4 🌟's (BLURB BELOW) One of the nicest books I've read in awhile. 😊 It's gotta be teen "chick-lit" over "general" chick-lit, the last one of those I read was trash...😒 Who knew a YA rom-com revolving around arranged marriage would be so good! The characters are immensely likeable & goofy, whilst it's full of nerdy references - perfect for fans of the book Geekerella. It's also a gentle look inside another culture; so I think it's great that this book's been so popular. (BLOG LINK IN BIO) ... MEET Dimple Her main aim in life is to escape her traditional parents, go to university & begin her plan for tech-world domination. MEET Rishi He's rich, good looking & a hopeless romantic. His parents think Dimple us the perfect match for him, but she's got other plans... Dimple & Rishi may think they have each other figured out. But sometimes when opposites clash, live works works even harder to prove itself in the most unexpected ways.

3⭐'s Ouch, sorry - I don't quite feel this lived up to the hype following it's awards & current abundance of nominations, BUT, it is definitely a story that needed to be told & a book that must be read.. As I'll honestly admit; I knew nothing about the REAL Underground Railroad. (It's a hard review to do as I honestly forgot to write this up as soon as I finished the book!) I guess I feel like, whilst parts are very brutal & honest in how graphically they're portrayed, that it still could have pushed that portrayal further; dare I say, have been more bold. But the gritty truth is there; this part of slavery's past that has not just had the light shed upon it, but the whole goddamn spotlight, & for that, Whitehead richly deserves all his praise.

2⭐'s (BLOG link in BIO) So I picked this for any easy, fun, summery, read & it, well...sort of...delivered. There is a sense of fun to the story, but it felt a bit lacklustre to me, & coupled with a lot of typos & an unlikeable main character, I'm sad to say it was like a well executed dive into it's own Ibizan pool; that turned into a painful, cringe-inducing bellyflop. But, I think it's probably great for people who are just holiday readers, or who are much more into the "chick-lit" genre than me, or even reality TV fans...

5 🌟 stars! What a beast of a book! I’d suggest reading it in parts like I did 👍, or mmaayybbee not if you’re scared of clowns or spiders… But this epic is well worth the literary trek - thrilling, horrifying, (warning) gory, yet scarily addictive.
If you love King & want to give yourself goosebumps & thrills, read this tomb of a novel & prepare to sleep with the lights on… 💀🤡🕷️🕸️

4 🌟's. For a book with such an uninspiring cover, I was shocked by how interesting I found it & how quickly I raced through it! For me it was a sort of morbid fascination, because here's this factual account of something so extreme it should be fiction, about a people, place & culture across the pond that I wasn't aware of as white, British & middle-class. This book is great because it truly emphasises the importance of family/role models & the powerful impact a place & the economy can have on the growth of a person. More importantly it addresses the stigma that surrounds this "hillbilly" community & how it's ironically enforced by them themselves; that because of where they are & who they are, they can't be achievers or prosper. Then this book shows, in it's grandest message, the power of someone supporting another, of familial love, of going against the grain & trying to better yourself. (Although I think I was supposed to have taken away a stronger message about economy & politics...)

4 🌟's This surprised me! I'm not normally tempted by Waterstones' Crime Books of the Month, but I took a chance on this & loved it. It just kept me going - just one more chapter, than another! As a crime/thriller, if I try & tell you just why it's so good I'll give too much away...So I'll keep it brief... This is one for those of you who like Paula Hawkins (Into the Water/The Girl on the Train) & want something a step up from that, but still an easy, dare I say, mass market, read. A book full of greatly created atmosphere & environment, with smart, short, snappy chapters, believable characters, edge of your seat criminal mystique & a detective whose footsteps you'll want to follow...

2 ⭐️'s I wish I could have given this more stars, but I think the bar was set too high after loving Christina's previous books: Alice & Red Queen. (READ THEM!) I was SO excited for another topsy-turvey, stomach turning thriller, & unfortunately this just didn't deliver for me. But I really love the idea behind it; the twist on the Peter Pan/Captain Hook relationship & especially this alternate representation of Pan as a "baddie". I also really liked the character of Jamie (through whose eyes & voice the story is told) & felt quite attached to him. But, sounding a little, wweelllll, rather crazy - it just wasn't dark enough for me! Lets just hope that my high expectations are met with her 2018 novel, & that Christina gets back on form with her trademark horror & gore...
