finished reading SOTR and my heart is broken into uncountable pieces. since the very first chapter, all i did was gasp at all the twists suzanne collins was adding. I JUST WANT TO GIVE HAYMITCH A BIG HUG AND TELL HIM HE DESERVES ALL THE LOVE IN THE WORLD. i also want snow to die a more torturous death because suddenly im not happy how he died such an easy death.

arcane is such a one-of-kind show. the animation? ABSOLUTELY GORGEOUS. the plotline? PERFECT. it has complexities and every character is such badass that you can never truly hate them. i personally cried when silco met his tragic ending. SO MANY SCENES GENUINELY MAFE ME GASP, especially ACT THREE OF SEASON TWO. a proper rollercoaster that kept me on the edge. and i have so so much for jinx in my heart because she believed that she caused a lot of bad around her but she was also the best thing to happen to so many people. AND ISHA BABY? i want to keep her in my pocket and protect her. VI AND CAIT STEAMY SCENE? HYECK YEAH! ambessa and mel were such a badass mother-daughter duo. viktor arcane has to be one of the characters ever.

he's gay. he's terminally ill. he's suicidal. he's from league of legends. he's in a toxic relationship with an orb. he also might be the orb(???). he bullshitted his way into the academy by pretending he went there. he rizzed up a guy so he wouldn't kill himself. he then tried to impress said guy by breaking into his boss's lab. then when he got caught he tried to play it off by saying he thought this big intimidating door was his bedroom door and he was just trying to sneak a guy in there. he nearly died because hetero sex was happening like a mile away. kinda. he took illegal drugs. he's also the apprentice of the guy who's making the illegal drugs and never mentions it. he's inspired off of the tale of frankenstein's monster. he got shot by a missle and fucking died. when he came back to life he immediately broke up his messy gay situationship and became jesus fucking christ.

The worst part about Liam Payne dying is that people are posting about “the switch up is crazy”

Like no. He was an abuser and made horrible decisions, but nobody wanted him to die. He was getting hate for an INCREDIBLY valid reason, but we all recognized that he needed mental and physical help. He needed to go to rehab. He needed to get away from drugs and alcohol and improve upon himself away from the public. No one wanted him to die.

We’re not mourning the life of an abuser, we are mourning the part of him that we adored and looked up to for a massive part of our childhood/ teenage years. He was a huge part of how I was introduced to my love of music. And yes, he did horrible things and made horrible decisions and over the last few years has been anything but admirable, but none of us wanted this.

Maya didn’t want this. And everyone saying that it’s her fault can actually go burn in hell. She likely already blames herself enough. She likely already wishes she hadn’t spoken up about it out of the guilt that she likely feels. You guys commenting all over the socials about how this is her fault and “are you happy now?” Are actually horrible people.

A 7 year old boy just lost his father. A woman just lost her long term boyfriend. Two parents just lost their son. Several young children just lost their uncle. Show some fucking respect. Joking about it and hating on people who had nothing to do with what happened is not doing anything but twist the knife for the people who this has ACTUALLY effected.

i just finished reading 1984 by george orwell and it has me feeling UNWELL.

1) no female will continue boinking a guy when they say to her face that he wanted to r word her and then unalive her when he first say her. I HATED WINSTON FOR SAYING THAT TO JULIA

2) it was such a slow read in the beginning but the last part had me on a chokehold because it went downhill so fast and had me hooked.

3) the whole concept of doublethink and thoughtcrime is so crazy???? i need to scream about this book because i cannot get it out of my system. winston being played my mr. charrington and o’brien made me feel bad about him.

4) julia saying that sex is their biggest weapon of revolution because they don’t want you orgasming and want that hysteria to use in wars and stuff is insane but makes a lot of sense.

5) i’m actually scared at how it’s human nature to throw anyone under the bus when you’re facing something you’re shit scared about. when o’brien said that it’s not cowardly to clutch at a rope when you’re falling down or breathe in deep air after feeling like you were drowning but it’s something normal affected me sm😭😭

6) I HAVE SM MORE TO SAY BUT I NEED TO SAH IT OUT LOUD AND SCREAM IT BECAUSE THIS BOOK JAS SUCCESSFULLY ALTERED MY BRAIN CHEMISTRY

Suzanne Collins has me deranged.

We know from the Ballad of Song Birds and Snakes that many of the features of the modern Hunger Games are Snow's invention, including those that motivate the districts, like prizes. It's fair to assume he likely came up with the idea for tesserae, it's an easy way to keep the districts well fed while encouraging/forcing participation and general involvement in the games. It's a great reminder, even the food you eat is linked to the games themselves. Tesserae is a type of tile work commonly associated with Romans which Collins draws a lot of inspiration from in her depiction of the Capital. It has also in the past been used as a token. In this case, you take the token of food in exchange for extra names in the bowl. Now that's fucking excellent on it's own, real neat bit of linguistic worldbuilding.

BUT what really gets me, what truly fucks me up is that Snow didn't name it that because he's like a language nerd. Tigris had to use tile buttons, tesserae buttons on his shirt during songbirds because they couldn't afford anything else. Snow inherently associates that material with poverty, specifically with the lack of food he had during that time. As a result tesserae represents poverty starvation and desperation to everyone in the districts. Snow is so god dam self obsessed he imbedded ,intentionally or not , personal fucking references to himself within the districts.

AND THAT is why Collins is so crazy to me that detail is tiny, you truly would not notice and in the grand scheme it's not that important but that's woman is on her shit and she's fucking thinking her thoughts and its genius. HER MIND UGH. truly has me messed.

one of the reasons why i love tbosas so much is because not once did suzanne collins romanticise the villainising of coryo. he had plenty plenty opportunities to choose the nicer path, but he repeatedly chose to put himself above and choose the path that benefitted him the most. he was always materialistic and ungrateful and very condescending to so many people. and not once did suzanne excuse it or try to sugarcoat it.

this has been said before in a myriad of ways but i have to say it again. i am obsessed with how his traitor’s ass thought he won, how he genuinely believed he’d wiped their memory from the face of the earth as if they’d never existed. only to watch a fierce, unlikeable misfit of a girl sprinkle flowers like precious breadcrumbs over a fallen tribute’s body in compassion, to honor their life in the midst of bloodshed. only for her to inspire rebellion with the very song he thought he’d silenced forever. only for her lover, a kind boy with a perchance for performing for & winning over the crowds, to possess a goodness so true that nothing could poison & weaponize him, not for long, not for good. retribution did come for coriolanus snow. sejanus & lucy gray & the districts were avenged tenfold & i fucking love that his doom & destruction was wrought by two children unknowingly carrying their ghosts.
