Tumblr media
NETHERLANDS ( Amsterdam ) :
"DeepHouseAmsterdam" finally did something, i had in my mind for a long time. They collected the most funny Facebook-posts of DJs they found. I am laughing about Homework, Detroit Swindle or Andhim nearly every day, and apparently I am not the only one! Check out this article, it's really worth it!

INTRODUCING: DETROIT SWINDLE - BOXED OUT
NETHERLANDS ( Amsterdam ) :
“ Going further and deeper than the collection of club-ready tracks that you find on their EPs, the album touches on hip hop, deep house and classically inclined vocals. Importantly, though, it’s all glued together by an irresistible sense of swing. Every drop is perfectly poised, every guest vocal is expertly finished and the lush chords that tie it all together shoot straight for your soul.“ - Mixmag Interview

GUESTMIX #001 - TONARMEE
In addition to this interview, Max and Hendrik recorded a wonderful DJ Set.
-----------------------------------------------------------------------------------
INTERVIEW
I discovered Tonarmee in october when you played at Kallias Labelnight in Hamburg and I have to admit, that your sound fitted best to my personal taste of music. Your first set was the one I enjoyed most during the whole evening. For all the others out there - can you give a ruff description, what the „Tonarmee Sound“ is like?
It is always a little bit hard to talk about oneselves but i think we are very influenced by a lot of different genres and we always discover new music through our friends, the internet or record stores but i think it is really much in between house and techno. But some things we are really into are maybe strong kick drums , lovely synthesizers, organic percussions and a nice little tent of deepness and energy. And of course there are always those special tracks we are really into for some reasons we don’t know by ourselves. I know that’s not a real precise description but probably the best we have.
Although you haven’t released much until now, you are quite well recognized all over Germany, which might be borrowed to your beautiful DJ Sets.
Am I right, when I say, that you are more into creating long, musical stories then punching out one 6 minutes banger after the other?
That is a thing that has really changed a lot during the past years. When we started deejaying we always had those crowd pleasers in our sets but when you get more and more into music you will realize that there is so much more beautiful music out there, apart from the stuff you have heard from the festivals you've been to and the parties you went to, because you have always seen just a small part of the big music community and just the releases which were up-to date. But we do have to thank our close friend and booker Marcel, who always try to give us the opportunity to present our sets to people around germany.
You are living and working in europe’s capital of electronic music: Berlin.
What does it mean to you, as two young artists, to live in the city with the most diverse influences and best opportunities for creatives, but also with the most powerful competitors?
First of all, I think it is not such a big thing for us to live in Berlin because we have never lived somewhere else. It’s just home. We are really happy how the city changed, we do have some incredible artists here but i think they are more inspiration than competition.
Fortunately, I had the chance to receive a promo of your remix for Bebetta’s „Do Kraja“ EP.
You really destroyed it - in the best way possible!
The original is already quite good, especially the vocals are outstanding, but the highlight is definitely your remix.
Can you explain how the remixing process developed and what the vocals are about?
And - of cause - when is the long awaited released date?
-----------------------------------------------------------------------------------
---------------------------------------------------------------------------------------
We spend a lot of time with our friend Anika (Bebetta) at the Aerophilia Festival last year and we talked about her first EP on Kallias and she send us the files. After we got the files from her, we were jammin’ around with the samples when we got that catchy house chord and from that minute on we had the groove for that song. We showed it to our friend Anton who is much more experienced in producing music than we are and he helped us out with some mixing and filter issues. The release-date was the 31 of march on the label Kallias but concerning the vocals we got to say that we didn’t lift the secret after the whole time. We always thought that they sounded nice in an exotic way. Sometimes the content can destroy your feelings anyways:)
I guess, you are not listening to Techno and House music all the time.
Please describe your musical way to Techno & House and what do you like to hear, besides that genre?
That really depends on our mood. There is always music in our WG and most of the time the selection is pretty random:) Concerning house and techno we do have our favorite artists but we love to be surprised. Maybe through friends, record-stores or extended youtube-safaris.
Ok, so now the obligatory questions for featured artists at 4/4 International:
How would you describe the scene in your city and where do you think our genre is going to?
Do you like what happens right now, for example Tech-House being in the charts ( Klingerade, Faul or Wankelmut ) ?
I guess what’s really nice about Berlin is that you really can find everything that fits your taste. We do have great record stores, good clubs and some serious independent labels here.
I think the guys in the charts do have their own genre maybe something like customized music but we don’t think that they destroy the Techno-scene.  Some of them have never been part of it and some others just have had a song which got really famous. I don’t want to judge whether this is good or not good i think every artist should think about what’s their Intention behind music.
Last question: Why „Tonarmee“ ?
This pun reminds me of these Chinese soldiers made out of clay.
( Ton = ger. for tone/sound or clay, Armee = army )
When we started Deejaying we needed a name. we hardly thought about everything and chose tonarmee. We developed the word from the Tonarm of a turntable when we tried to find the plural word. And you need to know that this was about six years ago long time ago…;)
But this won’t be the last name for us releasing music.
Thank you very much for the interview!

Pig & Dan ELV012 [Review]
Tumblr media
When I opened the e-mail, I was...very...happily...surprised. A promo from two techno-bears, who could easily take part in a motorbike-gang. But instead, they produce clear, thrilling, breath taking minimal techno.
---------------------------------------------------------------------------------------
INFO
Pig & Dan
1. Slash
2. Where The Wild Things Are
(ELEVATE) ELV012
Release: 24.03.14
---------------------------------------------------------------------------------------
---------------------------------------------------------------------------------------
SLASH
Ouuuu Yeeeeah this is an ace. A bumping and really lush baseline, straight forward hi-hats and mind confusing...sirens ? Something really heavy rolls in the deep, attached to some delightful thunder. "Slash" is something you could call a bomb from the first beat on. It's impossible to stand still and the climax is quite well known, but also highly energetic and really thrilling.  I am not sure how to understand the title, but the command of this track can not be something different then: DANCE !!!
---------------------------------------------------------------------------------------
---------------------------------------------------------------------------------------
WHERE THE WILD THINGS ARE
This track runs and runs and runs. And runs. Aaaaand runs. According to the title, Pig and Dan are on the search for wild things. And the track sounds exactly like that search. It starts directly with the most significant part, a back and forth moving percussive something, that restlessly runs like being on speed. After a few meters, a deep, mysterious voice is added, which repeats the title over and over again. A strange picture comes to my mind: a wasted technoparty lover, who somehow landed in a deep deep forest, strays through the undergrowth like a Truffle pig searching for a wild party. Yes, this is pretty weird...maybe frightening, but it sums up the atmosphere, that Pig & Dan created here. I love it.

R.I.P. DE:BUG
Tumblr media
GERMANY (BERLIN) :
This is actually one of the saddest moments since I listen to Techno. My favorite magazine about electronic lifestyle and music has to cease it's service. After 16 awesome, funny, interesting and thrilling years, they can't see a possibility to survive while everyone is in the need for free information and entertainment.
Maybe they will come back as an online magazine, buts that's not sure until now.
R.I.P. De:Bug.
I loved you!

Robot Koch x Deutsche Grammophon
Tumblr media
GERMANY:
Well... this is big. I'm not sure, if any classic music label, such as the old, respected Deutsche Grammophon asked a techno producer to do a remix! for them. I am really looking forward to hear what genious koch made out of summer 3 by Vivaldi!

THE SAD STORY OF DANCING IN TOKYO
JAPAN:
Many many young people are very lonely in Japan. So clubs became like home for them, they can meet people, listen to good music and have lots of fun. Which makes it all the worse, that Japan's government suppresses the club scene unreasonable hard. Dozens of clubs had to shut down, because of a law back from WW II, which forbids dancing, for the reason that it goes along with drug abuse, prostitution and crime. A small amount of young people is fighting desperately for a legal and diverse electronic music scene in Japan, but the mainly very old population of their country can't understand, that the best way against loneliness is getting together and dance.
