new post on substack:
the diner sits on the edge of the exclusion zone, exactly where the sun used to rise. no one remembers who built it, or why the neon sign still flickers open in letters older than memory. but every morning, the doors unlock at 6:00 sharp, and the countdown on the wall ticks one second closer to zero. the menu hasn’t changed in fifty years. neither has the countdown. they call it redline café. some say it was named after the old train route that used to cut through this dead part of town, before the tracks melted and the ground started humming. others say it’s for the map — the red line you’re not supposed to cross unless you’re ready to forget how clocks work.

lately, everything has felt hard. not catastrophic. just heavy. like i’m dragging myself through the same day over and over again and hoping no one notices how close i am to falling apart. i’ve been tired in the kind of way that sleep doesn’t fix. angry in the kind of way that doesn’t have a target. and soft — always soft — in a world that doesn’t make space for that.

there’s a question i keep chewing on: what’s the difference between a good selfish act and a bad one? because sometimes, it feels like the line shifts depending on who’s asking. or who’s hurting.

my heart’s a mess right now. not shattered exactly — more like scattered. it’s still in pieces on the floor, waiting to be picked up and turned into something. a mosaic maybe. that part’s on the list, somewhere, but for now it’s just staying where it fell. and that’s okay. it isn’t you.

new substack post: long-term goals.
i used to think “long-term goals” were things you wrote on a whiteboard in a sunless office where everyone wore shoes and had opinions on quarterly growth.

marketing as a love language. to make a very long story short, i’ve had a weird week. i have bipolar, and i was manic. i put together something i’ve been working towards for ten years, and it was messy, it still requires a ton of editing and refinement, and it probably would’ve been better off with a longer-term plan before launching, but i don’t do things wisely. i do things with heart. ember & ink is a creative collective where the goal is to use skills learned from mutual aid and grassroots organizing (from bipoc activists) to make creative work a little easier for artists, and to make a bit of money on the side. i want a community where if you need some help on marketing, art, writing, photography, web design, or anything else, you can find it. you don’t need to wear all of the hats.
read on substack.
