Legends' Gifts For The Avalance Baby's First Birthday

I was thinking about this for fic reasons but it quickly evolved into its own thing. Let me know if you've got any other ideas.

Ray and Nora

They would give a useful invention and/or magical charm. I'm thinking something that would make parents' lives easier without being an untested, potentially dangerous device around an infant/toddler.

Kendra and/or Carter

Separate or together (I'm not really a fan of the comics direction) I think they would get the most normal gifts as the people who have been parents many times.

Mick

Crème brûlée torch. 'It's for food' is his only explanation when anyone questions it.

Jax

Custom made plastic throwing stars

(Curse AI for being evil and forcing me to Photoshop my own dang nonsense)

Nate and Zari

A set of funny/cute shirts. Stuff like: 'Future ninja', 'My favorite uncle is a Historian', gamer stuff, etc. And maybe something from the ancestors that they say every baby should have.

I feel like he would write the baby a song as his gift. And when it ends up on his first album in his own time the kid can't tell anyone about it being hers.

Gwyn

Haunted doll (not intentionally). Zari lends Gwyn $50, which already freaks him out (inflation calculator says it's ~$900). And when he tries to go to the mall he walks into the Macy's (a name he recognizes) but enters through the underwear-section door and he instantly turns back around to walk out. Eventually he finds an antique store with this perfectly acceptable children's gift and she is 100% haunted but the ghost is chill.

(I cruised through the doll aisle at a thrift store to find one I liked for this)

Gideon has only known one baby personally so I think she'd go with some hot 22nd century or historic toy that was Jonas' favorite as a baby. Or she'd pick the toy with the best reviews at the exact time of the birthday.

Carter and Kendra being divorced, but both still showing up to the Legends reunions is a hilarious idea

Hawkman has been a longtime favorite of mine so I always feel bad when Carter gets left out or one-noted in Legends stuff. He was really not as bad as anyone remembers (even me), I promise. His delivery just came across poorly cause he was only around for such a short time. And poor Scythian was dragged from a future that will never exist into a past he might never fully remember.

So yeah, [comic spoilers!] I don't think Kendra and Carter would be married with a 5 year old. I do think the Hawkman quarantine short film was plausible but I think the reality would be somewhere in between the two.

And I don't know that I'd write it but I think I'd love a story of Carter avoiding Legends things (and Kendra) on purpose until he finally convinces himself to just go to something. And then he and Kendra can awkwardly learn how to be actual friends before or in lieu of anything else.

When you travel through time you are going to discover things that you'll never be able to tell anyone but that is harder for some Legends than others.

Once, in a fic I referenced that Ray's and Nora's 'trapped on tv' would have been a Glee episode because it made for a better offhand joke but I know 100% that they would actually be in Bewitched.

So I was thinking about it again and realized that it works best with Nora as Darrin. Every morning she goes off to her fairy godmother job in a baby blue business suit and warns househusband Ray not to let his experiments get out of control again.

She comes home to a strawberry the size of a bean bag chair in the kitchen and their chocolate lab, Heywood, shrunk down and roaming the house in a hamster ball.

I'm sure someone has already submitted Hedy Lamarr because she was spectacularly beautiful, and a very strong lady too: she fled both an abusive marriage AND nazi persecution at a very young age and rebuilt a life for herself pursuing her love for acting all on her own!! Her career as an actress was stellar; while she began acting outside of Hollywood (her very first movie, Ecstasy, won a prize at the Venice Film Festival), she conquered American hearts very quickly with her first movie in the US, Algiers, and then just kept getting better and better. If all this isn't enough, she was also an inventor: her invention of the frequency-hopping spread spectrum radio transmission technique forms the base of bluetooth and has a lot of applications in all kinds of communication technologies. I think that deserves a prize, don't you?

One of the most beautiful women ever in film, spoken by many critics and fans. Beautiful shapely figure, deeper seductive voice, and often played femme fatale roles. She was also brilliant and an inventor. Mainly self-taught, she invested her spare time, including on set between takes, in designing and drafting inventions, which included an improved traffic stoplight and a tablet that would dissolve in water to create a flavored carbonated drink, and much more.

Her depiction of Delilah and Samson and Delilah just lives rent free in my head. The woman was gorgeous.

I figured Rip's room would be the same as the others but I couldn't remember for sure. In that case Sara would probably not claim it in season 3. Mick still might but it would be a battle between his desire to steal and his hating change.

I haven't counted all of the compartments personally but the wiki only lists about half of the total.

And as for the sharing I also don't know how they managed that. I'm so confused about where Carter was supposed to sleep if he hadn't died. But I figure Kendra's room would still have counted as hers even if she was staying in Ray's. Maybe they let Scythian sleep in hers if there was any time for it at the end.

One thing I had to do for Back to the Finale: Part III was figure out the state of the Waverider in-story and the biggest part of that was tracking how the rooms changed owners over the years.

It got so confusing that I physically had to map it out and I wanted to share for anyone else who might need it.

The basics: The Waverider has 8 presumably identical rooms that were then modified by Jax and Rip before season 2.

The boxes around the names are for where it's not clear who took which room, e.g. Nate could have taken either Snart or Kendra's room.

To sum up:

Mick and Sara were the only ones to stay in their rooms the whole time (unless one of them swiped Rip's at the beginning of season 3)

Astra got Ray's room.
