Radioapple Fic Rec MasterList (Part 1/2)

Disclaimer:

Hey all! As is always the case with rec lists, this is completely subjective and curated to my somewhat picky tastes! For background, I am a panromantic/demisexual 30+ married woman with AuDHD. I've also been in fandom/writing for 20+ years.

My Preferences:

> I love crisp and clean writing, but I can usually overlook grammatical errors/typos if the storytelling is compelling enough. How Al + Lucifer are characterized, however, is extremely important to me. > I gravitate towards top!Lucifer but thoroughly enjoy them as switches (and enjoy reading exclusively top!Al as well).

> I can be picky about my slowburns. I have ADHD so if it takes more than 100k> to hold hands, occasionally my brain goes BRRR and gives up altogether. Absolutely no shade to very slow burns, they can be absolutely beautiful, it's just the way my attention span works.

> I don't read unhappy endings or hurt no comfort fics (who hurt u?). However, if an unhappy or ambiguous ending happens within a series installment, I can continue so long as some sort of happy or hopeful ending is on the horizon. > I don't really read poly fics, I am very much a monogamous RA shipper. However, there are a few fics on this list (like... 2 or 3, very small amount) that there is some kind of background poly relationship happening but the RA boys take center stage.

It goes without saying that this is not an exhaustive list. There are nearly 6k radioapple fics on A03, I am sure I have overlooked some bangers or fan-favorites. These are just MY personal favorites, the ones that I have personally bookmarked to re-read again and again in the future. If I simply listed fics that I liked/enjoyed reading, this list would be 87x times as long.

I organized this list to the best of my ability so that people can 1. find specific tropes they are interested in and 2. avoid potential triggering subject matter. However, at the end of the day, you are in charge of your mental health and are responsible for reading the tags of each fic on this list. Always take care of yourself first.

There are many fics that have overlapping tropes/subject matter. I tried my best to place fics under headers that I found the most fitting. Occasionally, I could not for the life of me PICK ONE, so there are a few fics listed in multiple places.

In an attempt to embrace self-love and pride in my works, I will add my own fics as well.

updating this a little but i decided to change the opera theme to theater theme bc it was too restrictive xD i just love it it bc lucifer's hell is the circus theme (so inherently exploitative and shitty) while lilith's hell is theater (which is more known for its use in human and artistic expression)... like,,, do u guys see the Vision....

Y’know now that it’s out that something in the static has a sequel, I’m going to finally say that the world building in the sequel is both so fun and So Intense GAKSHSJA completely scrapped canon hell bc lucifer isnt there to influence its design, so instead of a circus theme, hell now functions under an opera theme with lilith’s influence being the most palpable part and bc we only had one episode with heaven, i have to figure out that socio-political context too…

Hii I recently came across your fangic Something in the static and got curious so I decided to read it! Only in the span of one day! (Had school on the next day) because apparently I'm Intruged! The way you write is just 🤌 *chef's kiss* and I've been really attached to human al and guardian luci's relationship which why the latest chapter completely ruin me! Oh my favorite chapter is definitely 18 and 19 how you write it is just out of my league! It really struck straight to my heart! And what hurts more is the last of chap 19 it really embed on my mind that even on school I can't focus on anything but that. I've been overthinking what would happen now and feeling bitter about luci and al parting and probably won't see each other again!

It hurt me really and what hurt me more is the frustration of thinking about the last chapter! Ehehe I've gotten out of topic but what I really want to ask is when will the last chapter be updated? I'm not pressuring you! Really just curious because I'm gaslighting myself that Al will possibly be given a second chance and will change for the better and then he and luci and of course his mother will meet and be with each other again and finally al and luci together! Gosh please tell me that will happen, for the sake of my mental health 🥹

Lucifer doesn’t look human like this. He looks better suited memorialized on one of the stained glass windows in his mom’s Church rather than standing in the middle of their living room, waiting for Alastor’s approval. Alastor, as he thinks most anyone would do in this scenario, stares. He doesn’t normally stare, but the outfit is painstakingly beautiful and it suits Lucifer so well. He thinks—no, knows—that if Lucifer were to step out in that parade, people would stop to simply look at him the same way one stops to gaze upon the sun rising over the horizon.

tricky words I always see misspelled in fics: a guide

Viscous/vicious – Viscous is generally used to describe the consistency of blood or other thick liquids. Vicious is used to describe something or someone who is violent. 

Piqued/Peaked/Peeked – To pique someone’s interest is to catch or tease their attention. When something peaks, it reaches its total height or intensity. To peek (at) something is to look briefly, or glance. 

Discrete/Discreet – this is a tough one. Discrete means to be separate, or distinct, i.e., two discrete theories. Conversely, when someone is discreet, they are being secretive or cautious to avoid attention. 

Segue/Segway – one is a transition between things, the other is a thing you can ride at the park and definitely fall off of.

Conscious/Conscience/Conscientious – to be conscious is to be awake, i.e., not unconscious, or to be aware of something. Your conscience is the little voice in your head telling you not to eat the entire pint of ice cream. Finally, to be conscientious is to be good, to do things thoroughly, to be ruled by an inner moral code.

“Charmed,” Alastor says as he takes the offered hand, shakes it, then pointedly wipes his hand on the front of his suit, much to this angel’s consternation.

Or: Alastor attempts to murder the local coffeehouse's barista, but accidentally invites his guardian angel into his life instead.

Alternate Summary: basically, this fic is if u grab what we know of alastor’s backstory, research the 1920s like a thesis, and then slap a silly goofy angel roommate-situationship on top
