Hi. You can call me R. My pronouns are she/her.This is your warning that this blog has no theme and I will post sporadically with no rhyme or reason. I also curse if that makes you uncomfortable. No racists, ableists, homophobes, pedophiles, terfs, swerfs, prolifers, etc. You disgust me.

This YouTube comment has been on my mind since I finished SOTR so this is what I came up with:
Lucy Gray was the mockingbird, living on the outskirts of district 12 and was there at the wrong time when they were forced to stay there after the Dark Days. They were subjected to the Capitol’s politics despite not being a part of Panem, technically speaking. Lucy Gray became part of the Games and, likewise, the mockingbird became affiliated with the Capitol through the jabberjay’s release into the woods, but it still continued to sing its own song.
Haymitch was the jabberjay, a Capitol tool that did what it had to in order to survive. The Capitol thought they could control them, but they retaliated in the form of rebellion. Haymitch refused to be a piece in their game and tried to end it, and the jabberjay, in the eyes of the Capitol, created a freak of nature that showed the Capitol’s lack of complete control.
Katniss was the mockingjay, a slap in the face of the Capitol, something that was never meant to exist. Together, the song of the mockingbird that lived on for generations and the stubbornness of the jabberjay that refused to die, the mockingjay had the best of both worlds. It was a symbol of rebellion and unity.

The doubling of tribute numbers. The miscarried Abernathy twins. The Donner sisters who Haymitch carries a fascination for as consequence. Louella being replaced by Lou Lou, a name that only mimics the first half of her name, and a girl who matches her in appearance only. Tam Amber’s set of pins, one dropped down a well, the other discarded. The two versions of the games: the one that Haymitch remembers and the edited, falsified version of them without the real content. The two bags of gumdrops. The fraternal affection he feels for Louella and Lou Lou, the artificial twins, and Maysilee’s offer to be his sister—the second one she gives in the book. A bond with a real twin, both pairs healing the sisters he never did know. The split between what is natural and what is manufactured or forged, bonds that that grow on their own, or are forced into existance. And if the distinction makes any difference to the person it impacts.

I can’t help thinking that all the little ones seem to end up with me. Louella. Lou Lou. Ampert. I can’t keep a one of them safe. Why do they flock to me?

Why when you ask some Christians to respect other religions and practices, do they think you're asking them to denounce their god?

don’t know who needs to hear this but AO3 comments section is not Letterboxd. giving unsolicited criticism to a fanfic writer does not make you a “fanfic critic” because there’s no. such. thing.
giving unsolicited criticism to a fanfic writer just makes you a spoiled, rude, entitled asshole at best, makes the author stop posting their works altogether at worst.
a reminder that it’s always okay to just stop reading and quietly click away from a fic if at any point you feel like you don’t like it for whatever reasons. unless specifically asked, there’s no need to tell the author, whose work you read for free, how you dislike something they wrote for themself for fun.

Brands still supporting LGBTQ+ youth??
So as a nonprofit we know corporate Pride and rainbow-washing isn't everything - that's why we do tons of community-sourced fundraising like Digital Pride. But with quite a few brands pulling back their support for DEI programs, Pride month, and nonprofit donations this year, we've been seeing a lot of you ask which brands and companies are still out there supporting our community?
We make a list of our major Brand Partners every year so you can see which brands chose to invest support in LGBTQ+ youth specifically - and that's out now! This year's list of major partners includes long time allies and some new ones, too:
American Eagle
MAC Cosmetics VIVA GLAM
Converse
Elf Cosmetics
Bungie Foundation
Banter
Zenni Optical
Sam Edelman
Humble Bundle
Juliette Has A Gun
Nature's Path Organic
Puttshack
Second Pride
Renfrew Pro
Nahvalur
Ardell
Hampton Water
The Good Patch
Pop Sockets
VooDoo Doughnuts

reminder that "allies welcome" was once secret code for "those not out yet can still participate without putting themselves at risk", and for those who aren't out yet to comfortably exist in these spaces you have to let allies exist in those spaces too.

much love to ‘i love my blorbo but they did all that’ but there should be a new category of ‘i love my blorbo but they were written by someone with transparent but unspoken biases and you gotta understand that context’
