Hello again beloveds, I wish I did not have to make another post asking for help - I've finally managed to get more fully on my feet since leaving my abusive family!! I've taken a lot of big steps & everything!! But I have been hit with a problem that could kick me back down to the pits easily :'D

My tooth got cracked while I was still in an abusive environment, & it has decayed to the point where it is killing the nerve, making a root canal an urgent necessity. It has been hurting for more than a year, worse and worse, since I got hit hard enough to crack it.

I got in with a more affordable dentist office in my area to see how much it would cost, whether a root canal is still viable (it is!! Thank goodness!), etc, & the estimate they gave me for the root canal & the crown comes altogether to about $2331.

A good friend of mine here has offered to lend me a great deal towards that amount, on top of what I have managed to get together, which means I am just under halfway there in order to prevent my tooth from becoming even more of a nightmareishly painful infection or spreading to other teeth or some other horror. I did a lot of research & reached out to other places in the area, this is the lowest cost I could get while being done in any reasonable amount of time.

Okay, here's a question: Who do you think is the original, Diavolo or Doppio?

Because I think a case could be made for both possibilities.

so i get why people discuss this, but i don't think either of them is necessarily "the original." if you look at them through the lens of real-life DID, then they've been a system since whatever early childhood trauma they went through. either diavolo and doppio both existed back then, or they had/have other alters.

my personal opinion on doppio is that his identity solidified when they ran away from sardinia and started passione. he has no memories of their childhood and his whole identity is based around being the underboss, so that makes the most sense to me! diavolo probably existed earlier - he refers to himself when talking about their childhood ("the one who took that photo... is me!") and his mentality seems shaped by those experiences. plus he kept the name diavolo, which is apparently their legal birth name according to canon, although that still seems kind of stupid to me given that they were raised by a priest lol

if you want to look at their situation as something more supernatural as implied in the anime, then they've had two souls since birth. 🤷‍♂️ so either way i think it's kind of a moot point. as always, the writing is very ambiguous about everything and lots of interpretations make sense, but those are my thoughts on it!
