Now: The End of a Chapter.

I got married tonight. Just for the night. I am going to leave the country tomorrow and he is going to propose to his girlfriend next week and. I proposed to him.

I did it for three reasons. One, just because I felt like doing it - screw gender norms, I’m going to propose. Two, I wanted to do it before he proposed to his girlfriend. I wanted him to have the choice to say yes to me and I wanted to do it before he did it to her. Three, I wanted him to experience being proposed to, even though I didn’t have any elaborate set up. All I had was my phone and our phone call.

I said, “H, I have lots of things that I want to say but I won’t because you probably already know them. I love you. Will you marry me?”

He said he couldn’t. I knew he couldn’t and I already told him beforehand that I wasn’t expecting a yes. I just wanted to do it so that I know I tried. But then I changed my question.

“Will you marry me for tonight?”

He said yes. (:

I told him that I didn’t have a ring for him but since I did ring him up… That was considered my ring for him. :P He told me how he was constantly amazed by how I can always come up with stuff like that. He said that that’s why he liked me so much.

So just for tonight, this very night, we are Mr and Mrs T and he is my husband and I am his wife. He said maybe we’ll do it again in the future, but I’m afraid that things may never be the same after he proposes. I said many ‘I love you’s today and he said none. I know he’s afraid of saying it back at this point of time but I know how he feels because he’s told me before. Besides, he can’t hate me too much if he accepted my proposal, right?

He’s been losing sleep and appetite for the past few days worrying about his own impending proposal. But he thinks that maybe, just for tonight, he will be able to sleep well again. (:
