Just curious, and I know it's a hot topic but....what are your thoughts on Rogue x Gambit? I'm not too keen on them anymore if I'm being honest, but....well, I've seen valid arguments against them, and I just wanted to hear your opinion.

I warn you that my critique is going to be harsh...

I used to find Gambit having a crush on Rogue cute until that episode where Morph impersonated her and then Gambit tried kissing the real Rogue while she was taking a nap without her consent. Even as a teen girl, I knew it was wrong.

Since then, the relationship's red flags came all around me especially with how Rogue acts when she can't touch him vs. when she can. Everything about the relationship is just based upon lust, frustration, and is the most unhealthy thing I have ever seen to the point where it's not even a relationship. It's just over glorified friends with benefits.

Whenever Rogue isn't able to touch Gambit, she treats him the way she should in that he is a total obsessed creep who needs to back off which he rightfully should. Initially, Rogue was not interested even if she could have been able to touch him and one point, he started to mellow down. However, whenever Rogue can touch him, she can't keep her hands off him and that too is creepy not to mention hypocritical. They are NOT a match romantically because beyond the physical aspect, they don't even have a real emotional connection as anything beyond friends nor do they respect each other. Gambit is creepily fixated on Rogue and Rogue needs to make up her damn mind about the guy.

To me, this is just a case of two people not even really liking each other, but just love making out together thay much for self validation, a desperate attempt to feel something like some kind of high and they cannot seem to address their real trauma. It's a really sad situationship really because neither Gambit or Rogue are bad people and do want a genuine connection with someone, but due to the terrible writing at Marvel and its refusal to write healthy romances, they have reduced each other to being one another's "therapy pets".

In short, they're not a couple. They're friends with benefits who are merely addicted to each other's kisses and attention.

NEVER get into a situation like this.

Dear The Last of Us Fic Writers

I have a PSA for you. As someone who lives in the South and has friends in Austin, TX, can ya'll do me a HUGE favor? Stop using antiquated Southern words, idioms, etc., when having Joel and Tommy speak in your stories? It is extremely jaring, and I nope out of your fic soooo fast.

In past PSAs I posted, I used the example of "Bless Your Heart." The majority of the time you say that here, you are being rude to someone. It is also not used as much as it used to be.

Lately, I have taken notice of a word that has, over the last twenty to thirty years, been disappearing in modern Southern vernacular. If the person is about 80, they might use a lot, but it isn't used much anymore. The word is Sugar, or as it is pronounced, Sugah. It is a term of endearment, used mostly for kids or customers, to tell them how sweet and cute they are. Occasionally, it's used between couples, but it was always for the kids and customers.

And letmetellyousomething... any time I've been to Austin, I never heard a single person utter Sugar. To anybody.

Why is that important? *headesk*

Joel and Tommy grew up just on the outskirts of Austin, TX, in Travis County.

Now, there is this caveat, as always when writing fan fiction: you do you. Write what you want. Write how you want.

BUT please, grow as a writer. Do your research. Even if it seems insignificant. And no. Google is not always right.

Really Curious When Romy Fans Will Start Admitting their Favorite Thief if a Collaborator of War Crimes

Like, I give Gambit fans somewhat of leeway, they usually read the comics, so they have an opinion.  But what about the Romy folk?  That his collaboration in the Mutant Massacre I (In the Morlock Tunnels) is what led to so much of the problems for the X-Men afterward.  And that Kurt, Kitty as well as Piotr were medi-evac'd to Muir Island?  This broke the team, and almost their spirit.  But Remy gets a pass because...?

The apologist Gambit '99 Annual by Fabian Nicieza tries to frame it that his suffering in Antarctica is enough, but what is enough?  Especially as the promise of Krakoa was killed for editorial fiat?  When will Remy start apologizing?  The Mutant Massacre I was bad enough, but the fact that he worked *so* hard to hide it from the X-Men?  When will he address this?

Nothing has turned me away from the romy ship like Gail Simone and her cult following. I must be the only person who remembers her bashing Gambit back in the day about how he wasn’t good enough for Rogue this and that and now suddenly she’s the biggest fan and loves him but can’t do either character justice in her own writing or has any genuine interest in Gambit other then puppy dog lover of big bad Rogue. She’s always been sus as a writer and a pretty shitty person in general but lordy does this take the cake. The same woman sending people after other fans on X because they like a different ship, calling people predators for liking two grown adults together and claiming Rogueneto shippers are misogynistic and only lust after Rogue wanting her naked any time she with Erick is now writing straight up porn for engagement because the storyline she has is a flop, the characters make no sense and aren’t canon to the way they should be, the new kids are copy and paste of characters that already exist and have no real effort put into them other than background noise and she has the audacity to be having Rogue and Gambit drawn naked in every single panel after all her noise. It’s okay for them to be naked when she wants it, in a comic that doesn’t need that sort of thing and it’s written imo as targeted at teens and Y/A because she’s doing it?

Say what you want but I smell hypocrisy all over that mess and physically cannot look at it any longer, I tried hard to give it a shot but it’s a disaster I cannot wait to be over. Sad times when she’s the only writer willing to do romy thanks to fandom etc but I fully get the hate for the ship. Not a single romy fan has written them well, ever and by this point it’s not even Rogue and Gambit anymore. Glad Savage Land was good and I hope someone gives Gambit some justice in the new AoA comic and keep his actual love interest Lila as the love of his life. The character and fans deserve something after all these years of abysmal writing and making him out to be some kind of joke. Erasing Lila and Belladonna and any other characters for his is real weird from the people saying you’re a purist for not liking romy because it’s not perfect when them not being perfect was the only appeal. It’s the current fans who are unhinged trying to make out they’re in deep love and nobody else can have them at all, ever that are the purists who are doing any good the ship had a disservice turning people away from it all together. I’m a multi shipper but this is now on my nope list. I wasn’t the biggest fan of the couple but I did like the early stuff, now I’d love nothing more if both characters were never on the same page or in the same comic ever again.

Also very weird of her to be bashing Mags as a predator for loving ADULT Rogue and having a wholesome relationship with her where she’s shown to be more mature and in control of herself emotionally and physically because of the age gap yet has created a teenage child of Prof X who’s like 90 or something at this point when that was very unnecessary and really randomly done. What’s the age gap of Charles and Calico’s mom? How very predatory of you Miss Simone. Very on point for that part of the fandom.
