2022 Christmas Postcard🎄 Merry Christmas and Happy Holidays! ❤️💚 . I wanted to specifically design a holiday postcard this year! I’m honestly really proud of this specific piece because I definitely pushed myself a lot with my workflow and the details. Wrapping up this drawing, it’s starting to really hit that 2022 is coming to an end and honestly I don’t know where the year went. It’s been a pretty chaotic 12 months but I’m glad it’s ending on a good note. There is so much I still want to do and, as always, just not enough time. To this day it amazes me that Neil getting taken by his father isn’t the final climax of the book like??? You mean to tell me the thing he’s been scared of for like two whole books happens quite literally 55% of the way through the last book and then when he makes it out we get smacked with hotel reunion, the shower scene, foxes vacation and THEN the ending with riko????

Okay so this has very probably already been done before, but the thought stuck with me so I had to share it with y'all:

Andreil Soulmate au - you only see colors after you’ve looked into your soulmates eyes for the first time

The burst of colors is the real reason why Neil feels like he can’t breathe after he looks up to see who slammed the racquet in his chest. He’s used to pain, but - colors? There’s no reaction from Andrew, but Neil is too stunned to really care. There’s colors now. Colors. The onslaught of bright orange at the Foxes court beats the rest. Neil loves it. But Andrew doesn’t say anything. Ever. So of course Neil assumes it’s one sided. Of course he thinks he doesn’t get more and of course he accepts it. But it’s Andrew. It’s only ever Andrew for him. Later Neil will go to the Nest and it’s almost like it’s the distance from Andrew that drains the colors from that place. Everything just seems so much more alive when Neil is back.

For Andrew there is no burst of color when he sees Neil. Only some time later, when he gets off his meds the next time, there’s something. It’s not a burst. It’s just a slow leak.. some colors here, some colors there. Mostly gone again when he takes his meds. Naturally, Andrew assumes it’s a fuck up. A glitch. A mistake. Naturally, Andrew assumes he doesn’t actually deserve a soulmate. He’s Andrew Minyard of course. So he ignores the colors. Monsters don’t get soulmates.

But eventually - eventually he starts putting it together. He’s sober. The colors stay and so does Neil. And why else would he be able to see colors, if not to see the vibrant red of Neil’s hair, the bright blue of Neil’s eyes. Andrew knows.

They never talk about it, but one day Andrew comments on a color and Neil is absolutely fucking shocked.  There’s a silent hiss of ‘idiot’, a hushed ‘yes or no?’ and the rest is history.

the original foxes, much less the new ones, never really saw Andrew and Neil hug. In fact, between all of them, they don’t think they had EVER seen them hug. Touches here and there, glances, them standing extremely close? Sure loads. The occasional Neil has his legs over Andrew at the team movie nights? Yep. Accidentally walking in on them making out? Absolutely. But a hug? Never.

That was until Neils last game as a Fox. All of the original foxes came and were sitting in the locker rooms (by luck of fate it was a home game) and they are all sitting around the chairs while the team finishes getting ready. Neil is of course, already prepared, but Andrew was late. Something about his flight being delayed and then traffic to the stadium being awful. Neil is fidgety. He knows Andrew is coming, knows he’ll be there to watch the game, knows he’s staying for the next week but Neil wanted to see him now. The foxes can tell he’s trying to pay attention to the conversation but his mind is elsewhere.

“Neil, he’ll be here”, Renee assured him as it was almost time to go out. The new foxes were starting to filter into the room.

“I get 50 dollars if he’s late, so I don’t mind”, Aaron shrugs.

Neil flicks him a glare and Matt nudges him. Before Neil can retaliate though.

“Like I’d give you the satisfaction,” Andrew says from the doorway.

Neil spins and locks eyes on him. The others thought he’d be effectively jumping with joy that Andrew was finally here. But instead, he simply relaxes, walks straight over and into Andrews arms. Andrew has one hand cradling Neil’s head, the other on his back and Neil’s arms are tight around him as he shoves his head into Andrews neck.

The new foxes, who are all in the room now, are gobsmacked. The originals, while not as taken a back, are still shocked at the tender display of affection.

“None of us bet on this,” Allison complains, “a good pool gone to waste!”

“Stop your whining, and quite acting like this is groundbreaking, it’s nothin’ new”, Wymack says as he enters behind, glancing up at Neil peeling himself off Andrews body.

“Wait, coach you’ve seen them hug before?!” Nicky asks.

“You’re telling me it’s been 4 years and you haven’t?”

Art vs Artist 2022✨❤️ . I’ve seen this trend multiple times but never did it! Hopefully I can make it a yearly thing :)) This year has been very interesting - life wise and art wise. I’ve officially been an art major for about half a year, I’ve been (somewhat) consistently drawing, I’ve been planning some other fun cool things art-related but isn’t quite yet in the works. It’s been a crazy ride but I like where I’ve ended up. It is really rewarding to see that I am actually improving, not just in the last several years but I would say even in the last couple of months! It’s not perfect and there is so much I need and want to learn but that’s for future me. So, future me, please keep drawing and painting and creating art as often as you can. I hope you will begin to learn and grasp the things you’ve only just begun figuring out. I hope you can get one step closer to putting your ideas and visions from your head out into the world.
