I can’t find a fic anymore and I’m going insane.

Merthur, post canon and modern era. Arthur is returned (from like 3 years) and at the beginning of the fic they are already married. The world is facing a war and suddenly one by one all the people they knew from their past beginning to appear.

If i remember correctly the very first chapter was about the life Merlin lived waiting for Arthur until 1997 when the first nucler bomb exploded (?)

Very long (maybe a series?), very angst (especially at the beginning with Gwen’s returns) and with a very great lore.

arthur’s logic being ‘you’re not a socerer, I would know’ drives me INSANE. it’s not ‘you’re not a sorcerer, that’s impossible’ or ‘you’re not a sorcerer, my father would’ve hanged you’ or ‘you’re not a sorcerer, you’re my dumbass clumsy servant’ or ‘you’re not a sorcerer, you’re not evil’ or even ‘you’re not a sorcerer, you’re my friend and you couldn’t have chosen to be my friend if you had magic’.

I love this scene so much! Everyone always talks about Leon here taking the pitcher from Merlin because these love struck idiots are too busy looking into each others eyes to notice the rest of the world. But when Leon takes the pitcher and Merlin quickly looks away Arthur takes that moment to look at Merlin’s face, you can see his eyes trail down to Merlin’s cheekbones, and probably wanting to look down at his lips, but he’s not granted that time as Merlin looks back to meet his eyes once again, so he quickly looks back up.

Yet there they were, with an extremely patient Arthur – more patient than Merlin had never seen him - guiding him and offering him gentle tips on how to move with the rhythm of the ballad. I love love love when Arthur teaches Merlin how to dance once he's Court Sorcerer and has to be present for banquets and balls. I mean Merlin using his magic to fill Arthur's chambers with music? Arthur being flustered by the close proximity? Merlin stepping on his foot and Arthur telling him he's good at it anyway? Them holding hands? Arthur humming along once he's able to relax? Merlin admiring how beautiful Arthur is especially since it's so rare to see him unguarded? Merlin stopping time by accident because he doesn't want it to end?
