Love Yourself: Tear (Vonnie's review π)
My rating: 9/10 β₯οΈ
What I loved
The chill, laid-back and bluesy sound it often had
The variety of styles through the album
They work so perfectly as a group; their chemistry is so strong, and this album is really no exception to that πππ
What I didn't love
I'm still getting used to the whole not understanding lyrics as I hear them thing, but that's probably the only thing that keeps me from totally enjoying their music (just a pet peeve maybe π

Artists of the Month (March 2024 π)
1. Conquer Divide
This band is amazinggg πππ
This month I listened to their two studio albums and I just loved them, so much so I ended up adding them to my favorite artists lol π
I was really missing out on their music dang it π
2. BTS
Damn, third month in a row I have BTS here. :3 β₯οΈ
This month I listened to Love Yourself: Tear and as usual, kept listening to my other favorites, mostly from Wings. π
ππ
3. glass beach
Listened to Plastic Death, and... What an amazing album, best one I've heard this year so far πβ₯οΈπ
And ofc still hearing my favorites from their first album :3 π
4. Megadeth
Yeah so... I've never been a huge fan of Megadeth. I really don't like Dave's vocals (though his shredding is insane β₯οΈ), and also they started sounding a bit meh to me after Rust In Peace. Fight me lol. π
π
Buuut of course, this month I listened to Countdown To Extinction, tried to give it a shot, and tbh wasn't disappointed. For the most part. π
πβ₯οΈ
Also kept listening to their older stuff as usual, as well as "Dystopia" which sounds to me like Megadeth going back to their thrash metal sound, which I love :3 β₯οΈ
5. Pearl Jam
This month I gave Gigaton a listen, and wow, they really still got it πππ
And of course, kept listening to a lot of their older stuff, especially "Rearviewmirror" π₯Ήβ₯οΈ

Spirit Phone (Vonnie's review π)
My rating: 8.5/10 β₯οΈ
What I loved:
The lyrics feel like they take you to some kind of dystopian universe, and the best(/worst?) part is often the concepts are elaborate metaphors based on reality (in other words the concepts are amazingly artful lol π
β₯οΈ)
It's so different from anything else I've heard before, and I appreciate that π
Chiptune :3
What I didn't love:
This is very minor because it's obviously not the main focus of the music at all, but... The "quirky" vocals were a bit too much for me after like 40 minutes lol π₯Ίπ

Saviors (Vonnie's review π)
My rating: 7.5/10 β₯οΈ
What I loved:
Green Day going back to their classic punk sound πβ₯οΈβ₯οΈ
Love seeing a group as classic as them still going strong π
The fact it's out on a US election year again, fourth time in a row they do that π
β₯οΈ
What I didn't love:
Not much I didn't love. But maybe just that not much of the album (in terms of sound and overall content) really stood out to me, I guess. π

March AOTM update :p
A lot happened last week for my top five lol β₯οΈ
Been listening to some more albums and, according to YT Music, Conquer Divide is my most played artist this month so far now (Melanie Martinez has no chance now I think :c), and yeah ig I agree π
π
Just like last week, Conquer Divide isn't first by much; glass beach is still kinda close, and Megadeth, Mayday Parade and August Burns Red are also right after them. So it really could be any one of those five for now, nothing's for sure yet. πππ

Wonder What's Next (Vonnie's review π)
My rating: 7/10 β₯οΈ
What I loved:
Their original and cool fusion of post-hardcore and post-grunge β₯οΈ
The lyrics (they were usually ambiguous, but you still kinda got the point and I like that lol β₯οΈ)
What I didn't love:
The post-grunge riffs started to kind of drone out by the time I was halfway though. This is an issue I have with most post-grunge bands π

the classic symptoms of a broken spirit (Vonnie's review π)
My rating: 8/10 β₯οΈ
What I loved:
The industrial kind of sound they went for here
The cohesiveness of the tracks (they all go together really well)
Sam Carter's voice ahhhh π
The emotional lyrics (not new for Architects at all but always nice β₯οΈ)
What I didn't love:
All tracks sounded very similar, which while, of course, it's the same album, they blend together a bit too much for me (might have to do with the mixing?)

March AOTM update :p
Yes I forgot to do it last Saturday shhh π
π
So for March so far... I've listened to a few albums and according to YT Music... Megadeth is number one so far? Despite having only listened to Countdown To Extinction? π
They're not first place by much though. Mayday Parade, August Burns Red and glass beach are about to reach Megadeth so... So far any of those could be artist of the month. π
Melanie Martinez and Conquer Divide are kind of close too, almost tied for fifth place. We'll see who comes out on top lol β₯οΈ

Stillmatic (Vonnie's review π)
My rating: 4.5/10 β₯οΈ
What I loved:
Nas' flow and delivery was there for the most part, which is always nice to hear β₯οΈ
A few songs had really interesting concepts, such as "Rewind" and "One Mic" (despite some questionable lyrics ofc lol)
What I didn't love:
The fucking homophobic lyrics and slurs. Why the fuck. π
Some songs just felt like filler tbh (empty, generic lyrics and flows, no interesting beat or choruses, nothing to them imo, like "Smokin'" or "The Flyest")

Right, considering the current state of corporate politics on this site, and that it seems that only those affected seem to be actively speaking on the matter, it is up to I, the only fucking cishet on tumblr, to drag this out to a wider audience.

3-D (Vonnie's review π)
My rating: 8/10 β₯οΈ
What I loved:
That classic electronicore sound π
And those breakdowns ππ
Autotune all over the album was a bold move, but they really made it work (for the most part) πβ₯οΈ
What I didn't love:
About that lol... Turns out you can have too much autotune, and a few times this album kinda did, for my taste at least π₯Ί
Bizzy Bone's verse was heavily autotuned, really didn't like that lol π

Artists of the Month (February 2024 π)
1. Escape The Fate
What can I say? I love Escape The Fate and have always loved them, but this month I listened to them a bit more, for no reason in particular other than to just vibe lol β₯οΈβ₯οΈ
I replayed a lot of their songs throughout the month, mostly "Fire It Up", "Ungrateful", "Invincible" and "My Apocalypse". Amazing band π₯Ήπππ
2. glass beach
After listening to their first album last month, a few of their songs have been in rotation on my playlist π
β₯οΈ
"yoshi's island" and "bedroom community" are their two songs I listened to the most, and that will probably be the case for a while β₯οΈ
(Also, I need to listen to their most recent album, it's probably worth a listen too ππ)
3. BTS
Yes, BTS is top five again ππ
I listened to Love Yourself: Her, The Most Beautiful Moment In Life parts 1 and 2, kept listening to songs on their album Wings (especially "First Love" ππ), and watched some more music videos with @casetotu π
πβ₯οΈβ₯οΈ
4. Eminem
Oh boy I could make a whole post about him lol. π¬π
But to keep it short... Yes I like some of Eminem's newer (2010s-2020s) songs, yes I think he's an amazing rapper, yes he's on my favorites list, and yes he was number four this month. Most played songs were probably "Gnat" and "Stronger Than I Was". Next lol. ππ
5. Nas
Both Nas and Eminem, in my opinion, are only getting better with time. π
I mean... "Can't Forget About You", "Rare" and "Michael & Quincy" were some of my most played this month, but just about anything from those albums is a banger to me so yeah πππ
