This is what making art feels like. I can do anything but also I am capable of nothing. Both are somehow simultaneously true. The lines "I've been drawing for years. I'm a beginner," hit me so fucking hard. Oof.

So I found this old digital artwork I never finished-- Me as a character from Asagao Academy! :D

I never uploaded it because I wanted to fix the proportions-- I have a half-finished more “realistic” version somewhere, but ultimately I let it sit too long.

Also I guess I was trying to experiment with my art style a bit? I tried really hard to capture an honest depiction of myself if I was actually in that world.

Asagao!Krystal pulls regular all-nighters to get those good ol’ financial aid qualifying grades. She rolls up to art class in the morning just barely on time with an art portfolio in one hand, a mug of coffee in the other, and bags under her eyes for days. People think she’s a different person when she wears her hair down versus in a messy bun. Don’t mind her severe RestingBitchFaceTM-- she’s just tired. And probably too anxious to function.

You don’t even have to like it ironically per se.

If it makes you happy, or you can find some semblance of enjoyment from it, how “garbage” is it actually? It may be a train wreck of a film/game/comic/video, but if you find some sort of enjoyment from it, it has value. Even if that value only exists to you.

Embrace the trash, people.

okay here’s my controversial opinion of the day

it’s okay if the things you like aren’t, like, artistic masterpieces.

not everything has to be deep and full of symbolism and a groundbreaking. it’s okay to just like things because they’re fun or goofy or have characters you really like. it’s honest to god okay to say the things you like are bad, especially since all standards of artistic merit are basically made up anyway. 

enjoy the garbage for what it is.
