School let's out in a week and everyone is excited, especially the oldest girls because they have summer camp.
Modern au
The week before...
Julieta was aware of the end of the school year for her girls. Isabela and Dolores were finishing their 5th grade year at the elementary school. Luisa was coming out of 3rd grade strong heading for 4th grade with her teacher recommending the gifted program; and sweet little Mirabel and Camilo had been with Julieta at home, preparing for kindergarten. Agustin had taught them how to count to 10 and Felix had started teaching them how to read. By the first day of school they'd know the alphabet well.
It was Monday afternoon, nine more days until she had five rambunctious children running around the house for a week before Isa and Lola headed to camp for 8 weeks. Luisa may join them but Julieta would ask what Luisa wanted before she bought supplies.
"Mami, can you sign this?" Isabela asked sitting at the breakfast bar, where she usually ate a snack and did her homework with Dolores every afternoon.
Pepa had been in the kitchen with Julieta and got a similar question from her own hija.
Julieta read the paper
" Dear parent or guardian,
As a part of the curriculum for all 5th grade students, teachers are going to be teaching age appropriate sex education during the last week of the school. We will teach these lessons to your child unless this form is returned opting your child out of these lessons.
We encourage parents to allow your child to take these lessons to ensure they understand the changes that will occur with the onset of puberty.
Please fill out the form below and have your child return to their teacher by Friday May 21"
Julieta looked at Pepa, who was looking at her.
"Let me find a pen," Julieta muttered as she went across the kitchen and grabbed Pepa yanking her into the entrance hall to talk in a hushed whisper.
"Are you thinking what I'm thinking," Julieta whispered
"Yep, I mean do you remember our sex ed, we were told we were gonna bleed, and that we needed to wash our hair and use deodorant, and to never have sex," Pepa whispered
"Exactly, I don't want that for the girls, I want them to be properly educated on the matter, in a healthy way that explains all the details in an appropriate manner for their age," Julieta said to Pepa
"I have an idea. We'll let them go and ask what they learned so we can fill in the gaps and debunk myths." Pepa said
"Good idea," Julieta agreed signing the line that said she would allow Isa to attend the class.
Pepa signed Dolores's paper in the same spot and returned them to the children to turn in.
As the girls completed their homework Isabela piped up
"Are our bags ready for field day tomorrow?"
"No I wanted to have you girls here when I put them together," Julieta told.
"Ok," Isabela and Dolores said
"Go get your bags and head to the den. I'll get the rest of everything." Julieta told the girls, "oh and get Luisa down too her bag needs to be packed up,"
Julieta went through each checklist to make sure all three girls had what they needed.
Once she was sure, she looked at the calendar and checked what other events were going on that week. Nothing stood out save for the last day of school where all the 5th graders watched a video of their baby pictures and had a picnic out on the playground. Parents were invited and Julieta and Pepa agreed to go while Gus and Felix kept an eye on Mirabel and Camilo.
"Oh girls, we're going shopping after school tomorrow so you can get some new stuff for camp." Pepa informed watching as the girls excitedly jumped around.
"Go help Tia Pepa pack some orders while I make dinner," Julieta said referring to Pepa's small business selling handmade jewelry and other crafts.
The girls woke up the next day and immediately put on their swimsuits and over clothes to get ready for field day. Isabela chose to wear her navy blue one piece and Dolores wore her matching yellow one. They would likely play with water balloons or in the sprinklers. Their bags were filled with sunscreen, a towel, a extra change of clothes, a water bottle, their caps, sunglasses, extra shoes, and plenty of snacks.
Isabela and Dolores both went for their mesh running shoes great for traction on slippery surfaces and drying quickly if wet.
Once they were dressed the two eldest went to the kitchen to get breakfast and do each other's hair.
Julieta set out granola bars for them while she made everyone else eggs and sausages. She knew they were excited and would probably refuse a large breakfast. Reason for the snacks.
Dolores braided isabelas hair back and tied it into a ponytail. Sleek but durable throughout the day. Isa finished her granola bar and Dolores sat down to eat hers while Isabela did her hair. Isa styled her cousin's hair similar to hers but instead of braiding it into a ponytail she sectioned it off and braided three braids from the front of her hair back and then tied the braids into a ponytail with the other half of her hair that was left loose. It had a viking feel to it, which was something Dolores loved since she was really interested in vikings at the moment.
Luisa came down with her hair already done in two French braids on either side of her hair, Pepa not far behind with the little ones.
"I brought these two down to sleep on the couch and watch cartoons, they caught the stomach bug, both of them are sick." Pepa said
"poor bebés, I'll get some Popsicles from the garage freezer for them, if only my gift could heal viruses." Julieta said. Her gift was wonderful but a major oversight was making it only able to heal physical injury and life threatening diseases. The common cold or stomach bug couldn't be healed but someone who had a broken bone or cancer would be healed. Major oversight to her gift but reasonable in hindsight. The common cold at worst was a mild inconvenience where a broken bone at worse could be a potential fatality depending on how much damage is done to the nearby muscle or blood vessels.
The kids were sent to school and Julieta took care of the two littlest ones through the day.
By two that afternoon Pepa had emerged from her workshop.
"How are they?" Pepa asked seeing the two youngest on the sofa watching a movie.
"they're better, I gave them Popsicles to help soothe their throat and to try to help rehydrate them. I need to go get the kids and take the big girls to get their stuff for camp, they have new requirements now that they've moved up to the 10-12 year old cabins Luisa decided she wanted to go even after I explained she'd be in the 8-10 cabins without the girls." Julieta told
The cabins were based on birthdays so kids who would turn 10 during or after camp were in the 8-10 cabin. Kids who turn 10 before camp are sorted by month age. Kids who are younger than 10 years 6 months are in the 8-10 cabins. Kids older than that are in the 10-12 cabins.
"Go ahead Juli I got these two," Pepa said.
Julieta grabbed the lists for camp and went to pick up the kids.
She went through the car rider line for the girls and after they were picked up Julieta noticed that all three had done as she had asked and changed before dismissal. She smiled to herself then looked at them in the rearview.
"guess what we're doing?" Julieta asked
"camp supplies?" Isa said her memory immaculate.
"right on Isa, here's yours and Lola's list. Luisa here's yours." Julieta said letting the girls look over the list.
The only new additions to this list for Isabella and Dolores were long pants, a helmet, and pads/tampons.
Since Isa and Lola moved up, they get to do more activities, such as horseback riding, kayaking, and free lake time with their cabin group. They require the girls to bring a long pair of pants and a helmet for horseback riding. And since most of the girls in the 10-12 cabins are likely to get their first period at camp, the camp requires all girls to have either pads or tampons from age 10.
Luisa's list was very similar but instead of items like a helmet the camp requires younger campers especially first time campers to have some comforters since parents were not allowed to pick children up from camp until the last day unless it was an emergency. Isa and Dolores had settled well and didn't need the comforters Julieta had packed their first year going. She still packed their special teddy bears though, just in case. Something Julieta and Pepa had done with Isa and Lola before their first time at camp was they went and made bears at build a bear workshop. These bears had a sound box that had julieta and Pepa recorded saying 'I love you'
When they got to the strip mall Julieta explained to the girls. "We're buying camp stuff, nothing else ok. You girls are getting some new clothes. What we don't buy you pack from home, I'll pull your trunks out later tonight so you can start packing them." Julieta said looking at the older girls. "Luisa we'll buy you a trunk today for camp, I brought the cables to tie it down with,"
Luisa smiled and nodded, excited she could finally join her older sister and cousin at camp.
"you're gonna love camp Lu, it's so much fun getting to make new friends and do all the activities. When me and Lola went we met so many new people and they were all so nice, hopefully you get cabin 3. Miss amy was mine and Dolores 's counselor at camp, she will love you so much Lu. Not even lying she helped me and Lola so much our first year at camp." Isabela said
After their small talk, Julieta led the girls into the store.
Starting at the camping supplies and sports gear. Julieta let Isabela and Dolores choose their own helmets for horseback riding, and helped Luisa get some necessities.
"Do you know any activities you want to do?" Julieta asked.
"I want to do softball," Luisa said proudly. She had been a pitcher on her travel team for a year now and she wanted to continue with it.
"Ok, I'll put in the order for your camp uniform tonight. You need a mitt and glove, and you need new running shoes." Julieta said.
"can't I bring my cleats?" Luisa asked
"Only the older players wear cleats honey. If you stick with it you can bring your cleats a few years from now." Julieta explained.
After Isabela and Dolores got their helmets and gloves for horseback riding Julieta got all the girls a new sleeping bag since Isa and Lola had grown out of theirs and Luisa didn't have one.
Isabela chose a Bratz sleeping bag, Dolores decided on a Lisa Frank one, and Luisa proudly chose a Tinkerbell one.
After they had made their way through getting the girls all they needed for camp, Julieta tasked Isabela and Dolores with loading the car while she took Luisa next door for a durable trunk.
When they entered the shops Julieta led Luisa toward the large plastic trunks because they're the most durable and resistent. Plus they come in cool colors.
Luisa picked herself out a purple trunk and rolled it to the checkout with Julieta keeping an eye on her to make sure she wasn't struggling.
After paying for the trunk, Julieta hoisted herself up and strapped it to the top of the car for the 15 minute drive home.
When they arrived home Julieta immediately took the eldest girls' trunks out of the attic to let them pack. While she did that said eldest were taking all of their stuff inside and into the living room to sort out.
After the trunks were put in each room, Julieta came down to help the girls sort their items out.
The biggest things were clothes and toiletries and other necessary items like bug spray and sun screen.
Julieta sat and told the girls, "I bought all of you a new swimsuit, and you all got some new shorts and tank tops. Isa and Lola, you two pack four sets of pajamas. Lu I want you to pack five. I know sometimes you get a little extra picky. Everyone packs water shoes sandals and sneakers. You two will be fitted with boots for riding when you get there. Lu you need to get your softball helmet from the garage. I trust you three to make sure to pack everything you need and double check your list." Julieta said as she sorted the clothes to who they belonged to. Each of the girls got four new outfits for camp and a new bright swimsuit. Julieta only allowed her girls to wear neon swimsuits because they are easiest to see in the water. This year Isabela got a neon pink, Dolores got a neon green one, and Luisa got neon orange.
After everything has been sorted out Julieta instructed the girls to take them to their rooms and get ready for bed. Pepa had taken the littlest kids to bed an hour prior. Felix had just gotten home and Agustin was just pulling into the driveway. Julieta went upstairs and kissed her girls goodnight, all three of them tucked into bed with a content smile.
Their smiles let her smile as she climbed into bed with Agustin who was very cuddly and protective tonight.
All was well and now there was only 7 more days until the girls got out of school.
Super long but hope you enjoy ❤️

Big girl gifts and big girl rooms.
The first gifts
Isabela and Dolores are excited to finally get their very own big girl rooms. Both girls had been in the nursery with Luisa who was only a toddler at the time and sometimes didn't understand what Isabela and Lola were doing.
Plus both girls started school in September just after their fifth birthday. They deserved their own room to play and sleep.
Bruno came home the weekend before isabela's birthday and had the month off and could celebrate with his sobrinas. Bruno drove large forty foot supply trucks across the country. This meant he had a sleeper truck and hardly ever came home. He usually made an appearance for birthdays and holidays. Sometimes it wasn't plausible but he tried his best not to miss too much.
Pepa was working on starting a small business between her job as a waitress in the most popular restaurant in town, and being a mom to her daughter and an aunt to her nieces. Julieta was running a small catering business out of their home kitchen which so far had made excellent money. She was always left with large tips for excellent work. Agustin was a carpenter and Felix worked at his brother's outdoor company, usually installing pools and mowing lawns, it made good money so he couldn't complain and Pepa certainly want complaining when her man came home from work all sweaty and hot. She found the sweaty hardworking man attractive usually joining him in the shower before dinner.
The day of Isabela's birthday came and they kept it small, family only. She was showered with love and treated to new toys and dress up costumes. She had her favorite cake, red velvet with chocolate mousse, and she got her bedroom. The door glowing just like the triplets' had five years prior.
"go ahead sweetheart, it's ok." Julieta encouraged
As soon as Isabela touched the doorknob the door glowed and engraved itself with a floral design. Brunos eyes glowed green and yet another message tablet from their father.
"what does the tablet say?" Pepa asked curious to see what their father had to say about Isabela.
"it says, 'to my first born granddaughter, you may not know me but I know you. A beautiful little girl waiting to blossom into amazing things as she grows and learns. Isabela I grant you the gift to help grow plants by simply touching them, and the ability to make blossoms appear in your hands. May you use this gift to help the people you love. Your grandfather, Pedro.'" Bruno read.
"Who? I don't have an abuelo?" Isabela asked.
"You do, he just never got a chance to meet you. He protected me and your mami tia and tio when they were only bebés. Before you were born I came to grace this house for your mami tio and tia, by some miracle after lighting the candle it granted them gifts. Your tio Bruno has the gift to see the future and show small pieces of the past. Every time a new gift is granted he gets a message tablet like the one he read. It is his magic that grants these gifts and even in death he gives us messages so we understand the magic." Alma explains to the child.
"so I will get a gift on my birthday?" Dolores asks
"I believe so. The magic is still new to us so I don't know how it all works just yet," Alma tells.
Regardless Isabela opens her door to see the best bedroom a five year old in 2000 could possibly have. She has a Clifford themed room. It had decals of the large red dog and all his friends on the walls, and everything was themed around Clifford. The bed was made with brand new bed sheets that were Clifford themed with a red blanket that matched everything.
Julieta knew the room would need a facelift in a year or two but indulging her baby with a bedroom themed around her favorite show for her birthday was more important.
Pepa smiled knowing Dolores would love her bedroom just as much as Isabela loved hers.
Three weeks pass and many sleepovers are had in Isabela's new room. Until the day came and it was finally Dolores's birthday. Her new bedroom door glowed with potential, and after a trip to the beach to celebrate Dolores was excited to see what was behind her door.
She touched the knob and watched the engravings swirl around and make sound waves. Then brunos eyes out up in their signature green and a tablet placed in his hand.
"to my second oldest granddaughter, many words describe your wonder but I often describe you as an owl. You have bright eyes to see the potential, and a smile that lights up a room like the sun after a storm. Your gift is the ability to hear even the tiniest of sounds when you need to. May you use this gift to help the people you love, your grandfather, Pedro" Bruno read immediately, knowing if he hesitated he'd be asked what the tablet said.
When Dolores turned the knob she found her room decorated with strawberry shortcake. Just like Isabela's room she had decals of strawberry and all her friends on the walls. Her bed was made with strawberry shortcake sheets and a pink blanket similar to her cousin's.
The room is likely to grow with Dolores at least for a few years but by the time she's 10 her room will need a redo. But like Julieta, Pepa didn't care because her daughters happiness was all that mattered.
Following Dolores's birthday, Julieta announced her third pregnancy.
She knew it was only a matter of time until Pepa announced her own pregnancy since she overheard a conversation between the married couple a few weeks prior.
Not even a month an a half later and Pepa finally announced her pregnancy, and so the cycle begins. Again.
Hope you enjoy ❤️

Growth and gift.
As isabela and Dolores grow they are gifted another baby.
Modern au
"Isabela just turned one four months ago, how did this happen?" Julieta thought as she looked at the positive pregnancy test on the bathroom counter.
"Mi amor, are you ok?" Agustin asked on the opposite side of the locked door.
"I-I'm fine." Julieta said stuffing the test into her bra so Agustin wouldn't see. She exited the bathroom a moment later with a smile so he wouldn't be suspicious.
"Can you help Felix put the girls down for their nap while I make lunch with Pepa?" Julieta asked calmly trying not to show the obvious nervousness in her tone.
"of course, we'll even pull out the winter clothes to go through after dinner." Agustin said going to find his daughter.
"Pepa, come help me make lunch" Julieta called.
"Ok, but don't you usually shoo me out of the kitchen to do it all yourself?" Pepa said following her sister downstairs.
"I still would but I need to talk to you," Julieta said.
"What's wrong?" Pepa said planting herself on the countertop near where Julieta was cooking.
"So I was supposed to get my period on Tuesday and it's Saturday and I haven't had it yet so I took a pregnancy test just to see and it came out positive." Julieta said
"Oh. What were you two doing? We've barely had time away from the girls," Pepa said.
"I know, but that weekend we sent them to mama's, Agustin and I took full advantage." Julieta said.
"Are you telling him?" Pepa asked hopping down from her perch to get a glass of water, but in a wine glass because it felt appropriate for the sisterly gossip.
"well I wanted to talk to you about that, I want to surprise him," Julieta said
"I have an idea, let me call my girlfriend Pam, she's a creative genius and she has a knack for pregnancy announcements." Pepa said picking up the home phone and dialing the number
"hey Pam, I need a favor, and a bottle of alcohol free wine,"
Several days later when Agustin got home from work one evening, he went to change out of his work clothes and saw a box on the bed.
He opened it and unwrapped the tissue paper. In it he found the positive pregnancy test and a onesie that said 'look out world, here I come'
"Julieta?" He said quietly.
"I'm right here," she said emerging from the bathroom with her blue nightgown on and hair nearly wrapped up in a towel.
"is this true?" He asked
"yeah I've got the first ultrasound next week," Julieta said
"I'm gonna be a dad again," he laughed picking up his wife and twirling her around.
Seven months pass with happiness and explanation to the girls. It is nearing Isabela and Doloress birthdays and Julieta knew this baby would be born in September.
She was struggling though, her belly was huge, bigger than when Isabela was born. And her back hurts worse than it ever had, and she was still in her 20's. She prayed she wasn't carrying twins, one was plenty. Especially since having a two year old is hard enough.
The first week of September came and that Saturday she was admitted after her water broke. It wasn't until Sunday evening that her baby girl was born. A whipping 6 pounds 9 ounces. She was even smaller than Isabela who weighed in at 8 pounds 3 ounces at birth.
What Julieta wondered is how something so small could take up so much room. Julueta was so large by the time she had this little girl everyone around town was questioning whether or not she had twins cooking in her. By the end Julieta was wondering herself if somehow she had twins.
But never less her second daughter was born and beautiful. Agustin took the liberty of letting Julieta have some time with their baby to go get her something to eat. His poor wife hasn't eaten anything for almost 30 hours.
After she had eaten and the baby had successfully latched and nursed. They had to decide on a name.
"I feel like she looks like a Luise," Agustin said looking at the sleeping infant.
"I was thinking Lisa," Julieta voiced.
"Luisa, it combines both names," Agustin suggested.
"I love it, Luisa Everly, a perfect name for our beautiful daughter," Julieta smiled.
After filling out the paperwork they got to go home with baby Luisa and introduce her to the girls.
When they arrived the two toddlers looked at the carrier.
"This is your sister Isa," Julieta said trying to get Isa to interact with Luisa.
Neither girl was interested in the infant, but Julieta expected that in this stage. By the time the eldest two got their own room, they would be pulling Luisa around with them.
And now the beginning of something wonderful.

Hi friends, if any of you have noticed I am back from my hiatus. It was sudden and unannounced but it was necessary for me to step away to deal with some family matters. And now I'm making a slow return. I can say that this is going to be a process bc I'm trying to graduate from college and currently am dealing with a credit recovery so I can graduate this year. It's long and strenuous but I will try to post as much as I can in between. Then this summer I'm gonna be writing a lot more.

The beginning
The beginning of something new. Things are gonna get wild
Pepa, Julieta and Bruno vowed they'd stay close to their home as adults. Not long after they turned 20, Pepa and Julieta both got married to their high school sweethearts Felix, and Agustin.
They both got married in 1990; Julieta just after new years on her and Agustin's five year anniversary, and Pepa that summer on her and Felix's four year anniversary.
1995 came around and they had bought a large house and were getting ready for their babies birth. Ironically both young women had gotten pregnant around the same time, about three weeks to separate them.
"Mama! What are you doing here" Julieta said as she opened the front door
"I came to bless the house before any new arrivals make their grand entrance. I have no doubts that your baby will make things dramatic. Juli do you know how much of a pain you were to birth?" Alma said as she came in and sat her bag on the counter.
"She was the dramatic one? I thought you said I was the dramatic kid," Pepa said recalling a prior conversation
"She was the dramatic birth, you were the dramatic child. There's a difference. Julieta came into this world being dramatic you never stopped pepi." Alma said
The soon to be grandmother pulled out a very old looking candle.
"This candle blessed mine and your father's house. It kept the four of us safe the night he died. It was like the house came alive just to protect us. It's now time to pass the gift along." Alma said to her three children, Felix and Gus watching from the staircase off to the side.
She placed the candle on the floor and sprinkled the top with something that resembled sugar. Then she lit it.
"what's going on?" Julieta said when the candle began to flicker.
The candle shone so brightly no one could tell what was happening, but when it dimmed once more the candle looked restored and had engravings on it.
"why are the doors glowing?" Agustin asked looking at the doors along the second story.
Pepa, Bruno and Julieta approached one of the three glowing doors.
First was Julieta who touched the knob and watched the door shine and engrave itself. The design was medicinal looking. She didn't know what it meant but waited for her siblings
Bruno went next. His door engraving an hourglass design Bruno's green eyes glowed for a moment and then a small green tablet appeared in his hand. He didn't look at it but waited for Pepa.
Pepa grasped the doorknob at last and watched as weather patterns engraved themselves, she was confused and above her head sprouted a small grey cloud.
"Bruno? What's that?" Pepa asked
"I don't know. But it says something," he told Pepa
"well? Are you gonna read it?" Julieta said impatiently
"it says 'to my children. I may not have been there to see you grow but I'm proud of how far you have come. This is a blessing for all generations of madrigal children starting with you three. To my oldest Julieta, you have the gift to heal ailments with food. My only son Bruno, you can read the future and show pieces of the past. And lastly to my little red Pepa, your mood controls the weather in whichever room you're in. I wish you the best, Pedro'" Bruno reads
"Dad?" Pepa said. The cloud above her was drizzling slightly
"Soo... I can see the future now." Bruno said
"Your father always dreamed of magic and magical abilities. When I sprinkled a touch of his ashes on the candle it miraculously brought his dreams to life for your families and furthermore." Alma told
Bruno's eyes shone green unexpectedly and another tablet showed up in his hand.
"do you want to know what you're having?" Bruno asked
"I know I'm having a boy" Julieta said
"it's a girl, I'm telling you," Agustin refuted
"team girl all the way" Pepa said, Felix nodding behind her
"you're both having girls," Bruno said.
"what?" Julieta squawked
Here's to the beginning of something wonderful to come.
Two dramatic births later and Isabela Melody, and Dolores Alayne were finally here. Ready to take on the world, and become the beginning of something beautiful.
Hope you enjoy ❤️

Modern au headcannons for upcoming stories
These head cannons are for my modern au that is set in the early 90's and extends through to present day. Ocs will come later for right now Isa and Dolores are only smol
Pepa owns a small business where she makes custom jewelry with crystals she tumbles herself. She also makes photo frames and nerdy home decor to sell.
Julieta runs a catering business out of the home. She has plenty of room and is excellent at time management. Her clients always leave astonishingly large tips for her because the quality of her work is so high.
Agustin is a carpenter, he works from 6am to 8 pm on weekdays and has weekends off unless there is an important deadline. He usually brings home the biggest weekly pay unless it's the holidays, then Pepa brings in big bucks for her commissions.
Felix works with his brothers at their pool and outdoor refurbishment company, depending on the day he could install a pool, mow lawns, pressure wash sidewalks, etc. He goes in at 7am after dropping the kids at school and is often home either by or before 6 the next evening. Rare occasions have him working later especially if complications arise with a pool
Isa and Dolores are extremely crafty and responsible. There's always some type of craft or project in progress between them. In their spare time they like to do all sorts of things as far as sports or creativity goes.
Luisa is often roped into the eldest two's shenanigans and she loves it because sometimes she feels left out because she's two years younger than them.
Mirabel and Camilo love to run and play while Pepa and Julieta keep watch. When they're playing their favorite game to play is pretend, Camilo has such a big imagination and Mirabel feeds off of him. They can come up with some wild stories
Dolores and mariano are high school sweethearts
Casita keeps magically growing and each kid has a subdued gift (ex Pepa only controls the weather of the room she's in or has a small cloud above her head only, Isabela can only make flowers bloom or form flowers in her hands)
Bruno is a truck driver and is seldom home, he comes home only for holidays or if he's in the area.
The house is on a half acre property and is completely fenced in.
All kids have bicycles and roller skates. The five of them like to take the evening and go around the block. The eldest can go by themselves to most places in town. Luisa is usually accompanied but can go on her own if she pleases, Mir and Milo must be accompanied if they leave the property.
There is a large backyard swing set and play house for the children to play on.
The eldest girls have flip phones. Though they hardly ever use them unless it's an emergency. They all love playing games on the family Nintendo (GameCube, then Wii after Christmas 2003)
To prevent arguments each family member has their own Gamecube and Wii remote to use.
Hope you enjoy ❤️

When all you want is to sleep comfortably,
A/N: apologies for disappearing for so long but I had a lot to do for college. I'll try to start posting again but I can't make too many promises.
Phases
"Goodnight mi flor," Julieta whispered kissing Isabela's head.
Once julieta left, Isabela tossed and turned in her bed, trying to get comfortable but unfortunately she got wrapped up in her loose nightgown.
She groaned before she sat up and yanked the pink fabric over her head and tossed it to the floor by her bed. As soft as it was it was too loose and kept getting tangled around Isabela. Mere moments after the annoying fabric had landed on the floor the eldest madrigal had fallen into a deep sleep.
Down the hall Dolores was getting ready for bed when her mother came in to check on her and tell her goodnight.
"Mi bebé, I came to say goodnight," Pepa said stepping into Dolores's room.
"Mama?" Dolores said emerging from her closet.
"I'm right here lola, come sit," Pepa said patting the 12 year olds bed.
"can I ask something?" Dolores asked sitting on her bed.
"ask away mi vida," Pepa said
"it's nearly my time, and I was curious about a few things I've been feeling," Dolores said shyly, still unfamiliar with her cycle despite having it for almost a year.
Pepa assured her that having questions was normal and answered them, remembering how she had to go digging for this knowledge on her own.
"Its perfectly normal to get cramps in your thighs from your period, trust me tia Julieta said it herself," Pepa assured tucking her eldest into bed.
"Ok mamá goodnight," Dolores yawned curling into her blankets.
Pepa kissed her niña's head, and closed her door with a light click. Before Dolores truly settled in she peeled the yellow fabric of her nightgown off and then snuggled into her blankets clutching her fluffy owl to her bare chest. The feeling was odd since she had never slept without a nightgown before. Dolores enjoyed the feeling and curled into her blanket and fell asleep within minutes
The next morning Pepa was in charge of waking up the kids. Camilo and Mirabel had a sleepover in Camilo's room so Pepa gave a knock, then stepped in to get the pair woken up and dressed. Once she'd sent them down to Julieta she made her next stop at Luisa's room. She opened the door and gently patted Luisa's hip until said girl had finally opened her eyes, "buenos dias tia," she sleepily mumbled reaching out to hug Pepa.
Luisa was always her favourite to wake, because Luisa loved cuddles in the morning so she could have a moment to spend with her sobrina wrapped up in happy cuddles.
"Buenos dias mi sobrinita, I need to wake the other girls, get dressed and I'll be back to do your hair," Pepa said sitting Luisa down on the short stool by her dressing table. Believe it or not, Luisa is light for her age, even with her gift. And she takes full advantage of her light build. She loves when Julieta lifts her onto the counter to sit while she makes arepas, or when Agustin gives her piggyback rides. She especially loves when Pepa wakes her up and carries her around her room for a little while while they cuddle, and sometimes if Pepa hasn't dressed, she'll help Pepa pick an outfit, all while Pepa holds onto her in a soft warm cuddle.
"Ok tia," Luisa yawned in the affirmative, and Pepa left to go wake the eldest two.
She started with Isabela, since she was right beside Lu.
A knock at the door proved that Isabela was definitely her mother's daughter sleeping like a rock until she either got up on her own or was forced awake by someone else.
With that Pepa opened the door to Isabela's room. She walked towards the bed and isabela had shifted in her sleep tossing the cover off herself. Usually Pepa wouldn't be surprised by this but when the blanket was thrown away from Isabela all she saw was skin. No nightgown, no camisole. Just Isabela's bare chest, which wasn't a big deal since it was Pepa waking her this morning, but what if it had been tio Felix, or her father. None the less she woke Isabela up, and Isa immediately pulled her sheet to her chest as her cheeks flushed in embarrassment. Isabela didn't say a word at first, but she didn't have to because Pepa was the one to break the silence.
"Isa, there's nothing to be embarrassed over, trust me. It's just something of a phase you go through, I will say, you got lucky this morning since it was me, but be careful when you sleep like this ok," Pepa said reassuring Isa that sleeping in her underwear or fully nude was normal, just to be careful and choose when she slept like this wisely.
"You get dressed, I'm going to wake up Lola," Pepa told noticing that roses bloomed on Isabela's chest for her to hide in until she had an actual top or dress on.
"Ok tia," Isabela said as Pepa left her room.
She took the short walk to Dolores's room and gently opened the door. Her daughter was wearing her head wrap and was sleeping soundly. Her blanket was thrown off her top half much like Isabela, but she was sleeping on her stomach so her chest was pressed into her mattress.
"Lola," Pepa said quietly as she coaxed Dolores to wake up.
"Buenos dias mama" Dolores said as she reached to her right to grasp Pepa's hand and give it a squeeze, a little habit she has picked up as a child.
"Buenos dias mi niña, sleep well?" Pepa asked trying to brace the subject of her sleepwear, or lack thereof.
"I slept well mama," Dolores said sitting up, she pulled the yellow nightgown discarded the night before over her head as she pushed her head wrap up to uncover her eyes.
"Seems you did, is this the first time you've done this or just the first time I caught you," Pepa asked being a bit more straightforward since Dolores had no shame or embarassment about her body. Yet.
"First time I did it, it felt weird, but in a good way," Dolores said stretching.
"Well, little piece of advice, be careful of when you do that, you got lucky since it was my turn to wake you this morning" Pepa said
"Ok mama, I'll make sure," Dolores said crawling out of her blankets to sit on the side of her bed.
"Alright, come down for breakfast when you're dressed," Pepa said giving Dolores a light hug.
She returned to Luisa and fixed her hair with a warm smile on her face, her thoughts racing with a desperate need to talk to Julieta. Once Luisa's hair was done, she and Pepa made their way downstairs.
Luisa was soon scooping Isabela, Dolores, Camilo, and Mirabel up from the living room to take them outside to play. Thankfully giving Pepa enough time alone to talk to Julieta, but not before a coffee.
"What's wrong mi hermana? I know you've got something on your mind," Julieta asked stirring together some cinnamon and sugar to sprinkle over the apples she'd just cut.
"Isa and Lola are going through that phase," Pepa grimaced
"Which one? We have a whole alphabet of teenage phases," Julieta said refilling Pepa's coffee mug.
"Let me put it this way, their sleepwear has changed," Pepa grimaced
"Ooh, that phase," Julieta sighed, "should we talk to them? I mean we went through the dormido desnudo phase when we were their age," Julieta reasoned pulling warm arepas off her cooktop.
"I know, but what do we tell them, if we tell them its wrong then they'll get the wrong idea of it and think its bad, its perfectly normal, but if we tell them that then they'll still do it, and we won't know when they do it, and that could lead to some awkward conversations or incidents." Pepa told weighing their options.
"I've got an idea," Julieta said
In the garden Luisa Isabela Camilo Mirabel and Dolores were kicking a ball around, when Dolores quirked her ear and said
"Cmon Isa Tia's calling us in," Dolores grabbed her older prima's wrist and ran inside with her, she had no idea why she grabbed her wrist but she did. Plus it was funny to hear isa yelling to slow down behind her
"You called?" Dolores said once the two were in the kitchen with Julieta and Pepa,
"Si, now its come to my attention that the pair of you are sleeping without your nightgowns?" Julieta asked
Both girls looked at each other and then back to Julieta embarrassed to admit their secret.
Julieta took that as a yes, and continued
"It's perfectly normal to experiment with sleeping desnudo, Pepa and I did it when we were your age. But to keep any awkward situations from happening, after breakfast Pepa and I will show you how to make a sign for your doors, that way in the morning, whoever has to wake you up will know to let Pepa or myself wake you." Julieta told to the blushing girls
"Can we make them now while the others are outside?" Dolores piped up
"Si mi nina, I'll go get everything you two will need, go ahead and sit," Pepa said going upstairs to grab her art supplies.
When Pepa returns with pens paper and string, she shows Dolores and Isabela what to do and leaves them to make their own designs. At Least now Pepa wouldn't be shocked to walk into one of their rooms and see an excess of skin
"Thank goodness mamá doesn't wake the kids, Isa would die if she did, and I truly dont like that isa has to uphold a perfect persona all the time when mama is around her," Julieta sighed continuing making breakfast
"I know, maybe we should let her sleep in one day when we know mama will be busy and give her a day to be herself, " pepa suggested
"You're a genius Pepa. We can do that probably tomorrow, mama has some plans with her amigas. We can keep the kids at home and make a day of it," Julieta said as she turned the sausages over
About a year later Luisa had her own sign to hang having also been caught, by Isabela.
"Look Julieta, Isa's showing Lu how to make the little door sign I showed her how to make," Pepa said as a small rainbow sprouted above her head at her nieces' interaction.
"It's good to see her talking to Lu and Mira, mama has her drawn so tight it's rare these days," Julieta said peeking out from behind her book. "Especially now since mama has her yanked tighter than ever with the perfect persona. I really hate that she had to stop wearing her favorite blue dresses in favor of more elegant pink ones to show her maturity"
Pepa agreed and continued smiling over her sobrinas.
Mirabel didn't quite get the chance to go through this phase at the same age her sisters did, due to Antonio being in the nursery with her. But when casita was rebuilt and she finally got her own room she was caught, her nightgown tossed to the chair and her chest against a pillow as she slept soundly.
"Mira, wake up," Julieta said.
The 16 year old slowly woke but once he brain had caught up she yanked her blanket to her chest.
"Mama! I-I" Mira studdered trying to explain
"Mi bebé, calm down, it's nothing to be ashamed about. All the girls went through it, even me and your Tia Pepa," Julieta told handing Mirabel her gown.
"Really?" Mirabel asked
"Yes really. You wouldn't believe how many times I caught both your sisters sleeping on their backs with their chests in the air. And honestly, I don't blame them. Sometimes sleeping nude is a nice change of pace" Julieta said. "After breakfast, ask Isa to show you how to make the sign for your door, she showed Lu about four years ago."
Mira smiled and straightened her gown before heading downstairs.
"it's about time you danced on the wild side. Come on we can all make new ones together, mine just broke and Luisa and Lola's are on the verge of breaking" Julieta heard her eldest say.
Things changed after the fall of Casita, and Julieta has to say seeing her daughters act like sisters again is the best change of them all.

Second mother
Sweet little lily gets her first period -marauders era
Lily Evans was a loveable 4th year girl at Hogwarts school of Witchcraft and Wizardry. Since she was heading off to her first year the week before she turned 11, her parents had never told her about the seven wonders of womanhood, and as far as she believed she’d only be getting taller. She was a late bloomer like her mother, so she wouldnt know anything was any different until she was around 14. Especially since Hogwarts didnt offer a sex education class closest thing you’d get would be in magical biology which even then its more based on the genetics and systems of which are used during pregnancy and such, and it was only offered to 6th years and older.
Her red hair stood up in all directions when she sat up in her bed that winter morning. She’d decided to spend the christmas holiday at Hogwarts since her parents were in romania studying dragons, plus she’d be in good company by padfoot, prongs, and moony, three of the four marauders. Wormtail, better known as Peter Pettigrew was at home with his family for christmas. Lily didn’t expect Sirius, James, or Remus to be awake before noon, so she would have time to shower before her day roaming around the castle with them.
Nature on the other hand, had other plans for the fourth year. When she sat up in bed she felt squishy, like she’d spilled water on herself, but it was warm. She looked underneath the blanket covering her and nearly screamed, but instead of a scream she let out s surprised yelp and clamped the bedsheed down onto her lap tightly.
What was underneath the blanket was startling to put it lightly. On her golden sheets and bright yellow nightgown, was a dark burgundy stain; blood. And to her it looked like a lot of it even if it wasn’t all blood. But she didn’t know this, atleast not yet.
Surprisingly Sirius, and James were awake, Remus was still passed out since he’d recently had to deal with a full moon. To Lily’s dread they knocked on the door to the 4th year girls dormitory.
“Lils baby! Are you awake?” James asked her through the door even though there was no one else in there he still made sure to knock just incase Lily was in any way indecent since Sirius accompanied him most of the time.
“Yes,” Lily said quietly
“Can we come in?” Sirius asked
“Yes,” the redhead answered once more.
The boys opened the door and saw Lily sitting on her four poster, with the curtains open. Looking almost as if she’d been petrified, her skin was even paler and her freckles weren’t nearly as vibrant as usual on her skin. She shifted uncomfortably in the boys’ gazes, until Sirius broke the silence
“Lily? Are you alright? You look like you’ve seen a ghost,” he asked
“Really padfoot? We’re used to seeing ghosts! Its nothing new to see nearly headless nick roaming the tower,” James said,
“Anyway, are you alright? It’s not dragonpox is it? Witch cold? Calico flu? How do you feel? Sniffly? Tired? Feverish? Have you bee-” Sirius was questioning frantically before being cut off by Lily’s frustrated shout, “I’M FINE,”
This outburst brought the boys to silence and Lily nearly to tears. How could she be so mean as to shout at Sirius when all he was doing was trying to help.
“I’m bleeding,” she added after a few moments of the boys stunned silence. The boys immediately began worrying over her again asking where the blood was coming from, if she was coughing it up, the whole lot. Lily’s face turned red with embarrassment, as she finally decided to tell them. “If i tell you’d better not breathe a word of this to another soul or you’ll join the headless hunt before sir Nick,” Lily threatened.
“Ok we solemnly swear to keep our mouths shut,” Sirius and James chorused.
“Ok,” Lily breathed, “down…. there,” Lily whispered to the boys
“Lily baby, do you want me to take you to the hospital wing? I don’t think your supposed to be bleeding, like at all,” James asked.
“Can you get my dressing gown love, then we can go, wanna walk Sirius?” Lily asked
“Of course I do! I want to make sure you’re ok,” Sirius said giving her a hug.
James wrapped the fluffy fabric around Lily and allowed her to put her arms in before she slipped out of bed, making sure to keep the golden sheets out of view from James and Sirius.
They got to the hospital wing in record time since James had decided to try his hand at apparating, something they had all just learned about in charms. When they walked into the hospital wing Madame Pomfrey and Professor McGonagall were talking. They walked in and Madame Pomfrey rushed over leaving Professor McGonagall sitting at her desk in the corner with tea.
“Oh dear what happened now?” Madame Pomfrey questioned.
“Lily’s bleeding,” James said and as a response Lily smacked him on the shoulder.
Madame Pomfrey looked Lily over and her red face, and arms around her waist told her all she needed to know.
“Come with me miss Evans, you two stay put,” Madame Pomfrey told escorting Lily towards the back of the infirmary.
“Lily dear! Are you alright?” McGonagall asked, concerned for Lily. She’d known Lily’s mother Amber Evans from her days of attending Hogwarts, they’d been best friends both being gryffindor and very inteligent. By extension of this Lily aw McGonagall as a second mother because she’d known McGonagall since she was a baby.
Madame Pomfrey gave a quick whisper to McGonagall and immediately McGonagall’s face softened. Before she could say a word Madame Pomfrey told
“Minnie, if you want to help, James and Sirius are worried and curious, maybe give them a little run down,”
Mcgonagall nodded, and started toward the boys while Lily was led into a small office.
“You’ve started your menses haven’t you,” pomfrey asked the poor girl
“I dont know! Mum never told me anything about menses,” Lily said
Good godric Amber, pomfrey thought.
“Right then, basically your menses; or period as everyone calls them now, is a process that prepares your body for pregnancy. The details are unnecessary since you’ll be taking wizarding biology soon, but each month as a result of not being pregnant, your body has to get rid of extra blood and tissue that was built up, ergo resulting in your bleeding. Take these, the instructions are on the side of the box. Oh and this is perfectly normal for a witch your age,” Madame Pomfrey explained showing Lily the box that contained pads. It was small and the label was blue. Madame Pomfrey directed Lily to her personal lavatory so Lily could sort herself out, and once Lily had emerged finally, Madame Pomfrey taught Lily the cleaning spell scourgify doing Lily the favor of performing it on her bloody backside.
Once Lily finally walked out to McGonagall and the boys she could see they looked horrorstricken and McGonagall was suppressing a laugh.
“Ah there you are Lily, you two can head off now if you’d like, Lily, if you’d come with me for a moment,” McGonagall told.
Lily and McGonagall walked to her office and living quarters at the bottom of gryffindor tower, and once the thick wooden door had shut, Lily basically threw herself into McGonagall’s arms.
Minerva happily pulled Lily up onto her lap after seating herself on the sofa nearby,
“How about i owl your mum, and she can come for today and the three of us can spend some time together,” Minerva suggested.
“That’d be nice auntie Minnie ,” Lily said
Minerva decided to let the informal name slide for today since the poor girl had already been through a lot and was more than likely an emotional wreck much like her mother is during times like this. And once Amber had arrived through the floo in Minerva’s office the three witches shared chocolate frogs and happy, embarrassing stories from Amber and Minerva’s years boarding at Hogwarts.
