With the official confirmation from Paramount that there IS going to be an official TV series based on Mutant Mayhem, Tales of the TMNT, that will bridge the gap between MM and it’s sequel(two seasons long), what’re your thoughts? Do you think this’ll hamper any hope for a potential third season of Rise, or do you feel that people shouldn’t be harsh on it and appreciate it for being it’s own thing(I’m very much the latter lol)?

LONG post is LONG, but I really wanted to drive home the importance of this.

I don’t really have an opinion on the Mutant Mayhem show, TBH. I knew it was coming, because Nickelodeon is banking on MM to be a big hit, and it’s not that weird for them to try and squeeze as much money as they can from a new IP. The fact that this new series is going straight to paramount plus and not on Nickelodeon’s main channel is…confusing (Unless it’s actually going to Nickelodeon, in which case, so what? If Nickelodeon can have THREE different versions of SpongeBob airing on their channel, then I don’t see what excuse they can make for not having two versions of the TMNT out simultaneously. They’ve done it before too. 2012 and the Bay films were happening at the same time).

As for Rise, I don’t think hating on Mutant Mayhem or on its related shows is going to do much good. If anything, it’s going to create a divide between incoming fans of Mutant Mayhem, older Rise fans, and Rise fans that are looking forward to more TMNT content. If the show does air on Nickelodeon, it’s not like the kids watching it are going to know the discourse surrounding Rise. Review bombing, hating, and leaving bad faith reviews on anything Mutant Mayhem related isn’t going to bring Rise back. And it’s going to give Rise fans a bad rep, which will end up hurting Rise more, because no one would want to give a show a chance if its fan base is seen as toxic.

Trust me, no one wants Rise of the TMNT to come back more then I do, but I’m not going to go around discouraging or hating on on anyone that is excited for Mutant Mayhem. It’s one thing if you watch and don’t enjoy it, or choose not to support it, I’m not here to force anyone to do anything they don’t want to do, and it’s normal for people not to like something sometimes. If it isn’t for you, it isn’t for you. That happens. But hating it with a passion and posting that everywhere does nothing helpful for Rise.

The best thing would be if new TMNT fans and Rise fans came together to save the show. If more people knew about Rise, the movie, and if enough content keeps the fandom alive, raises interest in the show online, and keeps the show/movie from being fading away into the background, there’s a chance. The bigger the following Rise has, the more people asking for its return, the higher the chances. The more alive it is across social media, the better. What we need more then anything really, is visibility. Not enough people know about Rise. Danny Phantom still has a big following to this day, still has more people giving it a chance because the fans love it enough to keep it going. And people are seeing that. Watch Mojo released a video recently about shows that deserve to come back and Danny was on that list. Spectacular Spider-Man still gets new videos made of it all the time, and the fans STILL, even after all these years, ask for more.

We’re in an interesting position. I don’t think ANY other fandom has ever said, “Heck it! We’ll make our OWN season! Ya JERKS!” So support each other, keep asking for more Rise, keep making art, social media posts, videos, ask Cinema Wins and Cinema Therapy to review the movie, keep sharing and signing the petitions, recommend it to people, anime fans, non TMNT fans (I wasn’t a fan of TMNT until Rise), animation fans and so on. Always ask for the original producers, Ant Ward, Andy Suriano, writers, cast and crew to come back. Word of mouth is a powerful thing. The more people make an effort, the better. And don’t give up. Giving up is the one true for Rise fade away.

TLDR: No, hating on MM will NOT help Rise. BUT! Continuously making efforts to bring back Rise, support each other, raise awareness/visibility, will.

There are things in the fandom that I don't like seeing too, but I save myself the headache and trouble by just filtering them out so I never have to see them again, and then I'll move on.

And as for Gi-hun "not being gay", we don’t know that for sure. We don’t have concrete evidence that he is or isn’t queer, and that’s what makes fandom such a great space for creative interpretations. Characters, especially in complex stories like Squid Game, leave room for different readings of their identities.

I personally headcanon Gi-hun as bi, but I’m not gonna get my panties in a twist if someone headcanons him as gay or anything else. Hell, I’m not gonna be upset if someone headcanons him as straight, either. Everyone in the fandom is allowed to express their interpretation of a character. If you don't like the Gi-hun ship content, then go ahead and filter it. It's that simple. It will make fandom much more enjoyable for you.

depends on if you mean lore-wise or gameplay-wise!

lore-wise, i think you can learn about parabola as early as the flit if you pursue the cats and bats plotlines enough. there's also a ton of stuff referencing and relating back to it the more you explore, so you're bound to run into at least one mention of it eventually. it's kind of the neath's worst kept secret. like. to the point where i think we all kinda forget it's a secret in the first place.

gameplay-wise, establishing a parabolan base camp and unlocking the ability to traverse to-and-fro parabola is one of the major milestones to hit in early-midgame and mid-midgame (as odd as that phrase sounds) progression. it's not something you necessarily need to beeline for, but it's definitely something you'll want to put high on your to-do list after becoming A Person Of Some Importance.

the main function of parabola early on is acting as a sort of "advanced skill bootcamp" where you can level your glasswork, APoC, etc, with more functions and goodies unlocking as you upgrade and explore more in-depth with it. you likely won't find yourself heavily relying on it for a good while, but speaking as an endgame player; build your basecamp. upgrade your basecamp. invest in your basecamp. you will thank yourself so much for doing both, Especially the latter. the wounds and nightmares reductions alone are both Super Worth It.

overall though, if you haven't even built your laboratory or gotten a ship yet, Do Both Of Those First. and if you don't even have them as options... parabola is something you shouldn't even be worrying about right now. don't sweat it. play the game at your own pace. it'll still be there when you get there.

Catching on, Danny stares. "You think one of her curses got away and formed a humanoid form, not much different from city spirits."

Nodding, golden glow follows the words the laughing magician speaks, answering his question with the usage of ash.

Danny looks away, knowing the spell already and meets the whites of a domino mask.

Okay I've settled in and now I really wanna talk about all the parts of TNP that I actually REALLY loved.

Mind you all, this is my first impression of ZeeNuNew together on-screen because I'm new to Thai BL and haven't had a chance to watch any of their other stuff yet. So I don't have anything to compare this to outside of stage performance edits of them, which I largely didn't understand much about because I hadn't seen them work together.

Right off the bat, I was SO impressed with NuNew. That man has mastered the art of microexpressions, he is SO GOOD at them. The scene where Charan low-key stalked Khanin after his match and then gave him unsolicited advice? His gasts were FLABBERED.

The scene where they bumped into each other in the hall after Charan came to live with them under mysterious circumstances? I love how much Khanin just Does Not Like This Man!!!!! He just showed up and started following him around and then waltzed into his home life with no explanation and refuses to answer his questions and my boy is NOT having it. Smart. I love a man who doesn't trust a shady situation. We would so get along.

But what really hit me hard was when the truth finally broke. That was genuinely some amazing devastation we were witnessing. Poor Khanin's entire life was crumbling out from under him with a few uttered words. The pleading to just be his son and not some secret fated prince from a far away land.... absolutely gut wrenching bro. I was hurting for that poor man.

I was impressed eith Zee as well, but I felt like we didn't get to see him stretch his acting muscles quite as much for the first episode. He was pretty dedicated to his role as quiet and broody, but I will say the awkward moment when Khanin learned their shared kiss just sealed their fates together for eternity was absolutely top tier. The way he left and came back just to chug water in the absence of anything to say. 10/10 lmfao.

To celebrate the one year anniversary of the Rise of TMNT Movie, what is something you love the most about it that you don’t see anyone either talking about as much, or at all?

LONG POST COMING! Two things really…

1. The Lack of Romance in it.

I’ve seen one too many great shows be ruined by shipping, and one thing that annoys me more then anything is when you have a girl/woman and they’re almost always relegated to a love interest role. Almost every kid’s TV show (and a LOT of adult oriented ones) has to have a romantic element in it, but I’ve yet to see a single one that actually has a good one (besides Kim Possible, but that’s only because we were allowed to see the characters in a healthy, stable relationship). The fact that neither April, Sunita, Casey, Karai, nor Big Mama had to be pigeonholed into a romantic interest role is such a big plus for me. Even though Big Mama was later revealed to have had a relationship with Splinter, she was set up as a character first. Not only that, but each of the women are unique, funny, allowed to be a part of the action without anyone else telling them to step back, and have interesting or strong bonds with the group they are part of. If they do ever bring Rise back, I hope they continue to not focus on romance at all, straight, gay, or otherwise. Even though I joke about the boys falling for someone and Leo being bisexual, I wouldn’t want it. The focus on family, on brother/sisterhood, is so healthy and wonderfully depicted in this show. It’s rare to see something that reminds you that love doesn’t have to be romantic to be powerful.

2. The fact that the show is silly.

TMNT has always been silly. Even back in the first comic, though things were a lot more violent, it was clear that this was a spoof to make fun of how comically (pun intended) dark certain comics were at the time. Nowadays, a lot of people believe that for a show to be worth something it has to be serious in order to be taken seriously. I think that’s a load of baloney. The whole reason why the Marvel cinematic universe did so well is because it isn’t serious. It’s full of goofy jokes, characters, and moments where the heroes rise up regardless of their numerous failures. Avatar is one of the most beloved shows out there and its main character is a goofy kid, a overly logical genius that couldn’t’ get anything right in the beginning, and a sarcastic, hopeful stick in the mud. The first few episodes talks about a war and then shows a single kid literally prancing his way out of a dangerous predicament. The best shows are the ones that understand that balance. That life is, for the most part, light hearted and full of silly, often ridiculous moments. These shows also realize that when the threat is real, it’s time to get serious. Rise has that balance, just like the original Teen Titans did. Older TMNT fans really went against the one thing that is this show’s greatest strength. Stories that endure the longest, are the ones that are fun, but know how to affect you emotionally. That’s why TMNT is still a thing after all this time. And Rise handles the emotions well, only because we’ve seen the characters at their happiest. Because then, when things get real, we’re heartbroken that they don’t succeed, that they’re suffering. We want them to be happy again, just like we do in real life when times are tough. It’s no wonder so many people love Rise and say that it got them through tough times. The show knows what it’s doing.

Cam let himself into Zee’s room one night after work, discarding his work shirt in the laundry hamper. It was wet with warm rain from the short walk from his car to the apartment. The summer storm continued to drive against the windows. He pulled one of Zee’s tee shirts out of a drawer and sat on his bed.

“Hey. Can I ask you something?”

Zee looked up, a flash of uncertainty in his eyes. “Sure.”

Cam told himself anyone who was asked a question like that felt slight discomfort. It wasn’t because it was coming from him. He pulled the clean shirt over his head.

“When did you start to like it?”

It was out of the blue, but it had to be. He didn’t know how else to bring it up. He dreaded the answer he might get, but it would feel better than the speculation he’d been suffering in lately.

“When did I start to like what?”

“You know what,” he said quietly. Seriously. “With me.”

“Oh.” Zee thought for a moment, looking back and forth between Cam’s eyes. There was a pit of unease in Cam’s stomach that gnawed all day and only grew stronger at night. He felt it now. It made his heart beat faster.

“When I knew what you were doing,” Zee answered.

“What do you mean?”

“Well at first…” he switched off his tablet and repositioned on his bed so he was facing Cam more directly, his legs crossed beneath him. “Look, I wasn’t opposed to it. I never was. I just didn’t know how far you’d take things. I didn’t know if you’d try to hurt me with it. Like, is this sex or is it going to turn into something else?”

Cam nodded. That was more than fair. He’d thought Zee might say it was all a part of the hurting. That it was just more violence in a different form. His own thoughts paced in circles telling himself it wasn’t, it was, it wasn’t.

“If you’d asked,” Zee added, “really asked, I would’ve said yes.”

I’m sorry was on Cam’s tongue, but it felt vile. He said nothing.

“And it wasn’t something else,” Zee said gently, trying to reassure him. Reassure him. It was absurd. “You never hurt me with that, Cam. It was fucked up. I see that. Back then I was… not myself, a lot of the time. What was I gonna do, turn you down? But I’m not mad at you. I was just a little afraid of you still.”

“I’m sorry.”

He could say it for that part, for some reason. He was sorry he ever made Zee afraid of him when they were alone. He still couldn’t say it for the other thing.

“I know,” said Zee. “I can’t tell you it’s okay, but… you and me are okay.”

“Yeah. Well, I’m glad about that.”

“Did Alex bring it up again or something?”

“No,” Cam answered, pressing his fingers over his eyes. He had barely seen Alex this last week. Their schedules were fairly different. Now even Zee was working, albeit from home. He kept saying it was nothing much, that it was just an hourly gig, but Cam overheard Alex telling him it wasn’t “nothing much,” it was a leaps-and-bounds accomplishment considering the damage they’d done to his reading, and how hard he’d worked to regain it. Most importantly, it gave Zee some money of his own that wasn’t a gift from a former keeper, and a daily sense of purpose.

“I’m just stuck in the past right now, I think,” said Cam, just to say something.

“You’ve kind of made a lot up to me, you know.”

He winced. “How can I ever really make it up to you, though? How can I make it up to myself?”

Make it up wasn’t even the right words. He wanted to pay for it. There was no way to pay for it.

“I’ve wondered that, too,” Zee told him. “I’ve done more than one stupid thing in my life that I’m reminded of every single day.”

“Stupid isn’t the same as mean.”

Zee stared at his dresser in the corner before deciding whether or not to ask him something. “Why were you so mean? I remember trying really hard to be whatever you asked me to be. I get why the other stuff happened between us. I really do. I was there. But I still don’t get that part.”

Cam shook his head. “I dunno. I resented you. Not for who you are, I didn’t know you yet. Just for… being. Once you got there I kind of couldn’t stand to look at you. I think because I knew it wasn’t right. The conditioned responses and stuff kind of freaked me out. And, I think I wanted you to myself, and in order to be okay with the arrangement, I went with the part of me that resented you.”

Zee was looking at him calmly, indulgently. “I guess. I do wish it could’ve been a little different. I had Alex and Dom. They kept a lot on the rails for me. Kept me from, I don’t know, totally despairing, I guess? You guys made a frat house feel like a prisoner of war camp sometimes. It would’ve been awesome to have you, too.”

The gnawing grew stronger, spread outward and felt like missing a step on the stairs and nearly falling. Gutted, was the word he was looking for.

“I wish I could go back,” he said. He was pretty sure he meant it. That if he could press a button and have to relive all the bad parts of that year and a half over again, he wouldn’t hesitate. “I’d do it differently. I mean, I wouldn’t buy a boxie in the first place…”

“Don’t say that,” Zee said, widening his eyes for effect. “You guys were still a better deal than I might’ve gotten a lot of other places.”

“Okay, well, day one then. I’d… do it different. But I can’t.”

“That’s what regret is. It means you would if you could. But you can’t.”

“And what do I do about that?” he asked flatly, to no one in particular.

“I don’t know.” Zee laid back against his pillows and put his legs across Cam’s lap. “But if you figure it out, let me know, would you?”

How do you think Gi-hun would react if he found out Jun-ho knew who In-ho was the whole time and never told him?

Hi! Thanks for the ask! To answer your question, I believe Gi-hun’s reaction would depend entirely on how and when he finds out. Because emotional control and thought processing are influenced by context. If Jun-ho tells him directly in a calm moment, where Gi-hun has time to process, he would be hurt and upset but able to think before reacting. His natural empathy would kick in, allowing him to rationalize that Jun-ho was protecting his brother rather than intentionally deceiving him. He might still need space or lash out verbally, but after some time, but once he has time to process it, he would reach out and want to hear Jun-ho out.

However, if Gi-hun finds out in a moment of high stress, especially if the information comes from someone else, his emotions would take over before logic has a chance to catch up, making him react impulsively. People who have experienced trauma often have an overactive fight-or-flight response, which means their brains perceive emotional threats in the same way as physical danger. Instead of calmly processing betrayal or distress, their nervous system kicks into survival mode, pushing them to either lash out or completely shut down and distance themselves. Since Gi-hun has already been through extreme betrayal and life or death situations, this kind of emotional shock would likely send him straight into a reactive state, making him act on instinct rather than reason.

It's like if a husband were cheating on his wife.

If the husband tells his wife outright that he has been having an affair, she would be upset, but she would be able to rationalize and think about what she should do.

However, if the wife walks in on her husband plowing into another woman in their bed, all rational thoughts would fly out of her head. This is why more often than not wives end up killing their husbands and husband's mistress after catching them in the act.

And since Jun-ho failed to tell Gi-hun the truth when he had the chance, I think we're going to get a "drop a truth bomb" moment. My prediction is that In-ho will be the one to reveal this information, if only to emphasize his point that human beings are capable of selfishness, like, "Oh, you thought he was your ally? He actually kept this important information from you."

This makes even more sense in the context of writing a drama, where tension and conflict need to be heightened for emotional payoff.
