lucky
a kind silence when interruption is anticipated,
a response untainted by aged opinion,
a knowing smile in place of bewilderment;
if you are lucky,
sometimes life surprises

the other side of the glass
he is a man on the other side of the glass, he wears his headphones as tightly around his ears as possible, he doesn't want the air to get in, he wants to drown, he drowns it out, the sound of the humanity. he doesn't listen to the words that anyone is saying, he only reads their lips, reads between the lines, reads the body language, speaks it back to them. he doesn't care to know how they interpret; the sound of their spare change clunking into his metal pail is enough of a response for him - true intimacy: an exhange of goods.
(boy are we good at it)

maybe we lie to ourselves
saying "we are tameable"
"we are domesticated"
but it is all a ruse –
we are the raccoon who
only wants the cat food
and has figured out
the best way of obtaining it

the lack of "time for" often
does not indicate the necessity;
adhd or not - let your heart
guide you to what the cosmos
had intended for you and
you will never know boredom

where were you?
i went looking for you and did not find you
i called out into the woods
you were just here with me
i searched up and down
all the trails that we made
before i decided to go home
before i remembered the way back
and i've shed all my tears
and i've discovered years
have gone by, years
have aged me - years!
have they aged you too?
i wish i knew

what if military doesn't keep you "safe"
what if it keeps you content and rolling in your material matrix ?
would you still support your troops?

the biggest scam in the modern consumerist american lifestyle is young persons being led to believe they CAN and SHOULD have/desire/work for things that they cannot afford (without some form of credit or payment plan).
when you stop wanting things you can't afford, you find meaning/value and satisfaction in the things you already have, or the LACK of certain things, especially what would require additional maintenance and therefore additional funds, and you realize you don't owe the world around you more than 30-40 hours of your focused consciousness.
i was speaking to an older coworker of mine who works longer hours than i do, justifying longer shifts and overtime because "bills have to be paid", and i could sense that he was trying to impress upon me that one is not fully an adult with a "life" unless you spend thursday nights paying bills and saturdays at work.
but in reality, if you've been duped into thinking you should purchase more than a couple things that require years of paying a bill (especially with interest) toward it, have you really matured past impressionable youth? when do physical maturity and wisdom of value intersect?
i believe your health is your wealth, and long work hours take away from your own ability to heal and care for yourself. and yet employers expect you to perform at 100% of your capacity for as long as you're punched in, with very few breaks or interruptions. but what does that say about their concern for your health? aren't you just helping them pay their own bills anyway?
"don't buy once till you can buy twice" – pretty sure i heard that first from a hip hop song several years ago, but it's literally the key to being financially independent and one step ahead of parasitic charlatans. if your environment is too expensive, it's time to pack up and do a little traveling.
