Years after the war and their reconciliation, Azula helps Zuko ruling the Fire Nation. They are a respected couple of rulers and have developed a special bound overs the years.

Here, they are posing for the official royal painter of the Court or maybe it's one of the first daguerreotype in Fire Nation? An invention from Teo's father, maybe? Hearing of it, Azula insisted on having one with her and Zuko to make it clear to everyone that the Fire Lord isn't the only one in charge!

What jobs do you think they (Zuko and Azula) would have?

Like Nichya, I think modern Zuko and Azula can't really be anything but rich trustfund kids who don't have to work and get up to all sorts of mischief because of it.

Though I do think either of them being forced to work as, idk, waiter or something, would make for some great comedy 😂😂

I genuinely struggle to imagine them being anything but rich kids that don't need to work at all.

It also leaves that dark and unexplored territory for the fans to actually think and write about without being tied to canon! That has to count as a positive as well.

I just joined the ATLA fandom in april and I actually started to follow your blog for your takes on zvt4ra (I am from Peru and most of the spanish speaking fandom root for them) I had never thought about zucest before but your takes made me interested on them, and now I feel frustrated for the fact that Atla was made as a children show, if it had been made for a more mature audience (like Game of thrones) with the same characters, but older, it could have explored more dark themes related to w4r, 4abuse and even taboo topics, the potential was there.

Honestly, while I understand the desire for a more "grown" version of ATLA and I do share it, the show being aimed at children was probably for the best considering what happened to GOT and how shit the Neftlix version turned out.

I'll take "there was potential that wasn't explored" over "generic 'dark' show with bad writing" any day.

It's been a rough few weeks! Never have I taken this long to complete a chapter, but this is a monster of a chapter! As the title might reveal, this is a heartbreaking one!

Being busy sucks. Having to reconsider many story details and make sure they all track also sucks. It also didn't help that I had such an awful case of writer's block for so long.

It took weeks before I was able to write more than 500 words I was happy with, and I think I have to thank @loiseau-lyre for reinspiring me with her own work! The Death of the Phoenix now has a very strong foundation moving forward, and I'm really looking forward to writing some more!
