Chapter 3 of Seven Rings, Seven Rivals is now up!

Alastor glides through the doors of a fancy hotel. This one is carved into red coral, and blue lighting splashes the trademark purple of Envy across the walls. The dim lighting shrouds the ceiling in darkness, which makes it appear higher than it actually is. Soft music plays in the background, tones pitched high and low blending into something melodious enough, but not something that he’d deem suited to a hotel lobby. Perhaps a spa, instead, like the one Rosie wanted to open once.

Revenge number 1 is finally had, the "shapeshifting" tag gets justified (and will be doing some heavy lifting), and the boys still can't work together.

Spider has lacked control over himself his entire life. He is human in everyone's eyes, and that goes further with being Q's son. He has suffered because of his outward appearance. been judged and rejected.

and that may never change, but he can make himself feel right in his own skin. he can change himself how he pleases. he can be in control. can look how he wants. for himself and no one else.

he'll mold himself into a whole new creature, one meant for the forest, one that is alien from both Human and Na'vi, one that is one of a kind. he'll paint his face until you can't find Q's face in it. he'll stretch and cut his ears till they no longer resembles a humans. he'll tattoo his stripes in place permanently.

it's an outlet for all the feelings in his chest. he has words for them. and understanding of what they are. a way to process all the stress and pain he's felt.

if those around him can't accept him as he is, he'll change himself till he's happy. and if someone tries to stop him, someone tells him they think he's perfect as he is, he'll be able to stand up for himself and say "it's not for you, it's for me. what makes me happy."

he's no longer confined to his people view him. no one gets to control him with critiques of his existence.

even if he never goes through with a major mod, just him dabbling helps him view his body as his own. as something to cherish and love, because others opinions don't matter and nothing is permanent and he can do as he pleases. he can decide to stay the same just as much as he can decided to alter it. he can have peace.

So my new headcanon for the end of Thrawn (2017) is that when Eli tells Thrawn that he's content to be Thrawn's aide because it's where he's supposed to be, and Thrawn responds with, "perhaps, perhaps not," ya know, like the cryptic asshole he is (affectionate), I like to think that Eli immediately whirls on him, and is like, "oh no, nuh-uh, that's your 'I'm about to uproot Eli's entire life' voice, WHAT ARE YOU PLANNING???" and Thrawn just gives him that smug little smile and says, "I have absolutely no idea what you're talking about, Lieutenant Commander," while absolutely *cackling* internally

Alastor's Territory

All Overlords own some kind of territory. Rosie has Cannibal Town, Vox has his TV company, so on and so forth.

Alastor's territory is people. He owns souls, obviously, all Overlords own souls as part of their territory. But then there are the people who owe him favors, or the people he considers useful, or the people he considers friends. All these people he's sort of collected over the years.

But it also means he isn't tied to one particular area of Hell. His people go everywhere, doing his bidding. Other Overlords may be more powerful or more well known, but Alastor has further reach.

Alastor As an Overlord in Hell

Much like in the show, Alastor runs a radio broadcast. Some days, it's a normal radio show, playing music and giving commentary on current events in Hell (Vox hates this for obvious reasons). And on other days, he's playing the screams of his latest victims, reminding sinners why he's not someone to be played with

But it's not enough for him to just have a radio show, his connection to radios goes further than that. It's like how Vox has a connection to all TVs in Hell, able to see through and transport himself through the various screens.

Alastor can hear through all radios in Hell. He eavesdrops on conversations, collecting information and blackmail on various sinners around Hell, in hopes of expanding his territory. Of course, he keeps this ability tightly under wraps; if everyone knew he could be listening, no one would own a radio ever again!

Alastor With Women

Alastor is still some flavor of asexual. For the most part, he doesn't have interest in that sort of stuff. But if he were to ever want sex, it would most likely be with a woman.

Alastor is very friendly with women. This is based on canon, where he has more positive relationships with women than he does with men. Some would interpret this as him just being a ladies man, but it's a bit more complicated than that.

For backstory related reasons, Alastor just has a general distrust of men (which is ironic because he is a man himself). And it certainly isn't helped when you realize he used to hang out at speakeasies when he was alive. He has plenty of experience with violent, drunken men, he knows what those bastards are capable of when they pound back enough liquor.

So with women, it starts off as him just being very protective over them. They are the "fairer sex" after all, how are they to defend themselves when a man is being violent towards them? But as he spends time with more and more women, he comes to respect them more and more for their capabilities.

Some women don't need his protection, as they are fully capable of protecting themselves. If something goes down, Alastor will hang back for a moment, assessing the situation as it unfolds, and then step in if it's getting out of hand. Less White Knight-ing basically. Oftentimes, he doesn't even have to involve himself, but when he does? It's not pretty.

So what of the men he's regularly seen with? Any man within his inner circle, like Husk, is held at a metaphorical arms length (metaphorical because in reality, he doesn't really respect other people's personal bubbles. He's a very touchy person). These men are only part of the inner circle because they work for Alastor; either he owns their soul, or they owe him a favor. If a man doesn't have one of those things, then Alastor has no reason to keep them around and will not waste time with them.

Angel Dust falls in a sort of gray area here. He doesn't owe Alastor anything, so Alastor shouldn't be wasting his time with that one... However, he's part of Charlie's hotel, which is the only piece of physical property that Alastor has claimed as part of his territory. So dealing with Angel Dust is technically hotel business. Same with Sir Pentious.

So a while back I watched the workprint for Hellraiser IV because like... it's so godawful, how could I not? And like. None of the sfx are really in the workprint since it's just the bare bones of the film, so that includes the weird voice deepening they do to Doug Bradley as Pinhead.

So now all I can think of is like... Pinhead breaking character when dealing with a particularly unsatisfying victim. "THE BOX. YOU OPENED IT, WE CAME. NOW YOU MUST EXPERIENCE THE ECSTASY OF PAIN AND SUFF- hold on a tic. No, hold on. You mean you've never even done a little S&M and you're jumping straight to summoning demons for sexual gratification? God almighty, what a fucking bellend... bleeding hell..."
