Ok, here’s my first update on Carve the Mark. The story is interesting so far, the world (or would I say universe) is made up of nine known planets. Where everything is taking place so far is on the planet Thuvhe where a small fourteen year old boy named Akos lives. Things seem normal Intel one day three people from a family known as the Shotets kill his father and imprison Also and his brother Eijeh. All if Akos story is told in third person. Next we go back to when our other main character is eight years old as we see that she is part of the ruling family, her mother being loved and her father being feared.
Veronica Roth is great at transporting the reader to this world she has created, even if I’d wish she give a bit more explanation of things. I guess I just want everything revealed to me at once, not a good thing to want when your reading a book right? These first three chapters make me wonder. Who really are these Shotet? Why do they want Also? How does Cyra fit in? Guess I’ll have to read more to find out!
