So I've been thinking about Yoshi meeting out favorite lawyers, and then of course, you mentioned that little nugget of info, that Foggy watched the rec league that she pitches for. And now I'm torn between "what if she meets foggy because of weird small world happenstance" and my original thoughts, which circled around her meeting them in a professional capacity.

Cause it's new york, I can totally see how she and Wendy could end up having to deal with some shitty landlord and seeking out legal assistance. Or maybe Yoshi decked someone he totally deserved it, and now he's trying to press charges (personally, I do think it's kinda funny the idea that Yoshi has, until that point, not really faced many consequences from her habit of solving problems with her fists). So she begrudgingly seeks legal representation. Or perhaps she's trying to sort through the process of applying for disability for Mariko.

And if Wendy was around for any of this? I think it'd be really interesting how she might react to Matt, cause well, it's complicated. His intentions? Generally good. But also he is dangerous, and has been involved in wild shit. I feel like she might be a bit distant and closed off, distrusting at first, just cause there's definitely something going on with him that isn't what it seems and it's a lot to try and figure just from a vibe check. And Yoshi is just generally vaguely distrustful and closed off to strangers.

Foggy crows about this whole situation, teasing that "finally! Beautiful women who aren't immediately charmed by Matt!"

But I can imagine that maybe, she starts to warm up to him after she mumbles something colloquial (and probably quite rude, or at least put of pocket) in Spanish. He hears and fails to completely suppress the snort, ends up sorta coughing on the sip of his coffee that he just took. She clocks this and thinks "hm he's alright maybe."

Or if they're helping Mariko get disability, maybe she has to leave for a moment, step into the other room briefly for a call, or whatever, and she comes back and he's talking softly to Mariko in Spanish. Since sometimes that's easier for her to understand and maybe respond to, and Yoshi sees that genuine gesture. Matt, unlike Gojo, definitely would be more understanding and empathetic learning about Mariko's condition - handles it better than most people.

I love the idea that Matt keeps coming back to being curious about 'that pitcher lady'. Sorta in denial about being interested, annoyed that he keeps randomly thinking about her and the definitely supernatural shit she had going on. Tells himself it isn't important, then justifies to himself that it makes sense to be concerned because she could be dangerous. After a week (or few) of being kinda distracted, finally manages to convince himself to move on from worrying about some random civilian, and then she walks in the office door.

Oooh I've thought about this too! I think Foggy only notices Yoshi in passing at the rev league, but has never spoken to her and it takes a moment for him to recognize her up close as that really good baseball pitcher.

My biggest problem with getting Yoshi to meet N&M normally is that they're all the way in Hell's Kitchen while she's either living in Queens or on the Lower East Side. So, they'd have to have a bit of a reputation already and she'd need a strong recommendation to seek out N&M...

But, besides that geographical question, I LOVE the idea of Matt helping out Mariko!! He would be so kind to her, because he can sense how anxious she is about new people and trying to communicate with them.

I have no idea how Wendy would react, tbh. I think Matt's vibes would be so wrong but also so right for the office life, she might put on her detective hat and investigate until she discovers Daredevil out of sheer insatiable curiosity. Or, she would avoid him like the plague because if he noticed too much about Yoshi and herself, he'd be the one uncovering dangerous secrets.

You bring light to the team, a contrast to all the chaos and darkness that often surrounds them.

You both become inseparable, always seeking each other out during downtime at the Avengers compound.

He loves that you’re a nerd - he's secretly just as invested in whatever you’re passionate about.

Music battles become a thing.

He’ll try to play random songs to see how fast you can recognize them (he’s both impressed and slightly terrified at how good you are).

You introduce him to gaming, and he loves it - especially fast-paced games like Sonic or Mario Kart (he always picks the fastest characters).

He has to be Sonic.

And in Mario Kart, he always has to be Bowser or Yoshi.

He really likes Yoshi.

If you ever come home from nursing shifts exhausted - because on top of being an Avenger, you work at the local hospital - he’s immediately there with snacks and a blanket, even if he teases you for overworking yourself.

Pietro quickly picks up on your people-pleaser tendencies.

He notices when you push yourself too hard and gently reminds you, "You know, it’s okay to say no sometimes, printessa.”

Pietro realizes he has feelings for you when he catches himself staring way too long while you’re laughing at one of his bad jokes.

You, on the other hand, take a little longer to recognize your own feelings.

You just love being around him - but then one day, you catch yourself wondering what it would be like to hold his hand, to be something more.

He gets so jealous when he sees you getting close to other guys, even if they’re just teammates.

He’ll zip over and casually insert himself into the conversation.

I guess I'll talk a little about Becky Little, since there's so little about her on Tumblr (or anywhere). She comes off as really smug (and honestly kind of is), but underneath she actually suffers from pretty bad anxiety and feels so much pressure to be "The Amazing Becky Little" all the time, and is terrified that she'll screw up and let everyone down. The events of the episode also made her realize that she was pushing her sister away without even meaning to by being pretty innocently insensitive, and from then on she tries to be less - for lack of a better word - kinda insufferable. And she does, and forms a better, closer relationship with Nicky, even if they don't live together anymore.

I love Yoshi's but with Gojo where she explains a bit about the binding vow between her and Wendy, and then that dumbass tries to tell her it's impossible. And she sasses him so much, it's great. But this means its established that her stuff is kinda different, maybe doesn't follow the same rules about how much cursed energy or not, and interacting with non-sorcerers.

So, with that in mind, I was mulling over the potential of her healing chocolate coins. And like, could they be given to or used by non-sorcerers? And I came to a couple ideas, the simplest solution, is that she imbues it with a given predetermined amount of her own cursed energy when she makes it, and the talisman could store it for use on a non-sorcerer or depleted individual. Another option, is that what if it was like a strange dream catcher - the longer a non-sorcerer carried it around, that over time it'd absorb and store whatever cursed energy that person did have, and then they could use it. Or, three, it could do some weird time bullshit, where it'd heal them then, but then over the next period of time, it'd collect ambient/the person's cursed energy until it made up that deficit and met the debt that had been incurred by the healing, and then poof, the talisman is dead and destroys itself.

All of this was a very very convoluted rambling thought that led back to the idea of mcu!Yoshi, because she would not give a single fuck that Peter Parker has a healing factor, that is a child. But also, would that mean she could also help heal Matt? Instead of actually healing his injuries or shit,, that dumbass would just,, use it so he could immediately go pick a fight with an entire mob gang, or pop it mid fight to avoid dying, but still end up dragging himself out of the aftermath beat to shit so bad he's still more dead than alive. Yknow, the kind of responsible and not at all self destructive choices he makes.

Oh, 100% this is how it works. It's imbued with a set amount of energy, to be used on whoever consumes it. I think it would work on anyone, though maybe not as efficiently on someone with very incompatible curse energy. (What makes them incompatible? Fuck if I know).

I like the dream-catcher function—I might use that for a different talisman down the line. As for incurring a debt through timey-wimey bullshit, it's a bit convoluted (tho when has that ever stopped me?), but anything that incurs a debt has to be explained to the individual. That's why Yoshi has to go talking to Naoya after she bit off his ear, and why she sits down with Kasumi in the middle of a fight. Does she explain things thoroughly or clearly? No. Does she do so in a timely manner? Also no. But, she does inform others when they make a deal, because that's a component of dealmaking.

Ironically, Yoshi has the same problem with eating a healing coin just to go fight some more, and that's why Wendy usually holds on to them. Matt is not allowed to carry his own chocolate coin. We have to give it to Foggy, and let him decide when it should be eaten. As long as he remembers it's not a regular chocolate coin, we're good.

Coincidentally, that was my roundabout way of coping with episode 1 of DD:BA. I was Not Happy about that first scene, but you know how we can fix it? Giving Foggy a way to totally cheat death survive that gunshot wound. And they made it pretty freaking hard, given the circumstances, so the best I came up with was ✨magic✨

As for Peter, he also runs the risk of forgetting that the coin isn't regular chocolate. And if this Peter is Jewish, it's even funnier if he mixes up the healing coin with regular chocolate gelt during the holiday season... It's a calculated risk. There's no downside to eating the coin when you're uninjured—I think the power just dissipates into the ether. But still funny, because someone eats a very nasty-tasting chocolate for no reason.

Well working or not, hello everyone! I’m your anonymous animation lover and fantasy nerd, here to talk about what I LOVE

What do I love right now you ask? Well that’s both an easy and hard question.

As I’ve already stated, I’m a huge fan of animation and fantasy.

I consider every star on my rainbow galaxy themed header to be a different universe. 

And I love to visit these universes on a day to day basis to escape the sometimes harsh reality that is life.

A majority of these universes have one thing in common that I wish our world had: MAGIC

Magic, spells, the wave of a wand (or hand, hands have magic too), glowing eyes, transformations, mythical creatures, you name it!

I wish our world had all of that!

But since we don’t, I rely on the movies, shows, and books that do have it to carry me through and bring me happiness when I need it most...

But back to talking about what I love now. 

At the moment, I LOVE Onward

To quote Belle from Beauty and the Beast: “It’s my favorite! Far off places, daring sword fights, magic spells, a prince in disguise!” 

Jk, of course. I know it doesn’t have ALL of that. But honestly it could… My point being, I think it’s amazing, and it’s what’s brought me joy everyday for the last year and a half

I could go on and on about how much I love Onward: why I think it deserves more attention, why Ian and Barley (but especially Ian) are some of the best characters Pixar has ever created, why I believe this world needs a continued story…but I’ll save that for another day.

In the meantime, what else do I really enjoy? what I also really enjoy on a day to day basis is Pixar in general, Winx Club, Yoshi, Tom Holland, the MCU, just to name a few…

I suppose if we’re talking fantasy, Winx is what really got me into it in the first place. When I was 11, I watched it for the very first time and ever since then, I haven’t let go. I don’t know where I would be without it.

I only hope to discover more fantasy, magic, and animation for years to come, especially on here. But for now, thanks for coming to my TED Talk, I will plan to be here as often as I can ✌️

I saw people make these "Avenge the Fallen" fan posters in honor of the THIRTY-TWO new movie posters for Avengers: Endgame that were released earlier this week, but with fictional characters who unfortunately died.

I could've used Bob Newby from Stranger Things, but not only did I see someone else do it on Twitter, but he wasn't the first character that came to mind. (Sorry, Bob. I do love you though you nerd!)

I couldn't find a decent "movie poster" image of him, but I am still not over Master Splinter's death in the Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles 2012 cartoon. I'm also not sure if anyone has done this one already, but Splinter is very fitting for this fan poster meme going around.

When it comes to MCU Spider Man, yes they did make changes, but those changes were heavily criticized by diehard comic fans that didn't like that Uncle Ben was a footnote and that Tony was Peter's surrogate father figure instead. While the movies were generally well-recieved, there was always that one faction that complained incessantly about how MCU Peter is too privileged because he has all this Stark tech helping him.

It's why there are fans like myself that feel a type of way about the ending to No Way Home (movie is almost 2 years old now so...) because we like the idea of Peter scaling back and being a friendly neighborhood Spider-Man again, but did he have to lose his ENTIRE support system in the process. No friends left over, nothing? We really gonna give Peter everything just to rip it away from him AGAIN?

That frustration is why I love TMNT's approach to adaptations so much. While there are some constants, everything surrounding them is fair game to change, and even the constants are flexible in how they can be portrayed. Splinter could be Hamato Yoshi's pet, his reincarnation, the man himself, or someone that has nothing to do with Hamato Yoshi. That shit is cool. Keeps me on my toes, and that's why I fucks with TMNT even though I got into it relatively later in life (I passed on the 03 series as a child).

I will always cite Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles as my reason for why comic book IPs that get multiple on-screen iterations shouldn't be afraid to make changes to what we know about the characters.

It's because of that that every iteration of the TMNT has a passionate fanbase that loves the shit out of their respective version.

Like, look at the different versions of Splinter (forgive any clerical errors as it has been a while since I've seen some adaptations)

A martial arts master that was mutated into a rat

A pet rat that studied the moves of his owner to learn martial arts before mutating

A man that lost his wife and daughter to Shredder, mutated into a rat, and sees the turtles as his second chance of having a family

A rat who along with the turtles, is the reincarnation of an ancient ninja warrior and his four sons

A man that adopted an inert, pacifistic lifestyle after being mutated against his will and forced to fight for 10 years.

A rat that just stumbled into a father role and is just doing his best, using martial arts training videos to teach his kids self-defense

And this is just Splinter. This makes TMNT fun every single time it gets a new adaptation, whether I end up liking it or not, and I wish comic book fans offered that same grace to other IPs.

2017-11-06 : In which Tony gets back from Afghanistan, and will not talk about it, thank you very much

Tony groaned as he once again found himself in their dreamscape. It wasn't that he wasn't happy to see Harry again, because he was! He always would be, especially considering the scarcity of their meetings, but... Harry had been giving him the eyes lately. The ones that said "I want to ask you something, but I'm giving you some space because I know what it feels like when people are incessantly asking questions you don't want to answer, but I'm worried about you, and if there's anything I can do to help I will, but I can't know because you won't tell me, and I'm super curious, so I won't hold out much longer" and yeah. Harry's gaze was very expressive, and not even turning his back on his friend could help Tony avoid the force of it.  

The thing was, Tony knew exactly what Harry wanted to ask about. Afghanistan. Fucking Afghanistan. And if Tony hadn't gotten enough questions about it from everyone else in his life, maybe he wouldn't have let Harry stew as he had. Maybe he would have opened up a bit.

In his least charitable moments, Tony liked to tell himself that that it was only payback for what Harry had put him through after his first death, and that maybe he'd learn his lesson properly this time. Tony didn't much like himself in those moments.  

In the end, Harry was the first one to break. "Please, talk to me," he said without preamble, in the middle of one of their conversations about their life goals and families.  

Tony was determined to remain obtuse. "I'm talking to you, aren't I?" he replied, unwilling to parse the true meaning of the words.  

Harry's expression was a study in subdued glaring. It was as though he was trying to be angry at Tony, but couldn't quite succeed, and was mad at himself for it. Tony didn't want his pity.  

"I've done nothing but talk lately, you'd be surprised at how exhausting it is to be me," he tried to redirect the conversation. "What with Pepper reminding me that SI depends on me, and Obie telling me what a fool I am, it's a wonder I've managed to get a word in edgewise."

It almost worked.

"Hmph," Harry snorted, "are we playing this competition again? The Wizenmagot still tries to remind me what a mistake it was to become Slytherin's head, and they all tell me I should replace Neville as Gryffindor's because clearly I could do so much better, and-"  

He abruptly interrupted himself, and Tony winced as he knew his scheme hadn't worked. "But we're not talking about me, we're talking about you," he continued, glare now fixed, and seemingly immovable. "You're not dealing, and I can see it."

"Come on, pumpkin, didn' twe agree to ignore that kind of stuff?" Tony whined, now giving up on all pretenses

And then Harry throws back at Tony some of the words he'd told him right after his death at Voldemort's hands, or Cedric's death. Tony gets angry, and talks about how their situations are completely different, and nothing gets solved that night after all .Cue Tony going on an insomniac binge, and sleeping at proper times for him (time diff means Harry will surely be awake so he won't have to see them). Except he can't escape Harry's words no matter what, and it chafes, because he refuses to believe Harry's right, because unlike Harry, Tony made his enemies, armed them even. And people are dead and it's his fault
