls off her jacket. She tosses it to the bed before making her way into the bathroom and closes the door that leads out to the living room.
When she turns back around it’s only a few seconds before her heart seizes again as she glances to the sink. His toothbrush in the holder beside hers. A bottle of his cologne on the other side of the faucet, one of her favorite smells that is so distinctly him. She turns her head to the shower stall at the bottles of products that don’t belong to her.
He’s made himself at home in her space, engraved his presence in the place she had once kept so private and guarded. A space that had quickly become theirs.
She feels the tears burning in the corners of her eyes again and her bottom lip begins to tremble as she realizes this may be it. This may be the last time she sees their lives so intimately twined together and it breaks something inside of her. Cracks her open so quickly and makes the pool of tears spill over and fall down her face.
She wipes under her eyes with one hand and covers her mouth with the other, muffling the painful sob that falls out as she becomes overwhelmed with frustration and despair over the fact that she knows she won’t come back from this. Losing Jay. Losing them. She is sure he’s going to hate her. He’s going to become so disgusted with her, he’s going to leave when she tells him and she knows she can’t not tell him.
The only thing she can do is bask in denial and hold off the heartache that she’s sure will come for a few more hours. She can pretend that everything is fine, that she hasn’t crossed a line she can’t come back from despite being pulled across it involuntarily by her Sergeant. They can still be them for just a little while longer.
She turns on her heel and leaves the bathroom, wiping under her eyes again and grabbing her jacket from the bed before pulling open the door of her bedroom. Jay looks up at her from the couch, his phone in hand, and raises an eyebrow at her and the clothes she hasn’t changed out of yet.
“Let’s just go to the hospital now,” Hailey says, slipping her arms through the sleeves of her jacket again.
“You sure?”
She nods and forces a smile, stepping toward him and reaching a hand down to him.
“Okay,” Jay says with a shrug, taking her offered hand into his and standing from the couch.
They leave her apartment and make their way out to his truck, it not being lost on him the way her hand trembles in his or how she doesn’t let go until they separate to get into the cab. When they buckle themselves in, she reaches for his hand again over the console between them.
He wants to believe it’s just because of the events of the last few days. The case and Kim and the very real possibility that tonight could have gone a lot differently if he and Kevin hadn’t found their friend and colleague when they did.
He’s not that naive though. He knows something else happened. Something big enough to scare her into bringing up marriage even though he’s definitely not against it. It wouldn’t be the first time he’s had the thought of spending the rest of his life with her. He thinks about it often, but he knows there is something she’s keeping from him that she can’t find the words for right now so he won’t push her.
She said they’d talk later and he knows she needs more time to wrap her head around whatever it is that’s going on. He just holds onto her hand tightly and drives, glancing over at her every few minutes to see her staring out the window and lost in her own head.
When they get to Med and he throws the truck into park, she lets go of his hand only long enough for them to get out of the cab and for her to meet him at the hood. Her fingers twine with his once again and she holds on tightly to him.
Jay has passed the point of concern now as they enter the hospital through sliding glass doors, but Hailey still doesn’t let go of him, only holding on tighter as they walk down the corridors of the hospital. They ride the elevator in silence, huddled into a corner as it fills with staff and visitors, and Hailey lifts her other hand to place it on his arm just below his elbow. He can’t help leaning down and kissing the top of her head, pressing his lips to her hairline in a silent reminder of assurance to let her know he’s still with her.
They step off the elevator when the doors slide open a few moments later, hands still intertwined between them and Hailey’s hand holding his arm as they walk down the hallway together. When the pair rounds a corner they spot Kevin leaning against a nurse’s station, one hand tucked into the front of his vest and the other holding his phone up to his ear.
“How is she?” Hailey asks quietly as her and Jay approach him.
Kevin looks between them, his eyes glancing between their joined hands and their faces, and a soft knowing smile peeks out over his own. Because despite the horrors and the unknowns that surround them, at least there is some bit of happiness to hold onto.
“Hold up a sec bro,” Kevin says into the phone, holding it over his shoulder and then looking between the couple again. “She’s still in surgery, but they said she’s fighting, still holding on.”
“She’s been through a lot, but she’ll pull through this too. I know it,” Jay says and Hailey nods at his side in silent agreement.
“Y’all staying for a bit?” Kevin asks them.
“Yeah,” Hailey tells him. “We’re not going anywhere.”
Kevin nods and gestures to his phone. “I’m gonna head to Kim’s place. Take over for Ruze and watch Makayla so he can come down.”
“Sounds good man,” Jay says, lifting his free hand and clapping Kevin on the shoulder.
The officer gives Jay and Hailey one last look before he steps away, walking down the hall and lifting his phone back to his ear. They hear his quiet words of “I’m on my way to you” as he rounds the corner and then he’s gone.
Jay glances over at Hailey, her hold on him unwavering and the worry inside him growing heavier by the second, but he won’t bring it up here. He leads her to a small alcove of chairs and takes a seat, Hailey sitting down beside him, and he brings their joined hands to his lap and places his free hand over top of them. She leans her head against his shoulder, breathing out a quiet sigh that is quickly followed by a dragged out yawn.
He glances at her face to see her blinking slowly, fighting off exhaustion and whatever else is going through her head that he doesn’t yet know about, an unmistakable look of sadness etched across her face. He could tell she was crying when she came out of her bedroom earlier and all he wants is to ask her what is going on, but he knows he can’t do that in some hospital waiting room. They’re here for Kim. Anything and everything else can wait.
He leans down and kisses the top of her head again, hovering over her hair as he pulls back slowly, and whispers, “I love you.”
“I love you too,” she whispers back from beside him, squeezing his hand and his arm and not letting go.
Time moves slowly from there and Adam arrives almost forty minutes later, tears in his eyes and a disheveled mess of hair. He spots them quickly through the glass window of the alcove and walks toward them.
“Hey, any news?” He asks in a rush.
Jay shakes his head. “Before Kev left he said she was still in surgery, but we haven’t heard anything else yet.”
Adam nods slowly, pacing in a circle a few times before he finally takes a seat in the empty chair next to Hailey. He glances over at the half asleep blonde, smiling softly at the way she’s curled against her partner and clutching him with her hands.
“Is this a new development or - ?” Adam asks quietly, looking to Jay and nodding down to Hailey.
Jay smiles softly as he shakes his head and it makes Adam smile wider despite his own despair. “Well good for you guys then. It’s about damn time, man.”
“Yeah,” Jay mumbles softly, squeezing Hailey’s hand when she squeezes his fingers in her sleepy state.
Another twenty minutes pass in silence between the three until a nurse enters the alcove, a friendly look on her face.
“Are you here for the officer that was brought in? Kim Burgess?”
The two men nod and Hailey comes out of her sleepy haze at the sound of their friend’s name, looking up as the nurse smiles softly at them.
“She’s out of surgery. She’s stable right now, but still in critical condition. They’re transporting her to the ICU. Me or another nurse will come find you when you can see her.”
The nurse is gone as quickly as she appeared and they all breathe out a sigh of relief, Adam leaning forward with his elbows on his knees and his head lowering in front of him. They can tell by the way his shoulders heave that he’s crying as he holds his hands over his face, sniffling quietly beside them.
Hailey pulls her hand from Jay’s arm and places it on Adam’s shoulder, squeezing gently and then the dam breaks. All the worry and the anger and the not knowing where Kim was or if she was even still alive leaving the officer’s body through every sob that rips through him.
“Sounds like she’s gonna be okay,” Hailey whispers, giving his shoulder another squeeze and running her hand across his back.
He lets it all out in the safe space between him and his friends, and then lifts his head, pulling at the neckline of his shirt to wipe at his face. He stands a moment later, wiping at his face again and sniffling back his tears, and turns to face Hailey and Jay.
“Thank you,” Adam says quietly through teary eyes as he looks at Jay. “For finding her, for getting her here as fast as you did, for all of it.”
Jay nods and then Adam looks at Hailey. “And thank you for making me go home. For pulling me back from the ledge. You were right.”
Hailey smiles softly at him, nodding slowly and knowingly, as Adam breathes out another deep sigh of relief.
“I’m gonna call the others, Kev and Trudy and Voight. Let them know,” Adam tells them and Jay doesn’t miss the way Hailey flinches beside him at the mention of their Sergeant’s name.
He glances at her for a moment, but she doesn’t look at him, refusing to meet his eyes, so he looks back at Adam and gives a short nod. “You good man?”
“I will be. She’s out of surgery, still hanging on. That’s all that matters now,” Adam tells them. “It’s late. You guys go home and get some sleep. Kev’s with Makayla. I’m not leaving here anytime soon.”
“You sure man?” Jay asks, feeling Hailey stiffen beside him.
“Yeah, I’m sure. I’ll keep you guys updated.”
“When she wakes up, tell her we love her,” Hailey says quietly as her and Jay stand to their feet.
Adam assures them that he will with a small smile and a slow nod, and then they say their goodbyes. Hailey and Jay head out of the hospital, her hand never leaving his despite the way her body froze just moments ago and she holds onto him for near dear life in the same manner as when they first left her apartment.
When they arrive back at her place after another silent drive, Hailey kicks off her boots by the door and pulls off her jacket, tossing it over the back of the armchair as Jay does the same. She pulls her hair from its ponytail and tosses the hair tie on a side table, and when she turns to face him with tearful eyes he shakes his head at her.
Jay steps toward her slowly and looks directly at her, his eyes soft as always, but full of concern maybe more so than ever before. “What did he do Hailey?”
She lets out a deep breath and runs a hand through her hair. She knew she had given herself away in that damn alcove. Hearing Voight’s name had sent a chill through her as soon as she’d heard it and she just reacted. Out of instinct or fear or anger, she can’t be sure. She steps away from Jay and moves to the couch. She sits down and folds her legs up under her, resting her arms across her lap.
“He found Roy,” Hailey spills out through trembling lips. “He found him and he - “
She stops, shaking her head and keeping her eyes down at her hands as she picks at her nails, needing something else to focus on as she lays it all out.
Jay walks to the couch and sits down beside her, sitting sideways and facing her. He reaches an arm out toward her and rests a hand over her knee. “Hailey, what happened?”
“He gave me and Adam the locations for the knock and talks that were legit. He took the red flags. Adam had to take care of Makayla so I drove him to Kim’s apartment and went after Voight,” she speaks through a croaky voice as she looks up at him, having to force herself to do so despite the tears that pool in the corners of her eyes and blur her vision. “He - he was beating him. H-he had him cuffed. We had words and fought, I pushed him back. I convinced him to bring Roy in, that we found Kim and it was the right thing to do.”
Jay stares back at her, blood boiling and his heart pounding. He already knows how the story ends. The hand that doesn’t rest on Hailey’s knee shakes and he has to force himself not to ball it up in a fist out of anger for their Sergeant. He doesn’t wanna scare Hailey, so he squeezes her knee again gently instead.
“What happened after that?” He asks carefully.
“Voight went to uncuff him and Roy reached for his gun. He was gonna sh-shoot him and I just - it was a good shoot. It was a good shoot, but no one knew we were there. No one knew Voight was there. He went off book and didn’t call it in. He wouldn’t let me call it in.”
“Where’s Voight now?”
“I don’t know. He told me to leave. To go home and I just - I came here. I - I don’t - “ she’s shaking her head, tears falling from her eyes and her heart pounding in her chest, hands shaking.
“Hey, this isn’t on you,” Jay tells her immediately.
Hailey shakes her head again as she looks back at him. “I shot him. I killed him.”
“You did that because he was reaching for a gun. It’s completely justified.”
“But I was trying to be better! I was trying to be good!” She cries out. “Like you. I wanted to be better. I wanted to do it the right way.”
It’s him who shakes his head then, reaching for her shaking hands and holding them tightly between his, their knees touching as Hailey sniffles back more tears, but they just keep pouring out from her.
“You did it the right way, Hailey. You did all of it right.”
“I’m scared Jay,” she whispers, it’s so quiet he barely even hears her. “What if something happens? What if this comes back on me? I don’t wanna pull you into this. I don’t want you caught up in it. You’re too good.”
He’s shaking his head again as he tugs on her hands and pulls her toward him. He leans back and lies down on the couch, bringing her down on top of him and wraps his arms around her. One hand moves along her back and the other cradles her head against his chest. Her entire body shakes against his, sobs racking through her small frame as she cries out against him and grips his shirt tightly in her fists.
“I’m sorry,” she cries out, her words muffled against his chest as her tears soak through the fabric of his shirt, but he just tightens his hold on her and shushes her.
“It’s not your fault. We’ll figure it out. I’m right here and I’m not going anywhere,” he promises with hushed words and soft touches. “You hear me? You’re not in this alone. I’m not going anywhere.”
He holds her and reassures her until her sobs grow quiet and she hiccups through her tears as she lies on top of him, cradled between his legs and his arms. Their tight grips on one another don’t loosen as they lie on the couch, just holding onto each other.
As time passes and her cries die down, he can’t be sure if she’s just keeping quiet out of fear or panic, or if she’s cried herself to sleep. He runs a hand over the back of her head, his fingers weaving through her soft blonde hair. When he tilts his head to kiss her on the forehead, he notices her open eyes, red and puffy from the assault of tears and she blinks slowly as if she’s afraid to sleep.
“Let’s get you to bed,” he whispers, kissing the top of her head again.
He pushes himself up with one arm into a sitting position as he keeps the other around Hailey and she clings to him, almost too scared to let him go.
“I promise you, I’m not leaving,” he tells her again, his tone gentle, but firm as he brings a hand to the side of her face to look her in the eyes.
The sight he’s met with as he looks at her crushes him. Her teary eyes, blotchy face and trembling lips. He feels tears of his own form in his eyes at the way she sits all, but in his lap, looking completely deflated, unsure, just broken down and nothing like herself.
“Come on,” Jay coaxes softly.
He stands from the couch and pulls Hailey up to her feet, keeping an arm around her shoulders. She still clings to him, her arms snaking around his waist as he leads them toward the bedroom and he switches off the lights of the living room along the way. He brings her to the bed and sits her down, the look of nothing on her face gutting him. She’s completely shut down now. He helps her undress, stripping her down to just a t-shirt and underwear, and then tucks her into her side of the bed.
He dresses down quickly to just his boxers before rounding to the other side and crawling in beside her. She reaches for him within seconds, attaching her body to his and holding on tightly and relentlessly and he just holds her, shushing her again and kissing her hair, praying for sleep to come to her quickly so she can finally rest.
It’s late as Jay lies in bed still awake, unable to settle his racing mind. Hailey sleeps beside him, breathing softly and snoring lightly from all of the crying and emotions of the last few hours, but even in her restful state she still doesn’t let go of him.
He can’t sleep. Can’t stop thinking about what she had told him, what their Sergeant had done, and it makes his heart beat faster and the anger boil hotter as he glances down at Hailey. She doesn’t deserve this.
He peels her hands from his body slowly and carefully so he doesn’t wake her, and slips out of the bed. He pulls on his jeans and grabs a t-shirt, and then walks out of the bedroom. He heads for the kitchen and grabs a notepad and pen from the island to scrawl out a quick note for Hailey. He knows the chances of her waking up are high and he knows the thoughts she’ll have if she wakes up in bed alone with him nowhere to be found.
He creeps back into the bedroom and places the note on his pillow, then checks to make sure Hailey is still asleep before he walks out to the living room. He pulls on his jacket and his boots, grabs his phone and keys, and then he sneaks out of the apartment.
It’s three in the morning, but he doesn’t care as he rings the doorbell and takes a step back. He stuffs his shaking hands into the pockets of his jacket and stays planted on his feet where he stands, afraid if he takes the tiniest step forward he might start swinging the second the door opens and that’s a mess that neither he nor Hailey can afford to handle right now.
When the door opens, his Sergeant doesn’t seem too surprised to see him standing on his front porch, even at the late hour.
“What are you doing here Jay?” Voight asks gruffly.
Jay stares back at him for a single moment and then says, “If this comes back on Hailey, in any way, I’ll bury you.”
His voice is completely calm, neutral, but there’s a layer of ice in his words that even he doesn’t think he’s ever used before with anyone let alone his boss.
Voight tenses his jaw, staring back at the man in front of him and very quietly, he says, “It won’t.”
Jay shakes his head, shuffling on his feet. “You don’t know that, Hank. You don’t know that! Look at what happened with Erin. With Al. When Ruzek got arrested. Everyone who gets close to you, who tries to help you, they take the fall. Not you. And I’ll be damned if I let that happen to Hailey. You’re not gonna drag her down with you.”
His voice comes out cold, uncharacteristically menacing, and the look on his Sergeant’s face tells him his words have stuck and they have hurt and he’s a little proud of himself for it.
Jay throws another glare at the older man in front of him, shakes his head in disgust at him, and then turns around and walks back to his truck.
By the time he gets back to Hailey’s apartment, his hands have finally stopped shaking and his heartbeat has slowed. He creeps inside and closes the door behind him as softly as he can before turning the lock and taking off his boots and his jacket. He pulls his t-shirt over his head as he moves to the bedroom and slides off his jeans before he slips back into his side of the bed again.
Hailey reaches for him immediately, snuggling into his side and he wraps his arms around her as she drops her head to his shoulder. She breathes deeply against him and he can tell she’s awake.
“You saw my note?”
She nods against him as she moves an arm across his stomach and squeezes his side. “Where’d you go?”
“I had to do something,” he says cryptically and she squeezes his side again. “He’s not gonna pull you down with him.”
“Please tell me you didn’t hit him,” she says quietly, half-joking and worried.
“Not yet,” he tells her. “I just had some words for him.”
She doesn’t say anything, just tilts her head up at him and kisses his neck just under his jawline. He tightens his arms around her shoulder and her waist, and rests his chin over her head.
“It’s gonna be okay, Hailey. Whatever happens, I’m here. I’m not going anywhere,” he tells her again. Hoping his words will stick so she can fall back to sleep easily enough.
She reaches for his hand at her waist, weaves their fingers together and squeezes, then whispers, “I love you.”
“I love you,” he tells her, dropping a kiss to her hair as she snuggles closer against him and lets out a deep breath against him.
“I thought I was gonna lose you,” she admits a moment later amongst the silence. “I think that’s why I said what I said. The whole marriage thing.”
“You’re never gonna lose me, Hailey,” he says, breathing in and out against her hair. “That won’t ever happen.”
“I said it out of panic at first, but - but I do want it. I want that with you. I want everything with you,” she tells him and he squeezes her against him that much closer, smiling at her even though she can’t see it.
“I want everything with you too,” he says. “Except let me do the proposal okay? I’ll make it some big gesture with lots of planning and I’ll be a nervous wreck the entire time hoping you’ll say yes.”
She shakes her head against him. “I’d say yes over takeout on the couch. I’d say yes right now.”
“As tempting as that is at the moment, it’ll still be a surprise. And it’ll be a happy one. One you won’t see coming.”
She lifts her head and stares at him, smiling a tiny grin at him in the darkness of her bedroom despite her aching body and worried thoughts, through dried tears and a blotchy face, and then she leans up as he leans down. Their lips meet in the middle, pressing against one another softly, slowly, surely.
It’s an unspoken promise that is made in the safe space of her bedroom. Their bedroom. Their home. A promise of a future together filled with a proposal and a wedding and babies and everything in between. It’s a promise of a lifetime together.

Tumblr media
The California sun was beating down on Beacon Hills and its inhabitants, a feeling of peace and calm that was - by now - almost foreign in the city laid in the air and prompted the resident teenagers and young adults to enjoy a day away from school, stress and (for a very special group) life threatening situations. This particular group - the McCall pack, as they were known in the supernatural community of the city - decided to spend their free time on a very nice, but fairly unknown clearing in the beacon hill woods and for once being surrounded by these trees didn’t give them the vibe that one of them could probably die at any given moment. It was a rather nice change. “Uno,” Liam smiled as he slapped a +4 card onto the floor, making Mason groan and throw his head back. It was the third time in a row that Liam was winning and while it seemed to leave you completely cold it annoyed Mason to no end, but he couldn’t stop playing either until either you or him finally beat the wolf. While the three of you were sitting in your game circle, Malia, Lydia and Kira were lounging on a picnic blanket enjoying the sun and having their conversation. The only one who was sitting on the grass like a lost puppy was Stiles, phone in hand but seemingly not having the attention span to focus on it for more than five consecutive seconds. Originally he and Scott had been sitting there together talking about Lacrosse or girls or whatever the two of them talked about when they weren’t planning to save the city, but Scott had - after lots of pleading and begging on his betas part - disappeared into the direction of the city to buy some ice cream for everyone. “Y/N?” Liam shocked your shoulder and you had to shake your head to come back into reality and out of your thoughts. “Yes?” you looked at him with wide doe-eyes full of confusion. “It’s your turn.” “Oh, right, sorry, just lost in thoughts,” you smiled apologetically and shrugged before turning to your cards to think about your next move, not noticing how Liam and Mason exchanged a look. They had started to notice the change in your behaviour only recently. Your usual very cheery, always-seeing-the-best-in-everyone-and-everything self started to be stuck in your thoughts more often and your smile seemed just a little bit off lately. “Here you go,” you looked up again and put a +2 in front of Liam earning a quiet ‘Yessss’ from Mason at the prospect of finally beating his best friend, only to be sorely disappointed when a smirk immediately filled Liam’s face as he victoriously added his own - last - +2 card onto the pile, effectively winning the game and starting a rather useless discussion about whether the fact that the makers of Uno stated that putting a +2 on another +2 and making it a +4 wasn’t allowed counted anything. While Mason and Liam kept on blickering you pulled yourself up from the grass-floor and wandered over to the girls who welcomed you with kind smiles and made space for you on the blanket. As you sank down you were immediately pulled into Malias lap who hugged you into her and pressed her nose into your neck and y/h/l hair to smell you - a habit of hers that you had at first found more than disturbing but by now had gotten used to. In fact, the more time you spent with your not-quite-human friends and acquaintances, the more you noticed that they all had their own little versions of that, even though with Malia it was the most extreme since she was still the one running mostly on her basic instincts. At least that’s how Stiles explained it to you. He said that since you were logically seen the most vulnerable and ‘weak’ member of the pack their natural instincts where to protect and shield you from all dangers and make sure you are alright and - after your initial reaction of punching the hell out of Stiles’ shoulder in order to show him just how not-weak you were - you started registering it more and more. It was mostly very little things with Scott, Liam, Derek and in some situations (even though rarely) Peter like little hugs and giving you their clothes to scent you, pushing themselves in front of you in the face of even the most harmless of situations or the way they just sometimes randomly turned up at your house (this was mostly Scott, Liam and Malia though) to check if you’re okay even if they could just call. With Malia it was all that, but times ten in intensitivity. And the smelling. Malia herself wasn’t quite sure why, but she simply loved your natural scent. It always managed to calm her down. So you got used to her randomly smelling at you even if it did weird you out from time to time. Usually she would pull back after a few seconds, give you a happy smile and get back to what she was doing before like nothing happened, but this time when she drew back she looked at you displeased and confused. “Is something the matter?” you asked just as confused and now the other girls, who had gotten used to Malias antics and taken on the habit of just completely ignoring it in order not to get growled at, got curious as well and turned their attention towards you. “Something’s off,” Malia grumbled and scrunched her nose like she’s smelt something rotten. “Oi!” you scoffed and moved back a little, feign being offended, “Are you telling me I stink?” “No,” Malia sighed and rolled her eyes, “It’s not that, it’s just...your scent is- I don’t know how to put it really. Bitter? I think?” “What does that mean?” Lydia asked, her interest now seemingly spiked. “‘M not sure,” Malia shrugged and moved forward to take another good sniff at your hair, only for you to move your head back out of her reach and put your hands on her shoulders to keep her a distance away from you. “I think that’s quite enough,” you chuckled, but it sounded mechanical almost, “I appreciate the concern, but I don’t really think me smelling bitter means anything.” Noticing the way you held yourself defensive, something that you almost never did, all three of the girls wanted to investigate further, but you quickly moved off of Malia’s lap and stood up. “Oh look, there’s our ice cream,” you smiled as if nothing was happening and jogged over to your Alpha to help him. “This was weird, right? She’s acting weird, isn’t she?” Kira questioned and looked between the other two girls who nodded, “What’s that about?” “Not sure, but we gotta find out before the boys notice anything. Malia is bad enough already, but if the male wolfies find out we’ll have a real problem on our hands,” Lydia sighed and inspected you from afar.
After then the three of them noticed it far more often, the way you held yourself changed and your smile seemed to lessen by the day. By the time you started to fold into yourself and Malia said that your smell was getting more bitter, to the extent that she could smell it above almost everything else surrounding you, they knew that it had gotten out of their hands. They had to involve the others as much as they dreaded their reactions. As they had predicted Scott, Liam and - surprisingly enough for a human - Stiles didn’t react kindly to it, immediately planning to confront you. But in a turn of events, their thirst for actions and the girls rational thinking evened each other out and they decided on an approach that was reluctant enough to not scare you away, while also - hopefully - pushing you to tell them what was wrong. They wanted to do it in an environment that you felt comfortable in so they decided to go to your place, but that meant that they couldn’t all come, since they didn’t want to overwhelm you either. So, after a long and exhausting discussion, they decided that Stiles would be the one who’d go in first to make sure everything was clear and then give the others a heads up to follow. The Pack was standing - as inconspicuous as it was possible for a group of five - on the other side of the street your house was in as Stiles was walking down your driveway, welcomed by a cute door plate that had obviously been made my a little child and he was pretty safe in his assumption that you had been the one who had made it when you were younger. After taking a breath of reassurance Stiles raised his hand and knocked on the door. You must have been near the door already, because not even ten second later the door was tipped open and you stared at him with tired eyes, in your alien Pajamas with messy hair. If Stiles had not known better he would have assumed you had tried to sleep. “Who is it Honey?” He heard the voice of your mother scream, but the usual sweet voice he was used to hearing from her was strained and mixed with annoyance. “Uhm...It’s Stiles! My friend from school, he was here last month to study for my english exam, you remember?” “Oh, yes,” your mother walked out of the kitchen and into the hallway, “Hello Stiles.” Stiles returned the greeting, but his thoughts were more occupied by the state of your mother. Her hair looked unwashed and even more messy than yours, obviously not because of sleep, but rather because she hadn’t brushed it in a while, there were red stains under her eyes, the skin around it dry and strained, it didn’t take a genius to figure out that she must have cried - a lot - and her blouse was wrinkled, which he knew from their previous meetings and what you had told him about her would usually be a no-go for her. “Well, if you’ll excuse me,” she smiled, but it was tight-lipped and obviously forced, but before she disappeared into the kitchen again she looked at you, “Y/N, make it fast please.” You just nodded and turned back to Stiles. “Hey,” he said again, a little bit uncertain now, the situation having thrown him off of the plan he had made in his head on the way from the pack to the door. “Hi,” you said and he had to admit that you were definitely your mothers daughter by the way your forced smile perfectly resembled hers. “I wanted to talk to you, uhm, we - I mean me and the pack by that, well it started with Lydia, Malia and Kira, but anyways - we noticed that you’ve been...how do I put this correctly- well, I guess you’ve been off more lately and so we’ve been worried, because usually you smile a lot and you always make unfunny jokes and all that and now you don’t so-” Stiles rambled and just let everything flow out at once, probably would have continued to do so if you hadn’t held up your hand to stop him. “Not-Not here, okay? I’ll answer your questions, but not here. Let’s take this outside, please,” you shut Stiles up and took his arm to lead him out of your house and onto your porch where you sat down on the stairs leading onto your front law. For a while there was silence as Stiles found himself unsure of what to do next, but he could basically feel the piercing stares of his friends on him. After a few seconds of contemplating he sat down beside you, while still keeping a little bit of distance - just to make sure he wasn’t too overwhelming. “So…” “Yeah, so…” “Why...have you been so off?” Stiles asked but honestly couldn’t help but cringe a bit at how completely un-smooth he sounded. “I- It’s-” you tried multiple approaches, but stopped yourself every time, only to sink your face into your hands and sigh, “I’m sorry.” You raised your face again and looked at Stiles and he could see the sadness, this slight sense of despair. “Hey, it’s okay, don’t rush yourself,” Stiles tried to comfort you, “If you can’t tell me that’s okay, we’re just all very worried about you. We want to make sure that you’re okay.” “No, it’s fine, I- I think I actually wanted to tell you all for a while, but- I don’t really know, it’s just been hard for me… My parent’s have been going through some rough patches for the last few months and now my dad - he,” you stopped again and hugged your arms around you, Stiles couldn’t help but notice the glistening of tears in your eyes, “-He moved out two weeks ago. I mean, sure there were signs, it wasn’t working well by all means, but moving out? That was pretty shocking for my mom and me.” By now the tears had started rolling down your face and Stiles couldn’t hold back anymore. He moved closer to you and laid his arm around your shoulder to pull you into him. It seemed that the pack couldn’t hold back anymore either, because only a few seconds either Lydia was kneeling in front of you holding your hands, the rest also finding positions around you - hoping to give you as much comfort as possible. You gave them a wet chuckle, even though your tears didn’t stop flowing. “I could’ve guessed that you’re not far. I’m sorry for being a mess. “No, Don’t ever be sorry for feeling. We love you and that means that we’ll be there for you through the bad times just as we are in the good times,” Scott assured you and lovingly petted your head even though he knew that you always complained about how it made you feel like a little child or a puppy. “Thank you guys for being here - it’s just a lot right now. My mom is expecting me to be on her side, while my dad keeps expecting me to decide about where I’m going to live now. He wants me to move with him to New York into the city he grew up in, but I don't want to leave Beacon Hills. I have my whole life here, my school, you guys, my mom, literally everything, but I also don’t want to lose him- It’s just, I feel so torn and it seems like every choice I could take would be the wrong one,” you were full on sobbing at that point, but it was clear enough for your friends to understand you. “Hey, It’s okay,” Lydia tried to calm you down, “I know that this seems like an impossible choice, but I can assure you we will find a way. We’ve defeated some of the greatest evils that the world has seen and we were successful. We’ll be just as successful with this, okay?” You started nodding and for the first time in a while you were actually feeling just a little bit like yourself again, a sliver of home filling your heart at all your friends who were by your side and supporting you. “Lydia’s right,” Scott agreed. “There’s one thing I gotta ask though,” Liam started and before anyone else with a little more sense of sensibility could stop him asked: “Why didn’t you tell us before? I mean we’re you’re best friends ri-” At that moment Mason basically threw himself at him and put his hand in front of his mouth to shut him up. “You don’t have to answer that,” Kira assured you, but you just shook your head. “No, it’s fine, I get why he asked. I- I guess I just thought - it’s like Lydia said, we fight evil on a weekly base, we have to worry about so much more serious things than my stupid family drama.” “Now listen to me,” Lydia spoke up in her I-will-take-no-talkbacks-voice and looked at your sternly, “This is not stupid and it is by no means less imporant than anything else we do, okay? Maybe it’s not life-threatening or supernatural, but it is still hurting you and as friends we can’t let anything hurt our favorite human, can we now?” And in that moment everything was okay again - if only for just a few seconds - with your friends by your side and Stiles yelp of protest, because he insisted that he was at least Scott’s favorite human, - earning himself a look from Scott that told him that what Lydia said also applied to him - even made you laugh your normal laugh again. And so, when Malia finally got close enough to you with all your friends surrounding you to smell your scent, she found that your normal, sweet scent was finally returning again, and even though there was still a bitter undertone to it she now was sure that it would soon be back to her favorite scent again.

Chapter 2: The Blacksmith
A/N: Hello friends! Chapter 2 is here and ready for your enjoyment. And to any Dami stans, this is for you in particular.
Warning’s: Mentions of public execution, alcohol usage, historical inaccuracy
The looming uncertainty that came with the hushed conversation had you overthinking as you made you way to the Blacksmiths.
That is until you came face to face with the stranger working within its darkened walls.
<- Chapter 1
Tumblr media
The evening sun was warm when it caressed your skin as you made your way out of the Kim household, but its pleasantness was lost to you.
The conversation between Lord Kim and the captain loomed over your mind for reasons unknown to you, and the uncertainty made your heart feel heavy from where it sat in your chest.
It was probably nothing, you tried to reason with yourself because of course, the wealthier families had better protection from the military that was occupied on the island. But it was rare to have a meeting with the captain unless there was a serious situation going on.
Questions filled your mind, and while it wasn’t your place to know the secrets of another family, let alone the one you were working for, it still didn’t stop the heated mix of dread and curiousness that filled your mind with possibilities. None of them was accompanied by any hint of optimism.
Right now though, none of that mattered. If the orders hadn’t been given to prepare for any kind of imminent threat, then surely whatever it was they could have been talking about wasn’t as serious as perhaps you were thinking it to be.
You kept telling that to yourself as you made your way towards the centre square of the settlement. Your eyes darting away from the wooden structure that stood disturbingly proud against the setting sun.
You had never dared see it in action, and you hoped you never will.
There was only a single Blacksmith on the island, and while you had never needed to go there in the past, you had heard the usual sounds of fire and metal against metal as you’ve walked passed it. The frequent smell of smoke seemed to be embedded within the structure of the very building.
It had its own little place huddled into the corner of the street, the sign hanging above the entrance squeaking with each movement made by the breeze.
It was only on instinct that you knocked upon entering, your eyes instantly narrowing to accommodate the sudden dimness of the inside. The glow of the dying fire casting many shadows of the equipment that hung on the surrounding walls.
“Hello?” You call out when there is no immediate sign of life, and when your response comes in the form of a drawn-out snore from a drunken man sitting just around the corner, you blink. The discoloured bottle that you assumed had been full moments before was now lying on the ground beside him, the smell from within easily matching the stench also emanating from his open mouth.
Your nose crinkles slightly at both the sight and the odour, but the sound of oncoming footprints easily steals your attention seconds after.
“May I help you with something?”
Your mouth is already open to respond before you fully turn around, but whatever words were about to escape its confines are left lodged in your throat when your eyes meet the new arrival.
Her hair is short, falling just above her shoulders, and whatever loose bits that lay within have been pulled back around the sides of her head and tied at the back.
Her eyes are gentle but guarded as they look into your own, and you can feel the colour rush to your cheeks when she lifts a single eyebrow at your lack of answer given.
The expectant expression she adorns is enough to snap whatever ever trance just fell upon you, and you avert your eyes in embarrassment because of your behaviour. “I came here to collect a package for Lord Kim.”
The woman keeps her eyes on you for a moment longer, probably trying to guess if you were lying or not before she silently walks back the way she first arrived.
You feel the air force its way out of your lungs when she turns away, and you relax the muscles you hadn't even realised you were tensing in the first place.
Awkwardness fills the humid air, and you find yourself snapping your interest to the many pieces of equipment that lay around the threshold. Hammers, swords and tongs held in place on wooden beams; the anvil waiting patiently for its next purpose just out of the way.
The fire pit is scorched black from its constant use, the crackling embers still going strong despite having no more wood to fuel it.
Your eyes pull away from the orange glow when the woman returns; a wooden box held securely in both of her hands.
Her eyes once again leave you paralysed, and your arms look like they are being lifted by pulleys when they reach for the box as she hands it to you.
"Here," she says as she passes it on, and you refuse the urge to close your eyes when her deep voice washes over you. Its subtle husk reminds you of the crackle of the fire behind you.
Warm.
The wood is smooth against your skin, and your quick glance at it reveals the Kim's family insignia engraved onto its surface.
"Thank you. . ." You look back up as you trail off, and the woman hesitates for but only a second.
"Yubin," she whispers like it's a secret, "Lee Yubin."
- - - - - - - - - - ☆ - - - - - - - - - -
The sun is fully set by the time you make it back outside, but due to the darkness from the building, your eyes don't need time to adjust before you take off into the empty streets and back to the Kim household.
Lamps and torches light some of the way as you walk, and the guards stationed at some of the more important shops don't even bat an eye as you pass; their uniforms standing out against the browns and greys of the building they were 'protecting.'
The slope leading towards the wealthier part of town is the darkest part of the journey, and you almost let loose a cry when a patrolling guard suddenly appears right in front of you.
"State your business."
Her voice is firm yet husky, but its pleasantness is lost on you as you stammer out your response.
"I've been sent by Lord Kim to collect and deliver a package, I'm just on my way to give it to him."
Her eyes seem to bore into your very soul as she searches you with them, their brown shine flickering from your eyes to the box still in your grasp.
"Move on," she nods after a moments pause, and you quickly nod before scurrying away before she can interrogate you any further.
"That was weird," you mumble to yourself when you think the guard is no longer within earshot, bringing the box closer to your chest when a cold gust of wind brings forth a shiver.
Nights on the island were no place for someone like you, and so you will your legs to move at a faster pace as you debate the option of staying in the Staff quarters for the night and returning home the following evening.
The warmth from the master fireplace is what helps you make up your mind, its welcoming embrace against your bumpy skin leaving you feeling the ache in your muscles as you search for the Master of the house. Your eyes catching his hunched form from his position at his desk that sits in front of the open door to his study.
You tentatively knock when you approach, bowing when his head snaps up to you. "I have your package, sir."
"Ah," he blinks, taking a quick interest with the large clock placed in the corner of the room before he stands and makes his way over to you. "Thank you."
He graciously takes the box from you with a curt nod before pausing to eye you properly, "did you look inside?"
"No, sir," you reply straight away, the thought to do so not even occurring to you even once.
(After all, you had been too distracted by the woman giving it to you.)
"Good," he relaxes at your words, "that will be all for tonight, you're services have been much appreciated."
The compliment leaves you slightly stricken, and you hope it doesn't show in your eyes as you bow once again, "thank you, sir."
With that, you turn to leave, but his voice stops you just before you make it through the doorway.
"Oh, and Y/N? I might need you to collect some more things come the next few weeks."
- - - - - - - - - - ☆ - - - - - - - - - -
True to his words, you had been sent to collect more deliveries. Some were generic like letters and certain ingredients he uses in his medicine, but there were some that had you wondering what this was all for.
You didn't know what they were exactly, but it was those deliveries where he would once again ask if you had looked at the contents, and each time you would truthfully deny it despite your curiosity and unease building every time it happened.
The constant back and forth between the main part of the settlement and the Kim household also meant that you didn't get to see Minji much.
The noblewoman also seemed to be busy these days, but on rare occasions you would cross paths in the hallways, her eyes seeming to lighten up each time she saw you.
It made you feel unbelievable happy, seeing how excited she was to see you, but it also made you feel uncertain as to why she was. You hadn't interacted at all since the trip into the village, what seemed to be a growing bond now put on hold with the lack of time spent with one another.
It's not like the deliveries bothered you, after all, it was one of the many chores you were instructed on during your first day here, but seeing less of Minji left you feeling. . . Down. Like there was a large dark cloud covering the sun that usually provided you with tremendous warmth.
It was a strange concept to you, missing someone. After all for your entire life, the only people you had grown up around were your parents, and you still lived with them.
Minji was the very first person who you could consider a friend, or even just another human who had the beginnings of becoming one.
“Y/N.”
Lord Kims’ voice catches your attention just as you exit the staff entrance and into the main foyer, his wide steps meaning he is in front of you within seconds.
“Yes, sir?” You are already beginning to wonder where he is going to send you today, or even if any of the other members of staff working for him have received as many deliveries as you have.
“I need you to give this to Blacksmith,” he states while fetching a rolled-up piece of paper from his inside pocket, handing it to you but not letting it go. Eyes serious as he looks straight into yours, “this is an important message, so I want you to deliver it right away.”
Not currently being able to bow with the position you were in, you nod your head, “of course, sir.”
He seems contemptuous with your answer and promptly lets go of the paper so you can tuck it into the inside of your worn-out tunic. Wrapping your arms around it for extra support.
With one last nod to each other, you sneak back out of the entrance and begin walking the path that had become very familiar the past week or so. The barely held together leather of your shoes making little noise on its dusty surface.
You hadn’t returned to the Blacksmith since your first visit, but the woman hiding within its darkness had appeared in your mind from time to time. The thin layer of sweat on her skin, or the toned muscle in her forearms as she handed you the box were only two of the many things that would appear when you least expected it to.
She reminded you of the embers of a dying fire; calm yet still just as dangerous.
But unlike the last time, you wouldn’t be entering nearer sunset, and the crowd of people in front of you makes you remember why you didn’t venture into the square during this time of day.
You’re too slow when averting your eyes this time, and you can feel the insides of your stomach churn when the sound of the hatch door opening echoes across the threshold and imbeds itself into the darkest places within your mind.
Your eyes don’t leave the ground as you rush to leave that place, the casual conversation of on-lookers nothing but background noise since your heart had broken free from the confines of your chest and had lodged itself in your throat; its deep pulse seeming to vibrate your eardrums.
That was horrible, well and truly.
Your nauseous state hasn’t receded by the time you reach the Smithy, and it is with a trembling hand that you open the door -- too in shock to even think of knocking this time.
Yubin is mid-swing when she looks up at you, the hammer in her hand ready to be brought back down onto what seemed to be a sword, but you were too busy fumbling for the parchment hidden away to get a better look.
“M-my --,” you close your eyes and suck in a deep breath through your nose when your words come out as a stuttered jumble, the scorching air of the Blacksmith doing very little with helping you to calm yourself.
Even within the darkness, Yubin can see the deathly paleness of your skin, and she silently exits before returning with an unopened bottle that looks scarcely familiar to the one the drunken man had been sleeping by the last time you visited.
“This is the cleanest thing we have to drink,” she admits as you wearily eye the bottle, “but you look like you need it.”
As tempting as it is, the thought of returning to Lord Kim with the smell of alcohol on your breath doesn’t sound like it would end well. “No, thank you,” you manage after another deep intake of air. Your hand is no longer trembling as you give the parchment over to her and continue what you had attempted to say, “my lord asked me to give you this.”
Yubin’s free hand reaches out for the paper, but her eyes stay on your face as she takes it. Her searching gaze makes you feel exposed under its scrutiny.
“Your name,” she suddenly blurts out, and you blink back your shock,
“Pardon?”
She seems to realise her mistake as soon as it leaves her mouth, and you’re intrigued when a reddish hue appears on her sweaty skin, “I’m sorry, that came out all wrong. I just meant that I didn't know your name.”
Despite yourself and the situation you had experienced before arriving, you find yourself quite charmed by her blunder. Enough for a small smile to appear on your lips. “That’s alright, it was my fault for not introducing myself in the first place. My name is Y/N.”
“Y/N,” Yubin repeats, and your smile widens when she nods as if she it makes some sort of sense.
It is then she finally puts down the alcohol bottle, her nimble fingers undoing the parchment before moving closer to the fire so she can better see the cursive writing laid out on its surface.
Just by the way she spoke, you knew that Yubin must’ve had some sort of education during her life, and the fact she seems to be fine reading Lord Kim’s excelled wording further proves that.
It doesn't take her long to finish the letter, and when she does she turns back to you with an expression hard to decipher.
“Is everything alright?”
You know it’s not in any of your business to ask, but the dread that has taken up residence within your chest only continues to grow with each unusual occurrence.
Yubin shakes her head at your question, “if you have not been told anything, then I must do the same.”
Despite her words, there is an attempted smile to ease your worries and you would be lying through your teeth if you didn’t admit that it slightly worked.
“I know,” you sigh out, wishing that the explanation behind all of the deliveries was anything but serious and threatening. The unknown hanging heavy over your head just like --
You close your eyes once again as your torturous mind recounts what you saw, and this time Yubin seems concerned when she takes notice. “Forgive me if I’m pushing. . .”
She hesitates, but the question is there within the silence.
What happened?
“It’s nothing,” you try to brush off, but the look in Yubin’s eyes has you spilling the rest before you even knew it, “it’s -- I just -- I went through the square when coming here and --”
You can’t get the rest out, but what you did manage to say is enough for Yubin to catch on. “It was noon,” is all she says, and you helplessly nod along.
Hesitation enters her eyes, and you are unsure of what she is going to do until a calloused hand finds itself perched in your shoulder, the gentle pressure like an anchor keeping you in the present.
Her touch wasn’t like Minji’s you conclude; it didn’t pleasantly scorch your skin and leave you wanting more, but it melted you. Made you feel calm despite the turmoil raging havoc within your mind and your heart.
No more words are said between you apart from her response to Lord Kim’s message; a simple, “it will be done in a day or two,” but you do feel better when you re-enter the world. The earlier nausea and shock simmered down for the time being.
You stay completely away from the square on your way back, but just as you take the first steps onto the slope, a somewhat familiar voice stops you where you stand.
“You there, wait.”
Your eyes widen when you recognise the guard from the night you walked back after your first visit from the Blacksmith; her piercing gaze keeping you rooted on the spot.
“You need to come with me.”

✴Twisted Wonderland Theory: Overblots and their Disney Villain Opposites✴
Tumblr media
I came to a realization just before I went to sleep last night. All of the people who Overblot are the direct opposites of those whose "souls" they supposedly have.
Although Riddle is like the Queen of Hearts and follows rules very strictly, it is not him who originally made them. He also does not truly seem to wish to do such things, but that is all he knows. So, that seems like it is all he can do.
Leona has the vast intelligence and power of Scar in spades. But unlike Leona, Scar was always consistently moving forward within his goal. He was always seen lurking about somewhere or planting little seeds of doubt in Simba there. He just kept on moving. The only time he actually stopped to "loaf around" a bit was when he won. Leona doesn't have any hope too much in terms of ever winning anything, so he just doesnt even try to apply himself.
Azul has the stage presence of Ursula, alright. But you would never see Ursula get that emotional or anything at all, would you? Especially not basically reveal her plan and what all she had done that quickly. Ursula was secluded because she was banished by Triton for unknown reasons (although widely assumed to be racially based). Azul was secluded both due to his rather shy nature as a child and because of how he looked.
It is unknown how Jafar came to be the royal vizier in the first place, although it was possibly as a long placed cover to ensure that he got his hands on the magic lamp. Jamil, however, was practically forced into his own position by his family being "slaves" and whatnot. Jafar was rather outright in what he wished, but the plans came from his sidekick, Iago. Jamil had no loveable parrot sidekick, so he came up with everything himself. Jafar's plan seemed to take only a matter of days, Jamil's intense planning most likely took years.
The Evil Queen has been known for her cruelty in the kingdom- as it is often told and retold that she actually poisoned and murdered her second husband- Snow White's father- just to become the queen of the lands. She sought to be the most beautiful by any means necessary and had little to no qualms about her actions. Vil, however, is- you guessed it! The opposite. Vil believes that through nothing but hard work and determination that you can be the best you can be/beautiful- otherwise, he would have most likely searched for a Siren-esque spell to make himself the most beautiful. Vil immediately began to realize just what he had done and retreated within himself, overloading his brain with that negative energy needed for the Overblot. The Evil Queen would have simply cursed the little ragtag group from the get go.
So, my current standing theory, taking all of this into account, is this for both Idia and Malleus:
Hades was fueled by his desire to move up and be the lone God running the show, since he worked the hardest amongst any of the others. He plotted and schemed for years and years until the planets were in alignment for his "shot" with the help of the Fates. Hades, in the end, didn't really care about Megara- the "Haha she sexy" girl that we all know and love today. She was the ends to meet the means in a way, and he probably would have either just let her go because he didn't care anymore or just put her back down in the Underworld. I believe Idia will be the opposite. He will try to move up to the pinnacle of the Olympus company with his truly stunning inventions and wow everybody thanks to encouragement from both Ortho and most likely our ragtag 1st year group. But Idia's own love and compassion for his brother will be what causes him to flip out, Overblot, and eventually put a halt to his plans.
Little to nothing was known about Maleficent within the original film- that is certain. But I have been paying attention, and I am seeing some mixed elements from both the Maleficent in the "original" Sleeping Beauty and the Maleficent from her standalone film- Maleficent. While I am not as confident about this as I am with Idia, this seems to be where my brain is leading me. The second Magift tournament shall be held with the Diasomnia arc- not the Ignihyde arc like everybody is assuming, for some reason. Why, you ask? Because the basis for over half of the plot for Chapter 2 was that the Diasomnia Dorm was the best and greatest in Night Raven College at Magift. This is literally going to be the biggest event of the year, as they are going against Royal Sword Academy again. I am suspecting that something will occur with Grim's now "normal" behavior seemingly growing worse (given that I am assuming that he shall suddenly revert back to 'normal' in the next chapter) and it will worsen. Malleus will somehow not be invited either to the event of the Magift tournament itself- or the after party. Maleficent within the original Sleeping Beauty film had no love. No compassion. She wasn't named the Mistress Of All Evil for no reason. But, as we have seen with Malleus, he is quite the opposite. The MC/Yuu will wind up possibly getting cursed by something by mistake, and the love that he has for "us" will really shine through. With the Mirror Hall most likely already ruined from his sheer outrage, his Overblot will finish and he shall be the one to wake us after we successfully view his backstory. This will already set up the ruined and recently horrendous stage for Grim to snap, take the final Blot stone, and Overblot himself.
((Hey hey, my lovely Readers! I truly hope you all enjoyed that wild ride of a theory of mine! Let me know what you think, and we shall see in due time whether my brain is headed in the right direction or not! 💖🔮

Tom is already rehashing some things, like too many homages to the nineties run, Zucco's daughter plot point, Beatrice had ideas for societal reform he's taking that and giving it to Dick. It'll probably be half hearted, but it stings that Beatrice left just a few issues ago and she's already completely forgotten for the sake of DickBabs or a love triangle.
Like the thing about the nineties runs is I mean, as much flack as we give various elements of them, there’s so much from that time period that was good? Great, even! Just....myself and the writers seem to have very different opinions on what the most interesting elements of the nineties comics were, oh well.
And omgggggg I’m still so mad about Bea, and its literally Shawn Tsang all over again. The writers keep introducing new, interesting characters, investing just enough time and focus into them to have us interested in them and wanting to see more.....and then they toss them aside to go back to drawing from the same well as always.
And the thing is, this isn’t even about me not really being a Dick/Babs shipper, because honestly, I’m not enjoying the Dick/Kory stuff in what I’ve seen of Titans Academy either, and for the exact same reason:
When they create new characters like Shawn and Bea, they KNOW they’re starting from scratch and need to build interest in those characters from the ground up. So they’re forced to put their best foot forward. There’s no short cut there, if you want people to care about a brand new character you have to give them REASONS to care. You have to make those characters likable, you have to make people WANT to root for them, you have to hook them with intriguing backstories that don’t feel formulaic and new angles that don’t feel just derivative of older characters, and that’s how we got stuff like Shawn’s history as a former sidekick to a villain and now running a support group for rogues trying to turn their lives around, and Bea’s work in societal reform.
But then the second they stop having the patience to build the new characters up enough that the interest in them can actually start to reach the levels that lets older characters last and grants longevity....they just toss them aside and move on....except they never really move on, just backwards. Because the problem with so MANY superhero couples, far from just Dick and Babs or Dick and Kory, is just....how lazy it seems to make so many canon writers. They just fall back on rehashing the same old tropes and just updating popular moments that resonated with fans in the past, now just recreated with a slightly more modern twist but without ever really being anything new.
Even with ships that I’ve never really been sold on in the past like Dick/Babs, I’ve always said, there’s usually nothing stopping me from GAINING interest in them.....its just....the writers have to GIVE ME A REASON TO. And so many of DC’s writers just aren’t even trying. They’re just moving parts around and pushing characters together in various arrangements like everyone’s just a puzzle piece that you can mix and match however you want......and then just basically expecting readers to be interested purely because of who the characters are, or because it hinges on a nice moment that they then milk the hell out of without ever expanding that into building actual STORY around these moments but rather just squeezing each one til they get everything they possibly can out of it and moving on to the next as though its all just about chasing the next soundbite...because it is! LOL.
And honestly, this problem extends far beyond just the Nightwing title or the Batfam or Taylor’s run or writing in particular.....its a company wide issue right now. In fact I would bet just about anything that its a matter of editorial edict, that even before Taylor started his run DC said okay here’s the approach we want everyone taking with their stories right now:
And that’s like.....its all about banking on nostalgia and the comfort of the familiar right now. I think Taylor is drawing all these elements straight from the 90s Nightwing comics, like Blockbuster and Dick having been a cop, etc, because these are the elements of past Nightwing stories that are so well known. Its the same reasoning behind why they put Tim back as Robin and so many of their new characters are just new spins on old faves like Punchline and Harley Quinn, and why they’re pushing all these older ships that haven’t been together in ages and why specific team lineups are reappearing....its because nostalgia is the name of the game for DC right now, and all their writers are just pulling together threads of classic stories that have stood the test of time, figuring anything that landed particularly well with fans in the past will sell with people here and now, and weaving these threads together and brushing over them with a modern social issues veneer.
As an approach, its basically all just about repackaging previously successful story moments and elements with just enough changes or in just new enough a configuration that readers aren’t likely to complain en masse that like “hey we literally already read all this. We’ve already BOUGHT these issues. When we were kids.” Its minimizing creative risk while maximizing monetary profit. Spend as little creative capital as possible outside of anything that’s already been successful in the past and as such is a relatively proven quantity, instead of testing new material that’s an unknown and runs the risk of falling flat and thus not being profitable.
And see, I’d almost guarantee that all THAT, that whole line-wide approach to DC’s storytelling, is because the powers that be looked at the last several years of stories and how many of THEM fell flat with readers, and decided that the problem was they’d BEEN trying too much new stuff and readers just didn’t like it. Because they WERE concentrating on presenting totally new stories and building up new ideas throughout their books.....but readers have been pretty vocal for years now about being disenchanted with most of DC’s major stories. And so DC I think looked at that and came to the conclusion that okay, people just don’t want new right now, they want the familiar.
But like.....DC’s problem IMO was never that they were trying new stuff? The reason so much of their new and original storylines weren’t gaining traction or bringing in readers and kept shedding old readers had absolutely NOTHING to do with them being new and previously unseen storylines, which makes falling back on nostalgia very much a non-solution to entirely the wrong problem.
No, DC’s problem for years has been that they’ve been all about spectacle instead of story. There’s ZERO emotional pay-off to any of their biggest plot twists or character beats, and emotion is LITERALLY what people read stories for. Its all about racing to the climactic action packed finish of every storyline and then immediately resetting everyone back to square one and jumping straight into the next big story, without ever giving the events of any of their stories time or reason to MATTER to the characters.....and if they don’t matter to the characters, our proxies that we’re viewing these stories through, then why should any of it matter to us? Why should any of it linger, dig in roots, resonate with us as moments that left an impact and that we accordingly want more of?
And again, like because I’m a Dick Grayson focused blog I’ve obviously largely been focused on how much I dislike the SPECIFIC reactions or non-reactions to so many of the major beats in his stories.....but it was spread throughout their entire line.
Bruce and Selina almost got married....but why should anyone care outside of Tom King’s title when nobody else seems to, no other characters feel anything about this, and Bruce in none of his other appearances seems the same as ever without any reminder that he just almost got married but then didn’t.....and if the characters don’t ever seem to be affected by or feeling a need to revisit or reflect on recent stories, why should we bother remembering them either?
Jason was dramatically and fucked-upily (yes its a word, I totally looked it up and everything) exiled from Gotham....and then all of that is undone in a single issue with one low-stakes awkward conversation between him and Bruce. Damian quits as Robin and goes off the map and everyone in his family is like “hey don’t we have a littler brother, I feel like we did maybe” for one panel per story arc, and that’s it. Roy’s back from the dead and everybody’s like oh hey cool instead of the kind of return we used to get like when Donna came back and everyone was like oh shit, this MATTERS, because we MISSED you....just like Dick’s death never mattered to anyone but fans of his character because much like I was just saying earlier with them not really giving me a reason TO emotionally invest in Dick and Babs’ relationship if I wasn’t already, same thing with the aftermath of Forever Evil. They didn’t give anyone else reason to emotionally invest in that as something that HAPPENED to Dick and that he was AFFECTED by....because the writers didn’t bother writing him as all that affected by it and it was just like oh he’s a spy now, all that was last year’s content, we’ve moved on, keep up.
And on and on it goes. Ric Grayson was the same problem all over again. Rinse and repeat down the line with everyone from Wally to Donna and etc etc etc.
THAT’S why DC’s stories have been falling flat. It has nothing to do with people not being interested in new ideas, characters or directions, its that’s ALL they were giving us, but it was like just reading wiki summaries of events just alongside pretty art, but no real emotional weight or substance to anything we were reading....and thus, literally nothing that we couldn’t get much the same outcome from if we just...stuck to reading wiki summaries after the stories were over, with no real need to follow along with them. For years most fans have basically just been about keeping up to date with changes in the characters’ lives, but without feeling any real need to watch those changes unfold and play out.
And so honestly I worry we’re just gonna be subjected to a company wide rehashing of old and familiar storylines, directions and character beats, but repackaged and delivered in the exact same way DC was delivering us their new stories and ideas these past years....and its basically going to have the same results, because its the same problem. They didn’t actually fix anything by switching gears, they just shuffled around the actual issue.
And DC’s just gonna be like well now wtf are we doing wrong, we were so sure this would work, everyone LOVES nostalgia right? Did we pick the wrong stories and character beats to bring back?
When really its like......it honestly doesn’t matter WHICH stories and beats they rehash, because its not about them picking the ‘right ones,’ the real keepers, the stories that everyone really WAS eager to see brought back or made new again.....
Its about like, the only reason any of those stories or beats or dynamics stood the test of time and are still familiar and well-known....is because the stories AROUND those moments and ideas gave us reason to emotionally invest in them and retain them as crucial to our view of the characters and things that would resonate and stay with us for a long time.
It was never that any of those ideas or stories were just so innately brilliant that they couldn’t help BUT linger in the overall reader consciousness...it was the fact that we CARED about what happened in those moments and stories.
*Shrugs* But I mean hey, what do I know? I’m just a dude on the internet lolol.

🎃 Halloween Special 🎃 (Draco Malfoy x Reader)
Warnings: none, according to me
Summary: It’s your fifth year at Hogwarts and you decide to change things up a little bit by making a mix between muggle and magical traditions in Halloween.
A/N: Hellooooo, lovelies! I know it's been ages since the last time I posted any of my writings, but I got this idea the other day and I just couldn't let it die in my drafts. It's my first time writing for Draco, so if there's any mistake or stuff way too out of character, please, have mercy on me... 😔🙏 I love you and I really hope you enjoy it! Happy Halloween! :) <3
Tumblr media
October was finally coming to its end and Halloween was just around the corner, so everybody's excitement was palpable. The Halloween celebration at Hogwarts was one of the most expected by the students and you were definitely not the exception, nonetheless, after already four years of spending the holiday the wizard style, you were kind of starting to miss the muggle celebrations you were so used to when you were only a child.
You missed the costumes so much. Everything was really cool, but why didn't wizards dress up for Halloween? I mean, can you imagine the possibilities?
And so your idea was born: A Halloween celebration in Hogsmeade with your friends and anybody else who wanted to join, but with costumes, like muggles did. It was going to be a little bit of a mix between the two worlds. And it was going to be fantastic.
"Guys, guys, guys, guys, guys!" you said excitedly on Monday morning, sitting at the Gryffindor table in a rush, "I was thinking, why don't we throw a costume party in Hogsmeade the night of Halloween? It could even be at the Three Broomsticks, if we ask for permission, of course, I gotta check that, but, a costume party! What do you think?"
"You mean like the muggle tradition?" asked Hermione.
"Yes! Exactly! I actually don't quite understand why wizards don't dress up for Halloween, but whatever. I think this would be great!"
"Of course, sounds amazing, (Y/N)! But we gotta plan it very well, so I'll help you with the organisation," said Hermione with a lopsided smile.
"Well, sounds like fun, so count me in," said Ron, "By the way, (Y/N), can you pass me the sausages, please?"
"Sure, there you go..."
"I'm definitely in too. It would be my first time dressing up for Halloween, so I wouldn't miss it for the world," Harry added, "Dudley was the one who went trick-or-treating every year; meanwhile I stayed at home, either inside the cupboard or doing whatever chores my aunt could come up with."
"Blimey, Harry, that sucks..." Ron commented before placing another sausage on his plate, which was already brimming with food. Harry simply shrugged.
"Erm, well, great then! I think..." you paused for a second and then added," Let's tell everybody else!"
"Who are you planning to invite?" Hermione questioned; she was definitely taking this organisation thing very seriously.
"I was thinking of simply spreading the word, so anybody who wants to can join."
"Oh, all right. That sounds fine," she said, although she didn't sound entirely convinced.
"Are you going to invite your boyfriend then?" Ron inquired with a sly look on his face.
"Oh, he's not my boyfriend! We're just... acquaintances... who hated each other in the past... but not anymore..."
He referred to no other than Draco Malfoy, the so called Slytherin Prince. At the very beginning of your Hogwarts days, you honestly couldn't stand each other, with all his arrogance and his superiority complex, however, at some point and for some strange and unknown reason to you, he stopped being an utter arsehole, your mutual teasing became more of an inside joke than actual bullying and you kinda started getting along. At least you were able to be in the same room without trying to hex one another.
"Yeaaah, of course, and who also study together in the library..." Ron continued.
"That happened one time!" you exclaimed, a flush creeping across your cheeks, "Or was it twice?"
"Twice" Harry and Ron answered in unison.
"Actually," Hermione interrupted, "it happened three times if we count the one where they had to work on the potions project together."
"But that does not count! It was a project! We had to!"
"Mmmmm, it counts because you chose to work together" she explained, a sly tone in her voice.
"That was just because he's the only Slytherin I've had an actual, relatively decent interaction with... Seriously, Hermione? That's not even the point here, guys, let's focus. And yes," you said making emphasis en the 'yes', "I am going to invite him, 'cause, why not? He's probably going to instantly reject the idea anyways, you know how he is." You crossed your arms over the table and took a deep breath.
"Wow", said Ron, "I can't believe you actually said all that without pausing to breathe. However," he said emphasising that last word," I'm telling you, (Y/N), you're gonna end up together. But if you're so sure of the contrary, let's make a bet."
"What?"
"Yes, whoever loses will have to do the winner's homework for a week." Ron smirked.
"A week! Are you nuts?" you exclaimed.
"Well, you have nothing to worry about... Unless you do think you're gonna end up being Malfoy's girlfriend..." His smirk widened and your cheeks went a little pinker than they already were.
"All right, fine. It's settled then. I only hope you're ready to do all my homework for a week, Ronald Weasley."
"We'll see about that."
After a busy and tiring week trying to plan an amazing Halloween party at the same time as doing all your class work, Saturday had finally arrived and everybody was filled with excitement. The news of your party had spread like wildfire and soon you and Hermione had to recalculate the supplies you'd need in order to have enough for every single person who wanted to drop by.
Also, you'd indeed told Draco about the party, nonetheless, just as you thought it would be, he didn't seem very excited about the whole idea... Well, yeah, he might have implied that he would never in his right mind attend a muggle celebration like that and that you were nuts to think of the possibility, however!, he didn't really, explicitly say no, so you'd taken his response as a maybe and still hoped he'd go for at least a little while (wait, why were you hoping that? It's not like you cared that much about him attending or not... Right?)
Since you'd been very busy with all the planning, you'd started working on your costume a little bit late, but you were very satisfied with the result: you were going to be Medusa. I mean, she's iconic! Being able to turn people into stone if they look you in the eye? Wicked! (At some point Harry made a joke comparing Medusa to a basilisk, and I mean, sure, but to be honest he really had to work on his humour). You'd even enchanted a diadem with snakes so they moved like they were alive! (Because, come on, you were committed to this holiday, but let's be sensible, you weren't going to wear actual snakes on your hair, there are levels).
The point is that, like everyone else, you were incredibly excited about your party. And also a bit nervous, you didn't want to screw something up, but you also knew not everything could be perfect and what mattered most was that everybody had fun.
"(Y/N)! Are you ready? We gotta get going!" Hermione called from outside the bathroom of your dormitory. You opened the door and stepped out, ready to rock and roll.
"So? How do I look?" you asked, twirling so she could take a look of your whole costume.
"Intimidatingly gorgeous."
"Oww! Thank you! Wait," you said now focusing on Hermione's costume," what are you wearing? No, no, not that, forget that, but why didn't you tell me you were going to be greek goddess, Hermione?"
"For your information, I am Athena," she said and imitated your twirl, "and I wanted it to be a surprise, I kind of got the idea thanks to you, when you told me you were going to be Medusa."
"Well, yeah... It's perfectly okay, but I would've liked to know before! Also, dressing up as specifically Athena is so you, Hermione, and you look gorgeous, seriously, I'm in love with you. Draco Malfoy who?"
"Is that a confession?" questioned Hermione with a sly smile.
"It's a joke" you clarified rolling your eyes but with a lopsided smile on your face.
"Yeah, sure, truly convincing," your friend said with sarcasm "Anyways, we gotta go now, come on!"
And off you went. You met Harry and Ron in the Gryffindor common room (Harry had dressed up as a Gryffindor quidditch player who'd been hit in the head by a bludger, and Ron was simply wearing a Chudley Cannons uniform. Boy, if these guys were obsessed with quidditch...) and the four of you headed happily towards the entrance of the castle, where all the students gathered before going to Hogsmeade. In your way there you were able to see a lot of different costumes from the students who were attending your party and you were deeply amused (and amazed) by they're creativity. Wizards should definitely do this more often.
When you finally arrived to the Three Broomsticks, you found the entire place decorated just as you'd imagined, and Madam Rosmerta (whom you'd previously sent a letter asking for her permission to use the place for your party in exchange of a reasonable amount of money, and she very kindly had agreed and even offered to help you with the organisation and setting the ambience too) was just applying the final touches.
"Oh, hello, dears!" she greeted you with a smile; she really was a very beautiful woman, no wonder why Ron and many other students fancied her, "So? What do you think? Is it like you imagined?"
"It definitely is!" you exclaimed looking around the place in awe, "It's truly fantastic, thank you so, so much! Now all we got to do is wait for everybody else to arrive!"
It didn't take too long before the first group of students entered the place, only a couple of minutes after the time of the appointment, and from then on, people just kept flooding the pub.
"All right, guys!" you shouted over the murmurs of the crowd so everybody could hear you and be quiet while you spoke, "Here's what we've got: You are allowed to order two butterbeers free of charge, however, if you want more you'll have to pay them yourselves. Now, there's relatively decent food on that table," you pointed to the table on the corner at your left side," and in that other table next to the entrance you will find a bunch of various sweets that are definitely unhealthy if eaten in excess, so, please, don't get too excited, people," the multitude before you chuckled and you smiled widely," Also, dear Colin here offered to take pictures of whoever asked him to, so if you want one, just let him now... Ah! And I almost forgot, there will be a costume contest at the end, so be sure to write your name down on the scroll that's on that wall,"you said and pointed to the wall opposite to you," if you want to participate. I think that's all for now, so enjoy the party, and Happy Halloween, everybody!"
The crowd cheered and applauded you before returning to their chatting or heading straight to where the food was. You walked towards the bar to tell something to Madam Rosmerta and soon some upbeat Halloween-themed music started playing. At some point, a few students took a corner of the place as improvised dance floor and, frankly, everything was even better than how you'd pictured it at first. And that was saying something.
"Amazing party, (Y/N)! You should totally do this more often!" cheered Fred and George Weasley about and hour after the beginning of the party. They'd dressed up as some quite creepy zombie conjoint twins and you thought it was brilliant.
"Thank you, guys! I'm glad you're having fun!" you shouted over the music, "By the way, I think your costume is brilliant, suits you perfectly!"
"Thanks! Hope it's enough to win that costume contest of yours, but being honest, there's a lot of competition here," Fred replied.
"Yeah, I mean, just look at your costume! You look fantastic!" George continued.
"Oww, well, luckily for you, I'm going to be a judge, so I'm not participating..."
The conversation went on for a couple more minutes until Lee Jordan called the twins to the dance floor.
Although the party was an absolute hit, you couldn't help but think about a certain someone who wasn't there.
"You look a bit disappointed," said Hermione from behind you, making you jump a bit, "Thinking about somebody who didn't come, perhaps?"
Sometimes it was truly scary how Hermione could know so much.
"What? No! What are you talking about?" you asked trying to brush the topic off.
"Will you please stop trying to deny your feelings, (Y/N)?" Hermione crossed her arms over her chest. "Look, it's pretty obvious that Malfoy isn't indifferent to you and, to be fair, I don't really mind! I mean, he's been a lot less annoying since you two started to get along a little better, so go ahead if you fancy him!"
"But what if I don't want to fancy him, Hermione?" you exclaimed finally giving in, "He was pretty awful to us in our first years and, yes, maybe we get along now, and he's been a lot better but... I just... I don't know! I guess I feel a bit guilty about it... Besides,he can still be considerably rude sometimes towards people and, even if we left that aside, what makes you think that he could possibly fancy me? I mean, come on, he didn't even come! And I don't... I don't want to be all head over heels for him or anything, and that's also the reason why I keep denying it! If I talk about it, it becomes more real, so maybe if I simply ignore it, my feelings will go away soon enough!"
Luckily for you, you were wearing your green Medusa makeup, otherwise Hermione would have been able to see your cheeks turn bright red.
"Okay, I understand that..." she said, "But I think you got something wrong there, (Y/N), he did come..."
"What?!"
"He just arrived, look, there he is! It's like you invoked him" You turned to look were Hermione had her eyes fixed. And, of course, she was right, there he was. Looking quite dreamy, but you shouldn't think about that, should you? "I'd give you my whole pep talk, but there's no time, you've got more important things to take care of right now. Just, I don't know, let it flow, okay?... But go on, then! Go with him!" she hurried you. You did as you were told and walked towards him changing your mood instantly and pretending that the previous conversation with Hermione had never happened. Just act normal, you thought.
"So you came!" you greeted him once you'd reached him.
"I did," Draco asserted, "Medusa, huh?" he said looking at you up and down with a raised eyebrow and... was that the spirit of a smirk? Once more your makeup helped you hide your blushing and you tried to act like there weren't some butterflies fluttering in your stomach.
...Ugh, this was exactly why you didn't want to admit you fancied him in the first place!
"Indeed," you replied smirking, "And a vampire, eh? Pretty simple if I'm honest, but you look good."
"I always look good, (Y/L/N), but if I'm honest," he said imitating your tone, "you look pretty good too."
"I always look good, Malfoy."
You explained him what you'd told the crowd at the beginning of the party and he decided to order a butterbeer. Then the conversation between the two of you simply kept on going without much difficulty; for some strange reason the fact that you had feelings for him and yet apparently not a single thing in common with him didn't affect your communication.
"All right, but this is insane," he said at some point, " how did you manage to pull this off? I mean, it must have cost you quite a fortune..."
"Well, I did get help from my friends with the budget, but, yes, I had to negotiate with my parents and trade my Christmas and birthday presents of the next year for some money to do this right."
"You're bloody insane..."
"I think you made that pretty clear when I first invited you to come, and yet here you are," you said with sufficiency, "so I guess I'm not the only one here who's gone a bit nuts."
He huffed and took another sip of his butterbeer. In that moment, Ginny Weasley, Parvati Patil and Hermione, who were currently dancing among a bunch of other students, called you and gestured at you to go dance with them. You nodded and turned to Draco in order to tell him that he could stay there while you danced for a while, but before you could articulate anything he said:
"No way you're leaving me here, you're the only person I can actually interact with in a mildly pacific way, so I'm sticking with you."
"Okay... But you're gonna have to dance, then."
"And you think am not qualified for the task?" he asked with his usual smirk.
"Are you really always such a showoff?"
"Only when I'm trying to impress somebody," that answer definitely took you by surprise, but you didn't have the chance to say anything, 'cause he added, "Go on, then, they're waiting for you. I'll go right behind."
And so you danced with your friends. And he danced. And you two danced together. And it was pretty unbelievable for everyone, including you, but nobody seemed to mind since they had never seen Draco in such an unproblematic mood.
A couple of hours later, the costume contest finally took place. The prize for the winner was a special package of sweets you'd prepared plus five galleons... Yeaaah, you'd definitely put a lot of effort in the planning of your party, and it had been completely worth it so far.
All the participants formed a line so each one could walk around showing their costume just as if it were a fashion runway. Meanwhile, you were arranging the seats for the judges. And, as a matter of fact, you had one judge missing. Your intention at first had been that there were four judges in the panel, nonetheless, since both Harry and Ron had declined the offer because they wanted to participate, you were only three: Madam Rosmerta, Hermione and yourself. And all the people you trusted also wanted to take part in it, so it seemed that you'd have to settle with only three judges. Unless...
"Hey, Draco!" Wait, since when did you address him by his first name? Oooh, this was getting out of control... You shouldn't have said anything!
"What is it?" he asked from the seat he had taken at some nearby table, just like all the other students who wouldn't take part in the contest, and were happy to simply watch, had done.
"Well, I was wondering..." you began doubtfully, "if you would like to be a judge too?"
"Me? A judge?" He frowned. "Why?"
"Because I wanted there to be four, but I've got one missing. And I think you'd make a fair judge, as long as you keep your good mood and you're not rude to our contestants... So?" you said bitting your lip.
"Erm, all right. Can't promise I won't be tough on them, though" there was that smirk again.
"Oh, shut up," you said playfully," You can be tough, just not rude. There's a difference."
And so the contest began.
An hour flew by and sooner than you'd expected, you found yourself deliberating with your three judges on whose costume was the best. A task which was pretty hard to do. Harder than you'd expected, actually.
At the moment, you had managed to leave only three finalists, each one provided by one of your fellow judges, and you were the one with the final word. The problem was that you couldn't make up your mind.
"I'm telling you!" Hermione insisted, "Harry's costume should win! It's creative and original and very thorough!"
"Granger, you're only saying that because he's your friend," intervened Draco," but come on! That kid with the Dementor costume? He is literally floating! And he's like in second grade or so! I really think he's the one who should win."
"Well, he definitely portrays a dementor better than you did in third year..." the girl countered.
"All right, guys, don't fight, we gotta make a decision quickly and you're getting on my nerves. Yes, both of you..."
"I still say that those Weasley twins are a lot of fun... They should win if you ask me," Madam Rosmerta mentioned, already losing interest in the matter; looking at three teenagers argue over a costume contest wasn't exactly her definition of "fun".
"Yeah, but they're costume is not as complex as Harry's, (Y/N)!" Hermione reiterated.
"But Potter is not floating, now, is he?" Draco retorted.
"Merlin's beard, you guys! Will you both please shut up?" you scolded, "If I'm completely honest, I wouldn't even consider any of them as my first option, I would choose Padma Patil!" you paused for a second thinking what to say next to state your point, "I mean, she dressed up as Celestina Warbeck! Are you joking? That's bloody brilliant if you ask me! And not only that but she brought Lavender, Parvati and that other girl whose name I don't remember at the moment as her Banshees! Come on! Creative, original... Besides, look at her dress! It looks pretty thorough to me! And yeah, she may not be floating," you added turning to Draco," but she's enchanted her necklace to play 'You stole my cauldron but you can't have my heart' to look like she's actually singing!"
There were a couple of seconds of silence, until Draco decided to break it.
"Then why on earth didn't you say that from the very beginning, (Y/L/N)?"
"Because you were so determined to say who you thought should win that I didn't want to cause more trouble with the decision!"
"Well, as a matter of fact, it makes it a lot easier for me," said Madam Rosmerta, "that girl and her friends were my second option. I simply love Celestina Warbeck."
"She was my third option, so I guess I don't mind," Draco stated shrugging and then leaned back on his chair.
You looked at Hermione.
"Well, yeah... She wasn't in my top three, but it's fine for me", she didn't sound entirely convinced, but it was enough.
"Okay, then..." you said finally, a little surprised by the result, yet satisfied," Brilliant! Then we've got our winner!"
The four of you stood up; Hermione, Draco and you walked to the center of the improvised runway while Madam Rosmerta simply returned to the back of the bar, clearly not wanting to take part in the decision-making of some fifteen-year-olds anymore.
"So, before we announce our winner, I wanted to say something," you began, "As you can see, it was quite difficult for us to make a decision, because all of your costumes are amazing. I truly think so! You're so creative and fun, and believe me when I say that if I had a larger budget I'd probably give prizes to all of you," you chuckled softly, " unfortunately, it isn't the case, so we had to choose only one... Are you ready to know who won?"
The multitude shouted a very enthusiastic "Yes" as response.
"All right, then... Padma Patil, congratulations, you and your Banshees are the winners!"
There were cheers, applause and a few disappointed sighs, but everybody seemed to be as satisfied with the decision as you. You gave the four girls their prize and the music started playing once more. However, the party was coming to its end and a lot of people were already saying their goodbyes and leaving. Therefore, before anything else could happen, you grabbed Draco's arm and dragged him all the way to where Colin Creevy was taking a few pictures of some third year students.
"What are you doing?"
"We're gonna take some pictures," you stated, "I've already got a few with Harry, Ron and Hermione, but since you arrived late..."
He didn't even get the chance to protest, because in that moment the third year students left and you dragged him once more to the spot where they'd been posing.
"What the... What am I supposed to do?" he inquired with a slight note of panic in his voice.
"Dunno, just think of cool poses! We've got two shots, so think fast!"
Your first shot was of you two in an average pose, you know, just smiling, you leaning on his shoulder, his arm around your waist and the butterflies in your stomach going a bit crazier about it.
"What now?!"
"I don't know! It's not like I'm used to doing this!" he exclaimed.
"I thought you were Draco bloody Malfoy, aren't you known enough to get a lot of pictures? You should be used to it!"
"I don't get a lot of fun pictures with weird poses!"
"Well, think of something then!" Colin could do nothing but stare in amusement at your absurd argument, trying to suppress his laughter.
"You think of something!" Draco countered.
"Why am I the one who always has to think of everything? Use your brain, mister!"
And you'd barely finished your sentence when, without a warning and almost against any common sense left on both of you, Draco's lips crushed against yours, his hands grabbing the sides of your face eagerly. Only an instant later he pulled away and looked at you, with his usually pale cheeks coloured in a bright shade of pink and his moon-like eyes reflecting the panic of maybe having done something very wrong. However, he quickly intended to hide it:
"Was that a proper use of my brain, miss?
You were flabbergasted. Totally. The whole night had been utter madness for you since this boy arrived... But it wasn't a bad type of madness, you were delighted. You fancied him. And now you knew that it was mutual.
"Well... Sure... but why did you stop?" you murmured, just inches away from his face, and then smiled bitting your lip. You saw his whole face lighten up as he smiled broadly, just before leaning in to kiss you once more, this time more passionately and intensely than before. You could feel the cold touch of his family ring against the soft skin of your cheeks, contrasting with the warmth of his palms.
The camera flashed and that single incredible moment was captured forever in a picture that would last for a long, long time, kept in scrapbooks and family photo albums.
"Oh, crap..." you grumbled after you pulled away the second time.
"What's wrong?" Draco asked, his voice hoarse due to the kiss.
"Now I'm going to have to do Ronald's homework for a week!"

His Eyes and Her Mind [Levi | Reader | High school AU!]
Tumblr media
You're slowly browsing through your old Psychology notebook before you pinpoint a sentence that draws your attention. Your reaction is immediate - your lips curl into a condescending smile as you stare at it, highly amused.
'Eyes are a door to one's soul.'
Yeah, as if. You cackle and your boyfriend throws you a strange look from his seat across the table outside the café you're currently at. Honestly, you've never believed this eye to soul connection and there is very little that can change your opinion on the matter.
1. Normal look     Indifference
You walked down the hallway with your best friend Hanji when you saw him. Hanji flipped her brown hair over her shoulder, talking about your Biology lesson, but you could no longer hear her as distinctly. He was walking towards you with his small group of friends - Isabel and Farlan, the girl and boy on both his sides discussing something heatedly as he watched the debate silently.
You were approximately five feet away when he also looked up and saw you. You felt something turn inside you, but it was a daily occurrence around him so you ignored the sign as always and stared into his gunmetal orbs. Your face stayed impassive and so did his as your small groups passed each other down the hallway, but you had to admit you liked the attention he had been giving you recently.
Sure, you'd never really talked, but you'd exchanged plain courtesy and greetings at times when it was inevitably going to happen anyway. You never thought much of it - he was attractive and he was staring at you more than you'd ever seen him stare at anybody, but that was it. It didn't make your heart flutter, your knees wobble or your head spin. It shouldn't have as well.
You just couldn't get his dumb eyes out of your head.
2. Intense stare     Frustration
What's his problem?! You were fucking sure if he kept staring at you like that you were going to get up and slap him at one point. Second term turned out to be your "lucky" one since you now shared three out of seven classes with Levi Ackerman, the one that had been paying you attention since the beginning of the junior school year.
Your brows momentarily furrowed.
Of course, since you'd had only two short-term boyfriends in your life so far and they'd never really paid much attention to you you enjoyed it more than you should've. It still didn't make your knees wobble or your mind fogged up with daydreams of the boy sweeping you off your feet, but you still hadn't even led a proper conversation.
You nervously licked your dry lips.
You were forced to officially meet last month during a project you had to do with three other people, but other than that stiff interaction you'd never even said anything to him and he seemed fine with that. Only recently, however, his attention seemed to have gone to the next level. For a week straight he'd been staring you down like he wanted to come up to you and ask you to willingly give him all your valuable personal belongings.
You got a hand through your hair in frustration.
Today was especially intense for some unknown to you reason, but it was pissing you off since you could feel it and it made you uncomfortable. Did he have some kind of problem with you - your attire, attitude, appearance as a whole? Maybe you pissed him off? Maybe you'd said something wrong? Maybe he was in a bad mood and decided to get it out on you?
A sigh left your lips.
You doubted the last one since Levi always seemed like he was in a bad mood, but you'd never seen him stare at somebody like this just because of that. You didn't know what his stare meant and that pissed you off more than the distracting persistence of his gunmetal hues. You were frustrated up to the point of blowing up any second now - his stare had made you avoid him as a whole less than ten minutes ago.
Your finger started tapping on your notebook impatiently.
The teacher at the front was talking about something you couldn't even pay attention to, Levi's tense orbs were digging holes into your face and the feeling of it was unsettling. So Hanji had been right when she said people could actually feel when they were being watched. You looked up, anything but interested in your work and stared right back into the gunmetal hues of the male across your desk, sharing his best friend's coursebook which had forced him to turn his back to the teacher and his face to you.
You saw his own eyebrow twitch momentarily but his gaze never left yours. You glared hard into his eyes, trying to provoke him, but it was in vain - he didn't react in any way. You tried to read what in the fucking hell had made him this annoyed with you in the first place - could there be any specific reason for his staring?
Your stomach turned again when you saw him get a hand through his silky locks as his eyes left yours. Great, now you were the one staring. Your eyes narrowed and you kept observing him, but he made no effort whatsoever to regain the lost eye contact, which just made you angrier.
Was he trying to make you look like a creep by staring at him? Well, you weren't going to have it.
With a huff, your attention went back to your own coursebook. You could feel his intense stare on your face less than a second after that. To say that you almost broke your pen in half wasn't an understatement.
3. Bashful avoidance     Confusion
He just had to be like that, didn't he? Levi Ackerman, the all mighty, fearless sorta bad boy, sorta nerd. He just had to keep looking at you, giving your desperate being some kind of false hope and a shit ton of mixed signals. And what was worse - he didn't seem to regret it one bit. The worst however was yet to come and it was the unknown. Sometimes it scared you more than your biggest fears.
Fear of heights? Well, this building's last floor may be the fifth or fifty-fifth, wouldn't know with that fog.
Fear of the dark? That room might be lit up by the sun itself, but it could also be pitch black. Wouldn't want to understand which.
Fear of not knowing something? Levi Ackerman might as well tell you he loved or loathed you - you couldn't care less, but the tension of not knowing which of the two it was would break you before his words came out of his mouth.
Of course, the above was just a simple example of the situation at hand, which, in your personal opinion, was way worse. He was staring at you - fine. He made this strange thing happen to your internal organs with his presence - fine. He was charming, strangely kind, attractive, funny, intelligent and somehow generous, and he was paying attention to you of all people - fine. He confused you with his behaviour - not fine.
It had taken him two more days to calm down his intense stare, but he gradually did so and soon enough it was back to how it had always been - exchange of glances along the length of the hallway or up and down the stairs, sometimes even outside during lunch break. You rarely saw him out of school even though he lived in the same neighbourhood as you (which you knew since you regularly took the bus together) which was a relief of kinds. However, his recent behaviour seemed to confuse you more than anything.
First, he paid attention to you. Then, he tried to dig a hole into your face using only his eyes. Next, he stopped staring altogether and instead seemed like he was flirting with some other girl. Sure, she flirted first, but that wasn't much of an excuse. And all of a sudden, he was super friendly with the girl while eyeing you up constantly whenever you saw each other. It confused the fuck out of your mind and you hated not understanding certain things.
Not that you were the best when it came to emotions, socialising and such, but Levi had been remotely easy to read. Well, not now.
He walked into the school building with Farlan, sitting on the bench inside and facing your way (because you and Ymir were sitting on the bench across the room). You had a clear view of his eyes and how they trailed over your face, gently trying to push you to make eye contact with him. You didn't. Not yet anyway. It took you five seconds of a pointless exchange of stupid trivial phrases with Ymir to finally meet his gaze. You'd washed your hair earlier the same morning and combed it as much as you could before going out, so it was not a surprise that Levi noticed that - he always saw the little things.
Under normal circumstances, you'd lock gazes for the overall of ten seconds before either of your friends tore you away from the craved eye contact. This time it was different. Why? Because he looked away in less than a second.
Your brows raised in surprise and you listened to Ymir's story of her and Krista's date with half an ear, nodding occasionally when she would pause. The male's gesture confused you immensely - why did he look away? Was there something wrong with you? Did you not look as good? Of course, the mere fact that the action of his eyes averting from yours made you doubt yourself and grow self-conscious was stupid, but you couldn't help it - he never acted like that and you wanted to know why he did now.
This was where irritation came in. He confused you and you hated being confused, but it was inevitable - his further behaviour only made the issue deepen. The action repeated exactly four times before he and Farlan decided enough was enough and went up the stairs. He would look at you, hold your gaze for less than two seconds and look away as indifferently as possible. There were no changes in his facial expression and you could read nothing in his eyes. You were baffled at that - you were usually the one to look away.
You noticed the nervous tapping of his finger on his knee and the slight twitch of his thin eyebrow, but it wasn't something you considered significant at the time. You should have. Because it was.
4. Piercing glare     Anger
"I told you for the last time - I'm not going out with you, Mark."
Everything was pissing you off - today had started badly and was currently holding a steady pace. You had a pop quiz on your most hated subject so you barely got any sleep. Your mother had broken the coffee machine and your father had refused to fix it so no caffeine for you. And now due to yesterday’s downpoar your muddy shoes made you slip every few seconds.
Also, the constant annoyance bugging at your mind because of Levi's closeness with Petra was wow, what a surprise - annoying. It was troubling you on an emotional level, which was bad because if it was a trivial problem having to do with anything else you'd be in perfect condition to ignore it. Finally, this guy - Mark, who had been hitting on you for the past month suddenly decided to make an appearance during lunch break, block your way to your precious caffeine and ask you out on a date after you'd already refused him approximately five times.
Not to mention, he wasn't from the innocent annoying type - he was from the persistent scary type, where shit could get serious if you got too aggressive yourself. And right now, all you wanted was to get some fucking coffee and go back to class.
"Why, (Y/N)? You don't have a boyfriend." Mark put his hand on the tree which you'd found solace next to up until this moment, turning it into a trap that had just clicked instead. You found his smug strangely irritating today, to the point you could punch him if he tried anything funny.
"I just don't see you in that way, I don't want to waste my time." You retorted, teeth gritting in annoyance before the male decided to stop playing around. There weren't many people around you since the only coffee machine in a mile's radius was pretty far away and most students preferred to spend their time in the little shops around the school building and the cafeteria instead.
"So you're saying I'm a waste of time?" Mark leaned closer to you and his eyebrows furrowed, his pretty face finally showing its true colours. He had dirty blond curly hair and plain brown eyes, he was rather muscular and tall - all things he felt immensely proud of. Despite his face and body, however, he wasn't overly popular - he played sports and loved to hook up with every girl a bit above average, which really brought him down into the eyes of the female population in your school, resulting in some major disapproval coming from the student body.
"I'm saying it will waste our time as a whole, it's useless." You said, trying to ignore the way you wanted to punch him straight in the jaw. Maybe it wouldn't even work, but trying would surely satisfy your inner aggressive side - you just had to imagine you were hitting that stupid girl that was flirting with Levi.
"Not if I say it's not." Mark argued, making you turn your face to the side because of how close he was getting to you.
"Are you threatening me?" You inquired slowly with narrowed eyes. He just laughed at you before smirking down at your face.
"Do you want me to threaten you or will you agree to go out with me willingly?"
"Does that mean if I don't say 'yes' you'll force me?"
"Yes." He looked like the Big Bad Wolf about to have breakfast when he put his other hand on the tree behind you, pinning you between his arms. "When I want something I get it." His expression may have been seductive, but to you it was disgusting - how could such a male survive so long in society when he was this stupid and forceful?
"Didn't know you were a rapist besides being a womanizer." You pointed out, only to have the daylights slapped out of you a second later.
"Shut up!" He should have been thankful there weren't people around, otherwise, somebody would have come and stopped him by now. You guessed you wouldn't be able to have your coffee soon. The slap made your cheek sting and your eyes narrowed in fury. Sure, you couldn't do anything to fight him off except kick him in the nuts, which wouldn't do as much as you'd want it to, but you could sure as hell glare at him all you wanted.
"You're pathetic, you can't even take a rejection." You faced Mark, angry yet scared of what he might do to you now. You weren't going to let him have his way just because he was stronger, though. His face twisted in fury and he grasped your wrist, bruising the skin with his calloused fingers. He was about to hit you again with his other hand before it happened.
"Let go." Another male growled behind Mark's back. "Right. Now."
"Since when are you interested in protecting people? Or is it just this bitch?" Mark snarled at the other male, which you soon came to understand was actually Levi. Your eyes were wide as you stared at his frown. You doubted you'd ever seen him that angry.
"Are you sure you can question me right now?" The raven-haired boy asked with furrowed brows and a glare so hard you thought it would burn you if he directed it towards your eyes. Mark flinched and you felt his grip on your wrist loosen up a bit.
"What do you think you can do to me, Ackerman?" The blond asked cockily even though you could see his jaw clench in helplessness. You realised who would win if they got in a fight and honestly - if somebody asked you to name one thing that would probably make you piss yourself from fear it was going to be Levi's glare in the current moment. It burned with the intensity of a raging fire for unknown to you reasons - it couldn't be because of you, right? He was probably here to get himself coffee and decided to play 'save the damsel in distress' on the way to the machine.
"Do you wanna see?" Levi closed in on you and Mark and you felt your wrist fall from his hold as he stepped back. Levi cracked his knuckles and the blond gulped. You didn't really think Levi's words were what scared him off.
"I'm just tired because I had a match during PE. Next time this won't happen." He ran faster than anything you'd seen after that, leaving you and Levi all alone.
"Because there won't be a next time." The raven mumbled to himself dangerously low. His glare moved from the ground to you and you felt your blood boil. You glared back at him and pushed yourself off the tree with furrowed eyebrows and a scowl.
"What a fucking dumbass! I could handle him, you know, I didn't need your help!" You exclaimed in the raven's face. Surprisingly that was probably the first proper conversation you were having with him after your stiff official meeting.
"Do you really think so? Because I think you would've been raped in less than ten minutes." He pointed out in the most indifferent voice ever, making you try to dig a hole into his skull with your eyes. His glare was making you angrier yourself. When he stepped closer to you and gently wrapped his fingers around your bruised wrist your expression twisted in disgust and you yanked your hand away from his hold, ignoring how his glare had actually scared you moments ago.
You stepped away from him and went away, but not before snarling: "Don't fucking touch me."
5. Shocked gleam     Fright
"Hanji, stop talking about this, it's stupid." You were walking down the stairs with your brown-haired friend once again - a week or so had passed after the whole 'Mark incident' and surprisingly enough he never even approached you after that, it was like he was afraid to. You didn't pay much attention to it, going back to your routine of stealing glances at Levi Ackerman from time to time when he wasn't looking and hoping his gaze was tracing your face just as much as yours did his.
Unfortunately, you kept catching Petra Ral flirting with him and there was nothing you could do about it but blame yourself for not having the self-esteem to talk to him like she did. Right now, the discussed topic was close to your problems.
"I'm just saying if you mustered up some courage and started talking to him regularly his interest would pick up and hers would fade. The boy's basically staring at you every chance he gets, (Y/N)." Hanji argued as you pushed your way down the stairs through the other students going up. You knew Levi and Farlan were somewhere behind you since you had the same class together now, you just hoped neither of them would pick up on your conversation with the brown-haired girl.
"Hanji, I said stop. I don't want to talk about it anymore. Period." You stated harshly, looking at the girl next to you and clutching your backpack tighter. You briefly heard 'look at this' before someone bumped into you from behind and you lost your footing on the steps. Your body, your backpack and your combat boots tumbled down the stairs with nothing to catch on.
For a small second, you managed to use some student's shoulder to try and stabilise yourself, but it didn't work - it just turned your body so that you would fall on your back once the fateful moment came. You had a clear view of Hanji's parted lips and horrified expression. Right next to her, however, you saw something you may have just as well imagined with everything moving so fast.
Levi's hand was pushing through the students to get down faster and his eyes screamed something you couldn't really read. They gleamed in a way you never thought you'd see, like he'd seen his favourite cat get run over by a car on the street. Or something of the sort. You felt something grasp your hand, but had no time to see what exactly. The impact was here.
You didn't have time to analyse his wide eyes because your world went black less than a second after you were exposed to the complex sight.
Two hours later, you woke up in the infirmary with a giant headache and a panicked Hanji coming to visit you once classes were over. During your stay, you asked the nurse what had happened, but the only thing she said confused you even more: "If I understood correctly, the boy's arm almost broke when he used it to soften your fall. Well, you didn't get out completely uninjured since your back is bruised, but maybe you were actually lucky."
The next day Levi didn't come to school.
6. Deep gaze     Care
Calm, (Y/N), keep calm. It's all fine. You repeated over and over again in your head. Not like you had a chance to begin with, it's not a big deal.
Your breaths were coming out ragged and you felt like you weren't trembling because the ground in front of the side entrance of the school building was cold. A month, that was how long Levi had talked to you for. After the incident on the stairs at school and Levi's short absence after that, he started nodding to you when you'd see each other in the halls and you'd throw him a small smile, acknowledging his greeting. That went on for about two weeks before he came to you one day and asked to work with you since Farlan was absent and they always used the same coursebook. You'd said 'yes' without thinking much. Needless to say, you didn't really use the coursebook much that day yourself, you were too busy stealing glances at the male's face from up close and he was too nervous to actually read the exercises you were supposed to be doing.
After that it became a routine for him to approach you at least once a day - he'd give you a plain greeting, ask you about the classes you shared or if you wanted to get coffee together during lunch break (you felt he'd become overprotective after Mark even though there was no reason to be overprotective over you and no danger as a whole). There was always an excuse. Once he even sat next to you on the bus when there were no more free seats. You were happy, your mind was filled with butterflies and your stomach welled up with pleasant thoughts when he was around - or was it supposed to be the other way around?
It didn't matter since for a month you were the happiest girl on Earth.
And then Petra Ral came along. Needless to say, things started becoming shaky and you were drifting away - you didn't want to mess up her flirting with him. He seemed like he didn't notice or he was purely being an asshole and doing it on purpose. Not that it really mattered, you caught them making out less than four hours ago during lunch break. The worst was that he made eye contact right before breaking apart.
Not with her, with you. You would've felt sorry for her because her partner was clearly not paying attention to the activity she was putting so much effort (and tongue) into, but you hated her guts out of pure spite so you couldn't even care about emotions connected to empathy.
It's not his fault, he didn't give me any false hope - I created it myself.
That was your calming chant - he didn't do it just to break your heart, he did it because he wanted to be kind or use your coursebook when Farlan was gone. It wasn't to hurt you intentionally. It sounded stupid now that you thought about it - hoping for anything out of Levi Ackerman. He barely knew you and you barely knew him. Usually, you'd counter yourself with the argument you hadn't even led a proper conversation, but the worst here was that that was invalid now - you'd led many conversations throughout the past month and you'd enjoyed every single one of them no matter how stupid or trivial. For God's sake, you even enjoyed discussing different types of coffee and tea with him.
You weren't crying - you were having something like a minor panic attack, where you just trembled like a leaf and couldn't stop thinking about throwing your useless being in front of some passing bus. Truth be told, you hated these moments - if somebody had seen you during them that was Hanji and Hanji only. You'd never even let your parents understand about it even though the signs must've been there. The twitching, the trembling, the sweating, the ragged breathing. It was there. All of it was out there and if Levi ever saw it he'd truly give up on whatever you had even if it was as insignificant as your existence in the current moment.
You tried to laugh, but it came out messed up - like a person choking. You sat there for five more minutes - in the cold with the wind brushing your hair before you burrowed your face in your knees and closed your eyes. You could feel the tears, but they didn't want to come out. It was useless - crying about a boy that didn't even care about you.
Then somebody gently bumped your leg with their arm. Your head shot up and your hand instinctively reached for the pepper spray in your pocket, the one your father had given you as a Christmas present many months ago. Your eyes widened when you saw who was in front of you.
"Levi," you said, "why are you here?"
His face was expressionless as he gestured towards the cup in his hand. Your eyebrows furrowed and your hand went out of your pocket to grasp the carton cup he was clearly handing you. You smelled the beverage inside, relishing in the pleasant aroma of coffee. It made a smile spring out on your lips. Before you could register what was happening Levi had sat down next to you - closer than a guy with a girlfriend was supposed to sit next to another girl when they were all alone. The action made you flinch, but you didn't move away - it was a rare thing you got to sit this close to him.
You could smell his cologne - it was a fresh, strong smell that made you want to rub your face all over his chest. The male ran a hand through his ebony locks and you marvelled at the sight of his hair's softness. His body was oozing heat, beckoning you to go closer, as close as possible, and lay your head on his chest as his warm arms wrapped around you. You didn't.
"So, about today..." He started, sounding strangely stiff. You sipped from your coffee, warming your cold fingers with the cup and listening. Your stomach took one of those unpleasant turns, but you didn't let it show on your face.
"What exactly about today?"
"I don't even know if I should be discussing this with you, for all I know Farlan's sixth sense may be way too off the shitty map and you don't actually---" His confidence was gone once his panicked gaze met your curious orbs. He seemed confused, disgruntled and so many others. You were perplexed at his behaviour - was he usually this twitchy when it came down to your normal conversations? No, he wasn't, you figured a few seconds later.
"Well," you started after seeing he wouldn't continue, "I don't really know about Farlan's sixth sense, but I---"
"The kiss." He'd cut you off so abruptly you felt like he'd knocked the air out of your lungs with those two short syllables. "The kiss with Petra, it wasn't anything important. It was just a kiss." He continued, getting a hand through his hair again and scratching the back of his undercut with discomfort. "I know we both seem to acknowledge something without me saying it - something about us." You could guess where he was going with that. He meant the constant staring, all the glances and whatnot before you'd started talking. Or at least you thought he meant that. "Petra means nothing, she was just--- she was flirting with me I just didn't stop her because I wasn't sure if you... felt anything."
"... okay."
"Is it?" He asked once his eyes met yours. Your breath hitched in your throat and your fingers felt like ice even though they'd warmed up considerably. "Is it okay? Are you?"
"Everything's fine." Your forced smile turned out way more genuine than expected. His gaze was firm and his eyebrows were furrowed - he was trying to detect a lie somewhere along your sentence. He sighed when that didn't happen and for a few seconds, you were both silent. You were trying to process the situation.
Levi. Feelings. She was just flirting. Am I feeling anything?
Your heartbeat was erratic enough to answer in your stead. Then you looked up from the cup in your hands and met his gaze. You'd be lying if you said it wasn't the most mesmerizing thing you'd seen in your life. His eyes, so grey and so soft, pulled you in, it was like you couldn't look away from them. They were special, he was special and he made you feel special. Why was it that he looked at you with such affection? Were you reciprocating the gaze? You didn't know, but you felt like you could stay like that for hours.
And that was when it happened. Before you even had time to escape his warm hypnotising gaze.
He leaned in and kissed you.
7. Careless eyeroll     Reluctance
"You have to go." Hanji insisted, having already annoyed you as much as possible with her various arguments on the topic of your stubbornness.
"And you have to rethink the rights you have over my actions as a self-conscious human being." You replied boredly before placing a hand in front of your mouth in fake shock. "Oh, that's right - they don't exist in the first place." You gasped fakely, making her roll her eyes at your behaviour - forced nonchalance. She knew you wanted to accept the invitation but were too afraid everything would be ruined before you even had the chance to meet up.
"Would you please stop mocking me with those complex phrases, (Y/N)? You won't die if you go to a movie with him." The brunette insisted once more before you turned the corner and you frowned at her.
"Sure, not physically, but I'll be dying the whole time mentally - of embarrassment." You sassed, making the brown-haired girl huff in determination as she walked you to your next class. Your schedules differed the second term, so you could only see her during breaks and inbetween other classes. Right now you seriously didn't want to see her, though. She'd been pestering you about Levi's invitation for the past week.
"So it's decided, you will go." She stated, making you gape at her as you both stopped in front of the door for your next class.
"I never sa---"
"The tense, (Y/N), the tense is the key." Hanji cut you off with a cocky smirk and a mischievous gleam in her brown hues. Of course, she'd just forced you to accept. You had no choice - you knew the raven would probably remind you of it as well and you'd have to finally give him a proper answer.
"Shut up, Hanji." You glared at your best friend before she pushed you into the room.
"Now go." She ushered from the doorway while pointing in Levi's direction and you threw her a dirty look before stomping away. Less than three steps later he turned around and looked into your eyes, making you almost trip over your own feet.
"Hi." You greeted awkwardly as the male took out his notebook and eyed you up from head to toe. His gaze made you nervous and your knees were about to start wobbling when he spoke up.
"So about my earlier request, which you've been avoiding to answer for about a week?" Levi pushed gently although in a you-don't-have-a-choice-but-to-answer way, making you avert your eyes to the other side of the room in hopes of seeming calmer than you were. You knew it wouldn't work that well, but you hoped to have at least looked nonchalant.
"... I accept." Was your brief answer as your eyes glanced at Levi's visage secretly and directed themselves to the floor right after.
"I guess I should be grateful?" He rolled his eyes at you, reluctance dripping from the sentence. You knew his face would be a bit softer even though you weren't looking at it. You were good at guessing by his voice (not that it always worked), so right now you acknowledged he was just trying to tease you.
"If I don't see Petra Ral giving you a blowjob afterwards it's going to be fine." You said mockingly with narrowed eyes, which just called for some fake concern on his side. Of course, he and Petra had not become official, but anything was possible. You held resentment for that girl more than you did for yourself - that was something deserving of a medal.
"That was uncalled for." Levi tried to protect her boredly as your eyes finally met his.
"Yes, you're right, but that does not change my mind on the matter." Your tone was firm as you walked towards your own desk, close enough to his so you could connect them and look at the same coursebook. He followed behind silently.
"Fine." He mumbled while watching you put your backpack on the desk. You started digging through the numerous notebooks and course books for the ones you needed currently, which probably reminded him of your little tradition to share a coursebook. "The coursebook?" He inquired, asking if you've brought it which was stupid because you'd never forget it (no matter if you were going to admit it or not, you'd always put it first in your backpack because it gave you a reason to be close to him).
"It's here." You announced once having laid it down on the desk next to your notebook and he got to work with pushing your desks closer.
"Thank you by the way." He mumbled once class had started and your teacher had entered the room. Your eyebrows furrowed in confusion as you looked into his bright grey eyes.
"What for?" You asked quietly as he eyed up the exercise your teacher had just written on the board. He didn't look up again for the next three seconds. All you were given after that was a brief glance filled with something you couldn't understand before Levi's eyes were pinned back to the coursebook.
"... maybe I should leave you to figure it out yourself."
8. Grinning glimmer     Happiness
The weather was calm, it was around noon and strong wind had been making the trees' branches bend mere minutes ago. Snow covered the ground all around, there had been a storm during the night and judging by the white inches stacked on top of the ground it hadn't been all that light. Now the sun was shining in the blue sky deprived of clouds and the air was cold and so still you could bet time itself wouldn't move until some wind blew by.
You fidgeted uncomfortably and stood in front of the wooden door of the small single-storey house, contemplating whether you should knock or run away now that you still had time to do it. Fate didn't really leave you a choice since just as you were about to turn round the door opened and made your eyes widen in alarm. You looked up and faced the person who had opened it with an insecure expression.
"... hey." You greeted after a small pause while Levi still processed your presence at his doorstep.
"What are you doing here?" His eyebrows furrowed and you drew your hands from behind your back, handing him the little box you were holding. The chilly air made your face go red anyway, so you hoped he wouldn't notice the change in its colour due to other causes as you talked.
"I was passing close by and I thought I could come and say 'hi'. So, hi, I guess." You smiled awkwardly, making him raise a thin eyebrow as he took the grey box from your hands. "And I bought this for you, but since we're in the middle of winter break I didn't really have a pretext to see you, so I might've created it... or something." You switched your weight between your left and right foot during your explanation while Levi stared at you wondrously.
"... for Christmas?" He questioned after a slight pause and you noticed he might've been cold judging by the way he only had on a plain pair of jeans and a sweatshirt.
"No, it's for your birthday. Happy birthday by the way." You smiled a bit, eyeing him up from head to toe again and starting to regret having come at all. You guessed it would've been better if you'd waited until the end of winter break to give it to him. "Um, I guess I have to go." You stepped backwards before he smirked slightly and a mischievous gleam shone in his eyes.
"And insult the tradition?" He inquired slyly as your eyebrows furrowed and you looked at him in confusion.
"What tradition?" You witnessed the flicker of his eyes to the doorframe above your heads and what you saw there made your breath hitch, something the raven was able to pinpoint quickly due to the chilly weather making every breath you took exit in the form of a white puff of smoke. Your eyes were still pinned to the object at the top of the doorframe. A mistletoe. "... oh. I'm not really sur---"
Before you had time to finish refusing the very generous yet embarrassing offer, Levi had stepped closer and cupped your cheek with his warm hand. His lips pressed to yours in a rather long, tender kiss and you felt yourself basically melting outside his doorstep. It was as if sparks flew about in your mind - just like the first time he'd kissed you. When his lips parted from yours and you opened your eyes, you saw his orbs glimmering so brightly it was as if he'd grinned your way.
"Thank you for the present, (Y/N)." He whispered, hot breath hitting your lips, and when he stepped back again you could swear he was mentally laughing at your frozen stance. You almost stumbled on your way away from the door.
"S-See you at school!" You waved, turning around and basically running away as fast as possible from the embarrassment, your boots crushing the soft snow under them down the path to your own home. You were a coward, but a happy feeling was bubbling in your chest, and God, for that look in his eyes you'd bear a lot more humiliation and possible snowstorms.
9. Foggy narrowness     Arousal
Indecent. That was what you were being right now.
"You shouldn't have gotten detention because of me." Levi scoffed, grey orbs eyeing the empty room you were currently in after today's accident during lunch break when he'd gone to fetch coffee for both of you and you'd waited for him by the entrance even after most students had gone back inside the building because of the bad weather.
"And you shouldn't have been an asshole to a teacher to begin with." You scolded him back, your eyes, in turn, being pinned to his face and the desperate way he was holding himself back from looking at you as well because he was supposedly mad. You were leaning on the desk he'd seated himself at, seeing as the teacher in charge of detention was still nowhere to be seen.
"He was feeling you up." Levi said as if it would justify the whole situation and indeed, it did. You didn't know what you two were - certainly not an official couple anyway, but you were closer than before and now offered each other physical affection more often without as much embarrassment being present (although it still happened when you were all alone).
Your face went cold and that was exactly when he decided to direct his gaze your way - it was cold and sharp and you knew he'd seen right through you, almost immediately so. You'd been scared. Disgusted. Your fingers started fidgeting with the hem of your shirt and you averted your gaze to the floor at your feet.
"... doesn't matter, you almost punched him." You said accusingly and Levi rolled his eyes at your stupid excuse.
"I would've if we'd been outside of school territory." He declared and something in that sentence of somewhat sweet protectiveness (although expressed through aggression) made you extremely uncomfortable. You still hadn't told him anything about your feelings and he about his, you'd only gone out on numerous dates and spent an enormous amount of time looking at each other more openly - you rarely spoke of each other's feelings and you felt discomfort just thinking of the moment that would be needed for you to sustain this thing you had going on. You didn't know if Levi thought the same. You groaned in slight exasperation and turned your head toward the door of the room.
"Ugh. Where's the teacher in charge of detention anyway? We've been here for ten minutes now." You complained, wanting to talk of something else since it was obvious the raven had won this little argument of yours. Levi took the chance to stand up and lean close to you and when you turned back round his eyes were way closer than anticipated.
They pulled you in but weren't as sharp as every other day. When he leaned closer and kissed you, you got a hunch why it was that way. During the kiss, his hand placed itself on your thigh and his whole body hovered over yours like predator hovered over pray prior to the finishing blow.
"... the teacher can come in any second now, Levi." You warned firmly yet in a small voice once the raven had started kissing down your neck. You felt giddy because it was nice and wow - since when was that so pleasant? Your previous boyfriends had also done this, but with Levi, it wasn't quite the same - maybe it was him or maybe it was the circumstances and the chance of you getting caught by a teacher, but you felt extremely good, almost to the point you'd let it go further despite the way you were in a classroom.
"I'm aware." The raven droned from the crook of your neck where he'd been sucking on a second ago and you let out a sharp breath when his hand snuck under your shirt. His head lifted so he could face you again and his eyes were on your lips.
"Then stop." You kept playing the role of common sense even though this situation wasn't entirely all that dangerous. Levi's smoky hues were pinned to your own and you noticed they were more narrow than usual, like he didn't even want to waste energy on keeping them open but he just had to. For a second you thought the whole look on his face was something you didn't come across every day or even when you were alone. When he kissed you again it dawned on you why.
His lips pressed against yours felt soft and pleasant, his breath was made of tea and mint and it turned your mind hazy. You felt like half the blood in your body went to your face when his tongue invaded your mouth and his hands found your breasts over your bra. You felt the softness of his hair but were so out of it you were unable to open your eyes. Or do anything but kiss him. You couldn't recall feeling the same way during your make-out sessions with your previous boyfriends - this was a whole new sensation, a combination of thrill and something that made your face flush as your chest swelled with pleasant warmth.
"They won't do anything to us for this." He declared as if he made the rules and you had to blink a few times to come to your senses - your arms were thrown around his neck, your fingers were in his hair and your legs were wrapped around his waist - how long had this kiss been? He was looking down at you in the sexiest way possible and honestly, how could you possibly refuse that face?
"They can do a lot to us for what's about to follow." You worded warningly, knowing where things would go if you didn't resist even though a small part of you told you he'd never dare do it in school when it would be your first time together. You didn't listen to it, keeping in mind your all-time favourite motto that all men were pigs and they'd take advantage of any and every situation that provided it.
Levi didn't. He kept kissing you, left you breathless, gifted you a few hickeys to go home with and gave you a lot more of that sultry look that almost made your knees give out, but never provided you with legitimate proof of your motto's rightfulness and it was about at that moment when you were walking home afterwards when you realised---
If you hadn't been at school you would've certainly had sex and what was worse - you wouldn't have had anything against it had it been with him.
10. Calculating ice       Thoughtfulness
"I don't approve of this relationship." You heard Levi take a breath from across the form of your father and his crossed arms.
"Dad, Levi isn't---" You tried to argue but were quickly shut up. It was seven in the morning. Thankfully, also a Saturday.
"Oh, he is! He invited you to that party and when you were so wasted you couldn't walk he could only think of how to park you in his bed! The next morning you call us with a hangover and this punk walks you here because apparently you've been together for almost about a year now but he still doesn't know where you live!" You frowned, not possessing enough bravery to speak against your father. Fortunately, you had your mother for that.
"James, calm down." She placed a hand on his shoulder as he grumbled in his armchair. You and Levi were seated on the couch, still in your pyjamas.
"I don't want to, Melissa! I don't like this boy and I don't want him around my daughter!" Even though it was a hiss directed at your mother, all occupants of the room including the aforementioned 'boy' managed to hear it. You looked over at Levi next to you, pondering whether you should grasp his hand or think up an excuse to let him leave before this became a full-on argument.
"Our daughter." Your mother's voice was firm and her eyes didn't dare leave your father's face to console you but you were too indulged in the look on Levi's face to notice it. Or in other words, the lack of a particular look on his face.
"If she's yours as much as she's mine then why aren't you worried about her as well?" Your father argued, making your frown deepen. The raven next to you had his elbows propped on his knees and his eyes staring at the carpet under his feet. His expression was devoid of any emotion - his face was perfectly relaxed with the exception of his furrowed eyebrows. His eyes were filled with thoughts you couldn't decipher, the usual grey now felt like frozen silver.
"I'm sure he means well, if they've been in a relationship for a year and this is the first mistake he's made, he can't possibly be bad influence." Your mother's voice was hushed but you heard it - Levi did, too. You placed a hand over the one he'd put on his knee. You could feel his finger tapping the fabric of his jeans as if he tried to tune everything else out and concentrate - he did that during tests at school.
"... I'm sorry, Levi." You whispered, bringing your face slightly closer to his. He didn't look at you. The ice in his eyes kept still, pinned to the floor. "Don't listen to him, I know just as much as you do we're both at fault." The regret was heard in your voice but the raven decided not to address it. He pursed his lips, then parted them.
"Maybe your father's right." His gaze was still on the floor. Still icy.
"He's not!" You raised your voice, briefly noting how your parents had stopped their own discussion and were now listening to yours. Your fingers slowly retracted from Levi's hand as he looked at you, face not changing in the least. You felt the gelidity in his eyes freeze the blood in your veins.
"Should we end this?" He questioned in a small voice - small but firm. Your reaction was immediate. Your expression hardened and you glared daggers his way, eyebrow twitching. You pursed your lips, forming a proper reply although a very big 'no' would work just as well.
"When it hasn't even started officially? I refuse." You spat, way more coldly than anticipated. Levi's eyes didn't soften, he was still considering this as a possibility. Your parents, however, were shocked. You grasped Levi's hand again, glare softening to a firm gaze instead. You attempted to make him change his mind - ten seconds were needed for you to succeed.
And afterwards, you swore, you didn't want to have to do it again.
11. Bright shine       Love
"Your boyfriend's got quite the style." Hanji showed up during the break, linking her arm with yours and leading you down the hallway to your next class together. You raised an eyebrow at her statement, not so much as the person who was addressed in it - she'd started calling Levi 'your boyfriend' although he still hadn't confirmed your couple status. "Everybody's discussing it. The girls mostly." She whispered devilishly in your ear, smirking rather big.
Your brows knitted together in oblivion as you walked to your next class. It was a class you also had with Levi. You'd see what Hanji had meant in just a minute. Before that, you had to get into the classroom, though, and at the current moment, it proved a near-impossible task with all the girls in front of it.
Some had their arms linked like you and Hanji, others were pretending to walk around, third leaned on the walls and some just didn't put effort into being subtle - they were the ones standing at the very door and looking inside. Your face turned sour like you'd bitten into a lemon and you glanced at Hanji. Was this what she had meant? All the girls were discussing something, giggling inbetween phrases and shooting frantic glances at the door.
"Students coming through, I've a VIP package to deliver to the hot guy inside, you know!" Hanji called out loudly, making you choke on your own spit in embarrassment. Then, as the girls actually let you pass and stared at you in confusion, you made sure to metaphorically stab her with your glare a few times. She only chuckled, and then you were inside the classroom.
Levi was... quick to notice. He popped out amongst the rest inside, not so much because of the fact he looked good but because his no-white clothes policy had obviously taken over him completely as he'd been choosing today's attire this morning. He was wearing a black, long-sleeved button-up shirt, tucked into a pair of impeccably ironed black dress pants. The dress coat and shining shoes were touches that people noticed when looking further into it. And the glare he had on surely prevented most from doing it.
Hanji let go of your arm and pushed you in his direction, he was sitting at his desk, already having adjoined it with yours, and attempting to ignore the people around him. You walked forward, self-conscious because of the all-black dress you were wearing and how it would quickly draw attention. Had it been a coincidence for you to match colours?
"Good morning." You greeted once having taken a seat next to him. "You're the talk of school today as it seems." You tried making your voice nonchalant. The few gazes on your forms, dressed so similarly and sitting next to each other, was plain frustrating.
"And you're my VIP package." Levi stated boredly from the desk next to yours, looking up and into your eyes. He saw them widen as pink tinted your cheeks. You thought he wouldn't have been able to hear. "Hanji tends to be a bit louder than needed." He informed when you dared not address the topic yourself.
"I know. So, what's the occasion for your attire? Are you attempting another gothic phase?" You joked with a small smirk, eyeing his clothes from up close and admiring the way he managed to look good in all black. It made him seem a bit more grown-up, contrasting his porcelain skin yet matching the colour of his ebony locks. His eyes were a nice addition. If you didn't know him, you'd think he was a college graduate, not a senior in high school.
"The funeral's right after classes end right? I thought I'd come since you'll be representing your family all alone. You were telling Hanji on the phone you didn't know anyone there, so now you'll know me." His voice, indifferent yet soft, made your stomach take a warm turn before a giant grin pulled at the corners of your mouth. You covered it with your hand as Levi met your gaze and added: "You'll have to introduce me as your boyfriend, though."
Oh God. This was it. You knew Levi. You knew his expressions and his voice and his eyes. And they told you what you'd been waiting for - a confirmation.
"Sure, it won't be hard." You showed him your grin with a small shrug just as the teacher entered the room, having shooed away all the girls in the hallway. You quickly pulled out your notebook and the coursebook you shared with Levi for the second school year in a row, placing them in the middle of your desk. You opened your notebook and stared at the empty lines with a smile.
Hello, this is my boyfriend, Levi. You giggled as quietly as possible and Levi shot you a questioning look.
"Just practising." His features didn't soften but his eyes shone abnormally in your direction - they were tender and so bright it could've been blinding, but you found it mesmerizing. Your heart fluttered in your chest and you felt Levi's hand on top of your own. You bit back a smile. It wasn't a success.
God, how I love this boy. The realisation that followed wasn't even something that you minded. It just made you smile harder. Because somewhere along the bored lines and the bright gaze you could see he loved you just as much.
"So, what in the fucking hell are you reading?" Your boyfriend's question brings you back to reality and you blink at him for a few seconds before having collected your thoughts. You look back down at the notebook. The sentence is highlighted in neon yellow and it's giving you a weird feeling.
"Just... Psychology." You answer simply, contemplating the end and the beginning. From indifference to love. From glances to being together. From strangers to lovers. And now...?
"And it's funny because?" He questions and in return you snort condescendingly.
"Well, because it's so stupidly inaccurate tha---" You look up and the word dies at the back of your throat. He's looking at you with confusion, but under that, there's a silver layer of warmth that makes your heart skip a beat. You gulp and laugh in spite of yourself, he raises an eyebrow. "You know what? I don't even know anymore."
"Are you okay?" He gets a hand through his ebony locks and you watch, as always mesmerized by the little gestures he performs.
"Perfectly fine." You give him a small smile as he looks at you expectantly. He knows you want to say something, that something's prodding at your thoughts. Spill the beans, his gaze tells. And you do. "Have I told you I love you?" You blurt out, borderline nervously. You feel weird but it's not because of him, it's because of the realisation that has dawned on you.
"Just yesterday actually." He informs casually and picks up his cup of tea. Only a tea-lover like him drinks it during the summer. Or a psychopath - it is yet to be decided. You eye him for a few seconds but pause right before responding.
"... good." You say with a soft smile. He meets your gaze and he's still clueless but somehow he's seen something that makes him utter a simple 'stupid' under his breath as he rolls his eyes. You say nothing in return to the subtle insult.
"So, are you going to next week's exam or sleeping?"
"The latter sounds tempting." You respond, making him snort.
"Of course it does."
"You?" You question back and his gaze meets yours, you feel the air of superiority around him and already know what he'll say.
"Yeah, and if I pass I have to wait for the winter exams." He explains boredly, twirling your pen in his hold as you close up your old Psychology notebook.
"Cool. I have to take it and two others. Then I can get some rest." You sigh longingly and he glares.
"And work done."
"Oh, don't bring it up." You roll your eyes and your shoulders sag in despair. Your boyfriend is not one to obey orders, he's usually the one to give them. His imperative gaze settles on your pleading one and he opens his mouth.
"You were the one who told me to start working on a fucking book. Better work on your own stupid paintings." He commands, making you groan in exasperation. If it wasn't for you he wouldn't be halfway done with his brick of a suspense novel, but if it wasn't for him you wouldn't be past your first painting. And you wouldn't have found a buyer for it. But now you have to do more paintings and you just can't figure out your muse. You've little to no motivation and the exams are stressing you out while your boyfriend sips on his tea and has the audacity to tell you to get your ass moving.
"Fine." You groan with finality, admitting your loss. "Sometimes I really hate your perfectionist ass, Levi."
"And sometimes I really hate your slothful ass, but opposites attract. That's what Hanji says right?" His grey hues glisten mockingly and you smirk.
"Often when you're mentioned, yes." You confirm, smug look melting into an affectionate expression as Levi grasps your hand and interlocks your fingers. "It's a little hot for that." You inform and when he starts to let go, you grab onto his fingers tightly and smile. "I never said you should let go." The pointed phrase meets only a huff as your boyfriend sips from his tea.
You meet his gaze and try to remember a time when you haven't been mesmerised by his eyes. There isn't such a moment. You become aware of the look he's giving you, your smile grows and your eyes soften. Three years later and he hasn't changed a bit. You catch yourself returning the affectionate gaze as a conclusion settles into your mind.
There is very little that can make you change your opinion on the matter of this stupid eye to soul connection.
Very little but it's there - efficient and determined.
And his name is Levi.
