I begin to sing of Pallas Athena, the glorious goddess, bright-eyed, inventive, unbending of heart, pure virgin, saviour of cities, courageous, Tritogeneia.
Homeric hympn to Athena.

daily practice ⋆·˚ ༘ *
❃゜・。. ・°゜✼ ゜°・ . 。・゜❃・。. ・°゜✼ ゜°・ . 。・゜❃
the act of daily practice if often very misunderstood. a daily practice does not mean to do spells and rituals every single day in order to be a witch. it is not necessary for a daily practice to be huge or something specifically special.
you may even find yourself so distant from your craft that you put it on pause for weeks, yeah even months. does this make you any less of a witch? does this make you any less powerful? no, absolutely not!
we are human beings. it is absolutely normal to put certain things last, especially when there are more important things for you at the time. perhaps you can't practice witchcraft while studying for exams or during stressful and difficult times. or you just can't bring yourself to practice it for no specific reason at all.
just know that this is so damn normal. you should never feel bad about yourself for pausing your craft. there might be a reason for that you don't yet understand! so don't push yourself too hard.
a way to keep the magic in your life, even after pausing your craft for a while, is by incorporating daily practices into your everyday-routine, even when you're still practicing actively at the moment.
now what does daily practice mean?
daily practices are the things you do on a daily basis, regularly. we'll soon get to how some of these practices can look like.
it can help you to stay in touch with your craft, with your power, you spirit guides, deities, etc. even on days you're not drawn to do actual magical rituals—which is NORMAL and absolutely OKAY.
a few examples of daily practices:
1. stirring intentions in your drinks and foods
2. wearing crystals
3. enchant your jewelry and wear it
4. dress according to today's planet ruler
5. put spell oils on your body or clothes
6. use glamour magic (this can be as simple as drawing sigils or runes on your face with your moisturizer or makeup)
7. light an ancestor, deity or spirit guide candle (if you have one)
8. divination

Does anyone have any book recommendations on solar and lunar magic? I tried Diana Ahlquist’s Moon Magic and really didn’t connect with it. I’ve got a few titles picked out to potentially try (though books on sun magic seem to be pretty limited), but I was wondering if anyone had recommendations before I commit to buying anything.
From looking at reviews and reading the samples online, I’m thinking of trying:
Moonology by Yasmin Boland
Moon Magick by DJ Conway
Beneath the Moon by Rachel Patterson
Sun Magic by Rachel Patterson
Let me know if anyone has any other suggestions, or if there anyone didn’t vibe with the books on this list 🌙☀️

To my pagan/polythiest friends, heres a reminder to actually sit and chat with your deity about what you want/need and what would make life easier for you. They cant read minds most of the time (when you're not actively quietly communicating with them) and communication can only strengthen bonds. Go say that thing youre terrified to say or admit that you dont like some aspect of your practice. 90% of the time life gets easier when you do. And they're genuinely happy to see you succeed how you want to.
I see u, you're doin great

something I don't often see pagans talking about is smelling random things that associate with ur deities even if that thing is nowhere near you. sometimes I'll smell the perfume I use for Aphrodite when I'm not wearing it, or the ocean, or the Pirates of the Caribbean ride water (iykyk), or the Soarin' smellitizers. I feel like Lady Aphrodite uses this olfactory skill the most but others stop by too in this way and it's always a nice lil reminder that my deities are always with me :)

Prayer to Hestia
Mighty godess of the hearth hear my prayer
May the fire in my home burn bright
May my family laugh loudly
May there always be a warm meal
May there always be a warm place to come home to.
Praise be to you keeper of the eternal flame.

Thank you for this addition!! This is my first book on heathenry (most of my knowledge lies in the Hellenistic realm), so this was all very helpful and beautifully put ✨

I don’t usually do book recommendations/reviews on here, but for this one, I had to. This was an incredible read, both because of the depth of description of this specific Norse Pagan practice, but also because of how well-researched it is and the author’s firm stances on inclusion and anti-fascism. There’s an entire chapter section devoted to identifying and condemning fascist movements trying to co-opt Norse Pagan practices, and some of the literature cited to explain fascism are texts that I have used in my grad program (I specialize in Holocaust and Genocide Studies), which was really awesome to see! Definitely highly recommend this book 👍🏼
Also, I’d love to hear your book recommendations! I keep a running wishlist for my books, so let me know what should be added to my list!!

prayers don't have to be perfect by the way.
I pray to the gods in the middle of my classes, my shifts at work, and in the shower.
I pray waiting at the bus stop.
I pray looking for something I lost.
I'm not always the best at consistently praying and leaving offerings at my altar. most of my worship is quick prayers on the go and devotional acts.
that's ok. I'm trying and the gods don't hate me or anything.
they don't hate you either. practice in a way that fits into your life and your needs. that's enough I think.
