Drew Kyra as a younger version of herself, prior to her achieving immortality!

Little lore thing: as a mortal, her name was Valorie. As she got used to her new way of experiencing the flow of time, she began to forget things about herself in her malaise. Her name was one of the things she lost, and she chose to adopt the moniker of Kyra instead. That's the name she was given in folklore and scripture, so it just... stuck.

At the risk of sounding pretentious - her actions created legends, and the legends created her.

Expanding on my previous post of Kyra and Jason meeting, more lore stuff about the eternal storm!

Far before recorded history, an eternal blizzard fell over the northern regions of Aurelia. Harsh winds, dangerous monsters, and intense cold that bites into the earth have made this mysterious land inhabitable by common folk. However, is rumored that somewhere within the storm's center, there is a being of mythical power, guarded by mile-high walls of ice and steel, said to hold the knowledge of a thousand lifetimes. This promise of knowledge and power is enough to convince some brave few to venture into the snow, but fewer still return from their quest.

Regardless of the season, the storm cruelly persists. To this day, it is said that only one man ever made it to the center.

This piece shows Kyra and Jason meeting for the first time. What would initially be a tense first encounter would come to be a defining moment in the history of the world, though neither of them knew that at first.

I just like to imagine how bewildered Kyra must be to find a human at her doorstep, considering her home is on top of a mountain, in the center of an eternal blizzard, surrounded by massive walls of steel and ice. How tenacious to brave all that, amirite?

Last on the character roster, and our first solo act is Katherine Crowe - a wandering swordswoman and a soldier of fortune.

Quiet and thoughtful, Katherine tends to keep to herself. Wielding a mysterious buster sword, she wanders the country and takes on contract work to support herself, as few have her acumen for combat. She specializes in monster hunting and can slay any beast for the right price. She isn't all muscle though - she has an incredible understanding of creatures and their weaknesses, and a keen eye for intention. She doesn't care much for people and often pushes company away, but her fearsome reputation hides a genuinely thoughtful and kind woman. She claims loyalty to no guild or faction, but has worked with various groups on occasion if their interests align.

Also, she likes Lady Gaga.

Another lad to get the L O R E treatment, Jason Adarna! He is a wandering mage and healer.

Not much is known about his past, but he started his journey as a student of the mythical last dragoness, Kyra. Under her, he honed his healing abilities to perfection, and can heal most physical injuries. What he lacks in magical ability to heal the sick and feeble, he makes up for in knowledge about other methods of caring for ailments. He is infectiously jovial and a social chameleon, able to charm most people with his optimism and carefree facade. However, he is much more analytical and calculating than he lets on, with a talent for manipulation that he is well aware. He travels with his pet mimic Mint, which takes the form of a scarf.

Rounding out the guild trio is Luther Hawke, a brawler and an archaeologist.

Luther didn't come from much in terms of wealth or education, but he always had a strong sense of justice and a strong ability to perceive things as they are. Although he had previously fallen in with some bad people out of desperation, he now uses his strength to protect his friends and make a living as a guild scout. He does have a penchant for tinkering that he inherited from his childhood friend Khali, and a fascination with old tech, which makes him an asset when exploring the ruins of ancient civilizations. He is a loyal member of the guild registry and is often on the front line whenever new threats pop up.

More character lore, woooo!

Next up is Khali Alicanto, a genius engineer.

Khali could never quell her love of machines or her natural knack for understanding their mechanisms. She's blunt, crass, and more than a little forward, but she can fix any machine and is often the one that can get her and her best friend Luther out of trouble (which she often gets them into in the first place). After dropping out of her residency at a prominent weapons manufacturing company, she returned home to settle old scores and reconnect with her old friend. She now works for the guild registry as a junior engineer and is the first point of contact for many of the more technical aspects of guild work.

Alright, now that I have a bit more footing, time to dig into the LORE a bit more. Starting with this piece - one of my old favorites and generally my go-to for lovely desktop backgrounds.

A long time ago, an ancient warlord was sealed away under the earth. He raged against his confinement, the chains that bound him rattling against his stone prison, but no anger could break his constraints.

Eventually, the warlord grew tired, and fell into an eternal slumber. As time grew old, the chains around his ankles grew brown with rust, and the roots that wove into his back sprouted flora. His flesh fell away from his body, and his bones turned to dust.

One day, he opened new eyes - no longer a mortal being, his soul resided in a body of stone. As large as the mountains in which he slept, he guarded them as if they were his keep, waiting for a war that ended thousands of years ago.
