CHAPTER 5 Discussion in this thread!
Some Questions to think about. Feel free to answer all or any as you see fit!
Do you work with the Sun in your magical practice?
Do you use lunar cycles in your gardening? Do you use a farmers almanac to help plan your magical work?
When working with trees do you choose fresh/live branches or do you use already discarded pieces?
There is a lot of reference information on trees, flowers, and herbs in this chapter. Do you have a favorite for use in your magic?
Do you ‘purify’ your stones before/after use? Do you program your stones?
What I liked:
I like that ‘nature’ is more than ‘just’ the earth and includes the entire natural system (above, on plane, and below)
I like that the author talks about the power of working with the sun. This seems timely with this heat wave! The sun is often overlooked for the cool mystic of the moon, but especially in the Central Valley we shouldn’t overlook this vast energy source. I also like that the author took time to iterate that there are different energies for different times of day just like there are for moon phases throughout the month. I am currently contemplating how the differences in the moon cycle length (~29 days) versus the sun cycle length (~` 24 hours) can play in our magic. Slow burn vs fast burn and all that.
I like that the author went into the rules of ethical Wildcrafting and why those rules are in place. I also liked that they urged the reader to look up local laws and to purchase a book on local plants. (my preference is Western Garden by Sunset, The California Wildlife Habitat Garden, and The California Native Landscape.
What I didn’t like:
Not much. This section has a lot of reference information that is helpful but brief. It should be used as a jumping off point for a deeper understanding that could be very rewarding if given the chance.

CHAPTER 4 Discussion in this thread!
Some Questions to think about. Feel free to answer all or any as you see fit!
Chapter four starts out stating the importance of understanding how the seasons affect your geographical location. How do you feel those changes in a local like the Central Valley?
The author also stated the lack of importance of specific sabbat dates in green witchery instead opting for nature to announce the arrival. Is this something you adhere to or is your preference the calendar date?
There is a section in chapter 4 dedicated to the tides of the year that is separate from the four seasons or the wheel of the year. Is this an idea you work with in your practice? Do you feel these tides in your life/magic?
The rest of the chapter is dedicated to meditations and rituals to try for each season/equinox. Did you try any of these?

These are questions regarding the third chapter of The Green Witch by Arin Murphy-Hiscock. Feel free to answer all or any as you see fit!
“In green witchcraft, one of the most important practices is constantly reestablishing your understanding of nature as it is now around you” Do you agree? How do you go about this?
The author relayed that the best way to learn about your current environment is to learn more about your neighborhood. How well do you know your neighborhood? Have you done the exercise given in this chapter walking your neighborhood learning about the plants, stones, energies etc that surround you and your home? Did it help your practice?
The author touted the importance of grounding. What is your take? Do you ground regularly?
There is an entire section in chapter three on the four elements and how to sense, invoke, and meditate on them. Are the elements a part of your regular practice in any way?
The last section of chapter is all about the senses and exercises for connecting with all six with the idea that you can become desensitized due to the sheer abundance of data hitting your senses all day every day. Do you agree with this idea? Did you do the exercises? Did focusing on one sense help you reconnect to that sense?

These are questions regarding the second chapter of The Green Witch by Arin Murphy-Hiscock. Feel free to answer all or any as you see fit!
The author relayed that “the secular life itself is what is sacred to the green witch”. Do you agree? How do you (or would you) incorporate this concept into your life and magical work?
The author relayed that the green witch needs to balance seven energy centers in her practice: Harmony, Health, Love, Happiness, Peace, Abundance, and Protectin. Do you agree? Would you add/remove any focuses?
The author shared 11 tools every green witch should have: Herbs/Plants, Your Hands, Journal, Cup, Mortar and Pestle, Bowls, Knife/Sissors, Staff, Gauze, Power Bag. Do you agree? Would you add/remove any essential tools?
There is an entire section in chapter two on making your home a sacred space. Have you done this?
The last section of chapter two is about creating sacred space outside your home. Have you done this?

These are questions regarding the first chapter of The Green Witch by Arin Murphy-Hiscock. Feel free to answer all or any as you see fit!
How did you feel about the author's description of the Green Path?
The author relayed that the Green Path has three distinct concepts; healing, harmony, and balance. Those concepts also had three distinct focuses; the earth, humanity, and yourself. Do you agree? Did this bring about any emotive feelings for you?
The author differentiates Kitchen Witchery and Hedge Witchery as separate but similar to Green Path. Do you agree?
How do you connect to 'earlier knowledge' that the author relays can be obscured by today's technological advances?
Do you agree with the authors definition of magic?
