Mothers Day I’ve said it once and I’ll say it again, my mum is better than yours. And if she isn’t I’m willing to conduct a competition! (I’ll be the judge of course) Through her pearls of wisdom and constant generosity (aswell as juggling a full time job) she never fails to look after me no matter where in the country I am. Not many would sit up with you at 6am when you’re having a breakdown and make you a cup of tea on their only day off. In the words of the ever insightful spice girls ‘mama, I love you’

She is currently rehearsing for the West End Revival Concert of Godspell and Equally the Musical in April. And one of my closest friends Catherine Irlam who upon leaving Swish of the Curtain Theatre School studied at the American Musical Theatre Academy and is currently appearing as Lady Capulet in Venturewolf's Romeo and Juliet. The music is coming together wonderfully and I can't wait to share our rehearsals with everyone!

Putting it together

Smack in the face.

That's exactly what happened to me. Metaphorically.

After dragging myself to work for 7 days on the trot and dealing with London's finest on the underground, I got chatting to a colleague about my upcoming gig.

  I relayed the saga of my audition joy and the brick wall of the British pound I was facing. To which their reply was a bit of a shock to me.

A similar situation to mine had arisen and they chose not to see it through, on more than one occasion. As a consquence, a job not as fulfilling as hoped became the norm with a few titbits on the side to keep the creative juices flowing so to speak.

And it hit me.. That's why I'm doing this.

I'm not going to lie, I've been on a slight hiatus, not just due to work and production comittments, but to a spout of  deflation. The feeling of the unreachable. And then I heard that and it kicked me up the butt a bit.

I wish I was the kind of character who only needs a little picture and a slogan to keep my chin up

    but its remembering the rejections from drama schools at 18 and the lack of auditions coming through last year, watching my wonderfully talented peers in productions getting acclaim that gets under my skin.

So what if I spend nine hours a day doing something slightly less satisfying?
