Image description: A poorly-rendered rendition of the Theodore Roosevelt Rotunda in the American Museum of Natural History. And look, Mr. Roosevelt was progressive as far as the environment, but like pretty much anyone famous in America's history, he was a racist Ding-Dong.
So that sucks. Maybe let's not name a rotunda after him or something?
But, oh, yeah.
I was telling y'all how museums are good?
Um.
So, look.
This museum has just super fossil mounts of an Allosaurus threatening a Barosaurus and its baby (Baby not pictured), and the Barosaurus is rearing up on its hind legs and it is super super tall. I got to see it once when my friend was living in New York. I must've stared at it for 3 hours, when my friends went and did things that were less obsessive. THEN I turned around and stared at the Allosaurus for another 3 hours. The fossils are mounted on stone platforms, which are themselves settled on black stages. It's such a pretty exhibit.
I drew two spectators standing under the vaulted ceiling, gazing adoringly up at the two titans. Beneath the Barosaurus is Bob, a monster under the bed. He's a weird mix of Totoro, a big bear, and John Candy. He has brown fur with a sort of ocelot-esque coloration, but with a wide-toothy mouth, and antelope horns.
The human is a white trans woman, her brown hair pulled back into a ponytail, her head bent back to smile at the Allosaurus, who, if living, would most likely snack on her without a second thought.
She has blue denim overalls on, the legs rolled up to midcalf. She is wearing a beige, long sleeved shirt with pink stripes, and an army green backpack, with a she/her pronoun pin.
She has on headphones, and is DEFINTELY listening to the album Scoundrel Days, because the song "The Weight of the Wind" is entirely necessary for this diorama.
Then the message, Good museums invoke a sense of wonder. They teach us to think critically, and learn from the past. This is why fascists fear them.
Rebel.
Visit a museum.
Then I say I love you!

In the first years of this young century, long before I had come out as trans to anyone, I had a sad comic starring my self-insert and my long-suffering roommate. It always had weird stuff.
This is one I never finished.
Until now! Image description: Panel 1: We have our beleaguered everyman, Mark W sitting on a couch, reading a book (Pattern Recognition, but there's no real way to tell in the comic). He is a fit white guy, short, dark brown hair and goatee. He is wearing a Dream Theater t-shirt and jeans. Above him stands our protagonist, Atticus Flint. He is a thin white guy, chin-length light brown hair. He is wearing overalls and a Mazinger Z t-shirt. He is holding a demolished bit of cardboard packaging, and a bracelet of some sort. He says "Hey! My Battle of the Planets wristband came! I finally get to finish my 'Mark" cosplay!"
Panel 2: We see Atticus affixing the wristband to his right wrist. He continues, "Just strap it on and say the magic word!"
Panel 3: Atticus holds his fist in front of his face, and utters the immortal command: "Transmute!" The wrist band flares with light and the Gatchaman symbol appears on the wristband!
Panel 4: We see a member of G-Force in silhouette, their winged cape extended in a nebula of blues and purples! GATCHAMAN appears over their head in VERY poorly rendered Japanese, with Jun the Swan running underneath.
Panel 5: Atticus stands proudly in a Princess costume, hands extended happily! The outfit is a pink minidress, white thigh-high boots, a white cape and opera gloves, and a helmet vaguely reminiscent of a swan's head! "TA-DA!", he says!
Panel 6: Atticus's smile is replaced by bemusement. He lowers his arms, saying, "Or... huh."
Panel 7: Atticus looks down on his very Princess-looking form, holding one arm up to sweep the cape away. "I must've accidentally ordered the wrong one!" he says. Poor Mark W is seen leaving the room in disgust, which is his go-to move. "Yeah," he says, word balloon dripping in sarcasm, "Accidentally" (that bit is in italics, the international currency of cynicism) "Whatever helps you sleep at night, Princess." he finishes, holding up a hand, the very one so often requested that we talk to.
You can see how this is all very funny.

As a trans woman who feels SO comfortable in the category "woman", I am SO grateful for people who take the time to explain how it feels to not fit neatly into the much vaunted "binary". I am especially grateful when it is done with such a sweet and lovely comic such as this.

I hope this makes sense.

I keep forget to add image text, because I am a privileged so-and-so! So here is image text: The header text reads: Trans Problems #113: Sneeze Dysphoria
First panel: A white, brown-haired woman -hair in a braid- sits at a table. There are small paint bottles of green and yellow at her right elbow, as well as an old glass jar full of water, and and a crumpled paper towel with paint stains. She is holding a paint brush in her right hand, and an unpainted Griffin BattleMech miniature in her left. A blue and yellow velociraptor snoozes on the table, as is their wont.
PANEL THE SECOND! We see our heroine scrunching up her face, clearly undergoing something unpleasant! A weak "ah-" escapes her lips. The velociraptor's eyes pop open, an obscure 7th sense alerting them to approaching danger!
3rd panel: The woman's face scrunches up even further, and her mouth opens wide. She is either having a small aneurism, or this is a lead up to a terrible sneezing (as foreshadowed in the header text). A louder "AH-" sounds through the small panel! The velociraptor looks up, frozen in place!
4th panel: A horrific "CHOO!" sounds in this panel, and for the duration of this barbaric yawp, the representation of the young woman changes to that of a huge, bald, bearded man. The velociraptor is blown off the table.
5th panel: The woman appears as her self again, her magenta hoodie blown off one shoulder. She stared in wide. blue-eyed shock at the havoc she has rendered.
6th Panel: Essentially the same scene as the 5th, but the velociraptor has righted themselves, glaring at their friend. "Bless. You." they say, but you can kinda see from their expression, they probably don't mean it as much as they probably could.
And that's the end.
Hilarious, right?
I KNOW!
Okay, I love you! Sleep well!

Blake Brockington’s death was overshadowed three years ago by Transgender Day of Visibility and a string of white transgender suicides (namely that of Leelah Alcorn). Let’s not forget Blake and how amazing he was at just 18 years old. He was closely involved in the trans community and was the first openly trans homecoming king in North Carolina. This year, let’s celebrate the many Black trans folks who are forgotten after TDOR while recognizing those who are still alive and fighting for all of us (like Ashlee Marie Preston, Laverne Cox, and Janet Mock)!
