ORGANIC TONES MUSIC
1. Small 6 minutes interview about Organic Tones Music:
vimeo
This is the temporary page of Organic Tones Music Inc.
Organic Tones Music is an ambitious startup exploring new musical harmonies and new ways to play music, using innovative touch instruments experimentations. We plan to bring the first prototypes on the App Store soon, for iPads, iPhone, and later for Apple Vision Pro and DAWs.
Tumblr media
After 3 centuries of using the same 12 notes (see the .pdf), could music be on its path to set free from fixed musical scales and let thrive dynamic harmonies? In order to create new musical harmonies, new musical instruments need visuals evolving in real time, and it is becoming possible as we already entered into the age of touch screens and MR-headsets, that are getting bigger and smarter at a fast pace. (Bigger iPads, Apple Vision Pro)
The Organic Tones Music project, driven by Alexandre Barthélémy, have employed inspired software developers like Roth Michaels (Boston) and Nick Rothwell (London), for sessions of work in Berlin. Together they started building prototypes of musical instruments on iPad and wacom-screen, connected with realtime-pitch-shifted electroacoustic cello and violins.
We hope to be able to make some real video demo/concert ASAP, but for now you can a sneak peak in the video above, and also:
2. A small First Keynote PDF. 3. A more detailed .pdf presentation about the real deal with musical harmony and why Organic Tones Music exist.
4. A few more images/videos of some first experiments on fb: Facebook Page.
5. A few additional sound experiments but it’s not yet the most handsome music as those crazy keyboards are kind of wild horses we still have to break: Soundcloud.
We are starting with Organic Tones Music Inc. in New York City and invite musicians / developers to try/help out with the first prototypes, and develop playful creative musical apps for tablets and smartphones.  Contact us if you want to be part of this.

TANGO + CONTACT + ZOUK SOCIALS
« Alex is a multi-skilled artist, community builder and dancer. (…) He is provoking new thoughts and emotions wherever he goes, all the while bringing a calming and connective vibe (…) »
- Senzo, performer artist and co-founder of Érosphère, main festival of interactive sensual arts in Paris, France.
Tumblr media
After expanding rioplatense tango in France being the youngest tango teacher in France, Alexandre Barthelemy experimented new way to bring newcomers to social tango, using contact-improvisation techniques to relax them while learning tango steps. This way, he ignited the alternative tango scene in Paris, Berlin and Buenos Aires**, Buenos Aires where he taught his dynamic and contemporary style of tango weekly during two years to the young Argentinian tango crowd. He is also exploring interaction between tango and Brazilian zouk dance. (innovative Tango+Zouk socials in Paris and Buenos Aires in 2023-2024.***)

What are tango + contact social?
-> If you would mix together wine and cheese you’d get an unappetizing purple paste, but tasting a little bit of one after the other is a wonderful experience. The same way, Tango and Contact-Improvisation dances are not easy to mix, but joining them in the same experimental dance social, alternating one after the other, liberates unique energies.

10/2018 - Berlin - Tango class for contemp/street dancers:
Tumblr media
(Jasminka Stenz & Alexandre Barthelemy at Club Oval Berlin)
Alexandre and Jasminka believe in contemporary dance to enhance the most tremendous aspect of tango, the free improvisation. Tango was born in the 1890s out of a mix of black and whites dances. Some suggest that it would have lost its african roots. Alexandre and Jasminka will show you that it didn’t.

Contact-Improvisation
Contact-Improvisation (or CI) is the freest partner dance in the world. Everyone comes with different levels of comfort with touch, taking time to listen to each dance intently and with care. Invented in the 70s, Contact-Improvisation is danced during social practices called « jams ». There is no special body type for contact (disabled people sometimes join). There is no special mood for contact, everyone creating their own vibe on the moment. There is no special music for contact, sometimes there is no music or often eclectic or experimental music)
Alexandre Have been facilitating many event involving CI, and he uses a lot of CI elements in his tango and shibari teaching. (Experimental rope-dance workshops in France, Ukraine, Germany, Argentina, Uruguay, Denmark) He organized practices of CI interlaced with tango, participating to the avant-garde tango scene in Buenos Aires and Europe
