Toronto Pride Parade, Trans March & Dyke March 2023 (preliminary info)
Update: *** Final info for all 3 marches here ***
Happy Pride Month for those around these parts! We’re going to have groups in all 3 marches again this year. Please RSVP to  Please RSVP ([email protected] ) if you’d like to attend *any* of the marches.
Here are the preliminary details and accessibility info below-- More details coming soon:
1) Trans March-- Friday, June 23th, rally at approx 7pm, march at 8pm
Everyone is welcome who *is among* or *supports* trans, non-binary, 2-Spirit folx and gender diversity!
We're planning to march midway through the group because we expect many though not all participants will be trans/non-binary, and they are asking to prioritise trans and non-binary folks near the front
"While allies are welcome to join, we ask that they respect the importance of this space and leave room for Trans folks to celebrate at the front of the march!" (source)
2) Dyke March-- Saturday, June 24th, rally at approx 1pm, march at 2pm
Everyone is welcome who *is among* or *supports* dykes and lesbians (broadly defined, including dykes and lesbians of various genders, including non-binary and transmasculine dykes etc.), bi+ women and femmes, and/or trans women and trans feminine folks of all sexual orientations.
The group will determine where in the march to march based on who shows up to participate
"While this event is specifically for Dykes and Lesbian, allies are more welcome to join, however, when marching and rallying we do ask that allies leave space for folks who identify as Dyke or Lesbian to celebrate at the front!" (source)
3) Pride Parade-- Sunday, June 25th, meet at 2:45 pm. [Note: the route / endpoint has changed this year]
Everyone welcome who is among or supports people under the ace and/or aro umbrella(s), trans umbrella and/or everyone affected by homophobia and transphobia!
Like in past years, we continue to invite people (especially trans/non-binary and/or bi+ folks) to march which us who don't have another group to march with, particularly those with more radical politics opposing structures of oppression. We expect everyone to abide by our Respect Guidelines.
Accessibility --
Please note these are large, crowded, outdoor, rain-or-shine events that involve approximately 2km of slow walking/travelling during the routes (possibly more for the parade) and they are **mask-optional** (i.e., most people attending in the general crowds likely will not be wearing masks)
If you have any accessibility requests, please let me know asap (Pride Toronto has been especially slow to respond to emails this year).
In the past, people who have needed to borrow a wheelchair to participate have been able to do that. While Pride Toronto does not seem to be offering that this year, if you would need to borrow a wheelchair to participate and want to, please let us know ASAP and we'll see if we can arrange it.
Pride Toronto will have ASL interpretation at the rallies. Their info is very vague on whether they have other ASL interpretation support. If you have any ASL-related requests (for example, if you need ASL in order to participate as you would like in a march), please let us know ASAP and we'll see what we can arrange.

Details for Toronto Pride Parade & Trans March-- RSVP please!
Hello people,
Here is the info for the Trans March (Friday June 24, 2022, meetup by 7:45pm) and the Pride Parade (Sunday June 26th, 1pm meetup)-- friends/allies welcome!
Please RSVP  ([email protected])-- Pride Toronto has set things up differently this year, so RSVPs are necessary for the Pride Parade and helpful for the Trans March.
Please make sure to read both the specific Trans March & Pride Parade info as well as the General Info below, as there is some new stuff this year-- like no plastic bags!, a new Parade line-up process (and masks encouraged). And please let us know what signs to bring for you.
1) Trans March: Friday, June 24th, 2022-- check in by 7:45pm
meet up at south-east corner of Church & Hayden, ideally check in with the Group Leaders sometime between 6:30-7:45pm (picture-- similar to previous years, just south side of street)
the rally starts at 7pm and the march is at 8pm
(One of the speakers happens also to be part of the Toronto Aces & Aros community, and will apparently be speaking about the importance of police/prison abolitionist queer/trans politics)
2) Pride Parade: Sunday, June 26th, 2022
meet near the check-in tent at 1pm (#B26) at Charles St. E and Ted Rogers Way / Jarvis street (which is south of Bloor) -- NEW LOCATION THIS YEAR (it's a somewhat awkward intersection)
it's actually a little closer to the Sherbourne subway station than the Bloor/Younge station and there will be WAY fewer people at Sherbourne (and it looks like they now have elevators)
Note: The way they are doing things this year will make it harder for any late-comers to join us-- which is why RSVPs are necessary (so we know who we’re waiting for, etc.)
***  We continue to invite (non-ace/non-arospec) queer/trans community members who don't have other groups to march with (also by RSVP), especially bi/pan and/or trans/non-binary folks, particularly those with more radical politics (i.e., anti-racist, anti-colonial, anti-ableist; police/prison abolitionist politics,etc-- all messages generally consistent with Toronto Aces & Aros Respect Guidelines).***
We will be including some police/prison abolitionist messaging in our group. We are also mindful that we are a politically diverse group: if there is anyone who is more comfortable with more standard ace/aro "we exist"-type messaging, we will make sure to organise our group physically with that at the front so it is clear our group is politically diverse.
General Info details about both marches below
Please dress for the weather and consider sunscreen. The events are rain or shine. The Pride Parade especially will involve waiting around on the street for a long time before marching.
Pride Toronto this year is taking a very strong "anti-litter" stance. They also have banned all plastic bags and want to minimise/eliminate single-use plastics, especially at the Parade.
Please bring whatever water and snacks you might want-- just make sure you also bring a reusable bag to keep any "litter" with you.
Note that Pride Toronto does not allow any group names or logos on signs or clothing other than for the "registered" group. They also don't want unredacted swear words like "fuck", etc. (common asterisk work-arounds, e.g., "f*ck" are allowed)
While the events are outside and there are no mask requirements, due to the crowds, masks are encouraged.
Because we are expecting smaller groups than in past years, we are not bringing all the signs. When you RSVP, please let us know if there are any pride signs you'd particularly like us to bring for you (in addition to the large banner and both ace and aro pride flags)!

Ace&Aro groups in Toronto’s Pride Marches (June 24-26, 2022)
Now that Toronto’s Pride stuff is back in-person, there will again be an ace & arospec group "marching" in the marches/parade (i.e., walking and/or otherwise participating with a mobility device, etc.).
We will have groups in both:
the Trans March (Friday, June 24th, approx 7pm)
allies/everyone welcome
the Pride Parade (Sunday, June 26th, afternoon)
allies/everyone welcome
Like in past years, we also invite queer and especially trans/nb and bi/pan folks and folks with more radical (anti-racist, anti-colonial, anti-ableist, etc. queer) politics who don’t have anyone else to participate with to march with us. We will be a diverse group, with diverse politics. All messages consistent with Toronto Aces & Aros’s Respect Guidelines are welcome.)
We may have a group in the Dyke March (Saturday June 25th, approx 1pm), if at least 3 people plan to show up (please email if interested)
this is for dyke-identified people and allies-- allies who are not dykes (including non-binary dykes), lesbians, bi and/or trans women, etc. are asked to prioritise space at the front for those who are by marching near the back of the march)... so if we do have a group, the composition of the group will determine where we’ll march
Please note these are large, crowded, outdoor, rain-or-shine events that involve approximately 2km of slow walking/travelling during the routes and that Pride Toronto declares them **mask-optional**. (We are encouraging people in our group this year to wear masks on a voluntary basis because many of us live with chronic health issues or live with people who do, etc.)
1) For logistical purposes, please let us know if you're planning to attend any of the marches ([email protected])
2) Accessibility -- If you have any accessibility requests, please let me know asap, ideally by end of day Monday June 13th (Pride Toronto has a weirdly early "deadline" for meeting accessibility needs).
In the past, people who have needed to borrow a wheelchair to participate have been able to do that. While Pride Toronto does not seem to be offering that this year, if you would need to borrow a wheelchair to participate and want to, please let me know asap and I'll see if we can arrange it.
Pride Toronto will have ASL interpretation at the rallies. This year, they also have some volunteer ASL interpreters do more informal one-on-one interpretation. They do not seem to be offering ASL interpreters to go with people, but if you have any ASL-related requests please also let me know asap and I'll see if we can arrange it.

Reminder: Pride Parade tomorrow-- meet 12:45pm, A25
Pride Parade: Sunday, June 23, 2019: 12:45-1pm pm (# A 25)-- don’t come early! (we will already be waiting until 2pm to march)
Meet on Bloor, west of Ted Rogers Way /Jarvis. (Immediately behind PLAG and in front of the Toronto Bisexual Network). Featuring a brand new, hommade Aro pride flag!
Dress for the weather (e.g., sunscreen, hat, water, etc.)! Be prepared for lots of standing and waiting.
Note: Like the past several years, we especially invite trans/nb and bi/pan folks and folks with more radical politics who don’t have anyone else to participate with to march with us. We will be a diverse group, with diverse politics. All messages consistent with Ace Toronto’s Respect Guidelines are welcome.)
Other Information:
Pride Toronto Rules Note: Pride Toronto has kept the rule about covered faces:
“ Masks, body suits and any other article that covers a participant’s face are allowed, as always. However, for safety reasons, all participants must be prepared and willing to show their faces to Parade Organizers and officials if requested”
TTC Note: Bloor/Younge is the closest TTC station with an elevator, but it will be very crowded with parade observers and very difficult to navigate. It is can be easier and faster for those who do not need an elevator to go to Sherbourne Station and walk west on Bloor.
General Notes:
We are collecting money to help cover the cost of participating in the Pride parade (which comes out to about $220). If you have not yet donated anything but would like you, you can bring your donation to the marches. Every little bit helps and is greatly appreciated!
I have 2 leftover t-shirts (one “standard XL” and one “ladies XL”-- their phrasing). T-shirts are pwyc with a suggested donation of $5-$10 to cover the cost of the shirt.

A little ace & arospec group at the Dyke March today afterall
There will be a small ace/arospec group at the Dyke March today afterall:
Dyke March: Saturday, June 23, 2018: 1pm at the North East corner of Church and Hayden (by the large brown pillar on the corner of the building, in the underhang of the building). The Dyke March is for queer/trans women and/or all self-identified dykes. (allies / others are invited to cheer the march along)
There will be some ace & aro signs, and an ace pride flag. (I don’t think there’s an aro pride flag confirmed, but someone bringing one would be more than welcome).
Look for the person wearing a shirt that says “Silently perpetuating the ace agenda”
[The Ace Toronto banner will not be there, so don’t look for that.]

General Notes:
None of the marches seem to be planning any parts that are scent-free. The Trans March and Dyke March last year both aimed to have the front be scent-free and smoke-free, but that isn’t in their info this year…
I will have leftover t-shirts with me at the Trans March (S and XL) and Pride parade for people to pick up who’s asked for them, and a few extras. T-shirts are pwyc with a suggested donation of $5-$10 to cover the cost of the shirt.
We are collecting money to help cover the cost of participating in the Pride parade (which comes out to about $150). If you have not yet donated anything but would like you, you can bring your donation to the marches. Every little bit helps and is greatly appreciated!
Dress for the weather because you will be outside for a long period of time (this might include things like having sunscreen and water and possibly wearing a hat, especially for the Dyke March and Pride Parade)
If you are planning to attend a march and don’t already have the cell phone number and would like it for meetup-purposes please e-mail for it ([email protected]).
