I know I am severely late but Happy Autism Awareness and Acceptance Month! May your yipee's be joyous and your 'tism be aut.
...Okay, I am not sure what exactly that would entail either.
But jokes aside, awareness and acceptance come from within. As much as we would love for it to be, some people in the world will never accept those who are different. And unfortunately, there is very little anyone can truly do to change that. But the one thing we do have control over is how we view ourselves. So, accept yourself. Love yourself. As long as you know your worth, nothing anyone else does or says can steal that knowledge from you.
Best Wishes,
The Adventures of TBH and BTW

I found an extremely dope disability survival guide for those who are homebound, bedbound, in need of disability accommodations, or would otherwise like resources for how to manage your life as a disabled person. (Link is safe)
It has some great articles and resources and while written by people with ME/CFS, it keeps all disabilities in mind. A lot of it is specific to the USA but even if you're from somewhere else, there are many guides that can still help you. Some really good ones are:
How to live a great disabled life- A guide full of resources to make your life easier and probably the best place to start (including links to some of the below resources). Everything from applying for good quality affordable housing to getting free transportation, affordable medication, how to get enough food stamps, how to get a free phone that doesn't suck, how to find housemates and caregivers, how to be homebound, support groups and Facebook pages (including for specific illnesses), how to help with social change from home, and so many more.
Turning a "no" into a "yes"- A guide on what to say when denied for disability aid/accommodations of many types, particularly over the phone. "Never take no for an answer over the phone. If you have not been turned down in writing, you have not been turned down. Period."
How to be poor in America- A very expansive and helpful guide including things from a directory to find your nearest food bank to resources for getting free home modifications, how to get cheap or free eye and dental care, extremely cheap internet, and financial assistance with vet bills
How to be homebound- This is pretty helpful even if you're not homebound. It includes guides on how to save spoons, getting free and low cost transportation, disability resources in your area, home meals, how to have fun/keep busy while in bed, and a severe bedbound activity master list which includes a link to an audio version of the list on Soundcloud
Master List of Disability Accommodation Letters For Housing- Guides on how to request accommodations and housing as well as your rights, laws, and prewritten sample letters to help you get whatever you need. Includes information on how to request additional bedrooms, stop evictions, request meetings via phone, mail, and email if you can't in person, what you can do if a request is denied, and many other helpful guides
Special Laws to Help Domestic Violence Survivors (Vouchers & Low Income Housing)- Protections, laws, and housing rights for survivors of DV (any gender), and how to get support and protection under the VAWA laws to help you and/or loved ones receive housing and assistance
Dealing With Debt & Disability- Information to assist with debt including student loans, medical debt, how to deal with debt collectors as well as an article with a step by step guide that helped the author cut her overwhelming medical bills by 80%!
There are so many more articles, guides, and tools here that have helped a lot of people. And there are a lot of rights, resources, and protections that people don't know they have and guides that can help you manage your life as a disabled person regardless of income, energy levels, and other factors.
Please boost!
#disability#chronic pain#chronic illness#actually disabled#invisible disability#chronically ill#I am not exactly sure how to tag this so I am copying from previous reblogs.#But still- signal boost.

Okay, so I have done nothing for Disability Pride Month. Zero comics, zero asks answered. Hell, I barely reblogged anything to here. And for a moment, I was quite upset about this. Because it wasn’t a case of me being too busy or the like. In fact, I have worked on a myriad of other things. I worked on everything except this blog. Unfortunately, I just could not (and never can) really control what I end up focusing on and subsequently dumping all of my energy into.
I felt really guilty about this, until I realized something:
It’s okay.
Beating myself up over something like this isn’t helpful. In fact, I would argue that it’s actively harmful. Trust me, wallowing in guilt does not do much to spark productivity. So, I started to remind myself of something I think a lot of people forget:
I’m trying my best.
And that is the one message I want to convey to all of you this Disability Pride Month. It’s okay if things are hard for you. It’s okay if you can’t seem to do as much, or do as well, as other people. It’s okay.
You are trying your best.
You are trying in a society that was not built for people like you. You are trying your best with the brain or body you have.
And yes, this goes for physically disabled individuals as well. I know my blog caters more to neurodivergence (because that is what I personally have experience with), but this is just as valid for you guys. You are trying you best in a world that isn’t always accessible, or perhaps judges you for whatever you have going on. And that’s valid. And your valid. I won’t go on extensively with this point, mainly because there are people much more qualified to speak about this particular facet of the disabled community. But I just wanted to mention you guys because you matter too.
No matter who you are, or what you are dealing with, don’t be too hard on yourself. Try your best, and push yourself when you want to (and when it’s healthy!!!), but do not berate yourself. Trust me, there are plenty of ignorant people who will try to do that, do not do it to yourself. You deserve kindness and understanding. And again, the world won’t always provide what you deserve. But you can give that to yourself. And we can give it to each other.
So, Happy Pride!
From,
The Adventures of TBH and BTW.

Not me casually misgendering BTW in this random post. My apology video will be out as soon as I find my ukulele /jk.
Could we perhaps see some post drying TBH and BTW? Do they fluff up from static or just look extremely angry, or both?
TBH is an aquatic animal so I don’t think they’d be all that phased. BTW though…
My dude’s fur is so fluffed up it’s going out of his line art.
#the adventures of tbh and btw#I was weirdly upset when I noticed this. Not exactly sure why tbh.#HAHA! Get it? TBH?#Also I am referring to the blatant he/him-ing present in the original post.#Dude is gender-neutral in my book (although no hate if someone thinks otherwise).

Stay hydrated
My dude, I am not sure if that neon concoction your buddy is slurping is hydrating them (kidding, kidding, I love the picture), but I appreciate the reminder, as I have not drank anything today. I should probably do that. /gen

I enjoy the adhd creature. Very relatable.
I am so glad! I am always super nervous when portraying them because I do not have ADHD myself. I do research and base them off of my ADHD friends though, so I am glad the portrayal is still relatable.accurate (at least to you). /gen

Greetings bugs and worms!
This comic is a little different than what I usually do but I worked real hard on it—Maybe I'll make more infographic stuff in the future this ended up being fun. Hope you learned something new :)
If you are still curious and want to learn more about OCD, you can visit the International OCD Foundation's website. I also recommend this amazing TED ED video "Starving The Monster", which was my first introduction to the disorder and this video by John Green about his own experience with OCD.
The IOCDF's website can also help you find support groups, therapy, and has lots of online guides and resources as well if you or a loved one is struggling with the disorder. It is very comprehensive!
Reblog to teach your followers about OCD
(But also not reblogging doesn't make you evil, silly goose)
#This is so amazing.#I’ve never seen it explained so clearly and simply.#Kudos to OP for making a comic that is both informative and artistically spectacular!#Beautiful job!
