Some plot holes created in House of the Dragon so far;

This is not me hating on the show itself or any of the characters btw, I'm enjoying it so far despite the changes but once I started thinking about it I couldn't stop, lol. Reasons to follow the source material fr

SPOILERS FOR THE BOOK LOOK AWAY IF YOU DON'T WANT THEM

1. Leanor's "death". I was actually happy as hell when they let him live and only faked his death because I love Leanor and didn't want that family to suffer more after just losing Laena. Buuut that creates a whole bunch of problems. First, Leanor as a character; he faked his own death to run away right after his parents just lost their daughter, his nieces their mother and his own claimed sons lost their real father. That's lowkey selfish as hell but it can be excused because that's what he wanted for himself, to finally be able to live freely. I can see him making that decision. What can't be excused is him sailing away instead of flying with Seasmoke. Why? Well, to begin with the bond between a dragon and it's rider has been ruined more than once in the show so far and this is one example. Seasmoke knows Leanor is not dead, you can't trick a dragon. Dragons only bond with new riders when they lose their prior ones so Seasmoke won't get a new rider unless Leanor dies off screen wherever he went or they just say fuck it to dragons' loyalty. If Seasmoke doesn't get a new rider, his role in the dance is basically erased and team black loses one rider from their side.

2. The final scene of episode 9, of Rhaenys crashing the coronation. Now this one is a whole bunch of problems and it honestly pisses me off because apparently, someone just decided that it would be badass.

It's a known fact that the townfolk is in favour of the Greens in the book and against Rhaenyra and that scene with Rhaenys gave them all the more reason to be on that side. She killed hundreds, maybe thousands of innocent citizens just to make an entrance.

The entrance of which made no sense btw. Without going into too much detail, later on in the dance the dragon pit will be stormed and the dragons inside will die, some because of the ceiling collapsing on them. Yet, in that scene, Rhaenys flew straight through without her dragon, or herself for that matter how did she not get hurt during that stunt, taking any damage.

There's also the issue about the rest of the dragons that were supposed to be in the pit. Sunfyre, Dreamfyre? Vhagar was surely nearby? And none of these dragons got hurt during the destruction OR EVEN WORSE, CAME TO PROTECT THEIR RIDERS WHO'S LIVES WERE THREATENED?

Then Rhaenys just... Left? Somehow her dragon shrunk in size to get through the doors, LOL. Someone said she didn't kill the noble family because it wasn't her war but like... It is? Her whole family is on that side? Her granddaughters, his son in law, her future grandsons in law, her husband? It IS her war. She did not do anything because that scene never happened in the book and they couldn't fuck up continuity further.

Additionally, in the book, there IS a dragon scene during the coronation. It's between Sunfyre and Aegon. Aegon arguably has the best relationship with his dragon throughout the entire story and they took out any opportunities to show that. Similarly, in the book when Aemond has his eye cut out, Vhagar roars in the distance to show that their new bond is solid.

And again, because of that scene alone, Aemond being a fuck ass and killing Luke in the finale won't be just him being a petty psycho. He'll still be a bitch with no honour for doing it during peace talks, but just before that, Rhaenys would have crashed his brother's coronation and killed so many of his people and threatened his whole family. It makes it seem like team Black hit first instead.

But EVEN THEN, there's another problem with Aemond. Wherein the book, he was loyal as hell to Aegon from beginning to an end, refusing to be called king and only going by regent, he's now envious of his brother and wanting the crown? My god

And don't get me started on taking away majority of Alicent and Rhaenyra's wrongdoings to whitewash them. Alicent doesn't have half the agency in the dance that she originally had, although it turned her into a really interesting character that I enjoy watching (mostly because of the performance. Olivia Cooke I love you FR). Rhaenyra on the other hand, is so whitewashed that it's hard to distinguish wether she's now mature and calm or just bland.

Episode 9 was going pretty well but then that ending... Where was Martin when y'all wrote this??

So you want me to believe that Rhaenys flew straight through the floor from the dragon pit where, mind you, Vhagar, Sunfyre and Dreamfyre are also supposed to be? You know, the Green's dragons? And we didn't hear a single roar from said dragons when their riders' lives were threatened???

All to massacre a bunch of small folk and then leave the noble family alive because "it wasn't her war" as if she's not directly involved in it like

Gave another shot at colouring Vanitas today~ with a bit of a different method!

I felt like a kid when doing the sparkles but idc i love them lol

I'm not sure if i prefer a colour palette where his hair is straight black or blueish like here? Either way, he's absolutely gorgeous! All thanks to the beautiful art of the manga~

The vnc manga has some of the most gorgeous art I've seen and both Vanitas and Noe's characters pallets are beautiful! I don't think it's possible to do them justice, tbh.

Isn't the real Chuuya. I believe this because of two reasons;

How could have he gotten caught? He is probably the most powerful character in bsd when it comes to sheer strength and fighting, not to mention that with his ability he can make sure nothing and no one ever touches him. How the hell did someone manage to catch him and turn him?

He looks different. Many people pointed out he looks like he's in the outfit he wore when he was a teenager (i saw ppl on twt say he had a midlife crisis and it made me chuckle in these tiring times.) And this is a reach, but I'm pretty sure his ponytail looks shorter too, like it was in Stormbringer.

Not to mention, are the vampires able to function when they're so far away from the one who turned them? How did he even reach the prison? Wasn't Mori holding Chuuya's hat I don't know how many chapters ago???

This is definitely just another part of Fyodor's game and i hope it'll be answered soon because i can't wait to find out what the hell happened to my boy. 💔💔

This part starts off with Adam's pov and we can see that he considers Chuuya his "partner" and is devoted to take care of him in... Whatever robo ways he knows how to. He doesn't seem to know everything there is, though, as in the store he had to ask what gum is.

The funeral of the 5 who died... Pain. Endless pain. The Mafia is honouring them properly. Chuuya is mourning and frustrated AND MY HEART HURTS while Adam is trying to understand why he's acting like this (since he doesn't really comprehend emotions)

Adam put Chuuya as the highest rank of command over his previous boss which is interesting he either sees Chuuya as a very reliable person to follow or he's just that set on following instructions for the mission LOL

Deep crease appeared between Chuuya-sama's brows. "In other words, there are three more?"

"Yes. It seems that they stand for the number of targets this time."

—— I will assassinate everyone who ever crossed your heart.

This is what Verlaine said.

We do not know how he chooses people who crossed Chuuya-sama's heart. Perhaps there is a mole inside the mafia. However, Verlaine intends to do his job here at least three more times.

So Verlaine is planning to kill THREE more people that Chuuya cares about. Give me a break I can't take this shit.

And as far as a mole goes... I have an idea of who it might be but i better be wrong, or ima be PISSED

Chuuya has an idea of who the next victim might be so they're heading there

There, he saw the face of a person he would have never expected.

".......Chuuya."

Chuuya observed the boy expressionlessly. Then he stood up.

"Shirase," Chuuya said. In a low, stern voice. "it's been a while."

The boy called 'Shirase' grabbed a flower vase within his reach. And threw it at Chuuya.

I did not expect this development.

I thought it was going to be an emotional reunion, a hug full of joy or something like that. Because that is what happened in the silver screen movies which i watched to learn about humans.

But the boys whose name is 'Shirase' threw a flower vase at us.

Ah, yes. What a heartfelt reunion. Adam is precious, protect him. He just wanted to see two bros make up with hugs. I wish, Adam, i wish.

We learn that the Sheep is no longer running which is... Expected. And surprise, surprise, Chuuya is to blame.

Now, see... I understand why Shirase would react like this. In his pov, he lost the only thing he had, right after the one who they trusted to protect them dipped and they think he started working with the Mafia. He's a kid, what's he's feeling is justifiable.

BUT, he clearly still doesn't acknowledge the pressure they had put on Chuuya by obligating him to protect them and how stupid it is for them to go up against big shots all because they have a powerful ability user.

He also says he'd rebuild the sheep and be a better King which shows how he doesn't understand leadership at all, either.

Chuuya on the other hand is really calm. He lets Shirase throw shit at him, yell at him, doesn't talk about. He only tells him he's in danger because he cares about him. He's guilty over what happened, still. 😔

Even after being told that there's an assassin after his ass Shirase decides to be a lil bitch and tries to run away from them which ENDS SO WELL when he gets cornered by the police and now Chuuya and Adam are stuck trying to negotiate with the authorities to let him go. Fun.

He made a face as if he was chewing on a hundred bugs. "It's the truth." Chuuya-sama's voice sounded bitter, as if he would rather die than say so. "But I can't reach him. Bastard, i hope he just kicked the bucket somewhere."

"Huh," i think it would be troublesome if our collaborator was dead. "Can we trust this person?"

"Trusting him? There's no way we can trust him," Said Chuuya in a somewhat sour tone. "This guy and his twisted mind, he's the lowest scum. If i were to compare, he's the kinda type that would sell water to someone drowning. Moreover, actually, he has a sharp mind to the point that he would make the person buy, so i can't handle him. But, without his ability, we can't defeat Verlaine."

That's... Such an accurate description of Dazai it's hilarious and scary, LOL. He can do absolutely everything with his mind. Genius characters like this are my favourite even tho they also usually irritate me.

And shush Chuuya. You'll be Mr. "I used corruption because I trusted you." In the future

Teenage Chuuya will 100% bully his adult self for going so soft around the edges when it comes to Dazai. I like this, though. Right now, they're not partners and they don't trust each other but in the current timeline, even after they haven't worked together in years, trust is the fundamental part of their relationship. And they vocalise it often too (also Dazai in dead apple: you used corruption believing in me? How beautiful.)

The place where Dazai was living was not a home. It was one of the abandoned shipping containers. A refrigerator, a ventilator, a desk and a chair, a bedding and a small naked light bulb were furnishing the inside of a large container, which was originally built to transport cars for oversea shipping.

On the desk next to him, a cell phone rang. It was a call from Chuuya. But Dazai did not answer. His eyes didn't even twitch. Entirely motionless, he remains sitting with his arm folded, staring at the door ahead, and into the darkness.

Those eyes were far too silent. Those black pupils absorb every sound and all light, without letting anything escape.

This is... Extremely sad. Not because of the conditions he lives in, I'm sure he chose them for himself. He can get a luxurious apartment in one of the Mafia's buildings but he doesn't need that. He just needs a place to stay as each day passes. It's fitting for him to not want anything that he will call "home". He doesn't have one.

What makes it sad is how empty he is. Dazai is a very complex and dark character because of how he views the world. He, like many, wants to know if there's a reason to live and since he can't find one, he is bored of everything and doesn't see a point to keep going. Not having a meaning to his life makes it tortures to go through every day for him.

Back in fifteen, he had grown curious of what life has to offer when he met Chuuya, but it didn't stick for long. He needs something new.

It's said that he already has the title of the Demon Prodigy and feats way more impressive than anybody else but he's not of the same rank that Pianoman was or an executive because no one trusts him.

Dazai, his expression not changing at all, answered with a gritty voice devoid of emotion, "I'm afraid of you, Verlaine-san."

Record scratch. Freeze frame. Looks at camera like in the office.

GODDAMN MY GUT FEELING WAS RIGHT? I HATE IT. Verlaine visited Dazai two days ago to kill him first does that imply he's Chuuya's most important? Maybe? Not the time for this i know But he didn't because Dazai offered info on the mafia... WHY DUDE WHY

"It's simple." Dazai smiled slightly. And then, his voice low, like a growling sound out of a nightmare, he said, "I want to see the Port Mafia burn."

Uh, yes, hi. Everything i said above about Dazai growing bored of everything? I'm sorry, I jinxed it. I hope there's some sort of trick here and Dazai isn't actually directly responsible for the death of Chuuya's friends but if he is... BOI I CAN'T STAND U ALTHOUGH I LOVE U

Also, Verlaine mentioned that the Mafia picked up Dazai and raised him which is an interesting hint to his backstory and a painful reminder we know NOTHING of his life pre-mafia. @Asigiri pls get on it I'm desperate.

^^ Chuuya's response to a detective who wants him to rat out the Mafia to drop the charges against Shirase. I love him, your honour.

"Why would Chuuya want to protect me?"

"The answer is simple. It is because Chuuya-sama entered the mafia in order to protect you all — the 'Sheep'."

Congrats! You're officially THE LAST ONE TO KNOW! I know it's not your fault you didn't have all details, but cmon dude. Smfh.

Now pls stop whining and get going before Verlaine shows up

Adam is literally no match for him. It's not even a fight, Jesus Christ.

"At this rate, he'll probably be late on our first date? Good grief, as his older brother I'm worried. You know?"

Instead of straight up killing him Verlaine asks Shirase about what Chuuya was like when they first met...? I mean, alright. If you want to stall murder.

"He... Chuuya was .. he was wearing a military uniform that looked like he had stolen it from somewhere. He was a ragged-looking guy. His face was as dirty as his hair. He didn't have any shoes on,"

"I..... I didn't understand what he was talking about, i thought he was just some weird guy. And then Chuuya asked again. 'that thing in your hand, that square block, tell me what it is,' he said."

"What i held in my hand was a slice of bread."

"He collapsed. It was like he lost his concentration, you know? It wasn't until i got closer to him that i first understood that he was all skin and bones, on the verge o f dying."

As disfunctional the Sheep was as an organisation, they were still a family. They were all lost kids abounded by everybody else who stuck together to stay alive. Maybe if they had realized their faults when they were trying to become a feared gang, things would be different. They could've continued helping those who were thrown aside by society.

Thankfully, Chuuya shows up just before Shirase gets killed AND ACTUALLY HOLDS HIS OWN AGAINST VERLAINE, HELL YES BABY.

It's thanks to him not relying on his ability but on martial arts instead and i absolutely LOVE THAT. When he was first introduced, it was said that he's #1 martial artist and i want to see that shown more.

But of course, Verlaine ends up overpowering Chuuya. He's a fucking beast I'll give him that.

And we find out that the target was never Shirase, but the detective that Chuuya spoke to.

I didn't add any of their convos here, but basically, he really touched Chuuya by explaining that he doesn't chase him and Shirase just because they're crossing the law. He's sad that children like them, and himself, are forced to live a life of crime to survive and he wants to change that so less people have to go through this. And when he dies, Chuuya asks him wasn't he supposed to work on making it better for everyone? PAIN, PAIN, PAIN.

And Verlaine is onto the next target.

Summary

Okay, look, I FUCKING LOVE THE STORYLINE. And Asigiri's writing style is right down my alley. The pace is good, the description is great, i can perfectly imagine everything written and am getting excited to eventually see it animated
